Did President-elect Donald Trump really call Africans "lazy fools"? The BBC's Dickens Olewe looks at six comments he allegedly made about Africa which are doing the rounds on the internet.

According to fact-checking website Snopes this claim was first posted on 25 October 2015 on Politica, a fake news website. It was later picked up by blogs and other fake and satirical news websites on the continent.
According to online magazine Slate, a 1991 book about Mr Trump by former employee John O'Donnel relates an incident where the billionaire reportedly blamed the poor performance of a black worker on laziness saying that it was a "trait in blacks".
Fake news sites have tended to bolster their stories with comments Mr Trump did actually make. So some stories are quite plausible.
In the case of this article the intention seems to be satire. The writers used made-up Trump quotes to criticise African governments. For instance, this false quote attributed to Mr Trump is apparently trying to justify his comments:
"These are people who import everything, including matchsticks. In my opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonised again for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self governance".

A common thread with Mr Trump's trumped up quotes is that they are inspired by a generic disparaging comment he has made about one group of people, which are then reversioned by fake news sites to appeal to their local audiences.

In this case, the inspiration for the false story came from Mr Trump's comments about Mexicans and Muslims, which were easily reversioned to capture the attention of Nigerians.
Several websites ran stories based on these made-up quotes:
"American Billionaire and Republican Presidential Front-runner, Donald Trump, has shot a subtle warning to the Nigerian Community in the United States, after he said all Nigerians would be made to leave the country 'when he becomes President'. He made the 'threat' during a rally at Wichita, Kansas."
Both the quote and the event are fictitious.
Fact-checking site Snopes says: "Trump did not have a rally in Wichita, Kansas, as alleged by the above-quote, at any point in January 2016."
Pay legal fee for Cecil killer
The killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe last year sparked global outrage as people targeted their anger towards American dentist Walter Palmer who killed the famed lion in a hunt.
A fake story that Mr Trump had pledged to pay Mr Palmer's legal fees was shared at the time.
'Go back to Africa if you're not satisfied with America'
Mr Trump was accused of using innuendoes and name calling during his campaign. He abused, derided and disparaged many people.

These made-up comment were attributed to the president-elect to show that he does not approve of #BlackLivesMatter - a campaign by African-Americans to highlight deadly police shootings.
"If Black Lives Don't Matter Here Go Back to Africa.
"If I don't like the food the waitress brings me, I send it back to the kitchen. And I go eat somewhere else," the false quote by Mr Trump says.
Some of these comments fail in their imagination but have fooled many because they are written in a highly shareable way and they exploit a wide array of Mr Trump's comments which have upset many groups of people.
'Kenyans are conmen'
This quote was attributed to Mr Trump following Kenyan athletes' historic performance at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, 2015.
Kenya topped the table for the first time, winning seven gold medals.

At the time, Mr Trump was still promoting a false narrative that US President Barack Obama, whose father was Kenyan, was not born in the United States.
The article seems to take advantage of the news about Kenyan athletes' win by concocting a quote from Mr Trump about the event.
The article falsely says that Mr Trump referred to Kenyans and Mr Obama as "conmen who dope and cheat on their way to the top".
'I will lock up Mugabe and Museveni'
This false story currently being peddled by various sites has been revived from a similar piece shared in January, with a threat that Mr Trump would "lock up" the presidents of Uganda and Zimbabwe.
"I want to reiterate here before America's greatest heroes that I will not condone any dictatorial tendencies exhibited by dictators around the world, especially the two old men from Zimbabwe and Uganda," the article says.
"Their days are numbered and I am going to lock them up in prison," it adds.
This is another classic example of people concocting words and phrases to criticise African politicians and put them in the mouth of Mr Trump.
Now that he is set to be the next US president, there are likely to be lots more of these false Trumpisms so don't believe everything you read.

here are passages from the quran and hadiths which Muslims quote to other Muslims to prove that questioning islam is wrong

And are you also implying that Christians are allowed to ask questions?
Please don't be hypocritical here, it cuts across all religions. There are certain things you do not question in religion because they are beyond human comprehension.

I'm saying this because I have read comments of some guys here who were former Christians but are Atheists today. they claim to have asked some questions and couldn't get answers or the answers they got wasn't satisfactory (that is not enough reason to become an atheist anyway it's just their own choice. And I will say it's not a wise choice)

This is why Christians should be knowledgeable of what they believe and must be able to defend their beliefs and educate other Christians whose faith is wavering. Muslims cant do that, this is why they use the phrase " allah knows best" when they cant answer a question or defend mohammed..

I can remember the case of a brother (a PhD holder according to the narration he gave) saying his pastor shut him up when he was young whenever he asks questions and told him to rebuke the devil for its the devil making him to ask such questions. That was how his journey to atheism began.

Don't be hypocritical or judgmental when addressing any person practicing another religion because it's not their making. Rather learn to be respectful and approach with love that is the only way you can win them and make them see reasons with you.

Young woman, the issue is more complicated than you think, you are a Christian today simply because you were born into a Christian family. You didn't choose it. With this your enthusiasm you would have been a radical Muslim if you were born by Muslim parents.

The fact that we cannot choose our parents and therefore cannot choose which religion will be born into is a call to reason.

A guy made an intriguing comment some time ago, he said how easy do you think it will be for the daughter or son of Sultan of sokoto to convert to Christianity or that of Adeboye to Islam.
I believe God is perfectly aware of those constraints.

I have said this before. . We strongly associate with the religion we are born into.. i would probably defend islam if i was born a muslim.. but God gave us the gift of critical reasoning.. we can all think for ourselves.. Christians are encouraged to think for themselves by virtue of freewill as taught in the bible.. we are free to make our own choices. Unlike Islam which forbids asking questions about Islam. .

This is my first post on Nairaland and it might also be the last.
You don't know me and we'll, as much as I'd love to say I don't know you too, I think I actually do.
I know you or at least the person you try to portray yourself as..
I have virtually read all of your Nairaland posts just to try to get a picture of the kind of person you might be and right now, i think I have come to understand what kind that is.
One thing(which is really the only thing I know you for) is your enthusiasm towards proving(more like attacking) Islam as terrible as anything could possibly be.
While your doggedness in doing so is superb, I have a couple of things I'd love you to try to consider.

1. You're a Christian. I'm sure you love your religion.
I'm a Muslim. I love my religion. I'd do anything to be a better person in my religion.
In the light of that, don't you think it'd actually be better if you in spite of your grave hate of Muslims and Islam in general, leave us alone and try to work on your personal relationship with God
I mean, fine, Islam is this, Islam is that, the Quran is this, Muhammad is that, FINE. We agree.
Can you now take time out to being a better Christian than actually a better attacker.

2. In all fairness, this religious feuds are always going to exist. A Muslim won't want to admit Islam, the Quran or the Prophets are wrong and a Christian won't want to believe his or her religion is wrong either.
As a result of this, there'd always be a conflict. ALWAYS.

MUHAMMED, HIS MANY SAD WIVES AND SHENANIGANS WITH HIS SLAVES

Some Muslims deny that Muhammad was married to more than four women at a time, merely on the basis that the Qur'an only gives permission for marrying four. Unfortunately, facts and Muslims historians disagree. Only one of Muhammad's last eleven wives died before him (Zaynab bint Khuzayma). The rest outlived him by many years. Muhammad forbade his ten widows from remarrying, even making sure that this "divine" order was forever preserved in the eternal word of Allah - Qur'an (33:53). To add insult to injury, they were all summarily disinherited from Muhammad's estate by his successor (courtesy of another divine order "given" to Abu Bakr from Allah).

So let’s begin
Qur'an (33:51) - "You may put off whom you please of them, and you may take to you whom you please, and whom you desire of those whom you had separated provisionally; no blame attaches to you; this is most proper, so that their eyes may be cool and they may not grieve, and that they should be pleased"

Muhammad's wives were grumbling about his preference for sleeping with a slave girl (Mary the Copt) instead of them, his wives. Accordingly, allah was quick to reveal to Muhammad that he may sleep with whichever wife (or slave) he wishes without having to hear the others complain...

Allah reaffirms Mohammed he is not to be bothered by any promises to his wives.

Qur'an (66:1-5) -"O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives?... Allah has already ordained for you, the dissolution of your oaths "

Another remarkably personal passage of sexual convenience in a book billed as Allah's perfect and eternal message to mankind.

Qur'an (4:24) - "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." Allaheven permitted Muhammad and his men to have sex withmarried slaves, suchas those captured inbattle.

Muhammad was caught sleeping with a slave woman on the night that he was supposed to be with one of his wives. Initially promising to be faithful, "Allah" tells his prophet to break that promise and enjoy sex with his slaves. His wives objected then allah revealed another message to mohammed for his wivies..

"it may be if he divorced you (all) that his Lord will give him instead of you, wives better than you."

MOHAMMED AND BABY AISHA:

Muslim (8:3309) - Muhammad consummated his marriage to Aisha whenshe was only nine. (See also Bukhari 58:234 and many other places). Nowhere in any other the reliable Hadith or Sira is there any other age given. The concenus by Islamic scolars is that aisha was a pubescent child when mohammed had his way with her.

Bukhari (62:18) -Aisha's father, Abu Bakr, wasn't onboard at first, but Muhammad explained how the rules of their religion made it possible. This is similar to the way that present-day cult leaders and fake prophets/pastors manipulate their followers into similar concessions. Lets see what happened next;

Muslim (8:3311) - The girl took her dolls with her to Muhammad's house (something to play with when the "prophet" was not having sex with her).

Bukhari (6:298) -Muhammad would take a bath with the little girl and handle her.

Thanks to Muhammad's extremely poor judgment (at best) and explicit approval of paedophilia, sex with children became deeply in grained in the Islamic tradition. For many centuries, Muslim armies would purge Christian and Hindu peasant villages of their men folk and send the women and children to harems and the thriving child sex slave markets deep in the Islamic world.

When it comes to child marriage, contemporary clerics warn fellow Muslims against succumbing to the disapproval of the Christian West: "It behoves those who call for setting a minimum age for marriage to fear Allah and not contradict his Sharia, or try to legislate things Allah did not permit. For laws are Allah’s province; and legislation is his excusive right, to be shared by none other. And among these are the rules governing marriage.”

The Ayatollah Khomeini, who married a 12-year-old girl, even gave his consent to using infants for sexua.l pleasure (although warning against full penetration until the baby is a few years older). In April, 2010, a 13-year-old Yemeni girl died from injuries suffered to her womb during "intercourse".

Some clerics show relative mercy on underage girls by advocating a process known as "thighing" (also known as child molestation in the West). According to a recent fatwa (number 23672),an imam answers this question: "My parents married me to a young girl who hasn't yet reached puberty. How can I enjoy her sexually?" by telling the man' that he may "hug her, kiss her, and ejaculat.e between her legs."
A prominent member of Saudi Arabia's highest religious council said in 2012 that girls can be married "even if they are in the cradle," then went on to explain that intercourse may occur whenever they are capable of being placed beneath and bearing the weight of the man."
Muhammad's penchant for girls so much younger than him was such that at least two of his father-in-laws (Abu Bakr and Omar, the first two Caliphs) were actually younger than him as well. This disappointing pattern is very much at odds with the sort of sexual discipline that one might expect of a true "prophet of God."

THIS PASSAGE GIVES US AN INSIGHT TO THE DEPRAVITY OF MOHAMMED’S MIND

Muslim (8:3460) - "Why didn't you marry a young girl so that you could sport with her and she sport with you, or you could amuse with her and she could amuse with you?" Muhammad posed this question to one of his followers who had married an "older woman" instead of a child.

Bukhari (4:232) -Muhammad's wives would wash Fluid stains outof his clothes, which were still wet from the spot-cleaning even when he went to the mosque for prayers.
Between Reproduction and prayer, it's a wonder he found the time to slay pagans.

Bukhari (6:300) -Muhammad's wives had to be available for the prophet's handling even when they were having their menstrual period.

Bukhari (93:639) - The Prophet of Islam would recite the 'Holy Qur'an' with his head in Aisha's lap, when she was menstruating.

Bukhari (62:6) - "The Prophet used to go round (have sexual relations with) all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives." Muhammad also said that it was impossible to treat all wives
equally - and it isn't hard to guess why.

Bukhari (5:268) -"The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, 'Had the Prophet the strength for it?' Anas replied, 'We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty men.' "

Bukhari (60:311) - "I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires." These words were spoken by Aisha within the context of her husband having been given 'Allah's permission' to fulfill his sexual desires with a large number of women in whatever order he chooses. (It has been suggested that Aisha may have been speaking somewhat wryly).

Muslim (8:3424) - One of several narrations in which a leering Muhammad orders a clearly startled woman to suckle a grown man with her breast so that he will become "unlawful" to her-meaning that they can live under the same roof together.

MUHAMMAD SLEEPS WITH HIS ADOPTED SON’S WIFE AND ABOLISHES ADOPTION

Muhammad's pursuit of Zaynab, the wife of his adopted son is almost as tough for Muslims to explain. This is because it not only raises a similar question of moral character, but also casts suspicion on whether his so-called prophecies were really divine revelation or dictates of personal convenience.

According to one biographer, even Aisha appears to be somewhat doubtful of Muhammad's claim that Allah commanded him to marry Zaynab, wryly remarking,
"Truly Allah seems to be very quick in fulfilling your prayers."

So controversial was Muhammad's desire to marry his adopted son's wife that he had to justify it with a stern pronouncement from Allah on the very institution of adoption, which has had tragic consequences to this day.
Verses 33:4-5 are widely interpreted to imply that Islam is against adoption, meaning that an untold number of children in the Islamic world have been needlessly orphaned -all because Muhammad's lustful desires for a married woman went beyond even what the other six wives that he possessed at the time and a multitude of slaves could satisfy.

In summary, Islam's holiest texts portray Muhammad not as a perfect man, but as a sexual hedonist. Not only did he become fat from indulging in food, but his pursuit of sex was no less gluttonous. On top of it all, he used personal "revelations" from Allah to justify his debauchery to the gullible masses which, to this day continue.

Fundamentalist Northern Muslims are back in the news. Why are the massacres happening again? Well the truth is that the killings never really stopped.

The Nigerian news networks have been plagued with stories of the recent killings of non-Muslims (especially Christians, even more especially northern Christians) by Muslims of northern extraction. Many Nigerians are wondering why this is happening as the government gains more victory over Boko Haram. The truth is that the Boko Haram issue has been a distraction for far too long and as the dust settles the ugly reality of religious violence In Nigeria has yet again made its presence as prominent as it has always been.

Some claim, that the emergence of a Fulani president explains the renewed vigor Fulani herdsmen have massacred Nigerians as far south as Enugu state, the killing of hundreds of dissident Shias and the murder of protesting IPOB members. More gruesome examples include the senseless killing of an innocent woman, Mrs Bridget Agbahime, who asked some young Muslims men to, “please do not wash” in front of her store. We have the brutal murder of an evangelist, Eunice Elisha for the “crime of preaching the gospel” in the very capital of Nigeria.
This week 8 people were murdered in zamfara for alleged blasphemy of a “prophet” who saw nothing wrong with sleeping with his son’s wife, sleeping with a nine year old girl, sleeping with slaves and war captives right after killing their families, trading slaves and beating women, amongst many other crimes documented by Muslims for Muslims in the Quran and hadiths. It’s funny how Muslims try to tell us Islam is a religion of peace when the very example they follow was not peaceful.

We seem to forget that every single one of these murdered people were humans with families who loved them, they had dreams and aspirations. That seminarian and others murdered in Enugu had a family who loved them. Young men and women, who, thanks to Islam, will never be fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunties and uncles because some Islamist believed that their intolerant deity mandates them to do its killings for it.


If Buhari has any intentions of stopping the killings, he should tackle the perpetrators with as much vigor as he promised to deal with the Niger Delta Avengers (mind you, they have not killed any civilians) or with a similar styled persecution of the foul mouthed secessionist Nnamdi Kalu (who has murdered no one but has remained in prison) or even in a similar unlawful detention as with the alleged looter extraordinaire Dasuki. Why are the perpetrators of these killings not given the same treatment?

Buhari has called for the violence to stop and probably is sincere when he condemns the killings and the pain Christians (and Non-muslims) have suffered in the hands of more devout Muslims as we have witnessed in the past few months. The killings cannot stop when government officials say one thing and religious leaders/imams in a mosque up north says another.
The killings cannot stop when the culprits are protected by their families, not arrested and sentenced in a Nigerian court of law.
It cannot stop when the trials of these murderers are not open to the public and carried out in a timely manner.
It cannot stop when 12 states in Nigeria practice a court system that is antithetical to our mainstream 21st century Nigerian secular court system.
It cannot stop when a Muslim Fulani president appoints mainly Northern Muslims in very sensitive and important positions in secular democracy.

The Christian association of Nigeria has raised points on Nigeria’s islamization. It’s happening before our very eyes.
That brings me to the topic of the growing threat of the islamization of Nigeria.

If the change is approved, sections 262 and 277 would both read this way:
The Sharia Court of Appeal shall . . . exercise such appellate and supervisory jurisdiction in civil and criminal proceedings involving questions of Islamic personal law.
This bill is not created to amend the constitution to protect Christians. It’s a bill aimed at giving Sharia states more power that can be used to protect or punish Muslims who commit crimes in Nigeria. It can punish Muslims for crimes but can also protect them depending on how the Islamic judge handling the case interprets his Quran. At the present moment, Sharia courts can only handle personal matters (not criminal proceedings) but the Muslim lawmaker Abdullahi Salame seeks to change that. By the way Abdullahi means slave of Allah, I don’t want Allah’s slave to amend my constitution.

This is very important because to the average Muslim, the Quran, hadiths and Sharia laws supersedes Buhari. These killings have been going on for 1400 years and jihad in Nigeria has been in full force since the 1800s. The commands in the Quran are clear. It calls for offensive warfare against unbelievers:

Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But God knoweth, and ye know not. (Quran 2:216)

• Bauchi State- few weeks ago a pastor is killed in Jaruma village ioro Local Government Area amongst others.
• Borno State- Boko Haram stronghold for several years which saw the Massacre of Christians and moderate Muslims.
• Niger State (May 4, 2000) recent killings/beheading because of alleged blasphemy.



[b]The only way these killings can stop is if every Muslim abandons Islam but that can’t happen. However what the government can do now to slow the progression of these killings as follows;
1. Get rid of the Sharia practice in Nigeria, it is insane, creates divisions and is an unfair justice system.
2. The environment which promoted hatred towards Non-Muslims must be discouraged.
3. Monitor mosques for hate speech and protect whistleblowers
4. Introduce and enforce family planning in the North, polygamy is unsustainable for any civilized society. The Muslim birth rate is too high and wreaking our economy.
5. Stop funding pilgrimages for all religions. It’s a waste of resources that can be used to better protect Nigerians.
6. Discourage mass marriages as currently performed by the Sharia states.
7. Tackle the growing poverty in the Muslim dominated areas.
8. Put idle Muslim hands to good work, Nigerian need more farmers, engineers and less Islamic scholars, herdsmen and beggars.
9. Disarm Fulani herdsmen [/b]


The Sharia implementation gives hardliner Muslims more impetus to act and carry out these killings

That quranic statement was because Muhammad could not perform miracles.
