So let me put that question back to you: how do you define creativity in soccer? Oghenekaro Etebo is a hardworking box to box midfielder but creativity isn't one of his strong points, OK? If you wanna talk about creativity in this current SE team then look at John Obi Mikel, Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses (when he's not dribbling too much), Kelechi Iheanacho, and even Joel Obi. O pari Mickael2: |
Haha!! Safari, I am a big Etebo fan but I definitely know where you're coming from. The way naija soccer fans jump on "bandwagons" is ridiculously funny. Once a player has one or two good games then he's the next best thing! But let him have one poor outing, regardless of the reason, and he's written off completely. Take Ebuehi for instance, after the Argies friendly, he was the best thing since slice bread. But fast forward two months later and he had an average game and folks were already writing him off. They didn't even care that he wasn't 100% fit for that game! But with that said, I still have confidence in Etebo. I think he has shown me enough to believe in him. Go back and watch out first game against Algeria. He was arguably our best player in that game. He had a massive game. O pari safarigirl: |
Wow. This is quite impressive. Eastbrook Ward has the least ethnically diverse populations in the United Kingdom! My cousin lives there. The population make up is over 70% White. In America, even a white goat would be elected over any black person in such a community. Goes to justify my theory that class and status is prioritized ahead of race in Europe, unlike in the United States. In the US, everything is all about race. You can be poor and uneducated but if you're white then you're better than a black person O pari AfricanGlitz: |
Well, he haven't done that in over 5 years. His game these days is to perch around the 18 yard box waiting for Modric, Kroos, and Marcelo to do all the work and then present it on a platter for him so he can tap in ![]() And by the way, I would not stop "hating" on the guy until he acknowledges the truth Leo Messi is the G-O-A-T. O pari Josh64: |

Well, that shouldn't be a surprise. Gary Linker's game is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo; the only thing they contribute to the game is to score goals ... just stalk the last defender and wait for a cheap tap in, that's their game. Take for instance, in the first game versus Bayern Munich, Cristiano Ronaldo only touched the ball 19 times! O pari obaataaokpaewu: |
And he probably purchased most of these cars after he became Senator! #Sh!tholeCountry #FailedState #ZooCountry O pari |
If this game is to be played on May 22nd, then it's probably going to be Athletico's U-23 team or something. I mean, are you guys aware that La Liga isn't ending this weekend? There are still TWO La Liga games left, so the league is probably going to be concluded next weekend. And remember that the Europa league finals is on May 16th. And you'd expect Athletico to rush to Nigeria for a baseless friendly game instead especially considering that many countries gonna need their players to start preparation for the world cup. What am I missing ![]() O pari tbaba1234: |
Of course, Mikel ought to rank behind the likes of Lampard - a Chelsea legend; Makelele who transform the way people play the DM position, and even Ballack. But Mikel shouldn't rank below Meireles. That's outrageous! O pari PDPGuy: |
I think the man just loves his job (coaching). Like he said, he was occasionally owed several months salaries when he was coaching Burkina Faso, but he persisted. O pari PDPGuy: |
What's incorrect? Are you saying that there are no kickback provisions in his contract? Because I knew for sure that there were such provisions in the contracts signed by some of the past foreign coaches. O pari tbaba1234: |
Ogoni tingz O pari Rachelsblog: |
Realistically, Rohr is probably the least paid ... because remember that he still gotta give the vultures at the NFF their own cuts, normally 10% of the quoted salary O pari chrisooblog: |
LOL. Outdated and dilapidated weapons. I have seen better, jare O pari |
Yup. Victory is definitely assured especially with airheads like yourself dominating Nigerian population. Tell me one thing the mugu called Fashola has achieved? He wants people to generate 2megawatts of electricity and sell to the public? And what exactly is his job as the Minister of Power? He wants people to purchase houses with mortgage. And that makes him a genius, right? And by the way, at almost 20% interest rate, how many Nigerians can afford a mortgage loan? Afonja people and their noisemaking sef! That's how they deceive the natives O pari Wiseandtrue: |
Yes, injury is definitely a problem but Joel is one player who would give you a 110% when he's fit. He's also big game player! He reminds me of Emmanuel Amuneke. Unfortunately, such players are very susceptible to injuries because they tend to push themselves way too hard in every game. They don't hold anything back, if you know what I mean. O pari safarigirl: |
Krsto Reskusic must be reading my mind because he had just posted the same thing I have been saying ever since the draw came out. Our fate should be decided after the first game. If we screw it up then it's all over. If we can get a result - any result at all, even a goalless draw, then I like our chances. And I said that because Argentina would've qualified before our last game against them; hence, they may decide to rest some players including Messi. In fact, the only good news that came out of this world cup draw for us is the match schedule. O pari Danielnino00: |
That's good news. I know some folks want to write him off after the Serbia friendly but not me. I know that we're a much stronger team if Joel Obi in the midst and available for selection. O pari tbaba1234: |
Are you serious? Well, if so, then we have to pull out. There's no way we should risk ourselves and our players. O pari Danielnino00: |
Woe-men! O pari |
And you wonder why they still remained the "side chicks" instead of the madam ![]() O pari ogorwyne: |
But it still wasn't a red card incident to me tho. I mean, he kicked out but he didn't connect. Go watch that incident again. He didn't make any contacts with the Greek player. The Greek player sold the ref a dummy! I was actually surprised that Nigeria didn't protest the red card, after the game. O pari Truidstar: |
To answer your challenge/question, sir: Well, you've represented yourself as Komekn when you're actually Forgiveness ![]() Does that one count ![]() O pari komekn: |
Hmmm. I am a big fan of Chidozie Awaziem, but I don't know about that (@the highlighted). Not many players can play the DM role better than Ndidi because he's workhorse - in the mold of Ngolo Kante or Moses Kpakor of Clemense Westerhof era. However, I do agree that Awaziem might provide more creativity in that position but then we'll be missing Ndidi's tackling and ball winning skills. Like I was telling one of my contacts in Barca's Front Office, "Wilfred Ndidi is arguably the best babysitter in the business". Do you realize that Leicester City is totally a mediocre team without Ndidi? That tells you his real worth. O pari forgiveness: |
Good point! There are so many things that can negatively (or in some cases positively) impact a game, including the officiating and even a freak accident/error - remember Sani Kaita (South Africa 2010 World Cup). O pari Truidstar: |
Safari, when you get a chance, email me the link to the Egyptian pundit ![]() Well, coming to his analysis, I think he made a few good points. I laugh each time I see those Euro pundits rating Egypt as the best African team because of Mo Salah. On the contrary, I won't expect much from that Egyptian team in spite of Salah. And I would concur that the only reason they would qualify for the second round is because of their weak group. Even Enugu Rangers can qualify from a group that comprises: Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay. Coming to the other groups, I think Morocco has the best team in Africa. I expect them to qualify along with Spain. Portugal is going home. What are Nigeria's chances? Not too good, if you want to be realistic. On paper we have the 3rd best team in our group. The acid test would be our first game versus Croatia. We're done if we fail to get something out of that match. O pari safarigirl: |
Haha!! That makes two of us, bro. There was quite a substantial amount of assumptions in your post as well. First you presumed that the current crop players are better the players that were available for Keshi, which to me isn't based on reality. As a matter of fact, I would argue otherwise: Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama is better than anybody we have right now. I am quite sure you can't argue that fact. (Advantage Keshi) CBs: Oboabona of 2014 is probably better than Balogun (But let's call these two a wash) Omeruo of 2014 is probably better than Ekong (Let's call it a wash) RBs: I will rate Efe Ambrose of 2014 over Shehu Abdullahi any day (Adv. Keshi) LBs: Oshinawa is better than Echiejile (Adv. Keshi) DMs/CMs: John Obi Mikel is better than Wilfred Ndidi (Adv. Keshi) Onazi of 2014 is better than Onazi of 2018 (Adv. Keshi) AMs/Strikers: VicMo of 2018 is better than VicMo of 2014 (advantage Rohr) Ahmed Musa of 2014 is better than Moses Simon (Adv. Keshi) Emmanuel Emenike is better than Jude Ighalo (Adv. Keshi) Osaze Odemwingie is better than Kelechi Iheanacho (Adv. Keshi) You don see am? The progress we're making with the current team is that we now have a team structure/shape. I mean, we now play under a system unlike during the time of Keshi. In fact, if you were to handover the current team to Keshi (RIP), we wouldn't have qualified in the first place. O pari Certitude: |
Woe-men! Fear them!! That's all I gotta say. *SMDH* O pari |
