Are sure Igbo aren't really interested in Benin history after presenting you with documentary videos of Igbo from Nri or Agueleri, the heartland of Igbo claiming the entire Benin history including the Oba himself. The real Igbos from Nri are falling over themselves to claim Benin history and someone from a little known village in the fringes of Igbo land is here telling the audience how Igbo is not interested in Benin history, what a pretentious fallacious statement grin cheesy

I would have expected you by now to travel to Nri and tell the elders there how wrong you think they are but instead you are here pretending to be speaking for the Igbos in a faceless forum.

All major tribes in southern Nigeria are fixated with Benin history, the envy oozes to high heavens. We have seen Yoruba done it and now witnessing Igbo doing it. You can't tell me you are speaking for Igbos after I have seen videos of Igbo elders from the heartland of Igbo excitingly showcasing their own versions of Benin/Igbo connection to the entire world to see.
I need to laugh at this because it's just hilarious. You Bini or whatever think yourself too important just because of those inferior Ikas that give you too much attention.

But , first of all, take a closer look at my handle, IDE-NNAA (Idemmili of my ancestors), if you know Idemmili in Anambra very then you would know I am from the east. Secondly, the towns of Idemmili like Umuoji, Abatete , Nkpor/Umuideke , Ojoto , Nnokwa etc have strong Nri presence. Based on this premise I wonder where you get the idea that we , the Nri are "claiming" your history. What history do you have that could be more beautiful than my elegant culture. In case you dont know , the vast majority of Igbo consider your culture fetish , diabolic and dirty. You are not that important to the Igbo.

By the way , I didn't watch that video...why would I watch some videos made by some confused entities. Are they historians?

Igbo is too mighty to concern ourselves with one village king at Bini. We don't revel on things with little significance. Bini is insignificant!

Nna biko leave that thing. You expect me to believe you didn't watch the video. Even if you didn't watch it, others did and it's now official that it's not just the Yoruba that are laying claim to the Oba of Benin, the Igbos also have their claim.

You are busy looking for the alleged slaves descendants in Delta state whilst your Igbo brothers have moved many steps ahead to the stage of even appropriating the entire Benin kingdom and the Oba to themselves. Guy, your people have left you behind, you need to catch up. grin cheesy leave the slave history for Reno and concentrate on the modern day historical narratives by your people. Nothing to be embarrassed about. The Yoruba have been doing exactly the same thing since 1930 and you guys have been clapping for them, hope they also support and clap for you for trying to steal their fairytale.
Igbos aren't really interested in Bini history because it doesn't interest us. We debate some western Igbo on their Bini ancestry claims and that's how you people get into our discussion, otherwise , we careless about what happens in your land. You are really a sub-tribe of Yoruba. That's who you share blood with. Can't you see Bini never crossed Anioma...you only fought communities in the periphery of Anioma. Igbo get strong head ooo

Now that he's giving them a little history lesson on how they were once slaves Reno has now turned to an igbo hater.

A tribe of egotistical money worshipping humans who can't handle criticism or opposite arguments. High level group narcissism and marginalization complex. What's paining them is the thought that they were once slaves to the "commo" bini.. opening threads upon threads to treat their wounded ego. Lol, from ffk to Reno..... grin

He disclosed that ‘Iguaro Eze Nri’ used to be the biggest festival in Igbo land, performed in the palace of Eze Nri by Eze Nri, dating from 900AD. And that the Onitsha people in 1750 AD introduced ‘Ofala’: a festival very similar to Nri yam festival of ‘Onwasato’ celebrated in the 8th month of the Igbo year, when Onitsha was founded. Onwuejeogwu in one of his publication, “An Igbo Civilisation: Nri Kingdom and Hegemony” (1981), graphically shows the proclamation of Igbo New Year as one of the ten mystical powers of Eze Nri.

Speaking on the concept of the year deriving from 13 lunar months, Prince Onyesoh noted; “Before the British liquidation in August 1911, Nri had developed its concept of “Aro” – the year. As earlier stated, “Aro” is a supernatural force revealed to Eze Nri in the past; then Nri transformed it into a cycle of one year. “Aro” is divided into thirteen segments, namely: ‘Onwa Agumaro’, usually falls around mid February of the Gregorian calendar. This is the month for the proclamation of the beginning of the Igbo lunar calendar by Eze Nri for all Igbo. It is followed by ‘Onwa Mbu, Onwa Abuo, Onwa Ife Eke, Onwa Ano, Onwa Agwu, Onwa Ifejioku, Onwa Iliji, Onwa Ilommuo “Onwasato”, Onwa Ana, Onwa Okike, Onwa Ajana na Edeaja, Onwa Uzo Alusi.’

“The lunar system of calculating the year with a system of adjustment, were known to the Nri priests of Alusi Aro. Knowledge of the movement of the heavenly bodies was employed. Northcote Thomas (MA, FRAI) the colonial government anthropologist in 1910, identified and reported that he got “names for the following heavenly bodies at Agukwu, Nri: “Pleiades, Orion and Great Bera”. Nri elders had clear knowledge of these stars and others, which helped them in calculating the intervals between each lunar period and finding the directions during their sojourn from one Igbo-village to another in both the semi-forest and forest zones.”

Igbo had knowledge of astronomy and movements of celestial bodies

Igbo has a well designed dating calendar before the Gregorian calender. We have 9 months in this calendar and 4 days in a week.

We also have a list of all the Eze Nri chronologically arranged to date.

That is the narrative you try to project when we know it is just part of your narcissistic projection

You have an idealized view of yourselves and a devalued view of others while the reality is very different

We have seen rulers dethroned in the north so that claim is false
In the West we have seen women regents and so on

The point is the way you project yourself is very different from what you really are

Does Eze sound like Edo world to you?

Igbo enwe Eze yet we have word for Eze that remains same from Igbanke in Edo State, to Isobo in Cross River, and from Umuezekhoha in Benue to Ikwerre in Rivers State?

Where is your Brain?

Igbos had Ezes but they were stripped of powers and rendered ceremonial.
So yes we have Ezes, yet they were and are not Ezes in the real sense of what a King entails.
Hence Igbo enwe Eze is hard for a non Igbo to understand.

In Igbo we say: Eze bu ilo/iro meaning a King is an Enemy. We bear this as a name too to remind us why we don't want kings.

The ancient Igbos knew that the Idea of King with King powers is not beneficial to the people, so they either made away totally with kings, or retained kings but only as ceremonial vestiges and in priestly roles, to keep their powers well checked.

So yes! Igbo enwe Eze! cool
The Igbo philosophy teaches against bestowing too much power on a single person....Igbo enwe eze is real , but it beats their imagination...lol

Patterned inform of regalia and some other stuffs.
That's all about it.

Obi of Onitsha is not an authoritarian who dictated for Onitsha people.
There was Nze na Ozo
There was Ofo na Ogu, etc.

They borrowed the flamboyancy of your Monarchy but not the power of the Oba.

And mind you, the Bini Oba is a direct offshoot of Yoruba Oba, who civilized the bush Ogies of the Ogisos era and relegated them to the background and rule over them and their decendants till today.
I remember that the decendants of the Ogiemein are still in court today fighting to overthrow the Yoruba Oba rulling in Bini today. When you remember that Onitsha Igbo ancestors were in Ife and know a lot about Yoruba Obaship, you can begin to connect the dots.
So who knows, if we go to the root of it , it could as well be that Onitsha borrowed the Monarchy from Ife and not Bini, either way, Onitsha Monarchy was modified into acceptable Igbo tenets of democracy and Republicanism.
How about that?
I wouldn't use the word "patterned" , rather borrowed the idea of monarchy. Everything about Onicha is 99.9 % Igbo.

... to hear an account of the Benin massacre of 1897 and its sequel from one who had taken part. It is a story that still has power to amaze and horrify, as well as to remind us that the British had motives for pushing into Africa other than the intention to exploit the natives and glorify themselves. Here, for instance, are some extracts from the diary of a surgeon who took part in the expedition.:- 'As we neared Benin City we passed several human sacrifices, live women slaves gagged and pegged on their backs to the ground, the abdominal wall being cut in the form of a cross, and the uninjured gut hanging out. These poor women were allowed to die like this in the sun. Men slaves, with their hands tied at the back and feet lashed together, also gagged, were lying about. As we neared the city, sacrificed human beings were lying in the path and bush—even in the king's compound the sight and stench of them was awful. Dead and mutilated bodies were everywhere — by God! May I never see such sights again! .
Such were the doings of our sophisticated greatest empire ever build on earth. Civilization indeed!

One day, we'll talk abt if the Igbos were completely Republican as they say grin
Our pattern of settlement lends credence to our Republican nature. Every decision we make goes through many layers of deliberations; umu okpu( daughters of the land and very powerful) , ndi Nze na Ozo and its many categories( initiated noble class) , age grades , Eze ani ( head of customs and traditions) etc. These groups ensures checks and balance in dispensation of justice in many parts of Igbo land.

I said onicha was founded by the benins
https://www.britannica.com/place/Onitsha-Nigeria

If we are to go by the anichebe version which is also the Benin version it's even worse.
Chima the son of the Oba who was most likely birthed by Ika slave was denied the throne so he took some loyalist and migrated far away across the Niger.
I was basically talking about Onitsha being founded by Benin adventurers and modeled after the Benin monarchy.
Wait , where the Obi of Onicha say Onicha was founded by Bini people (people of Bini ancestry) ? And , do you even know the history and traditions of Onicha ?
