Heavily armed Boko Haram men have reportedly
taken over Michika, one of the key towns in
Adama state. According to Sahara Reporters, the
sect men arrived the town today September 7th,
chased out Nigerian troops and hoisted their flag
in the town. This is coming three days after the
militants seized Gulak town.


Residents in the town say the Nigerian military
flew over the area but did not attack the sect
men.


Soldiers from the 23 Brigade in Yola, Adamawa
state, are said to have been mobilized to prevent
the sect men from taking over Mubi, a key city
which is some kilometers away from Michika.

Just wondering why they are not reporting on Gwoza where the insurgents are being chased away en masse. I don't expect a Tinubu owned tabloid to report on anything in a way that will paint the Government and Nigerian Army in a good light. Shame on them, Boko Haram members are being killed in their thousands in the outskirts of Bama and Gwoza.

Nigerian Army alone cannot dislodge boko haram again they have missed that plot .. It would take a combined AU task force with air support from the english and french to dislodge BH from any of the towns the have taken now and such an operation will come with grave humanitarian consequences to the West African sub region..

wirinet: I am not a military man and have not had any military training, but common sense dictates you cannot defeat an invading army with airstrikes alone. Airstrikes are supposed to be support for ground troops. They are meant to take out enemy heavy artillary like APCs and tanks to allow for a ground offensive. If Boko Haram has already captured a town like Bama, what is the use of air bombardments without ground troops? what will they be bombing? How will they know where the insurgents are hiding in the city?

It is a big shame that Boko Haram could overrun a military barracks and subsequently capture a whole town of half a million inhabitants in just 12 hours of fighting without any air support. Meanwhile our own soldiers are relying on bombing the insurgents at a distance from the air and hope recapture the town.

I am so sad about the latest developments in Borno.

The funny thing is we don't have any aicraft capable of bombing any target on the ground ..The Chengdu fighters are crap and I aint sure they are being used, the Alphas are light trainers that pack only very small bombs as payload. Those gunships need top come in now.

This is just confirmation Bama fell to the stupid Boko haram , any body that knows our airforce well knows the don't have any aircraft that can hit any thing on the ground the best they can do is drop unguided careless small bombs that would fall any where in bama . If the commanders of the bama barracks are in Maidugri ur guess is as good as mine , by tommorow we will know the true picture but tell ur friends to leave Maidugri just to be safe ooo. To clear the air the Army commander in Bama should hold a press confernce later today from the office of the highest ranking govt official . That should boost the morale of Nigerians.. God Bless the Nigerian Army

eyeview: Now that Boko Haram has released their men to Bama to over run the town and take over,I believe another battalion of troops should be sent to Gworza right now to attack whoever they left behind. The surprise element will work in their favour. Also,now that these Boko haram has relocated from sambisa forest to gworza and the neighbouring villages,over-running these towns will easily see to the release of the chibok girls;atleast they are no more in the forests.
Meanwhile,what is the air force doing in this whole fight? I haven't heard of any air raid or even shelling of any boko haram camp, yet when the president calls for a security council meeting,they will show up. I don't understand how these insurgents will travel for hours on the road to settle in their 'conquered' villages,making themselves easy prey for an airstrike,yet nothing is heard from the airforce. They should be the ones leading the attack by air while the artillery and infant battalions(combatant foot soliders) take strategic positions for those who might be fleeing from the shelling.

Its sad our soldiers have taken a defensive approach to this war , they keep being satified repelling boko haram attack when will the go and attck boko haram so boko can also try to repel.. Like U said immediately Boko haram move for Bama they should have used another unit to move in on Gwoza
