Mickael2, like most football analysts, I think you're underestimating the level of Nigerian players due to the football clubs they play or do not play for. A few years ago I published an article in a Naija daily regarding a peculiar Nigerian perspectives in football. Take this for instance, when the Nigerian U-23 team lined up at the China Olympics soccer event final, the profile of the players could not have been more different from their Argentine counterparts: At CD Argentina had Ezekiel Garay of Real Madrid, Nigeria had Dele Adeleye from the bench of dutch basement club Sparta Rotterdam. Just over a year ago, he was at Shooting Stars, oscillating between Division 1 and 2. At LB, with the responsibility of marking the dreaded Leo Messi; yes Lionel Messi of Barcelona, was Chibuzor Okonkwo from Bayelsa United, a right footed player converted to LB. In CM, where Argentina had Riquelme, Gago and Mascherano, arguably the best DM in the world at that time, Nigeria presented Ebenezer Ajilore of Mydjtilland and from the bench at Sparta, Sanni Kaita. A few years ago, Ajilore plied his trade at Ebiede Babes, a Lagos youth club. But as the game unfolded, the confidence of the Nigerian players and the cautious approach their opponents showed, belied the reputation and CV of Argentina's players. This effectively proved two things, if you can believe it: (i) that the club status of the Nigerian players does not accurately reflect their real quality; and that (ii) a new measure is urgently required to determine the quality of our players; one that is not entirely dependent on the judgement of European club managers whose philosophy of the game and needs, vis a vis their clubs, may not necessarily be in alignment with the development of the average Nigerian player, or the SE. O pari Mickael2: hahahahahahhhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahaahahahahahahahhahahaahahahahhahahahahahahahahha

He's better than Paco Alcacer, Deulofeu, and I may even start him ahead of the misfiring Luis Suarez. O pari Mickael2: so.....who will he bench in Sevilla? Guedes? Zaza? Rodrigo? |

Puel is a good coach but I am not sure if the Leicester big boys (Vardy, Mahrez, Wes Morgan etc) would let Kelechi play if he's not in the clique. O pari TheGoodJoe: Give Puel time. I wouldn't mind a loan move either. But for him to become a bench warmer at a football like Leicester is unacceptable. He's too good a player for that. I am not a big believer in learning by sitting on the bench especially when you're more than good enough to start. And by the way, I think he can start for a club side like Valencia or even Seville. Kelechi Iheanacho is a top player, folks! Let's not forget that. It's one thing to be benched by world class talents like Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, but sitting on the bench for the likes of Okazaki is unacceptable. O pari safarigirl: is this how he will be leaving every team that doesn't play him?
Do you think he would have a starting shirt in Valencia easily?
See ehn, I like Kelechi well well, but thia idea of him jumping ship every time things get tough is a terrible one. You cannot learn if you keep jumping ship like that.
The best thing you guys can ask is that Leicester loan him out in January, not an outright sale. A loan move is the best he can and should get and even that seems like a cowardly move to be honest.
We need to stop pushing him to leave every club, it's an unhealthy behavior. Leave am, make e dey there. He chose Leicester, let him deal with his choices like an adult |

But how do you know that his time would ever come? Are you aware of the number of players who killed their careers simply by moving to the wrong football club? Most recently names like Wilfried Bony and Sadio Berhino would come to mind. Abeg, Kelechi is too good a player to stay on the bench in a club like Leicester. Once he becomes a Leicester City bench warmer, it would be very difficult for him to get a contract at a decent football club. O pari enomakos: he shall remain with leicester, his time will come ahmed is the one that need to leave |

Did you see the type of quality pass that Nacho just gave to Vardy. It would've been goal #3 for Leicester. Trust me, that's what a team like Leicester is lacking - players with quality to give them that moment of magic. They have it in Mahrez but Nacho can give them another option, if the cabal will let him get playing time. O pari TheGoodJoe: Nacho needs to work hard to be as good as some of the best in the game. If he gets to that level, it will be difficult for the coach to leave him out if he wants results. The Premier League is no more easy to over look quality. |

Here's the two reasons why I would like him to leave though: 1. I don't think that the EPL suits his game that well. I think his skills would show better in La Liga or Ligue 1. 2. The Leicester team is full of cliques. Remember that the team conspired to get rid of the Tinker Man merely because he kept playing Musa and some other new players ahead of their favorites like Demary Gray, Albrigton etc. So unless Nacho joins the clique, he might not get much playing time despite how hard he trains. That's one reason why I kept suggesting that he joins Everton instead of Leicester. O pari TheGoodJoe: Let the young man stay and learn. Puel looks a coach who knows what his doing and with a right balance for the rotation of his squad. |

I agree but "high work rate" isn't everything. You still need quality. If they have to play 4-4-2, I think Kelechi ought to start along side Vardy. Or else, Vardy should go to the bench and Kelechi should play at the top. Either way, Kelechi is too good to be on Leicester's bench. O pari TheGoodJoe: Work rate. Okazaki has high work rate and keep in mind Puel is searching for the right balance and also consider the threats of the opponents.
Nacho should keep working hard and make the most of the chances he will get. |

There's no earthly reason why Kelechi Iheanacho should not be getting playing time on this mediocre Leicester team.
I think he should seek a January transfer right away. Get out of the EPL pronto. Go show his skills in La Liga or Ligue 1

Forgiveness, here's the fact: Rohr has observed both players at close quarters (in training) and, at the end of the day, he decided to give Onyekuru another chance to stake his claim. So just hang on, all things being equal, Kayode would still get once more chance to impress before the World Cup. Mark my word! O pari forgiveness: Don't deceive yourself the Onyekuru I saw against PSG is very poor technically and if he doesn't improve can't stay long in limelights.
However, he is not in the same league with Kayode. Kayode is far better than Onyekuru. |

Actually, I have never called for Nwakali's invite. However, if the coach wants to try him out then he deserves a chance. You guys are making it sounds like Kayode has never received an invite. Rohr had invited the boy, watched him in training .... watched him play and apparently decided to go in a different direction. O pari Mujtahida: So going by what you just said now, what has Nwakali done that he should be invited. Is he better than Mikel, Onazi, Ogu, Agbo, Ndidi, Esiti, Agu?. I am not for or against Kayode nor for or against Chidiebere. You should just justify why for purely footballing reasons Nwakali is called but not Kayode who last season was a hit in Austria and a hit also over the two seasons he spent in Isreal. |

Gotcha! Sorry, I haven't been following the full discussion. I thought you were trying to say that he was being blacklisted or anything .... because Rohr has had a free hand to select his team so far (but that situation might change now that we've qualified for the world cup). And in addition, Kayode has been invited and tried out by Rohr. Anyway, I agree with you 100% that his non-invite doesn't have anything to do with tribalism. And I am going to fall on anybody like a tonne of bricks if I hear them bringing the tribalism crap to the current Super Eagles team. Gernot Rohr is neither a Yoruba man nor an Igbo man, so mek una keep that tribalism nonsense in check! O pari Kog45: My man my point is cleared,I want to debunk an insinuations that non invitation of Kayode was based on tribalism, nobody is arguing may be he is better than Ighalo, Iheanacho, Vic Moses.
Nobody w force any player on Rohr when the coast is cleared the best w be selected and may be he is better than Simeon Moses or Oyekwuru is non of my business,it's left for Rohr to decide if he get another opportunity.
Uzoho had two matches in LA liga got a call up meaning Rohr is watching,,its left for Kayode to prove himself in LA liga to get another call.
It's just too glaring some need to work hard and some already have the pedigree,so Kayode belonged to set of players that need to work hard to be in the team.
If Nwakaeme can make it playing in Isreali league or sometimes Aaron Samuel who hasn't done much this season so why not him.
Mind you his exploit in Austria league was not a joke,it gave him a contract with man city before he got his loan to Girona.
I watched him against Deportivo and am highly impressed,he deserves a place in the squad with what i saw and Uzoho against Girona despite conceding two goals, the guy looked mature in the game and thank God he was rewarded with invitation. |

Abeg, let us move on to players that have us in mind, I am tired of discussing all these useless English boys.
And please, nobody should blame Pinnick for anything. Nobody should also say the English FA would have held down his career. Last I checked, England is not the only country that has a good league, and if he was that great, he would have shone in other leagues even if England tried to stifle his career.
Forget pressure or any other nonsense excuse, this boy had England on his mind and used the Pinnick ish to bring attention to himself. If Nigeria had been his top choice at any point, he would have shunned their pressure like Iwobi did.

Big Joe, you gotta be smarter than that. You gotta take everything (and I mean everything) you read here with a big dose of salt. From everything I know, Kayode isn't making the Super Eagles team purely for football reasons. Having watched him a couple of times, there's no doubt in my mind that Simon, Kelechi, Ighalo, Onyekuru, and VicMo are better. Forget what he did in Austria, let him replicate that form in La Liga. Like we say in football, the name of the game is, "What have you done for me lately". O pari Joebie: Very insightful! We are a sentimental nation. So things like this are always bound to happen. It doesn't stop the coach from pressing for who he really wants. Enyeama will be back in the team despite all the talk of forces against this and that. The coach knows that he alone gets the knocks if he fails. |

You hit the nail squarely on the head right there! I think our coaches are intimidated by the big players, so they tend to use this passive aggressive crap to maintain management control. The second reason is that these coaches - from Keshi to Siasia down to Oliseh - are player agents. Sometimes they invite these players purely for business reasons, if you know what I mean. O pari Icon4s: You now see why Oliseh failed?
Meanwhile players like Leone Balogun, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses were available for selection. That was my major headache with Oliseh and Keshi. For one flimsy reason they will be having issues with big players and then dropping them for some home based players probably just to spite the big players.
Go and look at the list with which we played Tanzania in Dar es Salam enroute qualification for the 2017 AFCON and you will see why we did not make the AFCON. That draw in Dar es Salam really blew up our chances. |

The way wey una dey talk like say na Buffon and De Gea don dey keep for us since....the Super Eagles quality goalies, were they having constant clean sheets? In fact, it was a TRADITION that we MUST collect at least one each game. Ezenwa was probably the first goalie that kept a clean sheet for us in a competitive game in years.
Enyeama was collecting from the likes of Ethiopia and Lesotho sef.
