80 fruits for 5kg seems not to correlate bro. Jarrah f1 can not be less than 120g(min) per fruit. (I even got 120g with cobra f1 that the breeder quoted 80 to 90g.)
80x120 is almost 10kg
Boss, you nor for like work for EFCC? shocked grin grin grin,
I said my own already, quoting figures is not enough to market these products, they won't hear

@ Farmer Akinloye, I have a tomato variety which might be superior to Platinum in a lot of ways.

1. High disease (incl. bacterial wilt) tolerance 2. Shorter plant 3. Bigger fruits (I think) 3. Highly marketable shape & colour 4. Does very well in dry & rainy season 5. High dry matter (very little water content).

Whether it can beat Platinum in terms of yield is what we need to find out.

Would you be interested in doing a side by side planting test? Ideepaul, OluchiDelly, bosagro, jidestroud - are you interested?

I'm willing to give each interested participant 30 free seeds.
Hello sir, I am definitely interested, but to make it easier for us, I would like to pay for more seeds if the seed price is not excessively high. And I hope I will still find the seeds to buy for commercial operations if it's successful grin grin grin grin

@ DeLaRu. Please am interested too, kindly share the tomato variety name, there is a seed variety that a friend told me about which stated can beat platinum in terms of resistance, weight and yield is Jarrah ZR F1 ,a variety of Rijk Zwaan has proven to be the best tomato variety to cultivate in the dry season which i will like to cultivate this dry season, had an average of 80-90 tomato fruits per stand, the average fruit weight per stand was 4.8- 5.1kg.
Until some of these seed companies create a catalogue for their products with detailed description of disease resistance, shape, brix, fruit shelf life, etc, and do farmers field day, they will find it hard to market some of these their expensive seeds...

So.. harvest started yesterday evening and I took it to market this morning with this (Big boy) farm tool, my farm is 36km to market, and I think if I don't have my own mean of transportation, driver will eat huge percentage of my profit, the minimum I will be paying for transport per harvest will be 11k,so I bought it. If you can afford it,pls buy it too, it a great asset and fine helping farm tool!
when someone is selling cucumbers at 3k during the rainy season and also during the dry season, is it worth the stress? it's generally poor, even in my place...the peak of scarcity was just after the August break, since then the price has been generally low.
btw, how much is that tricycle?

I did not write you are stupid. But your post is rubbish. It is a joke. You know it is a joke too. So why post it? And such joke can make someone else commit suicide after losing his capital. Nigeria is hard. Do not give this OP above a false hope. I hope you are not his consultant who deceived him he can get 5 fruits per plant. In 2021 please, get more serious. I have seen your posts everywhere cos I had to check you. Focus on fewer crops instead of jumping here and there. It will be well with you.
Call me out on nairaland and ask if I have offered consultancy services, and if I have charged anyone a dime for any advice or knowledge shared!
The OP made a valid assertion that upto 5 watermelon of varying sizes will be formed , BUT HE SAID HE WILL PRUNE(does pruning not reduce the number of balls per plant automatically?) Maybe fruit split, rot, rodents and the rest may reduce that number again
I jump here and there?how many crops have you seen me jumping on commercially? And I should concentrate on fewer crops? Really?
Ask the fella if I have offered to guide him on watermelon cultivation?
I read here, ask questions here, I accept fair criticism as I don't know all and maybe will never no matter how hard I try, and offer ideas that may sometimes not work for all, but works for me, I am open to correction, but can you say the same of yourself sir, even from your older accounts grin grin, I have to admit I have learnt from your deactivated accounts...but please don't be in a haste to paint me in bad light as a consultant or something similar please, I wouldn't like to waste your time, but you made some non specific allegations against my person, maybe you could be a bit more specific....God bless you

if you abandon this thread, I call bandits give you asap...for rainy season cultivation, think of 2.5- 3m spacing btw rows for better results and if you do nursery, you can do 50cm a crop. better results await you sir

I'm currious. Was considering trying it next year at the early start of rains and when rains will be receeding. What is the warning you should have shared about watermelon.
the issues they face range from improper fumigation. a very serious issue of weeding that is always taken for granted. but note this, watermelons don't like disturbance, so if you do manual weeding and move the crops carelessly, you may not like the experience. if you plant a wrong cultivar that is prone to cracking/splitting, then irregular rainfall may affect you greatly. then crop security from theft, insects, and RODENTS

Nandini did well but they are a bit darker than saira. The cu986 were so white and some of my buyers didn't like it. But there was serious challenge with the area where the cu986 was planted. I think the problem is with the soil. The yield was poor and after about 4 harvests the fruits were getting yellowish before harvest and I couldn't sell anymore.
That yellow hue and the watery spots are a total turn off

Sir what's the update from the Nandini and Cu986 which is more preferable.
cu986 is really high yielding, but a well managed Saira/Nandini farm will outlast it.

. Bozz from your quote on nematicides, which good one can some1 get that will reduce ur use of insecticide, because this dry season na every days to use insecticide. The backing of knapsack no funny at all.
spraying every 3 days is necessary sir. Nematicides control soil borne attack and can't substitute foliar insecticides (organic or inorganic)!
If you can't carry the entire 16L load at once, carry half full knapsack or pay someone to do it for you...even greenhouse farmers dey use knapsack Oga

Does DI grow really work? I read somewhere that it's NPK values are far too small.
It works! but it's too expensive for my liking so I have stopped using it. granular fertilizers applied to the soil at predetermined intervals work better for me and at almost at the same price

Hello, good afternoon friends.
I am a papaya farmer, planning to into tomatoes next year.
I have 500 stands of maradona f1 from east west. I was motivated by Emmanchille, a very nice guy.
My question is, does any one know about 0:0:60 and Borax? East west company recommended them fro papaya in their article.
I may not be of help to you concerning the fertilizer you need, but could you help with the yield, and taste qualities of this cultivar?

I really don't like to spoil people's market, but I just witnessed the height of wickedness from some of them;
If you are a neolife and or gnld super grow marketer, I wonder the difference btw you and the Nigerian politicians...imagine a supergrow marketer telling a newbie into farming not to waste money on manure, fertilizer, and agrochemicals as supergrow will do the work! The said individual followed instructions and bought 2L @8k, the farm is gone and he did not harvest upto 3 bags from more than 2500 stands of cucumber. God will specially punish some people o. I really pity gullible Nigerians, now it's dry season, they will come again and tell you all manner of stories quoting research bodies and papers that don't exist, some will personally attack me, the only thing I will ask from any supergrow marketer is this, snap that container and highlight the NPK values of the supergrow for me to see...
Supergrow is only an adjuvant and a surfactant with very little fertilizer attributes, and when 1l is sold 4 4k, why not transfer that money into buying maybe 5-12 extra bags of manure depending on the cost of manure in your location, and enrich your soils for a better harvest( a very fertile soil can give you more than 12harvests o).
If you want foliar fertilizer, go straight ahead and buy foliar fertilizer like di grow, agrizyme, multi-k, and many other well known brands. If it's soil fertilizer, you can buy organic manure or inorganic fertilizer like the NPK, DAP, MKP, urea, and many more available types.
If you want a surfactant and an adjuvant, then you can buy supergrow. It's good, but can't replace soil fertilizer and manure.
N/B: I don't use that sh#t
