Hello,
Have anyone in the uk who is still on skilled work visa used Skipton and got approval? Or the applicant have to have ILR ?
Hope to hear from you quote author=AdeAde1805 post=135369005]Keys Collected! I’ve been a quiet follower of this thread for a while now, and the amount of support and information I’ve gained from this community has been incredible. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has shared their knowledge and offered guidance along the way.
I’m excited to share that our first home-buying journey has officially come to an end—exactly 2 years and 7 months after arriving in the UK. We picked up the keys on the 28th March 2025! It’s a 3-bedroom semi-detached home with 3 toilets, built in 2019. I knew it was the one the moment I saw it, after what felt like endless viewings. • Offer Accepted: October 2024 • Mortgage Approved: December 2024 (thanks to Skipton, approved in just 2 days) • Completion Date: 28th March 2025
Special thanks to Lexusgs430 for his endless patience and invaluable advice—he never got tired of answering all my questions![/quote] |

luqken: Hello,
My broadband contract (with Virgin media) is ending in few days. Can someone recommend a broadband with good deals. I don't understand what Virgin media is saying regarding renewal of contract because how can I move from £22 to £57. Hello, I use Brsk, it’s new network and very good speed. I was using EE before but network was not strong in the area. Depends on your location in the uk. You can use my referral code, we both £50 amazon voucher when you sign up after one month It’s £24 per month but they are doing £19 fixed for 2 years. You can use my code please 😄🙏🏻 https://brsk.uk/GA5P |

ebuka1997: It’s pure data, Greater Manchester is the second biggest economy in the UK. So statistically there would be more jobs, it’s that simple.
Thar someone you knew got or didn’t get jobs doesn’t invalidate that as that could be skewed by personal experiences. You said “ after London there’s no better place than Manchester to get jobs” Manchester may be the second largest but you made it look like those are the better places to get jobs, that’s why i mentioned Liverpool as another place to get students jobs. They are jobs in every city. It’s experience that’s generates data, and from experience most students that I interacted with in my line of work didn’t find it hard to get student jobs with 20 hours in Liverpool. Yes, I shared an experience, my sister school is York St. John London campus 80 percent of students in her class don’t get 20 hours weekly in London, most students had to move out to places like Leicester etc to get jobs . Infact, after London, Birmingham is the second largest city in the U.K. |

ebuka1997: After London, I’ll say there’s no better place than Manchester. It may be tough for a month or two but you’ll get something maybe not up to 20 hours though because the demand is now less than the supply as many international students have flooded.
Jobs you should be targeting as a start are steward, cleaner, retail and later on care. Teaching assistant is a soft job that can give 20 hours if you have teaching experience. One thing also, get police report when coming from Nigeria, some jobs might need it. Have you been in other cities to come to this conclusion? I disagree with this. My sister came to London as student and didn’t get student jobs for over 4 months, I had to relocate her to Liverpool where she got job the following week with a charity. Liverpool region also called Merseyside is one of the largest region in England. Liverpool is one of the easier city to get student jobs. I also know other cities aside “London and Manchester “ that’s easier to get jobs. When we came as students some years ago, London was good and fast to get jobs but in the last 2 years it’s saturated and to get 20 hours is hard especially if you don’t drive, even the teaching assistant roles too it’s hard to get 20 hours this period. London is better for full time roles, but rent and transport will finish your money. I stay in 3 bedroom with 2 toilets (family of 5) around Liverpool region and pay £650 per month, it’s a bit higher when you move into Liverpool but it’s still better and transport card per month is £72 that’s if you want to be going out almost every day of the week. And if your goal is to stay longer in U.K. Liverpool is also one of the cities to get quickly on the property ladder as houses are cheap here. |

thenny312: Hi guys,
So I’ve been In the UK since last year February with my dependant on a student visa.
The care company I work for is offering me sponsorship soon but my dependant won’t be able to switch with me.
Is there any other visa she can apply for to elongate her stay in the UK ?
If you don’t have kids and the dependent is just you spouse, you could look for charity visa or apply let you dependent apply as a student on their own visa and look for courses in demand that your spouse can go for, it’s expensive route but it’s another way if you want both of you to be here, or else go with the initial idea of applying for PSW

Students looking for jobs, have you tried moving far North of England? Like Lancashire, Preston etc, it’s cheaper to rent. May be far from your school and all the bubbling off London vibe, but you can move to school with national express and back. May be stressful but it’s always like that in the first year when you relocate. Just move to areas where you can get jobs and maintain your 20 hours. Then you can move back to London area if you have cleared your fees.
All the best. |

She only needs her POF for 9 months. You don’t need to attach yours cos you have been in U.K. for over 9 months Jimafe31: I've been in the UK as student for 12 months, course is ending May 2024 and visa expiring Sept 30 2024.
My wife is applying to join me. I used the IHS calculator and got £470 Yes, your wife would need to show her POF for 9 months, since you are in U.K. for over 12 months there’s no need to add yours , just hers is ok. Question is do we need to provide evidence for maintenence, and if yes how much? Jimafe31: I've been in the UK as student for 12 months, course is ending May 2024 and visa expiring Sept 30 2024.

Thanks for your quick response boss, I really appreciate.
Please, make this clear to me...What is the difference between "Skilled Worker visa", and "Health and Care Worker visa"?
I dey always reason say na only Health and Care Worker visa applicant fit no pay for the Healthcare Surcharge fee. Please, check the attached image and share more lights on it.
I await your response boss. Thanks🫡 Skilled work visa is when you are applying for other roles like Data Analyst, IT, etc health is still skilled worker visa, in your application it gets to a stage where you are asked what type of visa, it’s the same process, if you click on health and care, it won’t prompt you to apply for IHS but is it’s other skills that’s not under health, the portal will take you to where to will pay for your IHS. |

EPEAKS: Good Afternoon All,
I need your advice. Ok so I got a job to resume today on a salary of over 50k. I even signed a contract. Everything went well until I was asked to provide NIN. I came in to UK just last month and I applied for NIN on the 17th of this month. I shared my right to work code and BRP, however, since then I have heard nothing.
When I called HR, they referred me to my recruiter. I tried calling the recruiter but until now he has not called back. I used another number to call to see if perhaps my number was blocked as call kept being busy. Recruiter called back on that line but I did not pick. He is still yet to call my own number he has.
I feel so sad at the moment as it was a reputable Company.
Any word of encouragement or advice will do. Please note that I am a Dependent (Student Visa). The office can allow you work while you wait for your NIN, it happened to me too. Biko which job is paying 50k I know they are many out there is it tech? 🤗🤗 |

Instablog9ja: that's why you don't apply to just one school, don't put your eggs in one basket. There's a timeframe which they could issue it, schools won't issue CAS earlier than when they should or after when they should. Reapply (the school information centre will have more information about that) or try somewhere else Most Universities in U.K. requires you to pay deposit before you are insured CAS, saying not to put eggs in one basket does not suffice in this matter, CAS is normal difficult to get in most Universities around this time, the best way is to always start early and if you know you are late better you research Universities that issues CAS easily. Eg Swansea, Stirling etc |

Good evening, please how did you contact Nigerian embassy in London to know the issues with your passport? I did mine and up till now I have not received though I was given 13 next month to get it and someone we did together and stay in the same area has collected his. I just want to know how you contacted them to know the issue for delay. Thanks comonsavar: My kids passport update; Did 2 of my kids passport in JULY and got the passport 2nd of February. Reason; NIN could not be activated due to a name that appeared on the passport application but was not on the NIN registration. But it was rectified and all was fine.
Did 1 in May for another kid but did the biggest mistake by adding a middle name during NIN registration and a different middle name on the application. I had to pay new payment to correct the NIN and it is still not activated. Until the NIN is activated passport will not printed.
So my advice, take your child's birth certificate to register your NIN. Make sure you have the certificate at hand when filling the application. That way everything will be fine. Don't ommit any name no matter how long the names are. The NIN and passport office can decide to shorten the name themselves if need be. For adult, make sure you fill application and NIN with exactly the same name in the exact order .Very important. |
