Politics › Re: Sex-For-Food Destroying Girls, Women In North-East IDPs Camps by Idiko1: 6:38pm On May 14, 2021
ijustdey:
Human rights groups working to address humanitarian crisis in the terrorism-infested region of Nigeria’s Northeast, have decried the continued “transactional sex” which they said was destroying both women and girls in various Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDPs). A report obtained by our correspondent from Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP) in Abuja, revealed that both government officials, security agents and other camp managers have continued to subject both women and girls to sexual exploitation and abuses of varying degrees.

The report said that while these vulnerable women and girls narrowly escaped terrorists and killers of their loved ones, they have fallen into the hands of sexual predators, who now trade food for sex, with items meant to be distributed free of charge in the camps. According to the report, food items donated to the IDPs by government, international donor agencies, and humanitarian organisations were being hoarded and sometimes diverted by the camp managers.

It also stated that more worrisome was the fact that security agents detailed to protect the vulnerable people have also been severally fingered in this sordid situation, yet relevant government agencies have failed to show accountability, by thoroughly investigating and punishing the perpetrators of the sexual abuses.

It further revealed that even pregnant women have not been spared, as many of them are said to have been continuously raped in the presence of their helpless children. It was also learnt that both international and regional human rights bodies have, at different occasions, called on the Nigerian government to investigate, prosecute and punish perpetrators, but nothing has been done.

“International and regional human rights bodies have urged Nigeria to investigate, prosecute, and punish perpetrators of alleged sexual exploitation, including transactional sex in IDPs. Food distribution was under the authority of males, creating the conditions for sexual abuse due to scarcity of food. “The government’s failure to respond to these violations has raised concerns that it has not prioritized its obligation to protect women and girls from SGBV or to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes,” the reports said.

There is a new slogan for the recent unity in Southern Nigeria. When I say "United South" response is "On A Restructured Nigeria We Stand".

This unity in Southern Nigeria need to be solidified and let us erase backwardness. We need to love each other and fight together for a good purpose.

United South !
This is Yoruba stunt and it is dead on arrival. There is nothing such as "United South". On the red colored, only when Lagos and Abuja, which are built with commonwealth, are situated in the defunct Eastern and Midwestern regions respectively. If this scenario cannot be met, I resolutely say disintegration of the shithole called Nigeria is the best option.

What do you think of a new Republic of Southern (RSN)? The meeting of 17 Southern governors, the forum of Southern Senators and the new alliances between PANDEF, Ohaneze, Afenifere is a not a coincidence. The South need to come together and harness her enourmous potentials, cultural and religious afinity to create the best nation in Africa. With an estimated 120million people, RSN would be the destination of choice in Africa. Economically, RSN would be fully self sustaining.
Understandably, some would say Yoruba and Igbos hate themselves that is a lie. Even if so or be that as it may, the minorities can create an effective power balance. Nigeria as it is now has no future. The fulanis and their leadership have created a divisive country with killing all over.
Let IPOB/ESN drop their Biafra quest, let Igboho and Akintoye drop their quest for Oduduwa and seek a common ground on a republic of SOUTHERN Nigeria. For a start RSN need to create a constitution that gives every citizen a right to life. Right to live in any part of the coutry, right to aspire to any political, economic and social status. A right to education upto high school level. Right to freely practise theur religion, cultural celebration and social relationship.A nation where there is respect for human dignity. Respect for human lives, not a country where corruption is rife and terrorism is the norm. Rather a country of social justice, equity and fairness. A nation peopled by progressives and not religious bigots. A nation whose security agencies protect lives rather than snuff it out.
I felt very horrible and my stream thought resolutely remained there are certain ninnies in the shithole called Nigeria that will never become my compatriot given a second chance. I am strictly for Republic of Igbo land. It is high time Igbo nationality took its rightful place on earth.

I do not really see any sense in this kind of argument as no one as the data. But to think or assume that because the Ibo dominated the civil service in the 60s means they are the most educated is wrong. Ibos and hausas control the federal government in the 60s through Tafawa Balewa and Nnamdi Azikwe. They both shared Nigeria based on two things - Tafawa was smarter than the Igbo assumed him to be, he took almost all the federal projects to the north. Azikwe put his people in the civil service not because there were no other educated Nigerians but it is just simply tribalism and nothing else, however all the founding fathers were all guilty of this. There were yoruba professors and even some of the foremost professors in many fields in Nigeria are yorubas so there is no way he could have said there was no professor of yoruba origin to head Unilag or U.I.

Just to ask you a question the north dominated or head almost head almost all civil service posts today, does that mean they are the most educatedhuh? The yoruba leads in the private sector today and from your logic we can assume they are the most educated as wellhuh Everybody is just trying to massage their ego.

The truth is the Ibo or let me say Ibo leaders underestimated the north and thought they were not intelligent because of their level of western education at that time forgetting that they had the most advacned form of governance before the british came and were already literate before then as well - this is due to their early interaction with the Arabs. Ahmad Bello and Tafawa Bale were not educated up to master level I doubt they both even had B.Sc but they outsmarted a PhD holder (Azkiwe). Azikwe quickly realized they were not dumb as he thought and next thing some people thought was to eliminate them. Azikwe mission was to make Ibo control both the civil service and the direction of the government reason for his alliance with the north thinking they were f**l because of their level of education. He was proved wrong and only achieved one which is the civil service and they realized the only way to control the government is by taking the two topmost northerners out and they did.
Arrant nonsense!!! There were governments before the NPC and NCNC coalition government and they were not led by Nigerians. Zik and NCNC forced the hands of the colonial masters to establish University Collage in Ibadan. Also University of Lagos was the product of NCNC under the federal ministry of education led by Aja Nwachukwu. In the same vein, Zik and NCNC established the first indigenous university in Nigeria. In addition, there was a high school in Nigeria fondly called "Eton College" of Nigeria and certainly not in Yoruba land. I do not join issue with silly and childish vomits as show with bolded in above crap.

On the same level, the British also delegated extremely advanced Igbo peeps to organize social decorum in southwestern Cameroon. farem:
Is The Southwest Just ‘’Area Boys and Fake Pastors’?

By now, you may have read the comments of one Olu Okeowo, who belittled the people of the Southwest when he said inter alia, as follows:

''I have noticed, electricity is no longer in abundant supply because Shiroro has been surrounded. Gerreru has been surrounded. Electricity is being generated in the North. Those who are saying divide don't know what they are saying. Even if we divide today, the gas that they would use to run any turbine comes from another area.

Unfortunately, my people here from the Southwest will be the ones to lose out most because what we have produced mostly are area boys and fake pastors. We need to pray for the unity of Nigeria.''

In my opinion, it is very myopic for anyone to say that all that the Southwest has produced is “mostly are area boys and fake pastors”. It is just not true. And obviously so.

The Southwest produces the greatest resource on planet Earth-education. They have the most educated population in Nigeria. And not just the most educated, but the most sophisticated.

Japan and Singapore have perhaps the least natural resources in the world. But they are nevertheless some of the most developed nations on Earth, because what is between the ears is more important than what is beneath the ground.

If Nigeria had no quota system, and we employed our workforce strictly on merit, people from the Southwest will dominate almost every sector in Nigeria. It is not because they are more intelligent than other Nigerians. It is because, thanks to a man named Obafemi Awolowo, they are the most educated Nigerians, bar none.

I am from the South-South, and my people resent the fact that the oil industry is dominated by people of Southwest origin, even when the oil is in our land. Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Total, amongst others, are all dominated by people of Southwest origin. The same is true in banking, media, telecommunications, and advertising.

If the Southwest want to bring down a government, they have the infrastructure to use propaganda to tear that administration down. They have done it before and they can do it again. That is power. That is influence. The Yoruba understand that the pen is mightier than the sword.

The only sectors that the Yoruba do not dominate are sectors that they do not want to dominate, either because they look down on such sectors, like the military or police, or because dominating it will require them to leave Southern Nigeria, and many people of Southwest origin will rather be poor, than move to Northern Nigeria. That, they leave to people of Southeast origin.

And it is highly ignorant to say that the Southwest depends on other regions for electricity. Not true. The Southwest has Papalanto, Olorunsogo 1 and 2, Egbin Thermal Power station and Omotosho 1 and 2. It seems that Mr. Okeowo still has a 1960s mindset. Today’s Nigerian electricity is not solely hydro based (Kainji Dam, Geregu, etc). Those days are long gone.

In terms of commodities, the Southwest is Nigeria’s cocoa and cassava heartland, and competes with Benue as the yam centre of Nigeria.

And last but not the least, the Southwest has one of the most viable assets in Nigeria-ports. Tin Can Island port, and the Lagos Port Complex, are the gateways to Nigeria’s commerce.

When you add the fact that the Southwest has the most developed infrastructure in Nigeria, and that her industrial capacity is more than the industrial capacity of the rest of Nigeria combined (it will shock you to note that Ikeja Local Government Area and Agbara Industrial estate alone, consume more electricity than the entire Northwest, or that Alaba International Market generates almost $7 billion annually), you begin to understand that that statement by Mr. Okeowo is fallacious.

Lagos state has a bigger internal economy than Kenya or Ghana. If Lagos state were a country on its own, she would have the 7th largest economy in Africa with a GDP of over $100 billion (compared to $95 billion for Kenya and $67 billion for Ghana).

And funny enough, most people do not even know that the Southwest has oil in commercial quantity in both Ondo and Lagos.

So, it was very flippant and ignorant for Mr. Olu Okeowo to have badmouthed his own region so badly. Whose script is he acting? I do not know.

I am not agitating for the division of Nigeria. However, to say that if Nigeria divides, the Southwest will suffer, is utter nonsense. I had previously thought Olu Okeowo was vacuous. But now, I am sure of it.

But why would a man of Southwest origin misrepresent his own region and people so badly?

I am a researcher, and one thing I know is that it is more likely to get a person of Southwestern origin to betray their region’s group interests, than it is to get a Northerner, or an Igbo to do so.

You see it on social media platforms and the online comment sections of Nigerian newspapers.

People with Yoruba names will attack their own leaders and undermine them, and others with Southeastern and Northern names would join them.

However, you will hardly ever see a Northerner attacking a fellow Northerner, and of a person from another region does it, they will forget about their internal differences and unite against the interloper.

Why? Why is the Southwest like this?

Some people say it has to do with the curse of Alaafin Aole, or Epe Alaafin Aole.

According to the late Reverend Samuel Johnson’s book ‘The History of the Yorubas: From the Earliest Times to the Beginning of the British Protectorate’, the Yoruba nation, or more specifically the Oyo Empire, prodded on by Aare Ona Kakanfo Afonja, betrayed their king, Alaafin Aole, and killed him.

However, before he was killed, Alaafin Aole placed a curse on his people by firing mystical arrows in three directions, and said that just as those arrows went in various directions, that the Yoruba, (or Olukunmi people, or Edekiri speakers) would never be united.

The Yoruba are a very ancient and mystical people, and this enchantment by Alaafin Aole is very credible, because a similar incident happened in Scripture in 2 Kings 13:15-19.

But I do not know if this curse can still be said to hold water, because the Yoruba nation united, more or less, under the leadership of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, particularly after the death of Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola.

Whether true or not, it may be a good idea for leaders of the Yoruba nation to call Mr. Okeowo to order, lest he becomes yet another modern day Afonja. The Yoruba already have Bola Tinubu. They may not need another Quisling.

In life you have to work with what fate handed to you. For years after the end of WW2, Germany also struggled to accept the new boundaries of Germany,USSR and the allies drew.
USSR had claimed large parts of Eastern Poland and in return would have parts of Eastern Germany given to Poland as compensation.
It was a bitter pill for Germany to swallow, but you can't negotiate things to your terms from a position of weakness.
Eventually it dawned on Germany that to move on from the war and rebuild their unity, they had to give away those lands.

It was painful as native Germans in those parts had to leave the land or become polish.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oder%E2%80%93Neisse_line

Today Germany is the strongest country in Europe again and if for any reason they still want those lands, they would damn take it by force now, and nothing any bastard can do about it.

Nothing we can do about FG new boundaries of Igboland. We lost a war and that tends to happen when you lose a war.
We have to make peace with those boundaries. Work with it, grow our power (miliarily and economically) excruciatingly and quietly and then come for what is ours no matter how long it takes.
That's how rational people behave. You must always negotiate from a position of power and not of weakness.

And yes! Ikwerres and all those Igbophobic Igboids are nothing but liabilities to us currently.

BTW. Obiigbo is Ndoki and Asaland. Those are proud Igbos, they are not Igbophobic Igboids and I have nothing against them. They are bonafide and genuine Igbos, I have nothing but love for them.
Above analogy pits most Nigerians against ignorance. Igbo land was not a country but a part of Nigeria. It is unfortunate in your figment of imagination, Igbo land had to bear the brunt of the defunct eastern region of Nigeria which was essentially Biafra.

RE: NIGERIAN ARMY SHUNS SOUTHERN OFFICERS, DEPLOY NORTHERN COMMANDERS TO QUELL TENSION IN SOUTH EAST

The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to an online publication anchored by SAHARA REPORTERS and cohorts titled “NIGERIAN ARMY SHUNS SOUTHERN OFFICERS, DEPLOY NORTHERN COMMANDERS TO QUELL TENSION IN SOUTH EAST”.

Ordinarily, the NA would have ignored this illogical narrative by the online media but for the good of members of the public. The NA condemn this report targeted at steering discord and disunity among peace loving Nigerians who have refused to be drawn into supporting the senseless attacks on security apparatus in the South East and South South geopolitical zones of the country. The NA being a national body does not promote or post its personnel along ethnic or religious lines. Postings in the NA are routine exercises and are based on professional competences not as portrayed by the baseless publication. For the records, let be clear in everyone's mind that the NA does not train, deploy or operate along ethnic, religious, tribal or regional divides. Senior officers are posted to command units based on their capability and competence taking into consideration their posting history.

Furthermore, Officers are the most frequently posted personnel of the NA. However, because of the bias and seed of discord that the author of the report wanted to sow, it did not allow him to do a thorough background check of his report. Part of the poorly scripted article states that NA's deployment is based on ethical line. This is one of the dumbest opinions of the writer. To put the record straight, while it is true that the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Enugu, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja is from South West, the Commander 34 Brigade Owerri Brigadier General Raymond Utsaha is from the North Central. Major General Gold Chibuisi is of the South East extraction and is also the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Ibadan which is the largest in number of states under command including 4 Brigade in Edo State. Equally, Brigadier General Farouk Mijinyawa was never the Commander of 16 Brigade as misrepresented by the writer. It is therefore clear that the concocted story lacks everything in terms of credibility and exists only in the pigment of the author's imagination.

The NA urge the general public to know that in the past months, several subversive elements have attempted to discredit the formidable security network in the South East and the NA in line with her constitutional roles of aiding the civil authority deployed officers and men to checkmate the activities of these bad elements who are bent on wrecking havoc in the region. The amateurish article presented in a self-styled fictitious movie like scenario devoid of even the basic rudiments of a news report is simply unacceptable.

The uncoordinated and poorly written article exposes the real intent albeit the very low IQ of the author and that speaks volumes on the motive of the publisher.

Furthermore, the NA would like to request all peace loving Nigerians to disregard the content of the said article in its entirety as it lacks common logic. The NA under the able leadership of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru remains committed to the defence of the territorial integrity of Nigeria as well as protecting lives and properties of all citizens and residents in Nigeria. The NA further solicits for the continuous support of all patriotic Nigerians in stamping out activities of criminals including subversive and divisive elements for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

Why I don't caution people of the South East against following the path of the North East is because there is no point trying to do that to someone who is determined, who fails to reason beyond his euphoria.

Every time I read some of their comments, I remember how the North East started. They are following the same pattern, as if they borrowed the template. When it started in the NE and security agencies were being targeted for attacks, some people applauded them because of their perception of the security agencies as oppressors of the common people.

Then it went on to eliminating members of the society who were suspected to be informing the authorities about the group. When all those were eliminated, they turned on the whole society and that was when people realised that what they were applauding was actually coming for them, but that was coming a little too late.

Now the sequence is repeating itself in the South East, but I have seen those who attempt to caution them being shouted down with insults. Oh ignorance I say.

Yesterday, when 'unknown gun men' reportedly killed some members of a vigilante group, and people were asking the rationality behind killing the same Igbos whose liberation they claim to be championing, the response was that they were cleaning the filth among them who were working with the gov't against the common interest.

Right now in their own imagination, they think it is impossible for the now friendly 'unknown gun men' to turn their guns against the population, the same way some people of the North East never believed those who were struggling to establish a 'just and fair' society could turn against them, but here we are.

So since the South East has refused to learn from the mistakes of the North East, I say welcome.
The above crap makes the write a typical African who cannot think. Why should you even think of war or violence when people protest or agitate for self-determination? Nigerian signed onto the 2007 UN self-determination declaration.

Nobody has said, and I did not say Ikwerre is Igbo, but it is doubtless that Ikwerre as a multi ancestral ethnic block has most of its ancestry traced to Igbo. All the crap that Igbo hates Ikwerre is just a post civil war narrative and script and has never worked for us.
Do you know what is called carbon dating, anthropology, archaeological investigation or DNA of a people? It is there for us to apply further beyond rabblerousing. By the way, assuming without conceding, let us look at it, what Bini documents have you studied or can anyone reference that has Ikwerre or Iwhuoroha as you call it as validating the purported Ikwerre-Bini origin? What is Bini about Ikwerre? Are you aware that Bini people have denied any link with Ikwerre on record?

Ironically, Elele people are in court in Benin claiming that they own Bini and not the other way round. They claim strongly that they were in the land of Bini as owners before the arrival of Bini people in history. It will be an interesting legal engagement.
Are you also aware that there are lots of Ikwerre prominent families that have traced their ancestry to Ngwa, Arum, etc in Igbo land? Are you Aware that Ohaji in Imo state is an Ikwerre clan which Prof. Otinti affirmed in his book History of Ikwerre People Volume 1?

Do you know about Ikwerre-Ede in Imo State?? When you struggle to assert an erroneous Bini ancestry or kill the Igbo roots, you raise the flawed argument of abandoned property yet for the records:
1. Sir Jackson Mpi, first and last Ikwerre to be conferred with Knight of the Order of British Empire, OBE, by Queen Elizabeth II of England in 1960, identified himself as Igbo. From the ancient Kingdom of Isiokpo, Sir Mpi worked tirelessly for Igbo advancement.
2. Dr Obi Wali was the first Ikwerre PhD holder, senator and university lecturer. He was also the only Ikwerre in the 1978 Constituent Assembly where he was selected as one of the 50 Wise Men that drafted the 1979 constitution. The great Dr Wali identified fully with his Igbo heritage and was gruesomely assassinated defending it.
3. Okogbule Wonodi, first Ikwerre registrar of any university, first and only Ikwerre poet and Paramount title Holder of Eze Ohiaemeru.Ohiaemeru, where you have present-day Comprehensive College in Borokiri, was his ancestral home before the British vacated them between 1913-1923. Wonodi remained a respected member of Nzukor Igbo and Ohanaeze Ndigbo till the end of his life.
4. Patriot Emmanuel Aguma was former Mayor of Port Harcourt. As Principal of St John College, Diobu, he was the first Ikwerre to head any college. One of six pre-independence Ikwerre University graduates, former administrator of Port Harcourt Province in the defunct Peoples Republic of Biafra, first Ikwere minister in 1979, Aguma remained a member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
5. Emmanuel Oriji was a respected local government administrator, traditional ruler, a commissioner in old Rivers and core Igbo nationalist.
The immediate past Deputy Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Isaac Wonwu, is an illustrious Ikwerre son from Elele. He is known to assert his Igbo identity. Equally valid, Chief Jackson Womenazu from Rumukurushi in the Evo Kingdom is a member of the Elders’ Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
6. In colonial documents, written when Igbos had no capacity to influence anything, Ikwerres also defined themselves as having Igbo ancestry.

When Ikwerre leaders presented their case before the 1957 Sir Henry Willinks Commission, Wobo declared that Ikwerres were Igbos and Port Harcourt to Onitsha was Igbo land.
The cream of Ikwerreland have asserted their Igboness. Most illustrious sons and daughters.
Tell me any Ikwerre whose CV can match those of Mpi, Wobo, Aguma, Wonodi, Dr Wali etc? Even the Ijaws that are not Igbos in any way worked closely with our Igbo counterparts. Amanyagbor of Kalabari was Adviser to Ojukwu on Political Matters.
The great S.P.U Ogan was Adviser on Traditional Matters. Sylvanus Cookey former VC of Uniport was in the Cabinet office of Ojukwu. He and Arthur Mbanefo were the only person in that office. This is why the likes of Alhaji Asari Dokubo have made frantic moves to establish their alliance with Ndi Igbo and the Biafra question. Need I talk about the strong structure of the ogoni block which has been enviably internationalised?? This is despite the fact that Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Ikwerre land has more crude oil than the whole of Ogoni land.

This is the record as verified in the NNPC. Where are we actually, what is the definition of our identity? What is our stake in the Nigerian project and what are our demands?? Is this how we want Ikwerre to die? By playing "be careful?"
Untill Ikwerre does the needful to strongly establish its alliance with her strong neighbours without prejudice, we are nearing extinction in many ways, because of the abuse and misery contributorily brought upon us by our own political elites, who have used our strength to trade their selfish political interests, without empowering our people economically for the future. Ikwerre is one of the highest oil-rich ethnic nationalities, and contributes among the highest barrels daily and in revenue to the federation, account yet attempts have been made to suppress this fact, and our own politicians curiously conspire to kill this basic advantage which should be one of our negotiating tools, just because it is not in their selfish interest as they think.

To them, no other Ikwerre sons or daughters must be millionaires or billionaires but come cap in hand to them. Shame! Let me ask a simple question, if anarchy or war breaks out today, or this disputed Nigeria tears apart, where will Ikwerre be in the equation?

Major ethnic blocks are busy forming cohesion and synergy for the future while we are still fighting identity crisis.
We should better wake up and face reality. Anyone can chose to get primordial about these realities but we can not run away and expect to thrive by taking the back seats in almost everything.

My sister who came from imo lament how security situation in the state had become to me In details and am not happy about it and also the recent ugly development in the south east.

I don't think I am comfortable with the activities of UGM burning police stations and attacking police officers, criminals would take advantage of what
Is happening to unleash terror on innocent Igbos, cultists armrobbers and so many other miscreants would use this as an opportunity to carry out attacks on people and operate more confidently.

Unknown gunmen should reserve the ammunitions they are using to attack police and use it to fight and flush killer Fulani men from the forests bushes of the south east not going about to attack police.

"Unknown gun man reading my thread I beg u to stop attacking security agents and concentrate on protecting Ur community from the millions of marauding miscreants from the sahel waiting to pounce on innocent Igbos and farmers"
It is safe to say you should stop madness about writing crap about UGM. Why are worried about the ammunition for UGM? The task of flushing Fulani herdsmen has been taken by ESN.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Better Together, Tinubu Urges Agitators Of Secession by Idiko1: 11:02pm On May 02, 2021
Odewaleadesoye:
The National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu has called on aggrieved regions clamouring for secession to jettison the idea as the country is better together than separated.

Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State, made the call in his message, at the Special Ramadan Prayer, “Tafsir” Lecture, held at the Lagos House, Marina, on Sunday.

According to him, the war drums some people are beaten will result in the disintegration of the country like Sudan and Iraq.

He further said the country is yet to recover from the effect of the civil war, adding the country can not afford to experience another war.

“For clamouring for war, God will not allow Nigeria to experience war. If we say Nigeria should separate, people should remember what war caused in Sudan and Iraq. Such war does not end on time. We are yet to recover from the civil war.

“We are better together. I have nowhere I am going. Whoever has experienced war in the past will not pray for such. Nigeria will not separate, it’s not acceptable to us. Our prayer is for prosperity and more wealth for the country,” he said.

Tinubu also praised Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat for their achievements in the state.

He expressed satisfaction with their performances, saying that the state has witnessed massive developments since the administration came on board.

Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu, in his message, promised to fulfil his campaign promises and deliver dividends of democracy to residents.

He said the state government has concluded plans to install 2,000 cameras across the state for security surveillance.

“We are going to install 2000 cameras in the whole state. We will stop at nothing at ensuring dividends of democracy,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu assured the Islamic clerics that the proposed new Last Mile Buses, which his administration would unveil this month (May) would tackle the menace of commercial motorcyclist operators, popularly called “Okada” riders.

Speaking further on security, Sanwo-Olu said more funds would be deployed into the Security Trust Fund to empower police and other security operatives, while technology would be deployed around Lagos.

Also, expressing the same view, the National Missioner, Ansaru-deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Ahmad Raman called on those clamouring for secession to have a rethink.

While acknowledging the fact that the rate of insecurity is on the increase, said with constant prayers, change of thoughts and characters by Nigerians, the country would come out victorious.

“Today is hard times, these are uncertain times. This is the time men are supposed to be separated from boys. This is the time that regions need to think out of the box.

“We are insecure, we are unsure, there is hunger, there is anger and confusion in the land. This is the time we need divine intervention. If we gather and pray till 2023, Allah will not listen to us till we do some things,” he said.

Raman added: “This is the time action is required backed by deep thoughts for today and our tomorrow. We have often blamed leaders but we have to choose the kind of leaders we deserve. Everywhere is unsafe even the police station is not safe. We need to rejig.

“For those clamouring for division in Nigeria, maybe you should have a rethink. Ask yourself; where will this clamour for so-called independence lead us? We should reinvent this country. Nigeria will be great again.”

Also, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello ( Oniwasi Agbaye) called for more prayers, saying what Nigeria is facing is a result of sins in the country. He called for unity among Yoruba leaders to support the aspirations of Tinubu to become the President of the country.

Only dumbass fool and probably thick skull Nigerian thinks the clamor for secession equals to war. When the so-called founding fathers of Nigeria clamored for independence, they did not call for war with British. The shithole called Nigeria has been together for more than 60 years and showed no progress. It is a display of selfishness and idiocy for a goon such as Tinubu declare he has no place to go if Nigeria breaks up. A person wonders what shall be the usefulness of Republic of Oduduwa.

Simplyleo:
If the road is to be renamed, its new name can't be after a terrorist. Ikonso or okonso or whatever he called himself, is a terrorist.

Just like naming a road or a house in the North after terrorist muhammed yusuf.
Who the hell are you to call Ikonso a terrorist? You are equally a terrorist.

When I saw France didn't support Biafra then I knew this is a revisionist account.

France and all those aforementioned countries secretly or openly supported Biafra. Fact
Why would France support Biafra? Was Biafra a Francophone country? Did France colonize Nigeria? Again, France did not support Biafra in any way, shape or form during Nigeria/Biafra war. The silly craps and innuendos were propaganda generated by the western regional government of Nigeria to save face from its stupidity of fighting along side with Jihadists from northern region of Nigeria. Biafran military initial arsenal centered on old British Mark V rifles as well as Stern guns and M1Carbine from USA all of WW2 era supplied to Nigeria. There was no single French manufactured rifle in Biafra during the war. Biafra only source of field assault rifles came from Federal Republic of Nigeria.

With the way the security situations currently is in Nigeria. Where one tribe is killing the others( mostly in the middle belts, Easthern, western part of Nigeria)unabated and the resistance from the other tribes are being squished like bug by the federal government forces and tag as terrorists.

my opinion, it's same as the Ugandan genocide where one tribe was killing the other. Could another Civil war brake out again?
Here are the countries that supported either side the last time Nigeria fought a Civil war:
Soviets and Americans supporting the same side. France, China, and Germany on the others. Israel switching sides. And even the Vatican showed up for the party.

You hit a wrong wave on the side of Biafra. The following countries did not support Biafra: France, China, West Germany, Republic of South Africa, Rhodesia ( was not a country), Czechoslovakia, Spain, Portugal and Israel (was fighting war against Arab countries for its survival) in 1967. Zambia (which was independent country and formerly Northern Rhodesia) recognized Biafra so did Haiti, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Gabon. Please be mindful that recognition does not equal military support.

West Germany supplied all G3 assault rifles and Mercedes Benz trucks used by Nigerian army. All the Ak-47 used by Nigerian army was variant of Chinese made Ak-47. Austria supplied Nigeria army with Steyr trucks. Government of France, Portugal, Spain and Czechoslovakia did not support Biafra in any form because British lobbied them to stay away from the internal conflict in its former territory. However individual groups and persons from the aforementioned countries helped Biafra and some paid the ultimate prize. The greatest supplier of arms and ammunitions to Biafra was Federal Republic of Nigeria.
