You quoted malachi which is contained in the old testament to defend your view on tithes. I just wanted to remind u that u are a Christian and not an old testament Jew who also stoned adulteresses .

Malachi 3:8 "Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! "But you ask, 'What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?' "You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me". Also Malachi 3:10"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

So please don't doubt again
Are u an old testament Jew?. Do u also stone adulteresses. ?

Lol.
Again, let me ask, does working on yourself and perfecting yourself make you a good and better Christian, or does going out with a lamp to seek out sinners make you a bona fide Christian?

I am atheist because there exists no iota of evidence to sustain a belief in the existence of god.
Scientistific knowledge, so far, shows me that the universe neither needed nor ever needs a god.
As for anger and frustration.
Yes, I am indeed angry that despite 200yrs of Christianity in Nigeria, every aspect, all of the positive aspects of African identity has been eroded by this toxic cancer of the brain called Christianity.
I am angry and frustrated that despite our very low contribution to scientific and material progress, I am still on NL arguing with educated supposedly educated Nigerians that ,
1. Human life started and evolved from Africa.
What's the issue. Do Christians claim the garden of Eden located in the middle east. ?? Or America.?

2. No black African can be a child of Abraham.
several Black Ethiopians tribes are considered Jews. These black ethiopians are welcomed into Israel
And given citizenship should they get verified.
3, The earth is 4.7 billion years old, not 6,000 yrs old.
Who says the earth is 6000years. Bible records are written in a span of 6000years doesn't mean it contains all of human history.

4. Man is the master of his destiny, and as such, does not need to rely on the imagined machinations of any god in the sky or in the earth.
God gave us freewill. You have every right to think what u want about reality.

5. If you want to go to the heavens, get off your praying butt and build yourself a spaceship.
I think you meant to say "if want to go to space build urself a spaceship". That's why its called a spaceship.

6 .Scientific persuits and knowledge is our most reliable arbiter of our reality.
Science is reliable my friend but don't forget not too long ago, scientists said their is no relationship between animal fat and high cholesterol levels, or that glysophate is safe or that cigarettes do not cause any harm or that GMO are safe substantially equivalent foods to organic foods etc. In the near future we will discover vaccines considered safe caused autism and genetic abnormalities in human babies, GMO alter DNA and hence unsafe, that natural foods/diet/herbs, God's gift to humanity is the best medicine as written in the bible etc

Besides science has been able to prove several bible claims. Religion and science need not be mutually exclusive.

malvisguy212:
Luke 10:29-37 (emphasis added by
me)

…so he asked Jesus, “And who is my
neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A GAY man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away,
leaving him half dead. 31 A CHRISTIAN priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a (BORN AGAIN BELIEVER) Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But an ATHEIST, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the GAY man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after
him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The
one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

I think we have missed our opportunity
to love our neighbors. And I believe that
atheists namely have taken the place
where Christians should have been in
the first place.
May be some of us doesent hate gay.Sure. But do you love them as much as you love yourself? You say I do not hate them but you do not help them either. The same way you may help a fellow in your church who has a habit of lying.

Being Gay is sinful,YES.Well, newsflash! so is lying, cheating, cursing, arrogance, drinking, wrathful, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, envy, murder, deceit,
malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things,
disobedient to parents, being without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.

I think some Christians have become too much holy to realize their error. When the gay community was bashed or persecuted they stood on the side rails and watched in silence. They could have helped but they didn’t because being Gay was unacceptable to them. They fulfill the part of the priest in the above parable.

And some of the Christians who really
felt like they should have helped but
didn’t are equally wrong because they
mistook grace as legalism in the dogmatic form. They are the Levis’ – the chosen people of God, the born again believers, who looked on the poor gay but then turned their heads and walked on.

And finally the atheist stood up and got
the gay person some help. Well, I
certainly applaud them on this.

Bottom line. Gays are there, if we do not help them, someone will but we would be directly opposing the spirit of love and grace if we didn’t. Regardless of whether you believe homosexuality is a sin or not, remember this, if it is a sin, it is no greater than any other sin, it is certainly not the UNPARDONABLE sin.

Matthew 26:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment…?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your (GAY) neighbor as yourself.’
40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Happy Sunday.
This is front page material mods, emusmith .

Nice write up. I disagree with the gay life style but I don't hate gays.

Its disturbing to me but so is fornication, adultery, bribery. Some christians have such an irrational hate for gays to a point their isn't much difference between them and muslims who kill gays.

Anyway gud write up, christians should welcome gays with love(stand against gay marriage at the same) and hope they pick the gospel message and renounce "gayism", and fight it, same for people who practise sexual immoralities like paedophilia, adultery, beastality etc .

By the way, drinking isn't a sin, excess drinking is.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Was Muhammads Father Named Abd-allah Before Muhammads Prophethood? by Ifeann(f): 7:11pm On May 02, 2015
EzioAuditore:
Why was Prophet Muhammad’s Father Called “Abdullah”?

It appears there is some confusion on this issue as Prophet Muhammad’s father’s name (Abdullah) meant the “slave of Allah” – questions have been asked as to why the name Allah was known BEFORE Islam was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (p).

Typically, our Christian missionary friends have been spinning this as to mean Allah was a pagan god as the pagan Arabs knew of the word “Allah” before the coming of the Prophet and Islam.

Highlighting ignorance…

This simply highlights the Christian missionary’s/critic’s ignorance as the word Allah was initially used in a monotheistic sense by Ishmael (son of Abraham) and those of his followers. However, with time, these Arabs later slipped into paganism which ultimately led to the Arabs of Mecca leaving the pure belief of Allah being the ONLY God by making Allah a high god of their pantheon of gods.

The Prophet Muhammad (p) brought the Arabs back onto the worship of Allah alone with the introduction of Islam – the same beliefs Ishmael (p) introduced to Arabia.

A brief history of Meccan-Arab religious practice

We know that the word “Allah” was in use before the time of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). If we read Ar-Raheeq ul-Makhtum we realise that the early Arabs did believe in Allah as the Only God. This is dated all the way back to the time of Prophet Ishmael (p) who resided in Makkah (Mecca) and learned Arabic as well as settling there [1]. He preached the message of pure monotheism; “Most of the Arabs had complied with the call of Ishmael and professed the religion of his father Abraham. They worshipped Allah, professed His Oneness and followed His religion...” .

This shows that Allah was known as the Only God, just like the Muslims believe Him to be. Indeed Abraham and Ishmael (pbut) are considered to be Muslims, i.e. those who had submitted to the Will of the Only God, Allah.

How paganism was introduced after Ishmael and Abraham (pbut)

The issue of paganism came into the equation as the Arabs forgot this pure monotheism which was taught by Ishmael and his followers. The idolatry was originated from the actions of a man named Amr bin Luhai, he was known as a devoted and righteous man, well respected by his peers. However, after a trip away from Mecca he saw idol-worship in Syria.

Upon his return to the Meccans he introduced idol worship to the Meccans by bringing an idol named Hubal back from Syria and this resulted in the spread of a great many idols across Mecca.

They now (wrongly) believed Allah to be the high god of many gods

Despite the Meccan pagans’ acceptance of idols they still proclaimed belief in Allah in the sense that they saw Allah as the High God but used the idols as ‘lesser deities’ whom they believed “could intercede before Allah for the fulfilment of their wishes” [4].

Quite simply they had a pantheon of ‘gods’ but believed that Allah was the High God of their pantheon.

The theory of Allah being considered as a High God is backed by Ar-Raheequl-Maktoum, Karen Armstrong and W. M. Watt.

Effectively over the years they changed their belief in Allah, from the belief that Allah was the Only God (the Abrahamic teachings) to the belief that Allah was the High God of their many deities (pagan/polytheistic teachings).

There were 360 different idols, belonging to the pagans of Mecca, around the Ka’bah when Prophet Muhammed took charge of Mecca. These idols were subsequently broken, removed and burned under the authority of Prophet Muhammed [3].

Prophet Muhammad’s father - Abdullah

Another source that attests to the fact that the pre-Islamic Arabs used the name Allah and held a ‘belief’ in Him is the genealogy of Prophet Muhammed, his father’s name was actually Abdullah (meaning servant of Allah). Interestingly enough, some of these pagan Arabs believed that Allah was the same God that the Jews and Christians worshipped.

Prophet Muhammad reintroduces Abrahamic monotheism

In 610 CE, the Prophet Muhammad began to call the pagan Arabs back to the pure monotheism which was taught by Abraham and Ishmael centuries earlier. By 632 CE the Meccan Arabs had given up their idols and returned back to pure monotheism – believing in Allah as the only god.

There are many unanswered questions about Islam and it strong association with paganism.
For example;
1. Mohammed's Pagan father was called Abdullah, which means slave of Allah long before Mohammed started Islam.
2. The crescent moon and star is seen high above almost every mosque not to mention the moon god was allegedly one of the 360 gods of the kabba.
3. The muslim obsession with black clothes.
4. The Islamic black flag.
5. The kissing of the black stone done by Muslims which was started by Mohammed for no apparent reason.
6. The circling of the kabba.
7. Compulsory pilgrimage for Muslims which was done by pagans in mecca before Islam.
8. Bowing down and facing mecca when praying. Etc
9. Cultural Superstitions and unfounded hate for wall geckos, dogs(mans best friend), cats etc
All these are some of the red flags that indicate that there maybe more to Islam than meets the eye. These pagan practises are not seen in Judaism and Christianity which Mohammed claims are people of the book and says he is one of their "prophets". Could Islam be the worlds largest monotheistic pagan religion. Let's look at more evidence.
Muhammad was born of pagan parents. His father,Abdullah and his mother,Amina were both pagans and they used to worship many idols. His entire childhood (probably up to his teen) was spent in paganism.
Today, many Muhammadans will find it extremely hard to digest this fact. However,Muhammad's pagan origin is disclosed by Hisham ibn al-Kalbi.
On page 17 of his important work,Kitab al-Asnam(The Book of Idols)he writes:
'We have been told that the Apostle of Allah once mentioned al-Uzza saying,
"I have offered a white sheep to al-'Uzza,while I was a follower of the religion of my people."
In the statement above Muhammad clearly admits his past adherence to paganism
- the then religion of the Quraysh.
When Muhammad became an adult and started to attend the annual assembly of poets at Ukazhe was deeply impressed and moved by the thoughts, eloquence, sentiment, freethinking and humanism expounded by many of those poets.
He started questioning the idol-worshipping and began to start preaching a new concept of one God,the creator-similar to the concepts of the Jews and the Christians of that time.
Nonetheless, he was confused as to which god ought to be his God. Allah,at that time, was the supreme god of the pagan Quraysh. From Muhammad's perspective, their only fault was that besides Allah, they used to worship as the intercessors with Allah the supreme god, other smaller gods/goddesses like: Hubal, Al-lat, Al-Uzza, Manat…etc.
So, at the start of his new concept of an almighty creator,Allah was out of his mind. Besides, at that time the magicians, the soothsayers, the sorcerers, and even the Satan worshippers used to vow byAllah. Thus, Muhammad,at the very beginning, found it utterly despicable to make Allah his God (ilah).
During those pagan days the people of Yemen used to worship another deity whose name was Ar-Rahman. Muhammad, for a while, adopted the name Ar-Rahman for God in place ofAllah. Coincidentally,Ar-Rahman was also the Jewish word Rahmana which was a name for God in the Talmudic period.
(Noldeke: The Koran, The Origins of the Koran, p.53).
Muhammad cleverly thought that by using the word Ar-Rahman he ought to be able to attract to his new ‘religion’, theJewsas well as some pagans.
*** Please note that no where in the Quran does Allah say that he has 99 additional names including Ar-Rahman.
In fact these 'names' are Allah's ATTRIBUTES/ SIFAT and NOT NAMES ***
So, when he declared himself to be the messenger ofAr-Rahman,theMeccans,too, were at a loss and confused. The Meccans did not know of any Ar-Rahman,other than the Ar-Rahman of al-Yamamah (some writers say Ar-Rahman,was atYemen).
When we read, with an unbiased mind, the first50 Suras(in chronological order)of theQuran,we note Muhammad’s confusion regrading Lord, Allah and Ar-Rahman. He was quite unsure of whom he should consider as hisGod (Ilah).
Here is a summary of the first50 Suras regarding Muhammad’s idea of hisGod:
Only Lord—68, 92, 89, 94, 100, 108, 105, 114, 97, 106, 75 (11 Suras)
Ar-Rahman, Lord—55, 36 (2 Suras)
Ar-Rahman, Allah, Lord—20
Allah, Lord—96, 73, 74, 81, 87, 53, 85, 50, 38, 7, 72, 25, 35, 56, 26, 27, 28, 17 (18 Suras)
This demonstrates Muhammad’s initial vacillation, confusion and ignorance of the affairs of hisGod (Ilah).
The Quran also confirms that when he started to preach his brand of faithMuhammadwas lost, confused and did not know much of religion. Here is what the Quranwrites:
93.7 And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.
12.3We do relate unto thee the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to thee this (portion of the)Qur'an:before this, thou too was among those who knew it not
42.52And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee:thou knewest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith;but We have made the(Qur'an)a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way ,-
*** Previously,Muhammad,as aPAGAN,was heedless of earlier revelations ***
Initially,Muhammad even eulogized the important gods (or idols) of the pagans by agreeing with the Quraysh- at some point that these gods were the intercessors ofAllah(The Satanic Verses). On the same page Hisham ibn al-Kalbi writes:
TheQuraysh were wont to circumambulate theKa'baand chant:
53.19ByAllat and al-'Uzza,
53.20AndManah,the third idol besides.
53.21 Verily they are the most exalted females/cranes[Gharaniq]
53.22 Whose intercession is to be sought.
These were also called"the Daughters of Allah: al Lat, al Uzza & al Manat"and were supposed to intercede beforeAllah.
Muhammad,in a moment of desperation and weakness, to try and bring his Quraysh tribe to his way of thinking, compromised his monotheism by allowing himself to state that he received theABOVE'revelation'fromAllah.
The above represent theSATANIC VERSEScontroversy, where by Satan allegedly was able to easily mislead Muhammad into allowing his followers to have partners withAllah,as they had under paganism; that is to allow the three daughters ofAllah to share his divine throne by being intercessors between humanity andAllah.
When Muhammad realised that he had compromised his Monotheism,he later very conveniently, ABROGATED verses 21 & 22 and replaced them with the following:
53.19Have ye seenLat. and 'Uzza,
53.20And another, the third (goddess),Manat?
53.21What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female?
53.22Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair
53.23These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!
*** To cover up the fact that he had compromised his monotheism,Muhammad found that the bestSCAPE GOAT is to very conveniently blame the unsuspecting :SATAN.
As u do more research on Islam you see more evidence for yourself.
