Thank you, bruh! I was about to respond to goldfish aggressively but I think you've nailed it for me. There's no need for me to respond any more! O pari tbaba1234: Iwobi had a bad first half, that was clear. Wilshere is playing a deeper role and is not in competition with Iwobi.
Iwobi has not been bad this season. I have seen games where Iwobi is one of the few Arsenal players doing anything of note. But i go online and see ridiculous comments. Sanchez has been far more atrocious but does not get as much stick.
Iwobi needs to convert his game play into goals and assists. Fans do not read stats on whoscored.com, all they see are goals and assists. |

KPOM! I have always insisted that Nigeria would've performed wonders at the 1998 World Cup if Jim Nwobodo had left Trouisser in charge instead of hiring a new coach within months to the world cup. Bora Multinovic (sp) went to took a team he barely knew to the world cup and they predictably under performed. Anybody who knows anything about football can tell you that it takes a minimum of 2 years to build a world cup winning team. And if that coach is a foreigner, then he'd probably need more time. But hey, we made the same mistake in 2010 World Cup. And by the way, I heard it from good authority, that Jim Nwobodo purposely decided to hire a new coach so he could get a kickback. Nigeria, we hail thee .... O pari tbaba1234: A few things.
Between 1994 and 1998, it was difficult to name world class players without including Nigerians.
Oliseh West Finidi Kanu Ikpeba etc
We do not have that now. Nigerians are mostly omitted in that conversation. That is why the 1998 WC team individually has the best quality.
However, in 1994, the team was not yet rated at that level. Because, there appears to be a confusion here. |

The team was not overrated. What I would say is that the team was not well drilled for the World Cup. They were individually talented but not team grooming. Those individual talents, along with a dent of luck, helped us to overcome Spain. The Bulgarian team we met was well past its prime, but we got exposed against Demark. There's no doubt in my mind that the team would've done well if we had stuck with the team who qualified us (Trouisser) but Jim Nwobodo wanted to go with "a world class coach" and bought us Bora Multinovic (sp) a few months to the world cup. Like I have always said, any coach who takes a team with a few months to the world cup is doing it for the money. Bora used us to collect his retirement paycheck. That's what you get when you've zero planning and organization, and depend on a fire brigade approach every time to get results. O pari Icon4s: All those Okafor, Eguavoen, Iroha that you mentioned were not starters in the team.
Yekini was not bad during the qualifiers for the WC. We didn't see him as a player that will be an excess luggage in that WC. So nobody questioned his inclusion.
Yes Amuneke and Amokachi were not at their best but some other players like Ikpeba and Babangida were in blistering form.Recall The CAF APOTY for 1997 was Victor Ikpeba. Okocha had improved, same goes for Kanu Nwankwo. Oliseh had also grown in status and confidence. Celestine Babayaro was one of the most exciting young LBs in England with his modern style of play and goals scoring prowess. Taribo was still solid and very dependable. Garba Lawal , Mr Utility, was at his prime. Wilson Oruma though over shadowed by Okocha was another young enterprising midfielder. Mutiu another utility player was also doing good. Finidi up to 2000 AFCON was still deadly not to talk of France 98.
Our RB was the weakest point as Mobi Oparaku had not raised his game from that of a junior international to a senior international.
About 70% of the Atlanta 96 team played in that France 98 WC. Something very commendable.
That team underachieved in my opinion due to poor preparations. The quality was there. |

That's why it's called A TEAM and not a collection of players. Listen, Navas gets a bad rap but he's a top top quality goalkeeper. he has saved Real Madrid's brushes more than a few times but the fans always pick on him because their mind is fully set on De Gea. That's what happens when management undermines you by consistently talking about another goalkeeper. Umtiti has definitely improved but to call him the best defender in the league is taking too far. He's still get beaten too easily on a one by one duel for my liking. Personally, I will pick either Sergio Ramos and Varane ahead of him O pari SerVik: On present form, Ter stegan is top 5 in the world. Umtiti is arguably the best defender in the league Busquet casemiro is a tough one but I'll go with Busquet. His confidence and composure is unreal. |

Let's agree that Barca, as a team, has generally improved both individually and collectively. Like I said on twitter during the game, Ernesto Velverde is gradually winning me over. Having said that, I have a load of issues with your potential combined Barca/Real first team. So are you telling me that you will start Ter Stegen ahead of Navas? Nah, I don't think so. And how in the world could you select Jordi Alba ahead of Marcelo? Are you freaking me??!! And who would Umtiti replace at the CB? Is it Sergio Ramos or Varane? Oh please! Sergio Busquets? Personally, I would prefer Casemiro but I can give you that ... so let's say arguably Paulinho?? Oh please, don't make me laugh. Who is he gonna replace Kroos? Modric? Ascencio? Isco? Bottom line, only Messi and arguably Busquets would make that team. O pari Mickael2: I am not arguing the fact that Messi makes everyone better but what I am against is you saying everybody else is poor. Messi's presence on the pitch did not help Pique's defensive abilities, like I said everything attackwise moves through Messi and that we cannot argue with, if you remove him the second goal and the third goal wouldn't happen but Barca has the best defensive record in the league, other players need to be appreciated. You can't draw a combined XI without Ter Stegen, Umtiti, Alba, Busquets and personally Paulinho so what's the fuss all about? |

KPOM! I sincerely believe that most coaches would've given him a chance after that monster performance in the AFCON. But I doubt if Borinho was even paying attention. Sometimes it's all about being at the right place and at the right time. O pari TheGoodJoe: It is very sad the way Omeruo's handlers handled him. I feel it is another case of agents/managers more interested in keeping a huge paying contract over finding a way to develop the player.
Omeruo was a bright revelation playing for Keshi at the AFCON. A young player standing tall in a field of Giants. The highlight of his performance in the AFCON we conquered was when he marked out Drogba and Drogba could not muster a shot on target.
And, I doubt Cahill could pull off the feat Omeruo did at the AFCON.
Sad he went downhill from there but his talent showed in the game against Zambia during the qualifiers. The game he made a mistake. Apart from the mistake, I saw a field Marshall.
I hope he finds his form to add to our pool of quality defenders. |

Of course, he is. He would be one of our key players in the Russia. You know, it's too easy to overlook Ndidi's contribution in a game because he's not flashy like Mahrez or Demary Gray but he's the engine room of any the team. Bottom line, if you're a purist like us, you'd need to watch Ndidi to see the whole game. Players of that quality are rare ... right now, I can only think of: Casemiro (Real Madrid); N'Golo Kante (Chelsea) Sergio Busquests (Barcelona); Fernandinho(ManCity); Michael Carrick and Matic (Man Utd). O pari daveP: There are some se players that must not scent injury 2months to the mundial. Is Ndidi part of them? We know who tops this list. |

My point is that Jose Mourinho rarely recalls players from loan. He would rather look for established stars from elsewhere. I don't have much to say about Omeruo's sojourn in the championship since I barely watch championship games; however, based on what I saw of him with the Super Eagles in 2013, I will rate him higher than Gary Cahill. And you can't tell me what national team performance wouldn't count in evaluating a player's ability because Gabriel Jesus did not play any single Euro league match before he was snatched by Manchester City. O pari komekn: You are being evasive and undoubtedly moving the goal post.
I was objectively clear with verifiable fact and asked you to simply say what makes Omeruo great I asked you to be objective and if need be use comparative analysis.
Playing for a very competitive world class star studded Chelsea is not always the end game but how far you can progress in your football career.
It is clear you do not understand the structure and delivery set up for youth players in English professional football clubs. The manager has limited input on loan moves and the club operates a more long term strategy for youth development. Managers who are short term in their delivery are not overly focused on emerging young players unless they are clearly outstanding in comparison to what they have.
List of players who developed at Chelsea when Mourinho was there and have kept developing, Nathan Ake, Traore, Musonda, Solanke, Lukaku, Tega, Aina, Jeremie Boga, Isaiah Brown, Kasey Palmer, Kurt Zouma (19 year old at the time who played 58 games for Chelsea over two seasons under Mourinho) to mention a few.
Omeruo went on loan to Middlesborough for a whole season who according to you he was having the best form of his life, but was far from outstanding in the Championship there wasn't a Que of clubs waiting to sign him. He has been a journey man footballer since now settling down in the mid range clubs of the Turkish division.
So I ask again, you have rated him higher than Gary Cahill, what makes him GREAT.
Please remain objective with verifiable statistics and comparisons. |
