Igbo2011, if I show you some videos of what's going on on the ground in Cote d'Ivoire, as African, you will cry  abonduntly and endlessly. As an exemple, Nigeria is sitting beside Cote d'Ivoire, but nigerians don't know about the truth on the ivorian crisis. The only sound you hear comes from western media.

In November 2004, France attempted a Coup d'Etat to otherthrow Laurent Gbagbo from power. At that time the election was over 2 years ago, so we di not have any elections issue.  The Ivorian Young Patriots with Unclad hands  stood before the french army's tanks to prevent them from reaching the presidential palace. The french militaries litteraly shot them with their  heavy war weaponeries. The AU shamefully and officially condemned the Ivorian people and did not utter any disapproval of french barbaric massacres. This story is very telling about the so called AU organization !!!!

Now lets take agriculture for example, Just go and ask the cash-crop farmers what the situation is and they will tell you. To sell to the West, you have to accept certain terms and conditions, these T&C's could be that you have to purchase fertilizers from them or anything. Also what are the T and Cs to selling to the west? There needs to be something like OPEC for African farmers. We need to do more intra African trade. ECOWAS needs to get bigger. We need to trade some our stuff to ghana for exchange of their products. But the main thing is that many African countries don't produce anything. We must start asking business people where is this product made? Start buying things made in Nigeria or Africa.

We need to hire Nigerian engineers more. If nobody is good enough hire an outsider for 2 years and have Nigerians be his apprentice. Then after the foreigner leaves the Nigerians can do the work. Nigerian apprentice program would be great for the country. The Apprentices can be paid money. Maybe this program can be given to students for entry level jobs.

We are making cars and motorcycles, this is a great start. Now we must make computers, software, TVs, furniture, chairs, personal products etc. This will make the prices of these products go down (due to less shipping expense) so more people will have money in their pocket. With the improved jobs means a bigger middle class. A big middle class means less crime so people would be developed.

It is all about technology transfer. We transferred our technology to the whites 2000 years ago and they made the Pythagorean theory. We aught them medicine, astrology, etc.

I am going to buy the book ASAP. This conversation is making me want to get into the book business. I can manufacture books in Nigeria about the true history of Nigeria. I can also translate books into hausa, igbo, or yoruba. This will create jobs and give people knowledge of their own history. Even get language books so people can learn their language.

Amujale you need to find a spot on the education ministry. Your model is great. But I have to add that we must go deep into Afrian history. We must have a year dedicated to ancient Egypt because it was so para mental to the world we live in today. Also years dedicated to the other great kingdoms around Africa. We need to focus less on European and American history. The only thing we teach the children are the atrocities that they did around the world. This will stop making blacks look up to whites. We should o world history too and talk about how the Japanese made it to be big and what China is doing now.

We must also stop doing Christianity and expel missionaries. Most of them look down on Africans and want o enslave our minds. The enslave of a mind is almost worse then physical slavery. Now most blacks on't even know we are enslaved. The Japanese were bombed (physical) but they bounced back and they are a world power. We are mentally enslaved and we just kill each other instead of working with each other.

YOu are very right. Very good points. I heard that in Japan, the Japanese hate whites because they know what they did to them in the past. Studying Japanese history is very important because they got rich by going against imperialism. Mugabe tried to do the same but it didn't work for him.

But the thing is that most Nigerians don't know what whites did to us in the past. When whites come to Nigeria Nigerians treat them like kings and queens and treat each other like slaves. This mindset must change. But we need to get of NL and do something about it. We need to change this education system.

One that everyone must be able to speak, the side languages can be your native town language then English/ French/ Chinese etc.

This will bring great pride in Nigerians and we will be able to do anything.

I would love to revamp the education sector of Nigeria. We must make our own books by African authors like Chinua Achebe and Chimmaanda Adichie. Everything we should should be Afrocentric then our children will learn to love their culture and they will be unstoppable in the future.

We must emphasize engineers, scientists, and doctors. Too many people want to be politicians and bankers. We have enough of those we need to diversify our workforce.

We need more people like Thomas Sankara, Lumumba, and Nkrumah. But now corruption is so ingrained in Nigeria that the west doesn't have to do anything anymore. If a president wants to make changes then he will die domestically like Funsho Williamss.

America supports bad dictators like Pinochet of Chile, Mubarak of Egypt, and Suharto of Indonesia. Why don't or government stand up for their people and stop thinking about their pockets?

If Nigeria can have 24 7 light, then that means that people are going to save A LOT of money. That diesel money can be used for hiring somebody, buying more products, or investing more. This will help economic growth.

Good roads mean that people will save money because many people mess their cars up while driving. Also many people die because of the bad roads. With good roads means more lives saved and less money wasted fixing cars. That money can be used to invest or hire someboy to help you. This will create more jobs and help the economy more.

With businesses saving money, more businesses can hire more people and open more factories with the money they save. This means millions more jobs and less crime. That 40,000 MW needs to come faster!!

More governors need to fix roads so they looks like Akwa Ibom's.

Yes they really need to start kicking out politicians who steal an sell all of their assets. Most governors steal because they know they will not be caught. Why are they so greedy? How many cars do they need? I wish I could govern a state for 8 years. I would turn it into the best state in the country. I millions would be hired in 2 years. It honestly is not that hard. Money doesn't buy anyone happiness but when people are raised out of poverty, that makes me happy.

Use the billions to build roads, power plants, educate all, free healthcare for pregnant women and children under 5. Also kick out all the useless politicians and the minister people who steal.

Yes thi is very true, no wonder why so many of us hate ourselves. We contributed to society in MANY ways. We built pyraminds, started astrology, started medicine, made education, made many inventions that are still being used today (but in different forms). The Europeans just came and destroyed it and changed the histroy. That is why Napolean drestroyed the nose of the sphinx because it had a negroid nose. They don't want to give us credit for our contribution to society. This is part of white supremacy.

I came to this board to learn more about what is happening in Nigeria. Many of us NLers always bring out the negative. I read a thread about Giant of Africa and someone put that we are the giant of stealing, scamming, being useless, etc. I am sick of hearing this. Many people always say that vision 2020 will be vision 2222. The government cannot do everything we must do it ourself. The first thing you do when you think about Nigeria is usually negative. This is the definition of self-hatred. If you think badly about yourselves, then no wonder why foreigners think the same. Yes Nigeria has it's problems but many countries do. So name 5 positive things about Nigeria/ Nigerians.
1. Nigerians are very hard-working and naturally intellgent people. Many of the villagers living very poorly could be millionaires if they had an education. But Education costs money in many states in the country (fcorrect me if I am wrong). Even though they are poor, they are still smart by doing business in the markets. If they had education and capital then they could be helping more people.
2. Nigeirans have great fashion sense. We are good with style wearing European, American, and Nigerian clothing. We also put our own style into it. We are known in Africa for style. Good looking people. I am a male and I think that Nigerians women are beautiful. Hopefully I can marry one in the future.
3. We are innovators. I saw a CNN thing about a Nigerian inventor who could power some houses with sewage waste. The government does not support him because the invention did not come from the west. So we are very innovating with the little that we have.
4.We have a great history and culture. Iwas studying the benin kingdom but the British had to destory it . They also destroyed other kingdom in Nigeria. And made us hate our own but we must embrace our culture. I also learned about Queen Sheeba of the Hausas. She led men to battle.
5.Nigeria is a wonderful place to be in. Nice scenery, nice weather all year, nice land and very nice people.

This is good, he is saving money by doing this. Now he needs to save more money by firing many of the useless politicians who are paid 1 million for doing nothing and stealing money.

Yes, Nigeria can but we must educate EVERYONE so we have a higher literacy rate. We need more people in engineering, medicine, and science. Everybody wants to be a bankers or an entertainer. The politicians must do their jobs corectly and put money into education.
