I agree that Mikel lacks the pace of somebody like Michael Essien, but he doesn't really need superb pace to be a world class DM or CM or AM. Jay Jay Okocha didn't have much pace either. O pari TheGoodJoe: Mikel Obi does not play with pace. So, you can not expect him to play like Essien. Essien can create gaps and try to force attacks. When the team loses the ball, he can track back with pace. For Mikel Obi, it is different, he prefers to solidify the defence, keep it tight. He does not take risk with the ball. If Mikel Obi makes mistakes, it is so obvious because it is unusual.
Even Busquets that plays in a highly offensive side does not take much risk. This is due to his ability to play the role without pace.
To you, Mikel Obi should do more. To Gus Hiddink, former coach of Netherlands and Chelsea, Mikel Obi provides the right balance. Just that his contribution is underrated. |

KPOM! And he had the skills to be as good as Pogba if not better. One thing with Africans especially Nigerian players is their tendency to settle and become comfortable wherever they are. If I have the talents of Mikel, I would never have stayed one day on Chelsea bench. And that's because there's no way I would've settled. O pari edi287: This is the truth. Mou expected Mikel to be like Pogba is at the moment. I remember after the Confederations cup he said something like Mikel still doesn't score goals but he's still difficult to get the ball off...subtle hint at him not improving as much as he would've liked all those years. |

And I totally agree with you that he was a pivotal player for Chelsea, when he's allowed to play. But my point is that he could've still done more even as a DM. He has the talent to do more. After he was playing the same role (and at the same time with Micheal Essien), but you can see the difference when Essien plays that role versus when Mikel plays. Again, this is not criticism (OK, you can call it constructive criticism). I just don't like it when black folks don't fulfill their potential. And it happens in all sports not just in soccer. A much less talented white player would stretch himself to max out his potential whereas an overly talented black player can only reach about 50% of his potential. O pari TheGoodJoe: Earn praises does not mean doing more. Mikel Obi might have had more praise singers just as Kevin De Bruyne is getting at City. However, one player that Pep Guardiola can hardly drop is Fernandinho because his role is so vital in keeping us safe. Just as De Jong before him. Yaya, Silva, Nasri and co. earned the praises but lots of City fans knew Nigel De Jong breaking down the attacks of our opponents played a key part to our win.
Mikel Obi was a big part in keeping Chelsea safe while they attacked. It is underrated but what he achieved and his longevity equates to the more you feel he would have achieved. |

Well, here's what I think. I think that Mikel had a great career but he definitely could've done more, if he didn't allow Jose Mourinho to turn him into a rigid and robotic destroyer. Mikel, if he had continued to develop, would have been one of the best offensive midfielders of his generation. O pari TheGoodJoe: Sergio Busquets is Barcelona bred. The Catalans will praise him for his deep understanding of the game. I bet if Mikel Obi was doing what he did at Barcelona, I bet he would have earned reviews.
Makalele did not get praise until Zidane spoke up of his importance. Matic has some screamers in his locker but I doubt anyone is praising Matic to the level of Drogba. He is never going to be a bigger name than Mikel Obi in Chelsea. |

Omo, you don't need to play a flamboyant role to get rave reviews. Think N'Golo Kante, Nemanje Matic; Sergio Busquets; Casimiro; Michael Essien' etc. O pari TheGoodJoe: Mikel Obi did not earn raving reviews because he did not play a flamboyant role but he was influential in Chelsea playing a vital role for the club. During that period, Chelsea was one of the most successful clubs in World football.
Due to his sacrifice for football, people may not be screaming his name but sure, Mikel Obi is one of the biggest icons of African football.
Tell them I said that. |

Wow. Waw!! This kind grammar fit send someone to the emergency room. Folks, if you can't communicate in English please stick with pidgin. O pari Mandynews: According to a friend of the victim: “The story behind the pictures below. So after so much begging and persuasion from this Instagram slay king @therealdato, my friend eventually agreed to go chill with him in an open place in Benin. . . On their way to the said venue, uncle stopped at zoro supermarket to get drinks and when asked why, he said he won’t be chanced later to do the shopping and just wanted to do it now since he’s passing same route and that was how my friend said ok. . . After that, he drove to his house claiming he just wanted to pick up something from the house and drop the drinks as well. Initially she was reluctant about coming down from the car buh uncle kept on talking forming he’s not a baby that they are both mature. . . That if it’s about sex he would just ask her for it dah he’s not like so she should stop acting like a baby and come inside rather than staying inside the car sweating because he will turn of the ignition. . . She agreed and said she was pressed and asked for the rest room, buh immediately she got to the restroom upstairs uncle ran upstairs and locked the door that was when the whole thing became suspicious. . . Immediately she told him to open the door that she wanted to go home buh he refused instead he started playing gospel songs and increased it to the highest. .
He even offered her a drink (chi vita that he drugged) and was forcing her to drink it buh she refused and told him she was watching her weight and when he kept on forcing her to drink it she poured it on the floor and that was how the whole thing started. . . My friend cried and begged this bastard she even told him she had apendix operation to do the next day rather he said her tears was turning him on the more he then tore her clothes and raped her. . . He later dropped her along the road. It was after she reported and investigations were made that these soldiers took up the case. He confessed that he’s been doing it to other girls. Nemesis has finally caught up with this instagram slay king @therealdota.”... Swipe to see their WhatsApp chat

Yea, I am pretty sure that they would play an African country before June. The more I think about that our group, the more I dislike it. But I have confidence in this team. I think Rohr has definitely changed our playing philosophy. I mean, when last (before now) did you see a Nigerian team with only 36% possession scoring 4 goals while winning the game? We will do damage in Russia, if we could perfect that counter attack game plan. O pari Icon4s: Europeans are not like Africans that leave some stones unturned.
Not having any sealed friendlies against any African side yet does not mean they are not taking us too seriously. There is still a window for more friendlies.
That aside, Argentina are the strongest team in our group. So they deserve all the attention. |

If watch them play, Mexico has so many skillful players and they like to move the ball quickly (fasting attacking football). On the downside, they create many scoring opportunities but don't score too many goals because they try to walk the ball into the net. OK, let's just say that they play similar to the Samson Sia Sia's Super Eagles team. But I am not trying to say that they should use Mexico to prepare for Nigeria either. O pari owbabs: How does Mexico play similar to Nigeria?
