Haha @O pari. You don kolo finis be dat one.

Yea, my bad, I haven't followed the argument you were trying to make on this topic. However, what I was just trying to argue against is the tendency of some forumers to bring down one player so they can promote their preferred players. But I do apologize tho, if that's not what you were trying to do here.

O pari

goldfish80:
Well, you let sentiments get the better part of you. Obviously, you were not following my line of convo with Joebie. I specifically replied his comment that Akepyi was not highly rated in South Africa. And the truth is that Ikeme is not exactly highly rated in the championship.
Your arguments that I was trashing Ikeme would have been valid if I doctored those videos, but they are as real as they come.

If you come carry am for head like gala. Na you sabi.

Some of you guys are horrible....horrible!!!

So you have to trash Ikeme just so you can defend Akpeyi? Unbelievable!

Listen, every goalkeeper, even the best goalkeeper in the world, makes mistakes. The problem we have with Akpeyi is that he lacks the basic fundamentals of a good goalkeeper. He flaps basic crosses. Can't defend his area. Lacks basic command of his zone. Lacks confidence in goal.

You can't see Ikeme making some of the elementary school errors. No one is saying that Carl is world class, but he's totally a class or two above Akpeyi.

O pari

goldfish80:
Ikeme became the first choice goalkeeper for Wolves in the 2013 season. Mind you, this guy is 31 years old. He only became first choice for his club at 28.
In England, he is considered average who has had a fair share of his own gaffes down the years. You can see some of them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbX3vYoMf5k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3r7wwvEYkM

Even last season he had a few shockers. You may not know this because you don't follow the English championship but that's the reality. Ikeme is not world class like some have been thinking. His case have become absence making the heart grow fonder.

The goals he conceeded against Zambia and Egypt are just identical to the ones Akpeyi considered. But people want to kill Akpeyi.

We have to be real, we don't have any proper world class goalkeeper.

Kennysville, I don't wanna cuss you out but your post makes you sound like a full-time mugu or someone who has never smelled the four corners of a soccer pitch in his life. Who in his right mind would underestimate the importance of a solid goalkeeper to a team. Anyway, I am in a charitable mood today so let me educate you a little.

First, the goalkeeper is your last and MOST important defender. Your entire defenceline is crap if you don't have a solid goalkeeper. As a matter of fact, a poor goalkeeper would even make even the best defenders in the world play with zero confidence. Jamaica just upsets the powerhouse Mexico in the Gold Cup yesterday. In yesterday's game, the only area Jamaica was superior to Mexico was in the goalkeeping department. Mexico has them on the rope the entire game, but their goalkeeper kept them in the game until Jamaica had a free kick toward the end of the game and capitalized.

And I can go on and on to list the teams that won matches based solely on the heroics of their goalkeeper, but I don't have the time. Right now, what I have to tell you is that the goalkeeper is the most important position in the game.

O pari

kennysville:
We seem to be occupied with goal keeping department when there are other areas to really focus on. What happened to playing total football, where ur opponents sre forced to chase after balls? A brand of football where we determine it's pace and possession. We should be more concerned with harmonising communication btw the defence, midfield and the attack. We should focus more on gelling as a team as against fielding supposed best legs. Best legs dont win a match, a team does! I make bold to say that with no goalkeeper in between the posts, we can still beat any opposition if we have a team and i mean this both realistically and sarcastically too. (Delete whichever is inapplicable)

What Bafana capitalized on is the lack of gel in our team. Their coach said it and it was exactly what happened. We didnt gel as a team. A cursory look at the friendlies leading to the match shows that Rohr experimented too much instead of fielding his starting 11 for the game ahead. The game against togo had him fooled. The result is there for all to see. Check our passes in the game, our ball possession. How quickly we lost it. If the match had been an away match, I think we would have fared better because the pressure will obviously now be on Bafana. We played a team that lacked cohesion and thus were under a lot of pressure. Goal keeper wasnt at his best because of this same issue. Our supposed midfield couldnt string 3 to 4 straight passes without it being intercepted. Not to mention that our coach too goofed big time in tactics, positioning and substitutions of his players. So the less we talk about goalkeeper the beta. We dont need a good goalkeeper to win. We need good strikers , midfielders and defenders that know their job. Thats what wins a match. For all i care we might as well not field any goal keeper so long as you put the right players in the right positions and they are a team.we have watched matches wherein goal keepers were largely on holiday all thru.( only called upon to take goal kicks)

Cameroon that we talk about are only big but not skilfull. Or at least not as skilful as our team. If we play intelligently, we can cash in on their reckless tackles. 2 red cards and that is it. We are in control. Hence bottomline is we need to decide what is important and stick to it.

Finally! I have been making that call since Rohr came onboard. I think it's outrageous to make Akpeyi our second choice goalkeeper when we have Emmanuel Daniel who has proven that he's better than Akpeyi. Anyway, good move by NFF. Better late than never, right?

And in addition, I believe that Austin Ejide ought to be invited to the camp as well. To me, after Enyeama, it would be Ejide. I rate him on par with Carl Ikeme.

EEGA:
Orlando Pirates Goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel Set To replace Sick Ikeme
mobile.nigeriasoccernet.com Jul 25, 2017 9:51 AM
A top source in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed plans by the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr to invite Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel for the games against Cameroon in August and September.

Daniel is widely tipped to be the first choice goalkeeper at South Africa Premier Soccer League Side Orlando Pirates next season , the team he moved to from Enugu Rangers last summer.

As exclusively reported by this portal last week, the source at the NFF confirmed the coach will no doubt call up Pirates shot stopper Emmanuel Daniel to battle the home based goalkeepers for a spot in the team.

” Yes Daniel is in consideration, but for now focus is on the home based goalkeepers, Daniel will be invited for the Cameroon game. Rohr knows a lot about him and obviously likes him a lot”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Look there’s no goalkeeper crisis in the Super Eagles. The media is just making a fuss out of Carl Ikeme ‘s absence, yes he is the first choice goalkeeper, and most certainly he will be missed but it doesn’t mean we don’t have a replacement”

Alloy Agu shouldn't even be the coach at all. Nigerians just have this weird idea that being an ex goalkeeper automatically makes you a goalkeeper trainer! To me, that's BS. You don't have to be a former goalkeeper to be goalkeeper trainer, the same way you don't necessarily have to be an ex football player to be a coach.

But if we must chose an ex goalkeeper then why not start with Peter Rufia? He was a much better goalkeeper than Alloy Agu, played at the high levels longer than him, and even played in Europe unlike Alloy Agu. Hence, Rufia has the advantage of being trained by some of the best coaches in the game. Same with Ike Shorunmo.

Yerima Shettima is a bloody mugu, but he made a good point this time. Like I had said several times, the Buhari administration totally mishandled the whole Nnamdi Kalu saga. They have turned him into another Nelson Mandela. If I were Buhari, the first time he stepped into Nigeria without a passport, I would just detain him at the airport and put him on the next available flight back to wherever he came from.

By arresting him, Buhari turned him into a political prisoner and a freedom fighter. Right now, the gene is out the box and there's no going back on his agitation.

I find it really disconcerting that we can't find a few good goalkeepers amongst more than 200 million Nigerians. I am sure that they are out there but our coaches are too lazy to discover them. I wonder what the jobs of the local coaches who work Rohr is, if they can't discover a few capable goalkeepers for the national team. They may be in the academies or even in the Universities, but these guys just can't get off their behinds to search them out.

Any attempt to take an international match, friendly or not, to Sokoto, or anywhere in the far north, is asking for trouble. The fact that there hasn't been any conflict there yet doesn't mean that it isn't brewing below the surface. It's still a sharia state.

Sokoto is one of the safest places in Nigeria. No religious crisis or conflicts and less crime. Not even when other parts of the North are boiling. Sokoto has remained fairly stable. Apart from the extreme heat, it will host teams with no issues.

Ofcourse, places like maiduguri are no go because of Boko Haram.

Haha!!! People are actually commenting on this "news" article as if it's true. Are Nigerians that naïve?

I don't think an average Nigerian is naïve but most folks here definitely are. The tendency to believe everything you read on the internet is quite disturbing. So a nameless website (newspaper?) came out of nowhere and publish a ridiculous article with ZERO direct quotes, and some folks here swallow it hook, line, and sinker! You didn't ask yourself one basic question: why would Cristiano Ronaldo be giving career advice to Neymar? Are they that close?

The news would be more believable if they had claimed that this advice was coming from Messi, Suarez, or even the real Ronaldo. But some of you are too dumb to critically analyze anything ... if it's on the internet then it must be true, righthuh

End time "prophets". The Bible seriously warned us about them:

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. (Acts 20:28-30)

Your statement about Alampasu is incorrect. Young players are loaned out to give them first team experience. Alampasu was getting games in the cup before he was loaned out, meaning he was second or third choice.

Alampasu actually stands a strong chance to be number 1 at Feirense this season after they sold their number 1. Alampasu is better than Akpeyi. Inexperienced but better.
