You certainly should book ONE WAY, except if you have plans of returning, probably what we call "Soft-Landing". Otherwise, stick with one way. The visa you have isn't tourist...lol

Though Return is usually cheaper, but if you do not have reason to return any time soon, you may just do away with it and stick to One Way.

Also according to records, you may consider::: OTHER TIPS::::regarding traveling

<Ethiopian Air, Egypt Air, if money isn't much of issue, Lufthansa>
<you may also try booking via the app - cheaper>
<use skyscanner.net for favourable searches>
<play with dates for a month's time range>
<Sunday and Tuesday seem to be cheapest>
<Try make your trip before summer - J/July--A/Sept>

And by the way, Congratulations!

May Canada favour you and Family.

ifeoma.77 please could you look into this?thanks

He has a very good profile. At 28 and with a Masters, he can use only the one year NYSC experience.
The school getting shut down is not a problem, he should write his JD by himself and the add LOE to explain that the school was shut down. Then he can provide bank statements to back up his pay for that period and if possible NYSC deployment letter to the school (& discharge certificate).
Alternatively, he can track down the former principal/headmaster wherever he/she is to write the reference for him

The correspondence must refer to an application submitted pre-EE, before May 4, 2013 or the VO was confused.

Section 75(2) of the IRPR does not specify the work hours required:

"(2) A foreign national is a skilled worker if

(a) within the 10 years before the date on which their application for a permanent resident visa is made, they have accumulated, over a continuous period, at least one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work, in the occupation identified by the foreign national in their application as their primary occupation, other than a restricted occupation, that is listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;"
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/page-17.html

That is done is Section 73(1):
"full-time work means at least 30 hours of work over a period of one week. (travail à temps plein)"
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-73.html

The law was changed on May 4, 2013:
"For FSW applications received on or after May 4, 2013

Pursuant to R73(1), “full-time work” means at least 30 hours of work over a period of one week, and pursuant to R73(2), “work” means an activity for which wages are paid or commission is earned.

For FSW applications received before May 4, 2013

Pursuant to R80.7, “full-time work” means at least 37.5 hours of work over a period of one week.

The full-time work experience requirement for applicants in the Federal Skilled Worker Class may be met by the equivalent in part-time paid work experience (e.g., more than one part-time job held simultaneously or one or more part-time jobs held over the equivalent of at least one year of full-time work). However, the part-time work experience must have been accumulated over a continuous period pursuant to R75(2)(a)."

You're preaching to the choir Joo, I'm completely in support of team 30hours/week is full time. But these VOs sometimes make decisions based on parameters we're not even aware of.
My point in sharing is for people to err on the side of caution and ensure their reference letters account for more than enough hours.
And no, that correspondence was sent in 2019 not pre-EE

This is not good news...

I've been waiting patiently for my ICES evaluation and just when I feel like I'm getting close to the mark, this news comes to destabilize my evening.

The degree I'm trying to assess is from Uniport. I am about 8 weeks gone but I haven't received any email from ICES.

Please house, what do you suggest I do?
-Send ICES an email to find out if they'll assess the degree?
-Register with WES and spend more money?
-Wait to see if they'll send a similar mail to me after 14 weeks?
I think you should pm the OP and find out if your degrees share the same peculiarities. If yes, you're better off starting with WES asap

Good day all.... Good work everyone is doing exchanging information and sharing opinions about this process. God bless y'all...
In one way or another, everyone has been right about the NPC/birth certificate issue. I would just like to add my opinion with respect to the second point in the Manitoba letter attached....
In my understanding, what is implied is that an individual above 18 SHOULD NOT apply for or collect a birth certificate AND CANNOT tender a birth certificate for any reason. Once the individual is above 18 and possibly looses the old birth certificate or applying for the first time, what he should be applying for is an attestation of birth. In other words, for a birth certificate to be valid, the date of issuance to the date of actual birth recorded should be less than 18yrs.

cc @ife.oma77, @scandin.avian02, @baby.banky.

There have been many people in the PPR hall of fame for this thread and past threads that have used the birth certificates. Others too have used the attestation of birth and gotten PPR.
I used the Old birth certificates for my sister and I, still waiting for PPR 8months on.
As @joo.2018 rightly said, if in doubt, err on the side of caution and get the attestation of birth. Do whatever makes you sleep well.

It shall end in praises to the most high.
Beautifully written!
May your PPR come speedily ASAP

please help, I woke to a sad message from ICES saying they cant verify Uniport degrees now. After almost 4 months of waiting. Please advice on the next step to take. Thank you.

See the message below

We have completed more research regarding the credential you have submitted for evaluation. Unfortunately ICES is unable to provide assessments for degrees completed at Port Harcourt University because ICES has insufficient and inconclusive information regarding the validity of the degrees that were issued by this institution.  At a later date, should ICES receive more conclusive information regarding the validity of the degrees from Port Harcourt University, then ICES will resume evaluating degrees from the said institution. Until then, ICES will not be able to provide any assessments for degrees awarded by Port Harcourt University.

In accordance with our cancellation policy outlined in the ICES Credential Evaluation Application Package, we will issue refunds for $200.

Sincerely,

So sorry about that. Shake it off and evaluate with another body. Eyes on the prize, it will end in praises

Hi guys,

Help or advice needed for my brother. Has any one ever had to add a spouse to an open application because they got married during processing? Did you have to then deposit more money to the proof of funds?

My brother's one was a peculiar case, I will try to keep it short, cos this was a big mess on Accra's part

So he got married on Feb 2, 2019
Updated CIC on Mon Feb 4, 2019 (marriage cert, new generic forms etc submitted, (stated that wife is NOT accompanying) received a confirmation that it is received and forwarded to processing office.
Got his request for visa email on Feb 7, 2019
Visa stamped and approved on Feb 27th & COPR
Booked his flight, he was to fly on May 3rd but apparently CIC discovered that the visa they issued was based on him being single
They cancelled his visa without notifying him and he was unable to fly from naija. He checked his CIC account, approval had changed to "submitted". So his application has been re-opened. He didn't get an email for this update and he was not supposed to be checking (he already has his visa na)
Ok drama happened. I live in Canada so I called some people (right now accra has to answer to the minister why they cancelled a visa without notifying the holder) and why they took a whole 2 - 3 months before they remembered that someone sent them updated family information.

After all the people we asked to talk to them, they sent him an email this morning of all that his required for the spouse. In summary, she needs to do police cert, medicals, biometrics, amongst so many other things apparently all that his required if she wants to accompany him, if she doesn't, she still has to do every single thing, before they complete his file. Now this is what they should have sent when he advised them of his marital status, but they didn't. He has decided that the wife will accompany him now as the only difference if she doesn't is the PR, RPRF fees.

In this email now, they mentioned everything that will change or is required for this updated application EXCEPT proof of funds, he already withdrew 50% of his funds in cash and was suppose to come with it to settle down. He can deposit that back but does he need to increase the funds for 2 people?
Please advise if you 've had to do this before.
I gasped when I read that he added spouse Post-AOR and still declared her as unaccompanying.
Honestly, AVO is not to blame here, your brother goofed big time. He seems to be completely unaware of the process. No way would that visa have remained valid without his application getting updated with his wife's UCI as well as her doing the medicals, PCC and whatnot.
He should just take this as it is and wait for the application to be finalized. Oh and he better get that POF updated for two. At this point, AVO would gleefully refuse his application once they find any flimsy excuse.

The hospital gives you a notification of birth which you take to NPC to obtain the birth certificate.

topeolu1:
I think we should not mix up this birth certificate thing. The only body allowed to issue a birth certificate in Nigeria is National Population Commission - NPC. The NPC has implants in most recognized hospitals such that as you give birth, they issue you the NPC birth certificate there and then. This is what some people see as birth certificate collected from hospital. I read @Ifeo.ma77 comment on this. We can clarify further.

What I know is that the hospital gives a notification of birth (some overreach their powers by calling it birth certificate, which is not). If ircc accepts, fine. However, I have shared the message which ircc works with and based on the clarifications provided by NPC to them in 2011. It was clearly stated that the only acceptable document from Nigeria for birth proof and familial relationship is NPC birth attestation, for those above 18 at that time.

It means it's safer for those born before 1992/1993 to use attestation of birth, while those born thereafter can use the NPC issued birth certificate. My wife and I used the attestation while our girls used the NPC birth certificate. The hospital is not a population record agency of govt. I don't know, but it might have been possible some have used it successful in the past.

Just my thoughts.

I'm not doubting that this is the current process for obtaining birth certificate but things were different a while back.
Let me use myself as an example. I have just one birth certificate and that's the one I've used my whole life. It wasn't issued by NPC. It was issued by the State ministry of health, stamped by the hospital where I was born and signed by the physician who attended my birth.
My sibling who was born close to the millennium mark has something similar but from a different state, I don't know of that one was issued by the NPC plant you talked about but it was collected at the hospital. My parents didn't take any notification to birth to NPC to go and collect another birth certificate. Oh and it doesn't have NPC written on it anywhere.
And no, it's not 'notification of birth', the document clearly states 'birth certificate'.
I have used my BC for all kinds of things in all kinds of countries, I've never had an issue with it. Never been told that I'd need to go back to NPC for anything.

That being said, I have absolutely no problem with anyone going back to NPC for attestation of birth or NPC birth certificate as the case may be. But for me? If in the future, my sibling needs to claim points, I am using my one and only birth certificate and as far as I'm concerned, it is a more authentic proof of my birth than anyone issued by NPC.
