They were extremely difficult to play against in 2014. And they still have the same coach. Let's see how they play today. But I think Morocco would find a way to breach them. I trust this Moroccan team. O pari andrew444: |
This Iran team gave is fits in the Brazil world cup with their ultra defensive tactics. I can't wait to see how they do against Morocco today. I think this match is going to be a defensive masterpiece. Jose Mourinho would be proud ![]() O pari |
They played much better in the second half .... unfortunately they get caught out with a set play. For some reasons, most African teams find it difficult to defend set plays. It's all due to our naiveté. O pari Sportilitica: |
They played better in the second half. Unfortunately, they conceded that late goal. O pari lexyman: |
Haha!! We definitely need more prayers, especially this one that all the dark characters in the universe (the psychic cat abi na dog, the IMB AI Simulator, etc) are all picking the Super Eagles to overachieve at this tournament. Anyway, my prayers warriors are already busy at work. So no tension ![]() O pari klexycole: |
I think they are giving Uruguay too much respect. If I were Hector Cuper, I would go all frontal and attack this Uruguay defense, let's see how they'd hold up. After all, this is Uruguay we're talking about not Brazil or Germany. O pari princfred: |
The Egyptians look way too nervous so far in this game, IMHO. I never trust these North African ... they only know how to play against African oppositions. Once they get to the world cup, they would lay an egg ![]() O pari |
Martz101, like I told you, you can take everything I say to the bank. I do my research and I have great sources in the high places as well ![]() O pari Martz101: |
If that's the real line up then it all means we're playing 4-3-3 not 3-5-2. Or else, Shehu (a fullback) shouldn't be starting ahead of Ebuehi (a true wingback). And who's the 3rd CB? O pari klexycole: |
Cowards die many times before their death! Where were those men when Croatia lost to Iceland ![]() O pari neezar: |
Abeg, forget all these projections o, jare. My projection for the England and Czech friendly matches were even more accurate that Colin Udoh's own. Truth is, nobody knows what Rohr is going to do. He keeps his decisions close to his chest ... these journos are only writing these stuffs to keep you attention. They don't know any better than you and I. This line up cannot be right. Even if Rohr decides to play 4-3-3, then Ogu would have to start ahead of Etebo. O pari CLT123: |
What killed them today was their naiveté. O pari Oasis007: |
Balogun again! This dude is becoming too injury prone for my liking. O pari krattoss: |
You may have a point there sha. But I am still setting from that deliberate hand ball by Suarez, because I don't think the punishment fits the crime. I mean, the rules were followed but that still didn't benefit Ghana. O pari asha80: |
It's true. For instance, are you aware that no host nation has ever lost the opening match in the world cup? And that's bound to continue this year with Russia conveniently selected to host Saudi Arabia ![]() It's a rigged system, bro. And Michel Platini even confirmed it sef. O pari Martz101: |
So you called these men gallant soldiers but a whole battalion of them killed one lazy and overfed python, eh? Unbelievable! #sh!tholeCountry O pari |
Oh my, the Egypt's group would've been a breeze. But FIFA knew what they were doing. I predicted before the draw that Nigeria and Morocco are going to get the toughest draws. It happens all the time - the African teams likely to make the most noise always gets drawn into the group of death. O pari Martz101: |
I think they did. But I might not be sure tho. Well they should do that, if they haven't done it already because that's the worst form of unfair play especially if you consider that Ghana v Uruguay match. Because Uruguay didn't suffer any form of disadvantage in that particular game. O pari asha80: |
Bizarre people When did we start bringing live chickens to games? The name of the team is Super EAGLES not Super CHICKENS. I would understand if they had requested to bring in live baldhead Eagles. But chickens? I don't see the relevancy ![]() O pari |
I honestly and sincerely believe that a visionary coach would've done better ... much better. Not only in terms of the silverwares won, but in building a team structure. I think Nigeria lost a big opportunity to make noise in world football. Opportunities like may only come once in a century. O pari Martz101: |
KPOM! My biggest beef with BonJo was that he didn't even have any plans (or even a clue) how to develop our game or build a team. He would just come in two days prior to the match, gather the players together and play. He worked as a 100% hired hand. The likes of Westerhof and Rohr may not be the best coaches in the world, technically speaking, but they both have a vision of building a team structure for us. Something like that was never in BonJo's plans. O pari Joebie: |
Well, that ball would be ruled as a goal if he does the same thing today. They have changed the rules. I mean, think about it, did Uruguay play even a single minute with 10 men in that match? It was totally unfair what happened to Ghana!! O pari SlayerForever: |
Haha!! Ol' boy, you should be a screenwriter ![]() That was very well illustrated. Yes, VicMo would definitely become a Nigerian hero but he would become a villain in France and the whole of Europe. And those pundits are never gonna forgive him. For instance, in the 2014 (2010?) World Cup qualifiers, Thierry Henry used his hand to score a goal against was it Ireland or Northern Ireland, the goal was allowed to stand but to the UK media raised hell. There were even calls from various quarters for the game to be replayed. To this day, the British media is yet to forgive Diego Maradona for the so called hand of god goal he scored against England in 1986! Yet what Suarez did in 2010, which was much worse if being viewed as a footnote. O pari asha80: |
Trust me, Croatia especially with their current coach, is more dangerous than Uruguay. O pari andrew444: |
Bros, with the talent we had at that time, even coach Yusuf (or myself sef) would've breeze through that AFCON with ease especially with us being the host. To me, BonJo is a fraud. He wasted our golden generation of players! How come he hasn't had any other coaching job since leaving Nigeria? O pari Martz101: |
Well, like I told icon4s yesterday, Rohr really has to be dumb not to deploy 3-5-2. Based on the players at his disposal and based on what we saw during the pre-tournament friendlies, it's clear that 3-5-2 is our best option. He wouldn't publicly admit to it right now but I think he would use that formation on Saturday. Fingers crossed tho. O pari MetalJigsaw: |
Nah, they were totally average. Same with the Copa America. That's why I can't understand why they are rated very highly by the pundits. Frankly, I wish we had Uruguay instead of Croatia, even though Croatia didn't impress in the qualifiers either. O pari andrew444: |
Bros, that day I was so pissed off that I wanted to break my TV. It's true that we tend to banter with Ghana but I threw my support 100% with them once Nigeria were eliminated at the World Cup. I wanted them to make it to the final because it was Africa's World Cup. Anyway, since that day, I parted ways with Luis Suarez and Uruguay team. I still don't like Suarez to this day, even though he plays for Barca ![]() O pari asha80: |
True. But Uruguay are not Brazil. Thank God ![]() O pari asha80: |
They sure do but they haven't shown me that they can do it. With all that talented, they still flopped at the last Copa America. O pari SlayerForever: |
Haha ![]() No worries, we'll revisit this thread on or before July 8th. O pari Mujtahida: |
