From reports, Amuzie played almost all the qualifiers for the U23 African Championship. He missed the competition because of the injury and he would have been the ideal left back for the team.

So the boy is not just a low quality player. He has some rep that led him to the spot in Egypt. I see him as the one to play that position at Rio because he has Coach Siasia's trust.
".....because he has the coaches trust" u said.I rest my case based on that.

You said international but you change gear to senior duties.

If na so, I will remove Ndidi from the defence and add Shehu Abdullahi but believe me, i don't thrust his game. I will rather go for Musa Mohammed or Kingsley Ehizibue.
Why should u remove Ndidi from d defense for Abdullahi? Both are utility players and every coach would want to have such players in his team.

Do you know since when Shehu has been a senior international? He featured prominently in the 2014 CHAN during Keshi. He was one of our best players in that tourney.

That guy has a lot of senior team experience o. Aftera all u cited experience and versatility as ur criteria. Shehu can play RB, DMF and CMF.

Dream Team’s Amuzie out for nine months
August 13, 2015

Italian club Sampdoria has confirmed that Dream Team VI defender, Stanley Amuzie, ruptured his cruciate ligament in a CAF Championship qualifier in Congo and will be out for nine months.

Initial scans in Abuja revealed that the talented wingback, who is in Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh’s immediate plans, damaged his cruciate ligament by the time he was pulled out of the second leg qualifier against Congo in Pointe Noire, africanFootball.com reports.

The injury forced him to be replaced by Chima Akas after only 25 minutes of action.

“Sampdoria has confirmed initial findings that Amuzie ruptured his cruciate ligament, it’s a similar injury a player like Osaze (Odemwingie) suffered last season at Stoke City,” a top official told africanFootball.com

“As a result of this, the player will be out for a minimum of nine months, which will include his rehabilitation after surgery.”

Here we go with the experience. It is time we reduce the hype we give experience. It was experience that kept Ighalo upfront in the team despite reports saying he was wasteful in camp. Reports said Iheanacho was more clinical in training, yet Ighalo got the nod based on experience.

It is time we look more into performances than establishment and experience.

Amuzie was a player scouted and signed by Sampdoria, Italy. A club I respect far more than the club Madu plays for.

Unfortunately, Amuzie suffered a terrible injury that required surgery. A cruciate ligament injury and he is still recuperating but showing solid form.

Amuzie gets far less respect than he deserved.
Experience counts for much in football bro. Siasia is EXPERIENCED enough to know that training conditions are much different from match day conditions.

I personally preferred Iheanacho to start as CF ahead of Ighalo based on what I know abt his capabilities on match days. I was nt at d training camp with them so i dnt know what happened there.

On Madu vs Amuzie, I will take Madu ahead of Amuzie.

I agree with you on Ndidi but Shehu Abdullahi. Nay! Because the last time i saw him played for his club, he was not used as a RB but rather used as a DMF. Did you see the last match against Egypt? Bros, that guy no get experience at all. I will stick with Moses Odubanjo because i have see him play and i rate him above Shehu Abdullahi.
If u say Shehu Abdullahi has no experience at all, is it Odubajo hu has never been involved in any international match?

I will pick Andullahi and even Sincere Seth before even considering Moses Odubajo

What you keep leaving out in your 169 minutes/six starts is that Amuzie was injured. After he returned, he started six straight matches.

SMH!!! Amuzie has played 6 games after returning from Injury. http://ca.soccerway.com/players/stanley-amuzie/435681/

Aminu is one of the best Nigerian players in Europe, won like 4 MOTMs this season and there is no way he will not be ranked among top 20 Nigerian players in Europe.

Kingsley Madu is a more established and experienced LB. Except if Siasia wants to apply his usual sentiments.

Please can you educate me further?

Who amongst the defenders you chose are good at taking set-pieces?

Who can play long range-shots?
Are those the primary responsibilities of a defender? A defender's defensive abilities are far more important than taking set pieces and long range shots. The team has midfielders and forwards who can perform those.

Due to the limited numbers of players required to make the list for the Olympics, i humbly suggest that utility players should be considered for selection and above all experience and talent. These criteria has helped me to frame up a list of players i think are potentially good enough to help us win or atleast create an impression in the Olympics.

Starting from the back line:

1) Moses Odubanjo; Moses Odubanjo can play as a RB, LB, RM and as a RW. He is currently the most consistent RB we have right now. Odubanjo plays for Premier League promotion prospect Hull City. He has won individual laurels;Leyton Orient Young Player of the Year: 2012–13, Football League Young Player of the Month: April 2014

2) Kenneth Omerue; Kenneth doesn't need any form of introduction because he is an old guard of the Super Eagles. His wealth of experience which he garnered at the AFCON won by the Eagles and at the World Cup will go a long way to help fortity the defence. He can play as a RB and CB. Omerue plays regularly for his Turkish team Kasimpasa-sk.

3) Leon Balogun; Arguably Nigeria's most in-form defender in Europe. He is eligible to play as one of the Overage players. Balogun can play as a RB, CB and DM.
He is currently plays in the Bundesliga with Mainz.

4) Ndidi Wilfred; He is currently playing regularly for Genk in the Belgium Pro league. He can play as a CB and DM.

5) Kingsley Madu; Kingsley can only play as a LB but he is the most consistent and experienced left back eligible for the Olympics. He was a member of the 2013 U20 class and currently the Super Eagles.

This is my list for the the defence. I want us to replicate the Atlanta Olympic team by chosen only 5 defenders.

Any objection before i move to the midfield?

Icon4s, TheGoodJoe, BlackAlbino6, TheSuperNerd, terzurum5, Joseph1013, orkpekyandega, lakesidepapa BascoVanVeli, Badosqi, tbaba1234, justiz5 and the big bros i didn't mention. Make una no vex ooooo.
Firstly it is Omeruo nt Omerue.

I like ur criteria of Versatility and experience. I agree with 4 out of ur 5 defenders. Bt I would rather include Ndidi as a DMF and get an additional Wing back. Ndidi as a DMF on d list would also serve as a back up CB.

I said 4/5 bc Shehu Abdullahi to me is ahead of Moses Odubajo.

Kingsley Madu is currently Nigéria's best LB.

The experience btw Omeruo and Balogun makes them a very good pair.

For now, my best starting backline is Abdullahi, Balogun, Omeruo, Madu.

Our fullbacks were poor. They can hardly dribble nor cross the ball. And our build-up is usually too slow and our centre backs can't pass the ball one time, they rather hesitate, slow down and then play it sky high. And if we are still playing ighalo upfront and want him to score, never load high balls. he his poor in aerial duels. i believe we will be better off with this selection in our next match:
1.CARL IKEME
2.DANIEL AKPEYI
3.EMMANUEL DANIEL
4.GODFREY OBOABONA
5.KENNETH OMERUO
6.CHIDOZIE AWAZIEM

18.VICTOR MOSES
19.MOSES SIMON
20.AHMED MUSA
21.ODION IGHALO
I remove efe ambrose for his inconsistencies or momentary loss of concentration. in our 1st leg, he puts salah on-side for the goal and in the 2nd leg he blocked the keeper's view and deflected the shot in our net
But y this picking on Ambrose? In other words he was responsible for our nt qualifying.

Amuzie and nt Ambrose kept Salah on for that goal in d first leg.

Leading to d goal in Alexandria, when d Egyptian player was to take dat shot where did u expect Ambrose to b as a CB? Behind d goalie?

And Abdullahi Shehu defleted d ball into d net and nt Ambrose.

I have noticed that Ambrose is d most disliked player in that team which is majorly y he has been receiving all this bashing. Ambrose to me was nt as bad as most of u guys potray him.

Haba, too much sentiments running.

There is another Fifa window arnd 3rd of June. The NFF should b able to arrange a friendly for the full U23 team. Full bc that would have been d week we were supposed to play Chad. So no match for d Super Eagles. We should maximise that chance to test d team we want to present in Rio.

I wish we can play 2 high profile friendlies in Europe using that window. Wont b bad if we test our might against U23 sides of Spain and/or Germany.

I hope mediocrity will nt be tolerated. And Siasia should not apply sentiments in the invitation of players. Let only the best and nothing but the best make it to Rio.

I envisage a very controversial final 18-man list. Which may be made up of 15 U23 and 3 Over-aged players. Many "big" U23 names will be dropped.

How is it 18?
Each nation must submit a squad of 18 players, 15 of which must be born on or after 1 January 1993, and 3 of which can be older dispensation players, by August 4th 2016. A minimum of two goalkeepers (plus one optional dispensation goalkeeper) must be included in the squad.

Also see: http://www.rio2016.com/sites/default/files/users/rio2016_files/fifa-football-en_0.pdf

The implication of this rue : If you must include 3 over-aged players u can only select 15 U23 players.
Only 18 players will make it to Rio.

I heard NFF wants to sue CAF, how true please?

Personallu, I felt our grouping was unfair. Seriously? Two power housees who had missed the last two AFCONs....wasn't very smart considering some groups have shiiit teams nobody wants to see at AFCON.

We could have gotten a better grouping, and then na only our group come get team wey withdraw?

The dynamics were never favourable and Egypt was the banana peel that worked against us.....they've been out 3 editions in a row, so they deserve it more anyway.

Still pained by the line-up and how easily we could have won if Siasia had just made the right decisions
The groupings were done based on FIFA Ranking. Nigeria was in pot 2 of which we could have played against any of CIV, Algeria, Ghana, Capeverde, Cameroun, Burkina Faso, Senegal, DRC, Guinea, Egypt, Tunisia, Zambia etc. So, we could nt really have had an easier group. We put our selves in that situation of being in pot2 by the poor string of results achieved in the later days of Keshi.

As for the Law suit. I see it as a mission in futility. Except the NFF wants to contact you as their Lawyer. wink

Our only hope is for FIFA to ban Egypt from international competitions as they are currently going through crisis in their Football Federation. undecided

NFF explore legal loopholes over Chad withdrawal

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have said their lawyers are looking at the propriety of changing the rules of the qualifying tournament for AFCON 2017 in midstream after Chad pulled out to cause their group to now only produce one finalists for Gabon 2017.

Chad pulled out of the qualifiers citing financial difficulties and according to the rules of the competition, Group G, which also has Egypt, Nigeria and Tanzania could now only produce a qualifier for the tournament proper.

“It is rather unfortunate that Chad, one of the teams in the qualification group, suddenly pulled out of the race, leaving only three teams left in the group, and only the winner of the group guaranteed qualification,” read in part the official statement.

“This appeared to have taken away our worst –case scenario of qualification.

“However, our legal unit is looking at the propriety of changing the rules midstream.”
