I heard Nigeria builds more churches and mosques than schools. The way I see it Chukwu (God/Allah) made this universe, world, and humans and she wants us to build the world and make it better for the next person. Less put less money in religion and more in education and healthcare.

We also need to cut the government and their pay. Thomas Sankara was the President of Burkina Faso. He was being paid too much so he reduced his salary to 450$ a month. He made his entire staff sell their Mercedes and ride cheap cars. All Nigerians in ministries must ride an Innoson car. The government should support them with money to grow the infant industry.

Also you were talking about foreign capital coming to Nigeria and leaving the country with profits. But this is a necessary evil. Creating a factory is hard and you need to have technology. The best way to get the technology is having a foreign company do it for you. Unless we have the resources, knowledge, and power to do it the foreign company will create jobs, tax, and profits for the company.

The thing about FDI is that most companies dont want to transfer over their technology because they have an advantage if you don't know it. That is just part of business.

We need to start manufacturing and stop importing so much. Once the power is 24 7 Nigeria's economy can grow +15%

If this happened, then what would be your reason to go there? And would you die for a revolution?

I agree with you in all besides the part about they never develop an economy. FDI is what made China a lot richer. Many companies moved there because they had world class infrastructure (roads and power). The FDI pulled millions out of poverty and raised a lot of government revenue. This also made crime go down.

Investing is different than loaning. When you loan money then you owe the money back. When you invest money, you just have to give back returns. If I invest 10 billion naira to Innoson so I have a 40% share in the company then the company does not have to pay me anything besides the profits. If they lose money then I lost money in the investment. But I am not a creditor as an investor so they are not my servant per say.

The way countries get rich is by subsidizing (giving farmers or companies money so they can grow), and protecting their economy with high tariffs (to keep the prices of foreign goods high to make sure people buy domestic products). Read how South Korea got rich. Read the book Bad Samaritans by Ha Joon Chang and you will understand what I mean. Once countries get rich, they kick own the ladder for how they got rich and they make other countries use free trade with low tariffs and they don't allow them to subsidize. Ethiopia is not allowed to subsidize their farmers so many of their farmers lose money and quit farming.

The way for us to get rich is to subsidize factories and farmers so they can make more factories so we can start exporting more. This will give us a lot of forex, grow our GDP and raise people out of poverty. We also need to develop our research and development so we can innovate for the world.

Some people say that Nigeria is where China was right now 30 years ago.

Yes Nigeria is very divided. But I am igbo and if we had a Hausa or Yoruba who raised 50 million people out of poverty, low child mortality, long life expectancy, 99% literacy, nice roads, 24 7 power supply, great welfare of people, many jobs for people,many factories and ways to get forex, etc. I would not care what tribe he/she is in. As long as people are living better and corruption is gone. If a dictator can make Nigerian happy that they are in Nigeria and proud a proud Nigeria, if he can make people list a bunch of positive aspects about Nigeria instead of negative ones (like a see here in NL all the time) then it doesn't matter. Why do Hausas care so much about who the president is. I rather has a great Hausa then a lousy Igbo president.

But if a democracy then we need to lessen the politicians. Too many useless people taking money with 1000 advisers.

I am more of an economist than a politician, but during dictatorship rule, are there governors and LGA chairpeople?

Why are you so negative? Why don't you say something positive?

I have some basic things that you can do in your life that will help Nigeria's economy and create more jobs. If everybody does these little things then Nigeria's economy will get better and better.

1. Support Nigerian sports. Instead of watching the English Premier League on TV, go to a local Nigerian Premier League in your state. Watch a Nigerian basketball game or a track and field meet. This will put more money into the leagues which will create more jobs and money will stay in the country. If there is a demand for sports then it will be supplied.

2. Where Nigerian clothes. The majority of clothes in the markets are made in China. So the jobs are being created in China and not Nigeria. The majority of Nigerian attire is made in Nigeria. This will help your local tailor. The more people help him/her the the more that tailor can grow. Maybe some day, the tailor will create a Nigerian attire factory and hire hundreds of people. The money will stay in Nigeria.

3. Tourism in Nigeria. Many Nigerian tourists go to Dubai, London, or America for tourism. Yes it is important to see other parts of the world but there is so much culture in Nigeria. Why not go to Tinapa, Badagry slave museum, or Edo state for the Benin kingdom, there are places where you can see animals in Nigeria. Stay in a Nigerian hotel, go to Nigerian restaurants while you are touring there.

4. Support the unfortunate. There are people who are too poor to go to school. For the people who have extra money, pay for their education. That child can grow up to be a great engineer or business for Nigeria which will create economic growth in the long run. Instead of letting the child stay ignorant, give him/her a chance.

If you have anymore things to do to help economic growth then add to the list. But everybody can do these 5 things, this will create jobs in Nigeria. If 30 million people do these 4 things then millions of jobs can be created.

Don't trust them, they just want to use us for oil while keeping us dependant.

If youths are working they are not kidnapping. This agricultural revolution must happen ASAP.

Stop being so negative. Everything I said has sources. See the positives of Nigeria not always the negatives. No wonder why we hate ourselves so much. If nigerians think negative then no wonder why foreigners think negative. Think of positive things.

Most young Americans don't read unless it is for school. Black white Asians, etc most like to watch TV and go on facebook. They don't invest in their minds as much. Too busy watching Jersey Shore then worrying about the recession.

Also you are right about the internet connectivity. We need to upgrade the internet capacity in Nigeria. Develop with the use of ICT.

But many people use the internet to gain knowledge. I am on the internet a lot and 95% of the time I am learning about economics, history, culture languages, business opportunities. etc. I go on youtube to watch speeches about economists like Milton Friedman, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Thomas Sowell, Dambisa Moyo, Jeffrey Sachs, etc. I learn about politics and American foreign policy by watching John Perkins speak. I learn about histroy by going on the google and searching for African true history. Before I though that Africans were in mudhuts for our entire lives. NOw I know that we had great kingdoms like the Jausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Benin Kingdoms. Queen Sheeba was a leader and everyone thought she was a man until she died and they figured out she was a women. Benin Kingdom was destoryed by the British who came to Nigeria. They destroyed our books and had us change our culture. We had great societies there and our own script.

Twitter is used so I can learn about current news in Nigeria so I always search for nigerian economics or business. I am predicting that over the next 5 years agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing will boom in Nigeria.Tourism because of Badagry (Jackson 5 museum) and Six Flags near Tinapa. Agriculture because the FG is investing more in it. Manufacturing because there are many factories that moved to Ghana but when the power is better, they will move back.

But not everyone is like me.

You nailed it, very good points.  The Chinese ha a cultural revolution and look at how far they made it.  We must do the same thing. We must all learn AFRICAN languages and characters to our schools. We must read from authors like Chimamanda Adichie and Chinua Achebe in school, not Shakespeare.  We must go back to our African roots and worship our Africans gods, like Chukwu (that is what I am doing now).  We should slowly let Chrisitanity and Islam die out.  if we all unite with one upper being then we will succeed.

The official language of Nigeria should be Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo.  I don't care, as long as it is an African language I'll learn it.  We must teach our children an African language first, then other languages.  We need to read more books in our language and also adopt new words in this language so they can be used in the modern day.  We will all be united as one Nigeria.  We need a new educational system that will teach us to be self reliant and to love ourselves.  We should teach about the atrocities that happened in the past and make sure they don't happen again.

Exporting is better for the economy and can make you more money because people will buy it bulk. But it also depends on the infrastructure. The more forex we get, the better.

This is great news. I am sick of hearing about projects that are never finished. It is cool to see finished projects.

It should be if the money is stolen then jail and withdrawal of license. The death penalty part is too strict. Nobody would sign that.

I have the best idea for the Nigerian government. The basic rule of economics is when you subsidize anything, you get more of it, when you tax something then you get less of it. We need to subsidize factories and producers in Nigeria. 10 trillion naira can be used for this project. Any factory that produces in Nigeria by Nigerians can use this subsidy. Also, Nigerian inventors can use this to jump start their products. This can be used for agriculture too.

Here is a case study: If we give Innoson 100 billion naira so they can make more factories. That money can be used to create factories in different states around the country. So if 3 factories open u, then that means more jobs, more production, and possibility of exporting so we can get forex. There is a man who knows how to solve problems in Nigeria. Here is his video:

If he gets finance for this investment then he will create jobs and make Nigeria a better place. We must stop bending over for foreigners and start loving our own people.

This is a lot better than a welfare system because it will create jobs, more government taxes, and a higher GDP.
