samuk: Basically, you are saying I should not believe Zik, but believe you that Zik has no Benin ancestry.
You also suggested that being Benin is beneath you.
You claim that Zik didn't achieve greatness and Achebe is greater than Zik. You also claim that Zik is an unintelligent brag.
On the issue of believing you rather than Zik on his Benin ancestry claim, what did Zik wanted to gain in claiming a lesser Benin heritage according to you.
You claimed that Benin heritage was beneath you and you are strenuously trying to refute Zik's Benin heritage claim, I simply don't get it.
Could you please tell me what was Zik's motive to tell the world that his ancestors were Benin people.
Was he trying to win Benin votes in retirement, what exactly was the gain in his claim if it was not true. I never stated Bini was beneath me but dont make condescending statement regarding my ancestral roots. I am contented with the origin God placed me. Zik wrote what he was fed with growing up. Now , it's left to you to verify that which he presented as facts. Are they facts ? You know what qualifies a story as a fact. |

UdechiHD: Igbo people may be older than the Bini’s based on archeological findings. However, based on language similarities, we are from one family. Same with many other southern and middlebelt tribes. The major evidence that makes the Igbo’s older than Benin is the excavations from Igbo Ukwu. We may even be siblings - the YEAI group of languages and had once lived in the Nok valley before our dispersions down south.
About Nri making use of the coral beads, you went ahead to show a recent picture as proof. The Bini popularized the bead and not Nri. There are evidence pointing to this fact. Show us at least a picture of an 19 century person to back your argument. Well , the excavation at Igboukwu proved my people(Nri and related groups) used stone based beads , fly whisk before the Bini kingdom existed. Bini popularized coral beads which were much newer ,around 17th century. But, before Bini kingdom Nze na Ozo reigned supreme....lmao You have nothing to fight for ,hence you are willing to fight dirty and discredit our greatness. The picture I posted was not to prove the time but show difference in the beads Hey , you can join Bini to attack Nri out of jealousy...cultureless bbastard! |

Culture › Re: Stop Promoting Igbo Culture Says Dein Of Agbor by IDENNAA(m): 7:39pm On Apr 29, 2020 |
samuk: Nothing delusional about Zik's aristocratic background claim, his is as authentic as it could be.
Before he became, an Igbo, Zik of Africa, Chief, first president of Nigeria and greatest politician from the south east, he was first of a royal blood from one of Africa's greatest empires and civilisations.
You guys can disagree, but be rest assured that your jealousy infused negative thoughts towards this great son of Africa doesn't count because you can't know Zik's history more than Zik himself.
Rather than worry about what Zik wrote about his ancestors, you should research the history of your own family, if it leads back to Benin, you will also be accepted as brother/s, we don't discriminate.
Whenever you think of claiming Zik for the south east alone, always remember his ancestral background and history. First off, Zik has no Bini ancestry, therefore that nonsense you wrote is nullified. I told you My ancestry is well known and please, we don't ever wish to be Bini....I dont want to be rude but dont make me. I have already told you that the story Zik told were unsubstantiated but you remained stubborn grasping at straws. Please and please not once in my life did I ever wish to be related to Bini...I once lived there. I dont want to be offensive here but DONT ever lower me enough to connect me to Bini. You worship your fellow human who you are probably wiser than...Oga I am an Nri offspring!! Get that in your head! As for Bini kingdom being the biggest in Africa ...lol...I dont want to be mean and put you in your place. I dont envy anything out of Bini. Onicha people can cross over and join you but history must be preserved. Onicha has no Bini ancestry and history shows that. Finally, I don't celebrate Zik , he is not my hero , I dont look up to him and no Igbo does. He is a typical Onicha man with unmerited ego...Onicha people are brags and anybody who brags carelessly can even claim he is a pile of feces if you told him people would love him for it. Side note: Zik didn't achieve greatness not more than Achebe. With all his purported intelligence he got played...lol |

samuk: Excerpt: “One day I asked her (grandmother) the meaning of the word ‘Onitsha’. She explained that it had historical significance. The terminology meant one who despised another. It is a contraction of two words, Onini to despise, and Ncha meaning others. So that the two words when joined together mean one who despises others. Then I asked her why we despised others. She patted me on the back and told me that it was due to our aristocratic background and tradition. I insisted that she should explain to me the basis of this supercilious social attitude. She told me that we despised others because we descended from the Royal House of Benin and so regarded ourselves as the superiors of other tribes who had no royal blood in their veins, “ “I continued to belabor my grandmother to tell me more of the history and origins of the Onitsha people. She narrated that many many years ago, there lived at Idu (Benin) a great Oba who had many children. Due to a power struggle regarding the right of precedence among princes of the blood and other altercations, there was a civil war in Benin. One day, the supporters of one of the princes insulted and assaulted Queen Asije, the mother of of the Oba of Benin, who was accused of having trespassed on their farmland. Enraged at this evidence of indiscipline and lawlessness, the Oba ordered his war chief and brother, Gbunwala Asije to apprehend and punish the insurgents. In the attempt to penalise them, Chima, the ultimate founder of the Onitsha city-state, a prince of the blood in his own right, led the recalcitrants against his Uncle, Gbunwala. This intensified the civil war which rent the kingdom of Benin in two and led to the founding of Onitsha Ado N’Idu, , ” “As the great trek from Benin progressed, some did not have the stout heart of the pioneer-warrior, and decided to settle at different places, known today as Onitsha -Ugbo, Onitsha-Olona, Onitsha-Mili, Obior, Issele Ukwu, Ossomari, Aboh, etc, ” SOURCE – Nnamdi Azikiwe: My Odyssey, Chapter I (Spectrum Books, 1970) “My Genealogy and Nativity” p 11 – 12 What do I do with this delusion of grandeur ? If you dont agree on this one
I will have to request an early 1800 picture of an igbo man wearing bead
Would you say this hand fan his igbo........
This is chief ezomo 1897 pics You must learn the Bini people are relatively younger to the Igbo people, therefore there are many things you have no knowledge of. We have practiced Nze na Ozo in antiquity before you migrated to your present location and the hand fan(akupe), fly wisk , beads ,etc were nze na ozo paraphernalia. The reddish Igbo beads "aka" are made from a unique stones found in the Omanbala river. The hand fan and horse tail were being used way before Bini kingdom existed. The oldest horse You have been fed a lot of lies by your elders and you swallowed hook line and sinker. The corral beads are very recent because Nri has been using the highly scarce and expensive stone based beads. They are not common and you can only find them mostly among older Ozo men in western Igbo and Anambra.

gregyboy: He is just saying they have a unique names which are original to thier own people which is not igbo persay but a mixture of edo-igbo names and with a unique spellings
Even amongst the real igbos they have thier individual igbo dialect unique to thier various clan
So as the agbor people he is not saying they are not igbos but he is maintaining that accepting the general igbo culture is what is wrong and he doesn't want that, even if they are igbos he still want to maintain his unique igbo identity which is a mixture of igbo and edo
Osita Osadebe is from atani in anambra an area close to the anioma regions and that is also few km from onitsha, he mainted his anioma name osadebe which can be interpreted as osadeba( god is with me) in benin This are the unique names indigenous to the anioma areas, he is probably against his fathers to allow total igbo influence on thier people
And he is not been exuberant he is been a good leader to his people An Atani or Onicha man has more in common with a person from Imo to an Agbor man. Personally , I would want Ika to join Bini. Meanwhile, Osadebe is a common name found primarily i n Anambra and Enuani...so are Osakwe , Mordi , Nwosa , Chukwuma etc. Also , bear in mind that most westrern Igbos were originally from Anambra. gregyboy: Have you seen me claiming all the world belonging to igbo or even a benin person creating a thread for it
The thread says the word Ise is fast becoming the general word for amen in the east removing the indigenous ones meaning the word ise was originally distinct from igbos
Ise is a word shared by western igbos and edo we can only draw the conclusion its from edo
Even if usa are world power today it will never rewrite it history that the British never colonized it, and had influenced over it
But over here in nigeria tribalism will not allow the truth to be the truth
Out of million of word in igbiod lexicon benin are telling you one was loaned from them You won chop me..... Like benin never once at onetime smell of having contact with any igbo at anytime in history
Benin red coral beads are been worn today by igbos and other southern nigeria does it make it not benin owned Firstly , the Op never said isee was "removing the indigenous one". He maintained he read a book where he saw a variant word in "Ofooo." An intelligent person who has studied the Igbo people may learn the people use various words from clan to clan that means same thing yet different in pronunciation. For instance , some Igbo say "kawo" , "daalu" , "imeela" "deje" ,"deme", "ndewo" and they all mean the same thing , thank you! You Nigerians misunderstand Igbo because of your own ignorance...dont blame us. The Igbo is the most diverse both in language , looks and thoughts. You cant put the Igbo in a box. First off, Bini doesnt have the clout to colonize nor influence little villages around them and this has been confirmed by the fact that they could barely retain their original tongue and no group around them spoke Bini. You are not powerful and you didnt control jack! Eventually , Igbo will replace your already extinct Bini tongue. The western Igbo are over 70% Anambra migrants , 10% Edo , 10% Igala , 10% others. They were probably and could be much older than you given their population. You developed a monarchy system and it ends there! Before Bini learned how to make coral beads we were already making beads for Nze na Ozo titled men using the reddish stones found at the bottom of Omanbala river....Our beads are more reddish and stand out....I will post it

UdechiHD: Mine was a response to Letu’s arrogance that tried to ascribe Isee to Eri and he even went on to belittle it as an IPOB innovation. I only blasted that Ngwa orientation in his head. Isee is an aboriginal Igbo word.
Yes, they are and we can easily tell where they are limited to.
I only added my opinion to the thread.
False, Igbo communities are not losing their individuality. Every clan still speak their dialect. Where there seems to be a change to a more centralized Igbo is usually in Urban areas such as Onitsha, Owerri, Umuahia, Aba, Enugu etc and we know why? Secondly, these overhyped losing of individuality is over blown by those who want to destroy the fabrics of Igbo Izugbe and they’ll fail in that mission. The central Igbo is only reverting all Igbo groups to the ancestral or let me say purest form of Igbo language.
Who attacked first? Check up Letu and Chinenye’s response and tell me if it’s different from the Eri groups with myopic intentions. They should have told us what they call Isee in their dialects and not denigrate the Isee that is a general word for Amen in Igbo language. The purpose of this silly twaddle was to attack Nri by an inconsequential soul. |

UdechiHD: We are annoying when those with a faint idea of Igbo origin, language and migrations want to tell a different history. Why didn’t the historians who compiled the Igbo language pick Ngwa, because it isn’t pure. Why did they pick from the Isu/Awka belt. I’m not against what you call Isee in your dialect, but please you and Letu should mind how you castigate Isee. Your Kpoo is not aboriginal but Isee is pure Igbo word for Amen.
The major Igbo groups that can claim authochtonous across the Niger remains those within the Awka/Isu heartland. Historians can attest to this fact with archeological findings. Igbo Ukwu is a proof of this. In Awka they exist an Isuaniocha and in as far as Arochukwu they is still an Isu that didn’t fold to the Aro.
Your Ngwa migrated with Mbaise from Isu to their current location. And no matter how you want to disprove this fact, you should know that the evidence are available. So when we are talking about Igbo ancestral dialect don’t come and tell us a bastardized form.
It is quite unfortunate that certain groups emerge from non-Igbo areas to claim superiority over the aborigines. The same way the Aro groups emerge to usurp Isu in the south was similar way Eri came to usurped Awka up north. You are obsessed with Nri and because of this you are making conjectures with information that doesn't align. You want to attack Nri and Eri but since you are bereft of any reasonable information you just grasping at straws....nonsense Cc. UdechiHD |

1. Flora Nwapa: First Female Bestselling Writer in Africa. Her book "Efuru" is widely regarded as an achievement for women in literature. Her memory was honoured by Google doodle last year. Other great female writers like Buchi Emecheta, Chimamanda Adichie, Chika Unigwe, Tricia Nwaubani, etc have all been inspired in one way or the other by this legendary slay mama. Imo state should name an institution after this woman to immortalize. Mumu Rochas didn't even build a monument or statue after this icon.
2. Dora Akunyili: First female DG of NAFDAC. She was regarded as the most effective public servant of the 2000s in Nigeria due to her successful crusade against substandard food and drug products. During her tenure, NAFDAC became recognized by the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA and World Health Organization WHO as a leading research institute in West Africa. Neighbouring countries like Ghana had to bring their products for testing. Dora is till today the most decorated public servant in Nigeria. She was a proud daughter of Anambra.
