lol, so u honestly believe because we speak different languages is the root of our problems? and when we adopt one language, we will all be united against our so-called enemies and our problems would be resolved? that’s a rather simplistic approach.

and u are propagating this because you don’t like the english definition of the word “black”. so how about you just stop calling yourself black, and start identifying as brown or yellow or whatever color you deem fit? don’t you think that will be better instead of adopting another language entirely and doing away with yours?

and oh, i guess u dont mind identifying as nigerian even though the word nigeria was derived from the word niger which is another european-word meaning black? so maybe we should also rename the entire country as abokiria derived from the hause word aboki meaning friend?
Thomas Sankara changed the name of his country to Burkina Faso which means land of the upright men. Nigeria should do the same and do it in a hausa word. All of Africa should unite with Swahili and we can keep our indiginous languages like Igbo or Yoruba. This is a start. If we unite with language hten we will find more things in common. We shouldn't unite with a forign language, only an African one.

AgricultureWhat is Wrong With Nigeria's Agriculture Industry? by igbo2011(op): 5:57pm On Oct 31, 2011
86% of the land in Nigeria is for agriculture (http://www.google.co.uk/publicdata/explore?ds=d5bncppjof8f9_&met_y=sp_dyn_le00_in&tdim=true&dl=en&hl=en&q=life+expectancy+in+the+world#ctype=l&strail=false&bcs=d&nselm=h&met_y=ag_lnd_agri_zs&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=country&idim=country:BFA:BWA:NGA&ifdim=country&tdim=true&hl=en&dl=en)#

How is it that any Nigerian is starving?  We have enough farm land to feed all our people and export the rest around the world.  Why do we import so much food with all this land?  Is it due to our technology?  Do we not have nenough tractors or farm tools?  Are our agricultural policies not benefitting us?  What is wrong??
CultureRe: The English Language Is Racist! by igbo2011(op): 4:09pm On Oct 31, 2011
No they are not better. but it doesn't matter what language we speak as long as it is African. While we are fighting over language or culture the foreignors are exploiting us and stealing resources. We must unite with on language, let's stop dividing so much.

Think about it, whenever it is black or dark it is always bad. Black list, blac ball, black sheep, black out etc. Those are all bad things. Dark is always evil. The dark side (bad side),

Definition of black: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/black

5. Soiled, as from soot; dirty
6. Evil; wicked
7. Cheerless and depressing; gloomy
9. Marked by anger or sullenness
11. Deserving of, indicating, or incurring censure or dishonor

The only time black is good when its Black Friday. When you are in the black that means: On the credit side of a ledger; prosperous.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Definition of dark: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dark

6. Characterized by gloom; dismal

7. Sullen or threatening

10. Lacking enlightenment, knowledge, or culture

11. Exhibiting or stemming from evil characteristics or forces; sinister

in the dark
2. In a state of ignorance; uninformed

As long as we use black and dark to describe us this is bad for us. We must change our official language to a better language. Maybe hausa or Swahili.

Aside from one whack job claiming so what proof do u have? What good does it serve us? Truth is based on your culture of elder worship and lack of continuity we are still lagging behind. I have been trying to buy the Efunsetan movie made in 2005, no where to be bought. We keep discarding the past instead of building on it.we are still using text books provided by colonial masters and we are ruled by puppets. I see NLders refer to tribes. They obviously do not know what tribe means or they'd stop using the word. We were nation states not tribes. We need to start from now and Improve us instead of making crazy claims that do not benefit us any.
Sadly the Europeans destroyed a lot of our artifacts sad but read Ivan Seertima's books or watch his videos. They are very eye opening. Us Africans did so much for this world and most people don't even know it, especially blacks. If we know our history we can do anything.

Also, what does tribe mean? My family member always told me it was the white man's word but she would never tell me why. I know it has a savagery connotation to it but what else?

We need to get of the internet and start going in person.  We need 10000 people on the street marching in ever state.  We need to have a plan for the new political structure. We need to have the government be responsible for the people.  They should not be paid as much as they are.  Anyone caught bribing or stealing will have ALL ASSETS STRIPPED AND SOLD TO THE GOVERNMENT!!

Let's get off nairaland and start protesting around the world.  All Nigerians around the world.

There are so many facts of the existence of Jesus Christ and the bible was written my his disciples, like i said, This is not about affirming racial superiority, why did the white people change my dear Beloved Jesus from a Black man to a white man, thats jst what i wnt to know and if u dnt hv the answer, jst ignore.
They want to create white supremacy. During the renascence Michael Angelo painted white pictures of Jesus. Adam and eve were Ethiopian so they would have names like Tsega and Hiwot. They want to paint the world white so they are seen as supreme to everyone. When blacks pray to a white god then they are subconsciousness praising whites. That is why Nigerians treat whites like gods. Worshiping the god that the invaders brought to you. Those same invaders killed many people. Isn't ironic how the British brought god to Nigeria while bring hell?

That's a good one from Mr. Sanusi! I agree that most States in Nigeria are not viable. Adopting the six geopolitical zones to replace the existing States is not a bad idea. In addition, the Regional Governments must exercise autonomy including resource control, while the FED govt should maintain national security with 25% taxation on regional based resources. This will put the Governors back to work, rather than expecting monthly manna from the FED govt. It will also make the center small and less attractive.
Very true. We need to havee a revolution of political structure. Also no politician (including president and senate) should not be paid over N10N. THey are using our money on their selves. More money should be put in infrastructure, education, and healthcare instead of putting it in the uselss governments hands.

@OP
You are comparing poor with being on salary at Shell? Not everybody wants to be a CEO because that takes up a lot of time. Most of those people are slaves to their money. Don't compare poverty to salaried at chevron. Poverty is living under a bridge. Salary is living in a nice house.

cap28:
The reason nigerians are poor is because we are enslaved mentally and physically to the europeans and americans, our leaders are bought and paid for and are not working in the interest of their own citizens, they collaborate with the europeans to make our lives as hard, miserable and poverty stricken as possible and it will never end until we overthrow them.
This too. We need a revolution fast of the Federal Government )especially senate). Some governors can stay.
PoliticsRe: Is It Really That Difficult To Create Jobs For Nigerians? by igbo2011(m): 3:32pm On Oct 29, 2011
You are very right, our rulers (not leaders) are too stupid to realize that investing in agriculture can provide millions of jobs. There should be an apprenticeship program that let's expats work for 2 years and they teach Nigerians (apprentices) how to do the job. Then the expats can leave and Nigerians will take over. This will bring many jobs but the government is useless. They need to diffuse because they are a waste of money because the politicians get paid way too much and they do nothing. They don't serve the country, they serve their selves.

The governors need to turn their private jets that were bought with public money to commercial airlines for tourists to come to Nigeria. The governor of Cross Rivers is an idiot. He bought a plane for his personal use instead of for his tourist haven state. Tinapa can probably bring at least 5 million foreigners a year for tourism but he is an idiot.

Jobs can be created in factories if the government would give us power and good roads. Nigerians waste a lot of money on messed up cars. That money could be spent on other things like consumer goods that will improve the economy.

Comprende, you need to find a spot in the government and work on projects, we need people like you who will care for their people.
PoliticsWhich Nigerians inspire you the most? by igbo2011(op): 1:49pm On Oct 29, 2011
The 3 Nigerians that inspire me are Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Innocent Chukwuma (CEO of Innoson), and Dora Akunyili.

SLS because he is sooooo smart.  I watch him at the Thisday event in Washington DC and he is so brainy.  He knows everything about economics and is just a master.  It is crazy how smart he is.  I need to do more research on him so I can learn his economic policies but as of what I know now, he is a good man.

Innocent because he is a hard-working man.  My grandfather told me that he watched him on TV and he sounds uneducated.  But he is a great man who is trying to make Nigeria better.  Ghana offered him great benefits for his company but he is a patriot.  Even though Aganga is trying to bring foreign companies to compete with him like Tata, Innocent is trying hard.  We need more people like him who will manufacture, that will create jobs, IGR, forex, and gain GDP.

I used to be inspired by Ngozi Okonjo Iweala but her economic policies as of now are not making me happy.  Maybe in a year if things get better I'll change my mind.

I want to be a businessman and a producer like Innocent.  If I become an economist, I want to be like Sanusi.   How about you?

PoliticsRe: Has Anyone Benefited From The Youwin Scheme ? by igbo2011(m): 1:26am On Oct 28, 2011
@Alj Harem
Dud you need to set up a power point presentation about the industries of Nigeria. Then you can give it to a government official to look at and present it. Then maybe you can implement it. You can display how it can create jobs and do a rough estimate on the amount of jobs. Also say how it can be implemented. Then try and pitch it to some people in charge over an iPad or something. Then he might give you a job for the government. You can be the overall coordinator then you can have people on the side help you implement.

Also in agriculture it can be moringa and cassava as well.

Also what do you not like about the sports industry?

I need more whys in which jobs can be created, I mean really Jobs for the youths
Agriculture can provide over 3 million jobs. We have too much farm land that is not even used.

Tourism is going to be big. We need a Calabar Airlines that goes straight to Calabar from cities around the world. Tourism has poential for the booming hotel business and will create over 500,000 jobs if exploited correctly. Not just Calabar, also Badagry, Lagos, Abuja, and Edo (Benin Kingdom).

Sports can create over 100,000 jobs if they are making good money then they can play more games. Then this can trickle down to the youth leagues for coaches and what not. Not only football but basketball, wrestling, tennis, and track and field.

We need to invest BIG money into Nollywood. We need more QUALITY and less quality. This can turn Nollywood into a billion dollar industry. Also kids cartoons have yet to be exploited.

Manufacturing can make Nigeria's economy BOOM. All they need is power and roads. The government doesn't want an enabling environment. But if manufacturing is on then more factoiires means more jobs and less importing. This can create 5 million jobs.

Steel and refinery industry will make Nigeria's economy amazing and dynamic. We cannot rely on foreign investors for everything. We must rel on ourselves. Those people who grant road licenses must stop being corrupt because thousdands of Nigerians are dying due to bad roads.
EXACTLY MY SENTIMENT EXACTLY . You actually could read my mind on this issue.

In Nigeria, everyone;Infact 90% of the skilled workers are either banking sector or accountancy firms. Oil sectors employ Nigerians as well but would prefer foreigners as there engineers etc

You do get my point.

Other governors can not buy Innoson right now because

1. Innoson lack the capacity to deliver to all states

2. The Fg is not helping

3. There are no regulatory bodies to check the health and safety issue associated with it.

I am sure there are other reason but that is all for now.

Innoson cars has the ability to employ 300,000 youths if not more directly or indirectly. I am even exaggerating
Very true about the safety, I never though about that good point.  Maybe if we set up a safety program in Nigeria that can crete jobs, just like the distrubuters and the innoson salesmen.   I heard there was a Nigerian engineer who designed a ford car (does anyone know his name?) Maybe he can be the lead engineer for Innoson to design very nice cars.

Also with innosn going up, the steel industry can start back up.  Spending money on this kind of stuff is better than wasting it on youwin or stealing it.

Power and roads also must be there.  Atleast through the distrution areas first (to seaport, to airport, to trains).
