Success ke? Do you know how many times they have booed him at Santiago Bernabéu? That's his own fans booing him, mind you! Don't get me wrong, he has had a few great games but he hasn't really set La Liga on fire like he did in the EPL. I may be biased but I think that he's yet to reproduce that form that made Madrid to break the bank for me - make him the world's most expensive player at that time. O pari Mickael2: And who said Gareth Bale hasn't been great for Madrid? Last season when Ronaldo was injured/suspended Bale literally carried the team towards the title. He has scored important goal. I agree with you. That's why we're all praying that Aina would be comfortable playing LB because Echiejile would get us badly exposed in Russia. Problem is, Ola Aina is a natural RB and I don't like people being made to play in makeshift positions, especially in a big tournaments like the world cup. O pari MetalJigsaw: About Echiejille's position I just hope Rohr is aware its our weakest link in the team. That guy has no business starting our matches |

First, if not for injuries, Aguero would've been the top EPL scorer two seasons ago. Last season Lukaku should've won it, if not that some teams let Harry Kane run up the scores. Secondly, most of his goals are usually tap ins .... reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo, in his 30s O pari Xzbit91:

You must be joking comparing the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Kylian Mbappe and Costa.
Do I need to remind you he is the top goal scorer in the EPL for two consecutive seasons and well on his way to a third golden boot barring any injuries come end of season.
Messi and Cr7 are not pure strikers. On few occasions where Ronaldo has been played as a striker, he always flops.
Right now, the only centre forwards that can go toe to toe with him are Lewandowski, Cavani and Aubameyang. The rest do not even come close. |

Then una go know say fowls, dem dey get nyash! I still remember saying that Gareth Bale wasn't world class and would get exposed in La Liga, but the British pundits keep promoting him until he went to Real. The rest, they say, is history! O pari Mickael2: Haba. Oga fear God, fear God! Cavani and Mbappe better than Kane? Griezman who isn't even a top 9 is better than Kane there? Giroud keeps Mbappe on the bench. Aguero better than Kane? Maybe as a volleyball player but not as a 9. What has Gabby Jesus achieved exactly? This guy has won the Epl's golden shoe, scored 29goals in 26 Epl games, haba give him credit once na. |

Good point. But if Etebo goes to #11, he would be playing a different role from the way Simon Moses plays that position. Etebo would be playing there as a second striker. His job would be to slide in and hassle defenders .... make a nuisance of himself and either score goals or create opportunities for our #9 to score. Unfortunately, we gonna need an overlapping LWB, which we don't have at this time, to play that system effectively. O pari MetalJigsaw: Good idea but but can Etebo dribble like the two Moses do? that's a vital ability a winger must possess. Simon Moses constant start for the team is due to his dribbling ability. |

I haven't watched Aluko since his club got demoted to the Championship. but I gotta admit that he impressed me on a few occasions he was invited to SE camp. Not sure if I would make him my playmaker though. He strikes me as more of a worker than a creator. Joel Obi is class, but he's rarely healthy. O pari komekn: I would rather have Sone Aluko in that role, I just feel brings more attacking threat. I also feel Joel Obi brings much needed quality into the midfield as well. We need Mikel but his lack of pace means he can only play AM. |

Actually, I can give you 10 names. Please don't tell me that you'll rate Harry Kane above the likes of Sergio Aguero, Griezeman, Lewandowski, Gabriel Jesus, Edison Cavani, Diego Costa, Kylian Mbappe, etc. Note, I specifically left out Messi, Cristiano, Neymar etc. Listen, I give Mauricio Pochettinno a great deal of credit because the fact is: Harry Kane is playing way above his potential. Kane would be a failure if he leaves Spurs or if Poch leaves. Mark my word! O pari Xzbit91: What Can you mention top5 strikers in the world right now without mentioning Harry Kane? I agree. Etebo is a utility player but I don't see him as a playmaker. I don't think he has the skills and the flair to spray passes and make dribble runs even in tight corners like Mikel or Iwobi. If I were advising Rohr, I'd suggest that we move Iwobi to the middle and Etebo should attack from the left AND VicMo on the right. Simon Moses can come off the bench. O pari Icon4s: At the level we are presently, Etebo is not creative enough to function as the AM(number 10).
The role belongs to Mikel and or Iwobi. |

I think that all the accolades he's getting at Leicester is beginning to get into his head little by little. He feels that he's one of the big boys now and sometimes you'd see him strolling thru a game without giving you a 100% effort. Watch him at Leicester and you'll see all the fights and hustles, but watch him for the Super Eagles and you can barely see him tracking a 50-50 ball. I would like for Rohr to put him on the bench briefly so learn one or two things. That would bring back the hunger. O pari Mujtahida: Yeah, there's something not quite so energetic or vibrant about Ndidi when he plays for Nigeria. Also Etebo can play as the AM with Mikel and Onazi behind. Wait ooo are only going to be playing 4-3-3? What of other formations? It's like 4-4-2 is slowly fading away. |

Yea, I think Iwobi would be great in the #10 role. He plays it very well for Arsenal, whenever he has a chance. As regards to Mikel and Onazi, I won't mind that combo either especially considering the the way Ndidi plays for the Super Eagles. O pari Mujtahida: Seriously I am hungry to see Iwobi play from the middle and like you said the earlier he begins to warm into the role, the better for us. We've not tried Ndidi - Mikel in the double pivot role as against Mikel - Onazi. I prefer Onazi to Ndidi for now as a constant in the pivot role. I hope I don't start an Ndidi/Onazi debate. Onazi is just my preference. |

No, don't get me wrong, I wasn't talking about Rohr getting bribed or anything. I am most concerned about his employers: the NFF. He might receive an order "from the above" to invite certain players - players that he didn't really want, but might be pressured to invite them. That's the Nigerian factor that I was talking about. O pari soetanoreoluwa: I think and I believe to some extent.. Coach Rohr will try not to yield to agents.
First according to him.. He said he has witnessed firsthand bribery and he yielded not...
Two.. Coach Rohr is a okay man... I think he's wealthy... According to some report.. Not really sure... Said he had an hotel in France
Three.. This SE job mean alot to him and his career let not forget he was embarrassed in Tunisia by one of the club...
Forth.. He was working with German football team think their youth team before the SE job... Definitely he knows what he is doing..
Most issues that can't cause palava for him.and his players ..
Are salary issues... And he said he doesn't care about it and I read somewhere that his contact has been extended for another two years.. And he has been paid three month upfront salary... That means his fine
Two... Team spirit which is working so hard to achieve I think he learnt that during his coaching career in Tunisia when he was labeled as coach without a team spirit... Players lacking discipline...
Three.. He is somehow discipline... Yes we might not read that.. Cos he doesn't curse his players in front of media.. And I read some where when he said one of his players sent message to him through whatsapp before Zambia match ..telling him coach Zambia match is done... He said he need to call the player and warn him not to do that again...
Player bonus... According to NFF. And with the money they receive From FIFA.. NFF said they are going to have meeting with the players before the end of the year to discus the bonus...
We re good to go... My opinion though |

Well, let's hope so. Because I am worried about the way we do things in Nigeria. Rohr has consistently invited players on merit since he started coaching the Super Eagles but, now that we've qualified, I won't be surprised if we begin to see strange names on the invite list. All the godfathers that full the NFF would start to submit their own lists as well. Rohr might submit one list and what shows up on the final list may probably have two or more names that materialized out of "nowhere". Mark my word! O pari Dedebanky85: He still has about three weeks. It's normally 2 weeks to game day and Rohr has always waited till last minute. So I'm looking forward to the week of the 1st till the 4th of Nov. It should be out by then. Argentina just rushed and released theirs. Dunno know y. Algeria hasn't even released theirs yet. |

Good point! It's not really Mikel, per se. rather the role he play. I don't think we have another playmaker in this team. Alex Iwobi has the quality and the skillset to be a playmaker but we kept playing him on the flanks. If I have access to Rohr, one suggestion I would make to him is: move Mikel to DM with Ndidi (Onazi can come off the bench) and play Iwobi in the #10 role. If he starts now to play that role, he would perfect it before the world cup. O pari Mujtahida: He is the last of the maestros. There's a nagging problem which I think Rohr has to address quickly not even till we get to the World Cup. How do we remain vibrant when Mikel is substituted or when he doesn't play. Who is the big game player to step things up. Onazi and Echiejile didn't live up to the billing against SA. What is to be done? |

England players would never amount to anything in world football as long as the British pundits keep over rating them. Most of them are average at best but these pundits make them feel like world class. I was watching Spurs vs Liverpool last Saturday and I almost turned off my TV when I heard the match analyst telling the whole world that Harry Kane is already at Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's levels! Can you imagine? Harry Kane who can't dribble to save his life being compared with the GOAT like Leo Messi!! What an insult !!! Very well said, bro! In fact, the 1994 team would've reached the finals of that world cup if not for Stephen Keshi's treachery. It's not good to speak ill of the dead but I had made similar statement when he was alive as well. Keshi grew resentful when Westerhof decided to bench him for Chidi Nwanu, so he started to create division in the team. First, after the first game, he conspired with the players to starve Rasheed Yekini of service. As a matter of fact, he himself had even publicly confessed to this allegation. Secondly, a couple of days before the round of 16 match against Italy, Westerhoff tried to bring orderliness in the camp by moving the team to another hotel; but Keshi and Daniel Amokachie rebelled and refused to leave. The resultant confusion made them to miss several training sessions and hence didn't had the best preparations before playing Italy. Those are the major reasons why we lost that match. O pari Kog45: Players selection,we should be careful with our players selection, d best should be picked and d bench must be strong.During preparation to US 94 Westerhoff make sure all positions were well covered up.
Despite winning Afcon,Westerhoff was'nt satisfied with his CB coz Keshi has lost form due to knee injury and Uche Okafor was a suspect, this paved way for unwanted Chidi Nwanu to make d team. Also Ugbade was dropped for Emenalo, one of d best tactical decision by Clemens Westerhoff coz Iroha couldn't finish our first match and ruled out of WC due to injury
I believe US94 team should serve as an example to this team.Rohr should fix d grey area is having issues and no sentiments should override his judgements on any players, remember sentiments override Westerhoff judgment regards Siasia brawl with Olishe and it affected our match plan against Italy. |

That's what's killing naija footie - bribery! The PE teacher, Festus Onigbinde, turned the Super Eagles camp into a business center prior to Japan - Korea World Cup. He was literally charging players for an invite. As a matter of fact, I nicknamed him Mr. $10,000 per junk player. We all know how Efe Sodjie made it to the world cup! In 2014, Keshi did exactly the same thing. Many of the players he invited didn't make sense. He policy was quite simple: once I get my first eleven, I can use the other slots to make some quick bucks. Samson Siasia and Sunday Oliseh were the same way, especially when it comes to agents running the show. I just pray and hope that Rohr would have the backbone to call them bluff this time around. O pari safarigirl: I'm glad this team is doing well so far, however, I must warn Ror that these coming months will be the most trying period of his coaching career because THEY will come. Agents, players, the press, hell, family members even...and everyone will be trying to secure a slot, he will be toasted heavily and he will need a strength of mind to overcome the pressure and swim with half of this current team. |

” We have some players who have shown some interest and commitment in playing for us, we are going to meet with them soon. I think four of them, and they have all represented England at youth level “, the spokesman of the NFF told Owngoalnigeria.com.”
No fresh talks with Abraham, because we already know where we are with him, but we can’t reveal it now just the same way I can’t tell you the name of the players we plan to hold talks with before the end of the year”, he remarked.

How could they go there without a position paper? What did they think that they were going for? Junketing Here's what really happened in Aburi because I have heard it directly - as discussed by the eye witnesses: The Nigerian govt went to Aburi and accepted all the proposals, as discussed in the meeting. But when they returned home, the British High Commissioner went to talked Gowon out of it. Bingo! You nailed it with the stereotypes craps! In those days, anytime our coach talk about my game, his favorite adjectives were always "you're "big, strong, athletic" .... blah blah blah! He has never use the word skillful or talented to describe me! But he uses those words all the time when he talks about some of my team mates, especially the white folks. And you're quite correct .... these people can be very subtle. I don't consider myself naïve, but it took me more than one year (two seasons) to actually realize the hidden agenda behind most of his "constructive criticisms". And that happened after another kid from Africa (Kenyan) became part of the team, then a pattern began to emerge. It was quite an eye opening experience for me, I gotta tell ya! O pari tbaba1234: Racism in the US is not always direct. It is often subtle. It is when you have lived long that you start to notice the signs and shut it down when possible. Sometimes, people grow up with stereotypes of what black people are like and run with it. It is systemic. I live in the east coast too. |
