chilo was dreaming, she was sitting beside at the stream bank,it was evening, the air was cool,insects are whistling, birds are chirping, the stream was calm and everything was just serene.

Then Oyeku came and touched her,she could see his face,his strong smiling jaws,

but the smiles are not for her, Oyeku was looking behind her,he was staring at the stream, she turned around to see what had caught Oyeku attention

that was when she saw her,Oyeku was staring at a mysteriously beautiful maiden from the stream

,her hairs were long,dark and braided laced with cowries,her eyeballs were brown and glittering, reflecting lights,
her face was beautifully tattooed in symmetry, her bosom was covered with her,hands, she was naked,but the lower part of her body was in the stream, her skin was brown, if we are to call it brown

She was smiling at Oyeku as she moved her hands over her body,sensuously and seductively, she was urging Oyeku to come to her.

Oyeku was moving towards the maiden, hypnotized by her beauty, he was spell bound.

chilo was grieved and jealously angry,she was holding Oyeku back from going to the mysterious lady,she would not allow these lady to steal her love away

Oyeku pushed chilo away and gave her the most hating look she had ever seen,the look was so terrifying, like the look of somebody whose treasure was stolen

chilo shivered, she had never seen Oyeku as angry as these before

Oyeku: ( he spoke with anger and hatred to chilo) if you dare touch me again, I would break your neck( he moved towards the maiden and vanished with her)

Chilo: ( with tears) Oyeku noooo!( she woke up in tears,and continued sobbing aloud not minding her mother whom she had woken with her cries) Oyeku no! don't leave me,please don't,please don't break my heart, I never wanted to love you, but you made me love you,please don't break my heart, I'll die if you do,please keep me in your heart ( she cried out as her mother kept consoling her that it was just a dream)

Oyo

Ari was in a dream, he saw a tall figure standing before him,he could not see his face,everything about the strange man was dark.

it was the same figure, he had been seeing for so long now,the figure that has been choking him.

strange man: Do you know me?

Ari: No I don't, but please have mercy on me,stop tormenting me

strange man:you do know me,only that you know me when I was weak and helpless

Ari: who are you?

strange man: I am your Death!(he pounced on Ari and choked him,Ari woke up,he was sweating, he felt for his neck,it was sore and painful, he felt headache and cold, oh no,he had developed fever,now he knew that his time is coming to an end, he was not with any of his wives, which made everything worse,he his weak and his voice is failing, he felt like seeing his daughter now

Ari: Irawo ( he shouted weakly) Irawo, Irawo ( he slowly lost consciousness)

Usi

Uzo closed his eyes and was expecting the spear to strike him,but No,he only heard a scream behind had him,Oyeku had just saved him,a man was coming with a club for his head,Ogun can protect him against iron but not against wood.
Oyeku raised up his hatchet and hacked his first victim, blood sprayed over his face, " you have shed blood, this is the beginning of your insanity " a voice said, a very loud voice, exactly like the voice that spoke to him in his dream, he had no time to think about the voice, he quickly hacked his second victim, somebody was fighting and screaming behind him, he recognized the voice, it was Tanido, oh wait, he could hear a great roar behind him,and he could also see usialo men retreating,the boys are here with the commander,they are coming with great speed.
The momentum boosted the morale of the Aro warriors, their strength was renewed, they pursued and fought with great determination, they slaughtered usialos with anger,they set every hut ablaze, women are running helter skelter as Aro men hunt them,it was indeed a great slaughter for the usialo,the dark night bear witness

usialo

Uzo had saved Ichendu twice, he had also saved some fortunate warriors who are fighting around his perimeter, he twist and turn hacking down usialos randomly, he was drenched in blood, his lungs burns,he us gradually getting tired,usialos are coming like wasps.
His hand is getting heavy, truth be told, Uzo had been hacked and stabbed and even pierced several times, but to the surprise of his attackers, before the blade of the weapon touches Uzo, it would become blunt and soft, making no fatal damage to Uzo.
Uzo was hearing his name from distance, he though it was his anscenstors calling him home,but when he looked back, he saw a tall figure running towards the battle " Oyeku "! he exclaimed, what is he doing here? oh no! this boy had cheated death once,but death had finally lured him out again.
Uzo: ( he shouted) Oyeku, go back, run away( Oyeku kept on coming,Uzo shouted at him angrily) run boy, do you want to die? (just then Oyeku prepared his spear and launched it forward straight at Uzo angle, Uzo could not believe his eyes,Oyeku wants him dead.)

warrior: (trying to catch his breath) run home with the slaves our men had been ambushed, chief said you should take the slaves home right away,I have to go back to the field ( with this he sprinted back into the forest,Oyeku never knew what got into had him,he picked up his spear and hatchet and sprinted after the warrior, he could hear the boys calling him back, but his legs would not just turn back, his men are in trouble, he can't just run home.Tanido has followed him,but Oyeku was sprinting fast and he didn't noticed.
It was really cold, the forest breeze was chilly,sometimes he bumped into holes and fallen trees but he still kept on running, he don't want to lose the sight of the warrior, if he lose the warrior, then he is lost in the forest.

Usije

Oyeku could not bear the cry of the children anymore, they were hungry,but the commander is not ready to feed the slaves out of the supplies, except by the permission of the chief.
So Oyeku and some other sensitive boys are moving from hut to hut looking for food right in the middle of the night.That was when they heard the cry, an Aro distance cry of alarm, there is danger!
The cry continued and it was getting closer, the boys had become nervous, they are all on their feet, those who are sleeping are awake now.
They stared at the direction of the sound, it was now very close, they could the crushing of dry leaves,and suddenly the warrior appeared

Maku was coming from the bush with Arore, he was adjusting his skirt
Maku: to be sincere, you are really sweet ( he licked his lips) I will never forget this night, it was awesome
Arore; (smiling) you are good too,I like the way you thrust and squeezed me,no man had ever make love to me like that before
Maku: ( he dipped his hand into his waste pocket and counted some cowries) take this and get yourself something good ( Arore was annoyed)

Oyeku he stood up and faced Agu) proof to me that you are a man enough to make love to a woman ( he said with knitted teeth,as he flexed his muscles)
Agu: (surprised and furious) who are you? how dare you speak to me like that,surely you must be mad... ( atmosphere of violence is building, but the commander did not intervene, any sensible person would know that Oyeku is capable of breaking all the bones in Agus body, and that is what the commander wants,Agu has been rude all the way,atleaat let Oyeku show him that men are not equal*
Oyeku: if you know that it was your father that really made love to your mother before you are conceived, just make another sound( Agu slapped him, that was when it started,Oyeku swept him of his feet and hit his skull on the dirty earth, Agu tried to stand up but Oyeku got on top of him and grabbed his neck,choking him,the boys had gathered round the duo,even the slaves were a bit lit up, Agu is receiving enough pain, Oyeku pressed Agu throat with such hatred and anger that he could feel Agu going limp,his eyes is gradually rolling up,and his tongues were sticking out, but Oyeku never reduced the pressure, he us as ready to kill the little bastard)
commander: ( he stood up) that's enough ( Oyeku dropped Agu and got of him as the commander walked towards the humiliated boy, his back was on the ground, he is coughing and trying to get enough air into his lungs,the commander stood over him with a mocking smile on his face)Aro ethics of war also said that cowards doesn't deserve the booty of war,and the whole congregation bear me witness that you don't deserve it,if anyone wants to swim, you have to proof yourself by doing what Agu did with this young man(he pointed at Oyeku who was trying to calm himself down) but if you can't, shut your mouth up and sleep

The boys are keeping watch over the slaves, they had made a bonfire, the slaves were silently weeping, if they dare weep out,they deserves three strokes of the cow skin. Some boys are planning on making love to some of the usije maidens, but they are afraid of the commander except Agu.
Agu: commander, I am bored( he grinned)
commander: so what is my business with that,should I bend down and dance balu to entertain you? ( the boys laughed)
Agu: don't you get it,here are maidens and here we are young men,these place should have been boiling with actions now,Sir we want to swim with these maidens, we have worked and suffered for two days now,we are entitled to pleasures too,according to Aro ethics of war( the boys cheered in support)
commander he felt insulted and embarrassed by Agu audacity, but he did not say anything again, he just bottled his anger and kept silent, Agu is huge and tall,his stature had always give him confidence as a young man,but now it had given him pride and arrogance. oyeku could not hold his anger anymore, he was so irritated with Agu, Agu had consistently proof himself to be s black sheep,Oyeku decided to silence him for good.

Ichendu knew they may not leave this place alive, so he called a warrior
Ichendu: hey you!( he shouted to a retreating warrior) run to usije now,tell the boys to move home with the slaves, and they should move quickly, go now.
The campaign of arrows had finally stopped, suddenly, usialos began to jump out of there hiding place,Ichendu braced himself for combat.
Ichendu: I must waste enough of these bastards before I taste steel ( he ran and met with his attackers)

chapter eleven
Usi
it was tragedy, the Aro warriors had been ambushed by the usialo, arrows were coming from all direction. A lot of Aro men had fallen, others are struggling to stay alive.
How did the usialos knows we were coming" was the question he kept on asking himself, as he retreat with his warriors, but the usialos are not going with retreat, they kept in sending arrows, poisonous arrows.

chilo sat with her mother on a bamboo bench,it was in the afternoon and the son was hot,they sat under the shade of the hut,chilo mother was dozing on her sit,while chilo was thinking.
Today she had been fantasizing about oyeku, she could not stop herself from fantasizing, she remembered how Oyeku hugged her,how she felt like a woman, she remembered his scent, the strength of his arms.
she smile and sometimes giggle out loud without knowing it,chilo mother had woken up,she could see chilo smiling and giggling alone.
mother: omo,hope you are alright?.
chilo:* she quickly recompose* no mother, I am just happy, happy that we would finally be going home soon
mother: yes my daughter, our land is waiting, this is the second day that Aro men had left for Usi, I believe in the next seven days they would be back, then we can proceed with the journey to oma,OK?
chilo: yes mother* she was contemplating on telling her mother about Oyeku,but she doesn't know what are reaction would be* mother!
mother: yes,omo
chilo: I would you feel,if I have a suitor?
mother: it is a thing of joy for me
chilo: what about If the suitor is an Aro?
mother:* she faced chilo and grinned* are you in love with one?.
chilo: No!No! just asking
mother: if no,then you don't need to know how I will feel* she turned her face away*

mother:* she faced her smiling* so you want to play me tricks before, so who is this boy?
chilo: he is in battle right now,when he comes back, I would introduce him to you,so now mother, would you tell me how you feel now* she forced a frown*
mother: * she laughs and clapped her hands*finally, you have been caught with Aro charm,I can see you are madly in love, no wonder you are smiling and giggling alone, I must see that boy first before I tell you how I feels,I pray he returns safe.

Today, I withdraw my support from the kingdom, their streams shall dry,their women shall be barren,sickness and infirmities shall hit the land, miscarriage shall be the story of those who are fortunate enough to get pregnant, wars will come upon the land,and their hands shall prevail, Oyo shall be conquered and their proud history shall be forgotten forever,I will raise a humble nation that Oyo would have termed sucklings, this nation would rise against Oyo and conquer it, the name Oyo, would be like a dream, and the dynasty of Alade will be wipe away for ever.
And for Maku, the big mouthed manwh0re ,he shall have my visitation one of these days,Then we shall discuss how to settle our scores.

*the priestess came out of the trance, the maids can be heard chanting the goddess praise accompanied with claps.

Maku is now in Aro land, they had crossed the great stream, and now they are relaxing by the stream bank when they saw a girl coming down to the stream with a pot on her head*
legun:* he whistle* your Majesty, here is a game* he tried to wake Maku who just started sleeping* a beautiful game
Maku:* sleepily* go hunt the game yourself, keep all the meat to yourself, am sleepy right now* he resume sleeping*

Maku: I swear if you say a word again, I would stab you* he shouted angrily and resume sleeping*
The girl saw them,but looked away and quickly fetch her pot and left
Legun: * whispering to ogbo* his Majesty had lost a beautiful game, just because he wanted to find sleep,I bet it ,when his Majesty lays eyes on her,that day she will cease to be a maiden but a woman* he said with a dirty smile*
ogbo was lost,he gazed upon chilo till she was out of sight,what strange beauty! ogbo had never felt these before, all his life he had slept with women out of lust,he had never love any woman, but these maiden is strange, he wanted her,not for lust but for love,at all cost,nothing will stop him not even his Majesty, dear maiden,ogbo greet you* he said in his thought*

oyeku and the other boys could hear screams,scream of blood thirsty men,screams of slain men,screams of mothers, screams of children,huts are put ablaze,the night was made day by the great flame,it was a night of horror.
The boys are arranged in group of hundreds, there were ten groups making the total of a thousand, each hundred is further divided into ten.
Afara: I bet our men are getting the upper hand* he was restless,just like the other boys*
Tanido: I think we should go now,chief said when we see the flames we can come
oyeku: we have to wait for the commander instruction* just then the commander spoke up*
commander: it is time, let each group stick to it own ten,our mission now is to bring the supplies with us,look out for our injured warriors and treat their wounds,we are to look after captured slaves and ensure that we take them to Aro successfully, if need be for you to use your weapon, do use it,do you understand comrades?
boys: yes commander
commander: let move* they sprinted towards the chaos*

The fight between the Aros and usije raged all night, but before dawn,there were few men standing, that morning was filled with blood shed,rape and massacres, women were mourning, children cried as they watch their fathers been slaughtered, corpse are everywhere, usije men are been slaughtered here and there, rape is going on at every angle and corner of the land.
Oyeku watched as one Aro warrior tore the wrapper of one of the captured maidens and threw her to the ground, he watched as other warriors cheered and laugh, he could hear the screams of the girl,the girl would be his age,he assumed.
oyeku never new men could be so brutal,he sighted two Aro warriors struggling with a girl in the bush,there was no law,Aro men never touch the food from the supply, they were eating the usis food* a warrior shouted at oyeku*
warrior: * hey! you fool,go meet your mates and bind slaves* he said as he walked pass him,he hated to be called a fool,but warriors must show respect to their senior, his silence is a respect,as oyeku walked on he could hear Ichendu speaking with Uzo
Ichendu: indeed, you are a son of Ayeni, I could feel it,I was impressed by you performance on the field, if you prove yourself to be more efficient, I would include you among the ranked warriors.
Uzo: Thank you chief* his face was covered with blood and sweat* to serve my land is my duty,and I must do so with efficiency
Ichendu:* slapped his shoulder* you are a true son of Aro, keep it up* he dismissed Uzo, oyeku ran towards.
oyeku: brother
Uzo: oyeku* oyeku hugged him,but Uzo did not hug back* how are you brother?
oyeku: I am fine, I am happy you are alive brother* he said happily*
Uzo: don't worry about my safety, just try to stay alive* he said as he walked away*

oyeku watched him go,his face was bloody, his hatchet was dripping blood, Uzo doesn't use spears, Tanido appeared from behind oyeku.

Tanido: do you know that man?* he pointed to Uzo, who is now far us*
oyeku: yes he is my brother
Tanido: I heard that nobody had killed so many Usi warriors as that man, they said he fought like a possessed man,I would be proud if he is my brother*oyeku was indeed proud, Uzo is bringing glory to the Ebisa clan like his father*
