Omalicha nwa, listen, Argentina doesn't self destruct like France in the world cup. Remember South Africa 2010? And we were supposed to beat them in Brazil 2014 but, unfortunately, Keshi didn't come with a game plan.

Bro take it from someone who knows, you'll be surprised when you see a rejuvenated Argentine team in Russia. I am actually glad that we're not playing them first .... that would give us a chance to watch them play. Saying that Argentina isn't gonna make it out of group D is not realistic. Our best option is to beat Croatia.

And in addition, I am picking Messi to win it all this time, so what do you expect to say? grin

Bro, in 1994 Bulgaria came 2nd in our group but they ended up winning the bronze medal. Whereas we who finished 1st crashed out in the round of 16. So it doesn't really matter who finished first or second ... as long as you're moving thru.

Good point.

But just to be clear: I have already predicted that Spain and Morocco are going to advance from group B. And that has nothing to do with African solidarity either. I think Portugal is overrated and too highly ranked. The Euro win was a fluke and hopefully they would be exposed in Russia!

O pari

Icon4s:
Don't blame them. Just like if you are asked who would qualify from Group B I am sure you'll pick Spain and Portugal but the Moroccans would believe they can go through.

But from my experience of past WCs, upsets do happen. Costa Rica topped a group that had Italy and Spain the last time.

This world cup would be explosive. So many teams are in form and there are no weak teams except maybe Panama.

The Argies are topping this group. We'll qualify as the second team. I don't mind playing France in the round of 16. We'll be ready for them. Names don't play football .... France will self destruct as usual.

That's a pretty tough group but our group is still more tricky.

First, everyone needs to forget this last friendly because the Argentina you will see in Russia would be a totally different team. In addition, we tend to find it tough against Latin American teams compared to Euro teams, so I don't mind playing Germany ahead of Argentina.
Croatia is talent loaded team. Demark is a pretty strong team but I would take them over Croatia any day.
Mexico has the talent but they can't score to save their lives. I don't mind playing them in place of Iceland, believe it or not.

I was talking in terms of the teams to give us the toughest games. Uruguay is an aging team. Anyway, I think Icon4s nailed it. Teams most likely to accept a friendly with us those that have African teams in their groups.

Friendlies are a two way thing. You must also be attractive to your opponents in friendlies.

Colombia are playing Senegal, they would want to have a meeting with us in a friendly. They would also be a good South American test in preparation for Argentina.

Brazil are not playing any African team so Nigeria will not be of interest to them.

Poland is playing Senegal, so Nigeria would be attractive to them. They would also be attractive to us in preparation for Croatia and Iceland.

Germany are not playing any West African team and so Nigeria may not be attractive to them. Although Rohr may just influence this but it will not be of much benefits to Germany.

Yup. Same here. Portugal is an aging team and totally overrated by FIFA ranking. I could've guaranteed, at a minimum, a second place finish if we were in any other group - including group B. Trust me, I love Arsene Wenger to death and I would never accuse him of racism in any way, shape or form. However, those are the facts. Facts are facts. And you can't deny facts.

There's what we call "unconscious bias". Some of these managers are NOT doing it to be racist or because they are racists, but sometimes their perceptions .... the way they analyze things can be colored based on the individual concerned.

Question marks over Nigeria's defence

John Bennett

BBC World Service

They'll have the youngest squad in Russia and it's a new generation of talent that is giving the Nigeria fans real hope for the future. There is competition for places in attack with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo and Victor Moses who was their best player in qualifying playing in a more advanced role than at Chelsea.

Captain John Mikel Obi and Wilfried Ndidi also give them a lot of solidity in midfield. There are questions marks about their defence and the goalkeeper but a 4-2 win over Argentina last month made a lot of people stand up and take notice of this Nigeria team. German head coach Gernot Rohr is a calming presence in the dugout and they've already agreed their bonuses, so there should be no repeat of the money rows in Brazil.

He should forget the passport and resurrect his career first. And I agree that his game is more suited for the leagues of La Liga or Bundesliga. But even if he wants to stay in EPL, I am pretty sure that there are quite a few teams that can take him up on loan: Everton still needs a top striker. And I am sure that folks like Big Sam and Alan Pardew would like to work with him too. Pardew is little crazy but he's a damn good coach. I definitely won't mind KC playing for him.

O pari

TheGoodJoe:
The only reason I can opt for Nacho staying at Leicester City is if he is waiting to get a passport. Apart from that, a move out of the EPL seems a better option to me.

I will prefer Nacho a regular sub in clubs like Ajax, Villarreal, Valencia, Benfica, Dortmund etc. Clubs with history of playing free flowing attacking football and create lots of chances.

Look at how Traore used Ajax to springboard his career. He must have learnt a lot about the technical side of the game at Ajax, making him an asset to whichever manager that signs him.

I do not trust EPL clubs due to the coaching instability.

Bros, are you kidding me??

Dennis Bergkamp was great player. I wasn't gonna argue that but, at the time we're talking about, he was on his last legs - when Kanu came to Arsenal. And based on productivity alone, he shouldn't be starting ahead of an inform and red-hot Kanu Nwankwo. Yes, in Arsenal, Wiltord played as a support striker to Thierry Henry. So he was a direct competitor to Kanu.

Victor Obinna started pretty hot at West Ham. He might not have scored many goals but he was definitely one of their best players for the first couple of months after he joined. I am not here claiming that Obinna was world class but he did have a few good weeks and was definitely good enough to start for that West Ham team.

O pari

bros, this your post get as e be, to start with wiltord was a winger, Kanu doesn't even come close to bergkamp that's just the truth bergkamp once came third in the FIFA World Best, okocha was battling with injuries towards the end of his Bolton career and he didn't exactly play a huge part in hull city's promotion he played 18 times with no goal, mostly coming from the bench and nsofor lighting up the epl? very funny. that guy was at best average. let's stop talking like only Nigerians are blacks playing in the epl, what I know is if you are good you'll play and if you are not you'll tey for bench

KPOM!

Like I had said before, my sources told me that senior players are running the show at Leicester City. Players like Vardy, Mahrez, Morgan etc. decide who plays. It's a well known fact that these Leicester players decided not to play for Claudio Ranieri in his second season because he wasn't keeping faith with the old players. He was accused of playing guys like Musa and Slimani ahead of the likes of Demari Gray, Albrighton etc. And by the way, I think they had just played the same card with Shakespeare as well grin

I was never in support of Kelechi joining Leicester city. If you go back, you'd see that I was hoping that he would join anything but Leicester and/or West Brom. Anyway, I think the best thing for KC right now is to request a January loan move.

O pari

TheGoodJoe:
My standard, before critiquing a player and run him down, give him five games. That is my personal term for a run of games. The people at Leicester City know if they give Nacho a run of five games, he will deliver. As I said, his quality is not a doubt.

By the way, the point of a player losing value based on not having a good season is based on newspaper hype, which to me is thrash and means nothing. What matters is the person's quality. When a good player gets a run, watch the same papers who ran the player down form a choir to praise him.

What Nacho needs is to keep working hard. His chance will come and he will take it. For now, he should put over a hundred percent every time he hits the training pitch. Train as if his career depends on each training.

It be like say he wan spoil market for some of these "mega pastors". Their private jet money is on the line grin

But on a serious note sha, tithing should be a personal thing between a man and his God. When we (real Christians) give - whether tithe or offering; we give for two reasons:
#1. We give because we love God. Giving is the evidence of love; hence, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe him Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
#2. We give because God has blessed us so, out of the abundance of what He had given us, we give to show appreciation for all His blessing.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m):
I totally understand what you're saying, but I will still insist that our players are not given as much chances as an average European or even Latin American player. The pattern has been so consistent for anyone who's been paying attention not to notice. Go and take a look at the history of our players vis-à-vis their average Euro competitors:

Kanu Nwankwo was killing it at Arsenal but barely get a chance to start. Players like over the hill Dennis Bergkamp and headless chickens like Sylvain Wiltord were often preferred ahead of him.
Jay Jay Okocha - for over 2 years, Jay Jay set the EPL on fire. But once he hits a short rough patch, the big Sam relegated him to the bench and took the captainship away from him. Next thing you hear, JayJay was sold to Hull City. Funny thing was thing Jayjay helped Hull to gain promotion while Bolton got relegated. Talk about "karma".
Victor Obinna Nsofor - literally set the EPL on fire when he joined West Ham. Had two bad games and never smelled the starting line up again until he was sold!
Victor Moses - Liverpool as a team was having a bad season after selling Suarez, the entire team was piss poor. But who got all the blame? Victor Moses ... sentenced to the bench and left there to rot until he left for West Ham.

You argued that Kelechi doesn't have the pace of Vardy nor does he have the physicality of Okazaki or even Islamani (*I laugh*). But then this begs the question, why did Shakespeare decide to buy Kelechi when he knew (or ought to know) that he doesn't have the qualities he needed? And how could he (or anyone) have reached that conclusions when they have given Kelechi barely anytime to play? Why not start him for 5 consecutive games and see whether he's able to perform?

Again, I am NOT crying racism here but these are just the FACTS that anybody should ignore.

O pari

komekn:
Football is a short term vocation in the space of one season of poor performance and a player can loose 75% of his value.

You are only as good as your last game a few months of poor performance and you can be forgotten a whole season and you can be archived.

70% of coaches in the EPL and Championship willl get thier jobs by network. At this stage of the game race will be a big issue. However, those dynamics are very different around the London city Region where at Tottenham for instance half the coaches are black.

When it comes to Management that figure becomes very skewed and racism is alive well and kicking. What many of you do not realise those figures are a representative reflection of senior level executive management positions across the UK.

How many of the 000's of black and or Nigerian qualified doctors and managers become executive directors in the NHShuh How many black and or Nigerian over qualified comparative to thier white pears, black and or Nigerians are executive directors of Banks, BBC, Central and Local government, etc, etc in the UK. I can go through nearly every sector and you will find the same observation. So whether you were born in England or not your black and not really British unless you want to decieve yourself.

However, when it comes to player selection racism is not as pronounced. Managers in General (there are exceptions) will choose the best players they can get period. I know of a number of football club academies that will target black players for thier athleticism.

With regards to KC this has nothing to do with racism. Simply put KC does not have the primary attributes to succeed as a striker at Leicester City. Which is what the Leicester bought him for to be a striker.

KC does not have the pace of Vardy to lead the front line, he does not have the physicality to leasd the front line comparative to Okazaki and or Islamani. Some may not like to be told that KC lacks the technical superiority, skill and trickery comparative to Mahrez and Grey. So if you were a manager would you be choosing him over these players. He has been given opportunity but has fallen short, in the EPL you don't get a lot of time. Now he must work increase Bristol capacity learn to use his right foot change his style of playing adapt otherwise it's down hill.

When KC was at City he was surrounded by world class midfielders who compensated for his short comings and played to his strengths. That not withstanding he lacked the pace of Sane, Gabriel and Raheem. Games are won with small margins of competitive advantage. KC did not bring those advantages to the table to the standard required by City. However, he might do it for someone else hence the buy back clause which is about taking a chunk of any possible future transfer fee.

KC has been lucky to have the opportunity to be playing for the SE. And doing well. However, that doesn't mean someone else given the same opportunity may not have done better.
