Politics › REVEALED: Stranded Boko Haram Members Turn HUMAN EATERS In Borno – Suspect by igbsam(op): 7:52pm On Aug 24, 2013
Dozens of suspected Boko Haram militants in Magumeri forest, Borno, have turned to human eaters after being stranded for days without food or water.

Magumeri forest is about 150 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Mallam Momodu Bukar, a suspected militant, told newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri that he fled the camp at the forest on Thursday when it became obvious that he was going to be eaten.

“I thank God that I escaped because I would have been slaughtered by now to provide meal for my colleagues at the camp,” Bukar said.

The suspected militant was captured by a Youth Vigilante Group, popularly known as the civilian JTF at Baga Road motor park, Maiduguri, on Friday..

He said the militants had been in the forest since May, when they were dislodged from Marte, Marte Local Government Area, by the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) after the declaration of the State of Emergency.

“Our group, consisting of about 300 well armed combatants, headed for Magumeri on the orders of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, shortly before the military took over Marte Camp.

“We have been wandering in the forest. We have exhausted our food and water supply, and so, everybody became hungry,” Bukar said.

He also said that they lost contact with Shekau due to the closure of GSM services by the Defence Headquarters.
“It all started last Monday when three of the combatants in camp died of acute hunger, and it became obvious that all of us will die if action was not taken.

“The leader of the group, Abu Omar, directed that a non combatant member be slaughtered to provide meal for the rest.
“The meat provided meal for the combatant for just two days and another person was killed in the same manner on Wednesday.

“So, it became certain that I might be the next person since I am also a non combatant member.”

Bukar said he escaped after volunteering to help search for drinking water for the group in a nearby village.
“I left the camp on Thursday evening after agreeing to fetch water from the village.

“After leaving the camp, I started running until I arrived at Magumeri town, so, I slept in the motor park before boarding a vehicle to Maiduguri with the little money on me.” he said.

Bukar said that he was apprehended immediately he arrived at the motor park in Maiduguri by the youth vigilante group.
Commenting, an official of the vigilante group, Mallam Ajid Asheik, said the suspect would be handed to the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) for investigation.(NAN)

Nairaland General › Teenage Boy Stowed Away In Arik Flight To Lagos by igbsam(op): 3:30pm On Aug 24, 2013
BENIN -THERE was confusion Saturday at the Benin Airport and in what seems to be a serious security breach on a local flight, as a teenage boy stowed away allegedly in the tyre hold of an Arik Aircraft from Benin to Lagos.

The Aircraft with registration number, 5N-MJG Flight 44, left Benin Airport at 9am for Lagos. Top officials of the Edo state government were on board the airline. Passengers aboard the airline were shocked when security agents found the teenager at the Lagos Airport after the aircraft landed.

Though none of the officials at the Benin Airport agreed to comment on the issue, but Vanguard observed that the teenager whose name is yet to be ascertained may have entered the airport through the Akenzua road axis due to lack of perimeter fencing at the Airport.

80% of Nigerian pastors belong to one secret cult or the other. Am not surprised. Like I use to say to my friends, the church is in the heart and not some enormous and gigantic buildings called worship centers. I'd rather stay in my house and say my prayers the little way I can and then ask for the holyspirit for understanding the Bible.

Nairaland General › Nigeria; Highest Exporter Of Human Eggs, Embryos by igbsam(op): 11:18pm On Aug 20, 2013
LAGOS—Chairman of African Anti-abortion Coalition, Dr Philip Njemanze, has said Nigeria remained the highest exporter of human eggs and embryos.

Njemanze, who is also the chairman, Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria in Imo State, added that a study had shown that Nigeria had been trafficking in eggs in the international market since 2006 without the consent of the women or anybody.

He spoke at the annual Catholic Marriage, Family and Human Life Unit and Marriage Instructors Conference, which took place at Yaba, Lagos.

Njemanze, who spoke on the imminent danger facing the family in Nigeria, said if Nigeria allowed such a thing, about a 100 million eggs would be needed per year to supply laboratories to do their stem cell embryonic research.

zeedof: you confirm it that they from the bible?? That goods, and am sure being a Christian the only holy book you believed in is bible, that means you must abide to the words in the bibles.. Oga stop criticising.. Let be focus on how to end the killing of innocent people in our country
Dude, before christ came, there was no religion. The bible Is like a record keeping book. It tells stories of old. And when christ came he also read such stories of the Bible about what happend in the days of old. When he was a kid, he reads out such stories in the synagogue. But when the time came to fulfill his purpose of why he came to earth. He abolished those rules, laws and created the new ones which is why we have the 'new testament'

During the time of christ, the read about those laws and way of living then just the way we do now.

Well, lets not focus on such. But as humans with a functioning brain with conscience and humanity in us. Killing a fellow human is wrong. All becos they don't listen to what you are forcing them to listen to. Why didn't your father kill you for going out to play football when he instructed you not to. Or why didn't your mother kill you for stealing meat from her pot of soup.

Love surpasses all things. If we have love in us, peace would reign and this is what the human race lacks.
Politics › Re: Jonathan Creates Maiduguri-based Army Division For Boko Haram by igbsam(m): 11:36am On Aug 18, 2013
@Abes. Those rules you quoted there above from the Bible are made by the priests of God before christ came into this world. But when christ came, the one and greatest commandment he gave was to love your neighbours as yourself.

He went as far as showing such love by laying down his life. He even expressed such love by going to dine with zacheus and also the same love was shown to the prostitute. He also accepted sinners into his fold and made them his disciples.

Christ teaches love and not hate. He abolished those laws of old and brought salvation to the world.

Christ is a messenger of God and so is Mohammed. Christ thought his followers love to all humans of different races, characters, backgrounds and not hate. What did mohammed teach his followers.

Love is when the thief on the cross asked christ to remember him in paradise and he replied him with an answer to bring him into his father's house. Love is the teachings of the Bible and not hatred.

We all serve one God both Christians and Muslims. His messengers are jesus and mohammed. So its what his servants teaches you that you follow. Jesus teaches love and never asked for us to fight our neighbours. But what did mohammed teach ?

Pls don't take my posts on the wrong side. Just saying it to my own understanding and I could be wrong to some people here. But my own contribution sha.

Crime › 5 Die As Rival Civilian JTF Battle For Supremacy. by igbsam(op): 6:38am On Aug 06, 2013
MAIDUGURI — At least five persons were killed, weekend, following a deadly clash between two rival vigilante youth groups seeking to curb the menace posed by the Boko Haram in Borno State.

The two groups, popularly called ‘civilian JTF’ were fighting over the control of Biu, a town about 190 kilometres from Maiduguri, residents said.

“The Civilian JTF in Biu had asked those that came from Maiduguri to leave the town because their presence was likely to cause more harm than good to residents of Biu town,” Abdullahi Mohammed said.

He said it was during the ejection of the Maiduguri civilian JTF that fight ensued between the two youth groups, which led to the killing of five persons.

“I saw five corpses before I was rushed to hospital. It is possible the casualty figure may be more than five because only two of us survived the shooting. I can’t tell where other dead bodies were deposited,” he said.

Nairaland General › Our Roads Are Now Motorable – FERMA Boss by igbsam(op): 10:47pm On Jul 29, 2013
Efforts of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency FERMA, to make Nigerian roads accessible, may have started paying off. This is because power turbines are now being transported by roads, a situation the Managing Director of FERMA, Gabriel Amuchi, an Engineer said was achieved because Nigerian roads have become motorable.

Amuchi made the claims at the Kudenda Industrial District, Kaduna, during the delivery of the last batch of power turbines, generators and sundry equipment meant for the 215 megawatts National Independent Power Project NIPP. The turbines were transported to Kaduna from Onne Port in River State by road, a distance of about 950 kilometres.
.
He said Government was clear in its resolve to transport the equipment by road over the long distance. . To give fillip to that policy, he said the Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo, who is supervising the NIPP, constituted a steering committee with FERMA given clear instructions to fix the entire road stretch from Onne Port to Kaduna with the bridges and other support structures to facilitate the smooth movement of the power equipment.

He stated that Government in its wisdom, reasoned that by repairing the entire road stretch from Port Harcourt to Kaduna, will not only make the movement of the power equipment possible but the benefits will affect other sectors of the economy.

“FERMA would no longer allow roads to get to the point of disrepair before the potholes are fixed. We will direct scores of engineers in the agency to use their expertise to work harder,” he said.

The FERMA boss, who said the Federal Government was aware of the efforts of some state governments to maintain some federal roads in their domains, advised that the maintenance must meet the specifications necessary approvals set out for such roads before the governors of the states ask for refund of resources expended on the roads.

“The government will no longer allow vital infrastructure to decay. We do not want to leave the agency worse than we met it. This is our duty. We are competently trained. We do recovery, repair and maintenance. The Minister of Works has met with the Governors and has given them guidelines for roads maintenance. I am sure if those guidelines are carried out, the better our roads will be”, Amuchi said.

According to him, equipment and manpower have been provided by the agency and surveillance of roads is being carried out with the aim of identifying areas that need urgent attention. Such areas will be fixed without waiting for worse situations.

Amuchi expressed delight with the inspection carried out by his agency on Onitsha-Lagos Road. He noted that there is a remarkable improvement on the maintenance of the roads.

On road accidents, the FERMA boss directed senior officials of the department to liaise with the Federal Roads Safety Commission, FRSC and necessary government agencies to ensure prompt evacuation, adding that heavy unserviceable trucks and tankers should not be allowed to park on the roads because they attract stagnant water that weaken shoulders of the roads.

While acknowledging the contributions of other agencies and services that worked with FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works on the committee, Amuchi said the experience was a perfect example of how inter and intra-agency collaboration of government bodies can help implement policies meant to improve the lot of Nigerians. He also said FERMA monitored the route throughout the duration of the movement to ensure that new distresses on the road were addressed.

The representative of the Minister of Power, Yusuf Fwamkat, also an Engineer, commended the contractors handling the independent power project, Messrs. Rockson Engineering Limited and FERMA for making it possible to achieve the enormous task of moving the heavy equipment on road. He also appreciated the contributions of the Police, Road Safety Commission, Power Holding Company of Nigeria and other agencies who provided security and other ancillary services while the goods were on transit.

He said the movement of the equipment took a cumulative period of 43 days over five return trips from Port Harcourt to Kaduna.
