LiteratureRe: List Your Top Five Greatest Books by Icon79(m): 5:43pm On Jul 03, 2018
The Bible is almost the Number One for me, but any James Hardley Chase novel is a must read for me. I read dozen upon dozens of Chase novels back when I was in high school. To me, James Hadley Chase's most popular novel is No Orchids for Miss Blandish. But An Ace Up my Sleeves (along with Tiger by the Tail) is another great thriller as well - action packed!

O pari

Umartins1:
let us know your top five greatest books and the reasons for their greatness. You never can tell, you may inspire someone to buy any or all of them. Here is a list of mine...... In order of greatness cheesy

1. The 48 laws of power, by Robert Greene (for its brutality). This is for me, the greatest book ever written by a man.

2. The Art of War, by Sun Tzu (for being strategic)

3. The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho (for its explosiveness. The book is really deep and philosophical)

4. The Blood Memory, by Greg Iles (for being bloody. This is by far the greatest crime book ever)

5. An Ace up my Sleeves, by James Hardely Chase (for its suspense. The book is filled with suspense from the very beginning till the end. Your heart skips every second of reading)

Can you please make a list of yours?

Mods please, help me with a wider outreach. I need to add to my library.

"I was confused. I did not know what to do, but in the end I knew that I could not let 180 million Nigerians down," Mikel said.

"I had to shut it out of my head and go and represent my country first. I was told that they would shoot my dad instantly if I reported to the authorities or told anybody.

"And I did not want to discuss it with the coach because I did not want my issue to become a distraction to the coach or the rest of the team on the day of such an important game. So as much as I wanted to discuss it with the coach, I could not do it."

SportsRe: Gernot Rohr Shortlisted For Algeria Job by Icon79(m): 2:21pm On Jul 03, 2018
I think we need him because, knowing Nigeria the way I know them, we can only be going from frying pan to fire if we get rid of him at this time. However, if Nigeria has visionary leaders, we should get rid of him and replace him with Samson Siasia and Emmanuel Amuneke. If those two are given the support and the freehand that the NFF gave Gernot Rohr, they would perform wonders.

Siasia has definitely proven himself, but the NFF just doesn't want to give him a chance.

Nonsense!

A handball doesn't have to be "intentional" to be a penalty. No one can interpret intent. Hence the rule of thumb remains "if you hand was not in a natural position when you make contact with the ball, then it's a penalty". And in that case, Rojo's hand was definitely NOT in a natural position.

Christianity EtcRe: Poverty In Nigeria Vs Richest Pastors In Nigeria - By Alawode-James Jumoke by Icon79(m): 6:17pm On Jun 29, 2018
Actually, there's poverty everywhere. America is the richest country in the world but America also have the largest number of homeless people. If California is a country, it would be the 6th richest country in the world but California has the largest number of poor people in the whole United States. So go figure ...

And by the way, I am not trying to downplay the level of poverty in Nigeria. No, not all. I was just trying to to validate the accuracy or lack thereof of her statement. She shouldn't be quoting the scripture out of context to make her case. And if you wanna post something on the world wide web, you better get your basic facts right.

And by the way, if she has problems with the level of poverty in Nigeria then she should focus her attentions on the Nigerian government. The church did not create poverty in Nigeria.

All these dumb and ignorant Nigerians exposing their ignorance and disgracing themselves on the social media. Like I had previously stated: the most dangerous person in the world is a Nigerian with access to the social media.

First of all, Nigeria is NOT the poorest country in the world so she got it wrong right off the bat. It would've made more sense if she had said that Nigeria is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Secondly, when the Lord Jesus Christ said "Feed my sheep", He was talking about feeding them with the Word of God not physical food.

Anywayz, I stopped after reading that second paragraph. I don't have the time to waste of nonsensical nonsense shocked

Senegal should've qualified against Japan but they let the opportunity slip. I told them on Sunday that Senegal would be going home .... I was quite sure that they wouldn't get a result against this very good Colombian team. Japan was lucky twice:
- the silly red card in the Colombia game
- the defensive naiveté of the Senegalese

Yes, it was definitely a missed opportunity but, hey, it happens. Even the best players in the world miss good chances. I mean, those of us who have played this game know that putting the ball in the net is the most difficult thing to do in the game. As I told one of the wailers on twitter, apples to apples, I was actually more disappointed on Kelechi Iheanacho in that game because he was either anonymous, keeps falling down, or giving the wrong pass. I expected much from Kelechi in this tournament but he just didn't show up.

All in all, I just want the blame game to be over. I also have questions about the subs (or lack thereof) by Rohr in that game, the tactics, and even the formation but there's still no guarantee that we could've won even if he had done it my way. Truth is, Nigerians are just fond of looking for someone to blame whenever things go wrong. To this day, some folks are still blaming Clemence Westerhof for losing to Italy in 1994 world cup.

Before you crucify Rohr, just remember that the man took a team that has FAILED to qualify for TWO consecutive AFCONS and got them to qualify for a world cup group death, with a game to spare! So the man must have done something right, don't you thinkhuh

O pari

Certitude:
I'm one of those who criticised him for the missed chances but on second thought, he did well in that game. But we need him to score.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 2:45pm On Jun 28, 2018
Thank you! The boys tried their best. No need to call them names. Some of them were willing to die on the pitch and how we pay them back is by posting trash on social media? What kind of people are wehuh

The powerhouse Germany just lost to minnows South Korea, but I am sure that you don't get the level of name callings and emotional outbursts from them like you do from Nigeria. Some of them even went as far as abusing the wives of the players. For what exactlyhuh
Anytime we lose, we always start looking for somebody to blame and someone scapegoat ... forgetting that sometimes you lose due to hard luck or simply because the other team was better. Yes, Jude Ighalo's miss was bad but I have seen even Cristiano Ronaldo missed easier chances. And in addition, the dude has acknowledged his error and apologized ... just get over it. Damn it!!!

Some Nigerians make me sick, seriously.

O pari

O pari

Joebie:
What they are indirectly calling for is a disbandment of the team. Our players did not play badly especially in the second halves. The next task is to teach them to start firing from the blast of the whistle. With a capable bench we should be able to play with high intensity feel start to finish. That’s only what’s lacking in this team. And of course team building is continuous. There will be new players, but they would have to earn their place in the team.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 2:26pm On Jun 28, 2018
Bros, na you get time with all the silly, emotional and idiotic reactions by some so called soccer fans. I am just so happy that these folks are not the ones making decisions for the team. It's extremely difficult to understand the game if you've never been out there to play. The game is much easier when you're watching it from the stands or from the comfort of your living room sofa. Hence, these mugus would have the audacity to call names to the boys who sweated blood to represent their country.

Seriously, Nigerians are some of the loudest and most annoying human beings on earth!

O pari

Joebie:
Ogu is still relevant. You guys should not be retiring players who still have something to give. What’s wrong with the young players giving them a fight? Enough of labels and dump. Old, young, FB, home based, let the the deserving come to the battle ground. The youngest team tag did not win us the World Cup. All these players are Nigerians, as long as they are performing, they are not finished.
