Just last night, I engaged my barber- a young man and his friends. A salon filled with youths and they didn’t even care. Talmbout "votes don't count". "Northerners will determine president" and some other BS.

Understandably, IPOB ideology and propaganda is strong but ask yourself who stands to lose more? The south east of course.

- The region's elders are currently going about the country canvassing for Igbo presidency.

- There are a couple of good names from the SE who have already indicated interest and are fully in the race as presidential hopefuls, not VP.

- The major choke hold on them is "your people don't come out to vote, we don't want to miss our chance". This is especially so, for the major opposition party.

Will you blame the people saying this, no! Figures are there to speak, but we won't go into those, so this doesn't become an epistle. Let's do justice to the two major topics raised.

1. Do votes count? The answer is yes! If votes didn't count, why do politicians spend so much trying to buy votes? A bulk of electoral expenses goes into vote buying, with a vote going for 5-10k in some places. Also with the new electoral act, rigging an election is no longer as easy or feasible as it used to.

2. Northerners determine the president: That's another fat lie! The north may have some controversial figures but history has busted this fallacy over and over again. Only the north has NEVER produced a president in this country. Buhari had his so-called "11 million" votes from the north, yet failed at every electoral outing, until some persons from the south and NC joined him, to plunge Nigeria into what it is right now.

Like I told some persons who cared to listen during build up to Anambra polls, the elections must happen and someone must win. Who wins is as a result of your actions or inactions.

Who wins determines your lot for the next 4 to 8 years and would also determine, if you'd get shot in the streets like dogs, if you as much as protest any wrongs meted on you.

Myself and some associates are planning a movement to sensitize youths on the need to get involved. Please, people from the SE should do the same. Before you dash anyone money, let them show you their PVC!

You in the diaspora, before you send them money at home, let them show you their PVC! Let this thing be driven through the corners of Alaigbo. Voter apathy pays no one but corrupt politicians!

A former Presidential Adviser, Doyin Okupe, has slammed the Africa Independent Television (AIT) for allegedly cutting him off while he was speaking on the Presidential ambition of Peter Obi on the Kakaaki breakfast show on Monday.

Okupe who was one of the first of many aspirants to obtain the PDP Expression of Interest & Nomination forms for the 2023 Presidential race announced his withdrawal 3 weeks ago, instead throwing his support for the candidacy of Peter Obi.

Speaking today on AIT's Kakaaki, Okupe reiterated his support for the South-East and especially Mr. Obi to be supported as candidate of the Party, even reeling out some of the achievements of the man many call 'Okwute.'

In what appeared like a technical glitch, the interview was cut off while he was speaking. Okupe who took exception to the interview been cut short, took to his Facebook page to accuse AIT of 'intolerance.'

A credit committee has voted to class a bond issued by Russian Railways as being in default, marking the first time a Russia-originated debt instruments has been officially classified as defaulted since the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The EMEA Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee (CDDC), whose members include some of the world's biggest investment banks, said on Monday it had decided a "failure to pay" credit event has occurred on Swiss franc loan participation notes linked to state-owned Russian Railways.

The loan participation notes due 2026 were issued by RZD Capital to finance a loan of 250 million Swiss francs ($268 million) to Russian Railways.

Western sanctions against Russia following the Ukraine invasion, which Russia says is a "special military operation", have imposed strains on the Russian economy and raised questions about the possible default of many bonds issued by Russian corporations.

In turn this has raised the possibility of substantial writeoffs by Western lenders to Russia.

Bank of America (BAC.N), Goldman Sachs International (GS.N) and JPMorgan Chase Bank (JPM.N) are some of the committee members who voted "yes" to the question on whether a failure to pay event occurred on these assets. The committee met on Friday.

Some analysts see this as a test case on whether a solvent issuer that could not physically make the payment due to sanctions is considered in default.

"Apparently CDDC says yes... and probably means it will conclude something similar with the Russian sovereign trying to pay a USD coupon – but failing to," said a source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

A spokesman for UBS AG, the notes' paying agent, declined to comment.

Russian Railways, which operates both cargo and passenger trains along thousands of miles of railway, said it had attempted to make interest payments due March 14 but was unable to do so due to "legal and regulatory compliance obligations within the correspondent banking network," according to an official notice posted by the SIX Swiss Exchange and referenced in the request to the committee.

Russia Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the country will take legal action if the West tries to force it to default on its sovereign debt.

Russia could face its first sovereign external default in over a century after it made arrangements to make an international bond repayment in roubles earlier this week, even though the payment was due in U.S. dollars.

If Russia defaults, it will be the first time it's happened since the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.

Fearlessly sending indeed. You folks seem to have forgotten something: sending the weapons from their sources to Poland is not the problem at all. The challenge is sending the weapons from the Polish border to Kyiv, and then distributing them to the units at the Donbass , Kharkiv, and Odessa/Mykolaiv. Keep in mind that the Russians have clearly stated that weapons haul are legitimate targets when they cross the border, and they've proven their points by hitting supply centres and fuel depots plus a refinery as far west to the border. Right now where do you think the Ukrainians will get fuel to move those weapons when they're fuel dumps are totally destroyed? Where will they get the trucks to move the heavy weapons from west to east and south? Keep in mind that the Russians still have clear eyes in the sky from spy satellites to high altitude UAVs watching the western border. Be rest assured that the Russians equally have GRU and SVR operatives equally watching both sides of the border watching out for the flow of arms.
