A 3 week paid holiday for all the civil servants in Imo state? If this is true then the man needs to undergo a psychiatry examination asap, because I don't believe he's OK. Does he even know that the govt loses a lot of money during public holiday? Does he know that there are tens of thousands of people and business who need govt employees to run their businesses and/or their lives? Nigeria, we hail thee (Welcome to zoo nation) O pari Groovenaija360: The executive Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has directed the civil servants in the state to go home for the Christmas holiday today being Friday, December 22, 2017.
They will resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.
In a statement released,by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, workers on essential duties were exempted from this development.
The release also said that government gives workers in the state workforce reasonable time every Christmas to enable them celebrate with their loved ones.
He said,
“Government has paid salary to workers in the state up to December to enable them also enjoy the Christmas. This is to wish them a blissful yuletide.”

Kenneth Omeruo is a great player. He's just one of those who were at the wrong place and the wrong time. There's no reason why he shouldn't be playing for Chelsea after the monster tournament he had at AFCON 2013. But Jose Mourinho sent him away on loan while retaining someone like Gary Cahill. I said it that time that Omeruo is a far better CB than Cahill! I think that all those loan moves affected his game. It doesn't help your game when you're totally unsettled. O pari goldfish80: Let's not push this. Omeruo's general whoscored stats reads 7.05 while Ekong's stands at 6.90. I wonder how 6.90 is head and shoulders above 7.05 |

I honestly wish that Kelechi had stay at ManCity. First he would be getting more playing time. Secondly, he would be playing with some of the best players on the planet and getting drillings from one of the best coaches in the business. O pari BascoVanVeli: Claude Puel wants Kelechi Iheanacho improvement but will show patience with Leicester City striker
Nigerian is yet to live up to £25m price tag, scoring just once since summer move from Manchester City
Leicester City manager Claude Puel is willing to be patient to see the best of striker Kelechi Iheanacho, but insists he must improve.
The Nigerian is yet to live up to his £25m price tag, scoring just once since arriving from Manchester City in the summer.
Iheanacho was afforded a real chance to impress, against his former club, in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, leading the line with Shinji Okazaki doing the donkey work behind. However, Leicester threatened more when the 21-year-old was replaced by Jamie Vardy in the second half.
But Puel praised Iheanacho’s display and, citing his youthfulness, believes he has the potential to improve.
Puel said: “(Iheanacho) tried, he shoot on target. He had a good opportunity in the first half. He gave his best.
“He’s a young player, he needs to continue to work to improve.
“It was important to see him, to give him game-time. It was a good opportunity for him and other players.
“I was happy with the squad because it was a good level of quality on the pitch and it was a good response after our game against Crystal Palace.”
Although Iheanacho’s goalscoring record at Leicester (one goal in 393 minutes) is some way shy of his Manchester City average (one goal every 100 minutes), he appears to be third in Claude Puel’s striking pecking order.
Jamie Vardy, Leicester’s talisman and top scorer, is the undisputed number one striker at the club, with Shinji Okazaki second thanks to his ability to drop deep and help the midfield.
Despite Leo Ulloa’s return to prominence of late, it was Iheanacho who was selected to start in the Carabao Cup, with Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa out of favour.
Leicester are expected to try to offload attackers in January with Puel regularly referencing the number of strikers he has to accommodate.
For the time being, Puel believes the most important thing for his strikers to do is to maintain their optimism.
“I have a good feeling with the squad,” said Puel. “Kele, like others players, like Slimani, like Musa, they are different players. It’s important for them and for the squad.
“We have a lot of players sometimes in the same position and it’s difficult to manage this. It’s important to keep the positive attitude, for Kele it’s the same thing.”

No, I am insinuating that they didn't NEED to beat us in the last game. It was a mere friendly. And they can beat us in Russia if they need to beat us to qualify. What am trying to say, we should hang our qualification hope on beating Argentina. They are totally a better team than us. Even with all the troubles they had in the SA qualifications, they are still ranked #4 team in the world. Why am I saying all these, I just don't want Nigeria to take Argentina for granted based solely on a meaningless friendly match. Argentina is still a top top team, they are the 3rd country I didn't wanna play - after Brazil and Germany. O pari MetalJigsaw: So what are you insinuating? That the Argentines didn't want to beat us in the previous meeting.? |

And add to the fact that they unjustly deducted points from Argentina. Then include the fact that they unjustly suspended Messi for "insulting the referee", even when the so called insult was not included in the ref's match report. O pari PDPGuy: Argentina struggled because South American qualifying series is way more competitive that the CAF qualifiers. The likes of Ecuador and Venezuela would be regular semifinalists at the AFCON, and would not fail to qualify for the WC if they were in Africa.
Besides, recent history shows that even when the likes of Brazil, Argentina or Germany struggle to qualify (in 2002, 2010 and 2002 respectively) they always turn up at the main tournament.
So, I won’t treat la Albiceleste with kid gloves; although I expect a tight game between the Super Eagles and Argentina. |

I agree that the Argies are frontloaded. I also agree that their defenders are aging and error prone. And I even agree that the Argentina has not played as a team so far ... they struggled thru the South American qualifiers. But you are forgetting three important points in your analysis: a. Argentina would've qualified easily, if they were not unfairly penalized and points deducted from them in the qualifiers. b. For the past 10 years (starting with Diego Maradona's coaching stint), Argentina has not had a good coach. The team has literally been carried by the players, especially one Leo Messi But now they have a pretty decent coach who would have about 2 months to tinker and meld the team before the big dance. c. Any team with Messi should be considered one of the favorites. No one gave them much chance in Brazil 2014, but Messi carried them all the way to the finals and were brutally unlucky not to win it all. Hence, Argentina may be a one man team but when that one man is Leo Messi then there's always a chance. After all, the current Barcelona team is a one man team (Suarez is having the worst slump of his career. Iniesta is not the player he once was. Busquests has slowed down tremendously. So who do they have left - Leo Messi). Finally, the only way Argentina would play with full strength against us in the final game is if they need to win that match to win the group. Other than, they can present their B side ... if they have already won the group, that is. It's only you naija fans who take these friendly matches serious, Argentina don't care. They don't see any rivalry with Nigeria .... Nigeria is yet to beat Argentina in a competitive match, besides age grade competitions. So there's no rivalry here. O pari MetalJigsaw: # Don't be so sure of Argentina winning their first 2 games. They have very good players but only in their frontline. And they aren't that good as a team without king Messi. They are highly dependent on the MESSiah (but I strongly believe we can cage him successfully). This is not Barcelona so Messi won't find it very easy in their first 2 matches especially against Croatia. Remember how ordinary Peru beat them in the qualifiers even with Messi. They could not even beat Venezuela and Bolivia at home with Messi present ( why wouldn't we beat them again?). So to me they're a slightly overrated team right now (a one man team). So don't be surprised if they fail to win their first two matches.
# Moreover, do you think Argentina are going to take it easy when we meetbinvour last group match? They'll certainly go into that game with revenge in their minds. So whether they've already qualified or not they dont care... Theyvwon't take that game lightly with us, so don't take it for granted . They'll want to beat us for a revenge. |

The Argentina you'll see in Russia isn't the same Argentina that struggled in the qualifers. For one, they now have a top notch coach. Write them off at your peril. O pari safarigirl: thank you o.
Some people are already dashing Argentina automatic qualification, same team that needed a result at the final round of qualifiers, sane team that has been struggling since.
And if you ask them why, they will start reeling out all the useless names that were on the team when they were struggling against the likes of Ecuador and Venezuela. |

But it's true. Let's me explain my hypothesis to you: #1. Iceland will be tougher to beat than Croatia #2. Iceland would lose to Argentina in their first game. This is not because they are not good enough but due to rookie mistakes (playing their first ever match in the World cup and coming up against the great Leo Messi) #3. Iceland would be ready when they face us in the second game because they would've corrected the mistakes they made in match 1. #4. If we lose to Croatia, the pressure to beat Iceland would be too much and that would impact our game and get us exposed for them to exploit #5. I believe we can beat Iceland if we could win or draw the first game against Croatia #6. If we win or draw against Croatia, our chances of qualifying from the group would increase to 60%, because the Argies would win their first two games hence they would most likely have qualified before they meet us #7. Hence, here's what we need to qualify: - win or draw against Croatia (preferably win) - win against Iceland - draw against Argentina (or we may even lost against Argentina provided we were able to win our first two matches) O pari MetalJigsaw: Please don't put fear and pressure upon the players and we the fans oo ;DPlease don't put fear and pressure upon the players and we the fans oo |

Nigeria's head coach, German Gernot Rohr reacts, during the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying soccer match between Algeria and Nigeria at Chahid-Hamlaoui stadium in Constantine, Algeria, 10 November 2017.

Former Croatia manager Slaven Bilic has admitted that the European nation faces a tough group at the 2018 World Cup, especially in their opener against Nigeria.
The Croatians have been pooled in Group D alongside the Super Eagles, Argentina and Iceland.
“It seems to me that it is not sufficiently recognised the weight of our group and especially the negativity of the schedule. We have a difficult group and the worst possible match schedule,” Bilić told Sportske Novosti.
“Nigeria at the start when it is, by tradition, the strongest and most difficult. Argentina have a decisive squad, and it would be better if it was in the third when we might have already settled the placement.
“The Icelanders are the third rival, but they have a mentality that even if they have already crashed out, and perhaps just because of that, playing as if their life depends on that encounter.”
Nigeria and Croatia will meet in their Group D opener at Kaliningrad Stadium on June 16.
