From the game last night, i saw an improved defense even though there are still loose ends to be tightened.

The Midfield was again dominant just like against Hungary. And this to me seems to be the most co-ordinated part of the team. However, their link-up play with the attack still needs to be worked on as for the most part of the game (until the last 5-10minute) there were hardly any good through passes.

The attack is still not much co-ordinated. Let me just spend a some little time on them. Olusegun, a very talented player. He often reminds me of Funsho Bangboye of the 2015 crop: blistering pace with skills, excellent off the ball moves but his final decisions always let him down. He still needs plenty of coaching. Akinkunmi Amoo is a more polished player, already playing like a professional. Excellent dribbling skills, good ball holding capability and good with his final decisions. Wisdom Ubani, with pace and power. Always pressing the opposition. Reminds me of the young Uche Nwofor. He needs to learn to play more with less power and more skills.also his fitness level is a source of worry. Jabaar has always been an impact substitute since the AFCON. He comes to me as one of the most tactical players in that forwards line. Highly influential even though he is not as skillful as some of the other forwards. I can just say he is very efficient.

Worthy of mention is Sai'd our Savior for the night. Excellent 3 goals, talk of precision. He also had a good game against Hungary.

My major worry, is that unlike most of our previous U17 we do not have a dreaded point man. The forwards that have been expected to deliver the goods are yet to get off the mark. Well, just two games gone. Let's hope and see if there is improvement from them.

Their fighting spirit is top notch! and I just wish the Super Eagles and Arsenal can learn that aspect of the game from these kids grin grin grin. The team overall still lacks cohesion, hopefully they will gel more as the tournament progresses.

Congratulations to Nigeria!

Dem dey call me witch for here because both matches I said they would come back. I can see the talent but they don't have a full team mentality yet. If they get it then other teams are in trouble.
It is only people that have not followed this team from the AFCON U17 that will easily write them off. grin grin

They typically finish stronger than their opponents.

Just like in their pre-tournament games.

You come to wonder how they won the U17 AFCON. That is Cameroon. Their share descipline and determination with some elements of luck help them in tournaments especially on African soil.

They still have Spain and Argentina to play in that group. undecided

I am very sure if it were a Nigerian player that was bought for even half that amount and has performanced the way he has you would not be defending him like this.

Because he is Nicholas Pepe we should allow him to spend the same number of seasons as Iwobi before doing a comparison between both players. Good Lord of host!

it is the same luck Pepe used to deceive Arsenal, scoring 11 whole penalties to boost his goals, so that Arsenal execs blindly ran to buy a fraud.

Their eye go sha clear very soon. Mid season iw coming and people are still making excuses for a 72 million pound player. You think Pep and Klopp would still be fielding Pepe that brings little to nothing to a game by this time?
Exactly, he brings little to nothing to a game. If he was a 30million pounds purchase now the expectations would have been different. 72 Million pounds!

He doesn't give assists he cannot even hit the ball hard enough to threaten a goalie. angry

Why will iwobi get a start under klopp when salah and mane is there? bros na wa for you ooooo, even pepe will not start at Liverpool for your information , stop bringing guardiola team to this jare, mahrez doesnt even play all games at city and you are here speaking of iwobi, nicolas pepe will also be lacing boots at mancity for your information

You are funny sir. And please don't bring up the "because he is a Nigerian/African" or "because a black man is the scapegoat" because Aubameyang and Lacazette or even welbeck was in that team too
A lot of Arsenal fans wanted Iwobi out but Pepe has not faired any better as he came and he has been a total disappointment forget about whether he is an African or not.

What if Pepe scores a brace in each of his next 10 games? Will you still make the same comment?

The dude proved his quality with those free kicks. Please lets not be sentimental. Remember there was a time it looked like Osimhen may go into oblivion. We believed in him (because he is a Nigerian). What stops an Arsenal fan from believing Pepe would bring in the heat soonest?
We are talking reality here you are saying "what if".

From what he has played thus far he has not been able to add value to the team like Iwobi would usually have done. That is very basic enough to comprehend.

For a 72 Million pounds player he should be setting the EPL ablaze by now.

This may be true.

But that doesn't mean to say that these deductions are without substance.

Look at a number of our players who claimed U16 in 2009 and you notice very little change. Shockingly some of them passed MRI at the time.

Go and look at Iwobi at U16 and look at him now there is clear and obvious difference in the way he look facial skeletal and otherwise.

What is annoying is the hypocrisy we all know that age cheating is rampant, endemic and wholescale across every sector in Nigeria.

Why then do people get up in arms when the issue of age cheating arises, in boisterous denial and hostile indignation.

Yes we now have MRI which has limited the degree of reckless and blatant age cheating that used to go on for years.

That doesn't mean it has now been eradicated yes limited but unfortunately until we have automatic birth data capture. It will always exist.
Why do you keep going back to 2009 when you can easily use more recent crops of 2013 and 2015 as example. Oga, this your stories are becoming trite.

Please start saying new things. undecided
