Before I jump into offering free services on NL. Let's talk about what a Progressive Web App is.

Progressive web applications are web applications that load like regular web pages or websites but can offer the user functionality such as working offline, push notifications, and device hardware access traditionally available only to native applications.

You've probably seen the 'Save to home screen' button on Konga's website.

Progressive Web Apps are user experiences that have the reach of the web, and are:

Reliable - Load instantly and never show the downasaur, even in uncertain network conditions.

Fast - Respond quickly to user interactions with silky smooth animations and no janky scrolling.

Engaging - Feel like a natural app on the device, with an immersive user experience.

Note that, if you do not have a mobile responsive website your PWA will suck.

But using wordpress doesnt make you a quack.

As most agencies use wordpress but with their own custom built theme like ckdigital.net.

But checking the guys site blueflydesign, I can see he even used the themes demo content on the page. And frankly almost all the so called agencies I see on nairaland tow the same path. Only problem is that clients wont know, all they will see is a shining website that is the handwork of someone else.

What most of the clients fail to understand is that there is a big difference between a web designer and a web developer.

Most of these guys advertising on nairaland only know how to install wordpress, download and install a nulled theme and install numerous plugins and that is it.

Once the client wants something that cant be achieved with the default wordpress installation, problems and stories arise. 90% of the complains I see on nairaland are usually along this line, where clients wants a project and designer tries unsuccessfully to force wordpress to do what it can't.

Before you hire a developer dont just ask for links to past works, but ask details about the projects. What framework used, what plugins used and even ask for a github repository.

Now a developer that doesnt own a github account shouldn't be calling himself a developer. That us one easy way to differentiate the quacks.

From the github account you can view the type of projects and codebase he has worked on.

You just reminded me of that thread where the OP asked for how to build an affiliate reward system on wordpress. It took almost 3 months for an incorrect answer to come out. I'm sure they just googled 'WP theme for Affilaiate reward system' and since they couldnt find it they went hush. The guys on here annoy me with their threads. Another one said he will design website for 2,500. I swear I was scared.

Another one applied for a position when I needed help, I designed wireframe and told him to work front end and the idiot flopped. Just avoid them

I usually don't expect much from WordPress developer that only knows how to install themes and plugins, most of those themes come with onpage builder..


He can't build a custom website...

There are plenty WordPress developers out there and most of them don't even know css to begin with..

Always use builtwith.com to filter the site of the web design agency, if its WordPress don't fully trust it.

Good web design agencies won't use WordPress for their own website, they will code it ground up..

Wait, you call yourself a web developer and your website is WordPress, what rubbish?

Oh, there are ways to hide if a website is built with WordPress, but don't worry only few know that trick...

First off, I get your point. Being a wordpress dev however, I'm annoyed. Yes, NL web designers are scammers but it doesnt mean everybody is.

In recent years I have probably used a free theme 'Astra' to create miracles on wordpress. Mostly because I work the code in the theme editor myself. Does this mean I am incompetent? No. It means I am a miracle worker.

I used to design websites on nairaland. I am glad in all those years I delivered great jobs. No one ever called me a fraud. I didnt even have a personal website then.

If we keep on allowing these 5k website guys to run their thing on NL. The scam reports will keep on coming in.

Before you hire a web designer from NL, check their profile, when they joined the platform, their initial posts.

No just give anybody your money.

OP; I for like help you finish the job (FOR FREE) but as long story already dey, make I no volunteer. Just take heart and find someone you can trust to do it

We work in a similar manner and that's why i laugh at people who refer to me as a regular wordpress theme installer. I have divi unlimited license, with it, most layouts i see online can be built, same with avada fusion builder and wp bakery. I hardly leave any traces of my original theme in the finished work.

I however do not dwell too much on FREE THEMES as I know the importance of multipurpose themes and multi-options in times of orders surge and with e-commerce sites you need to work at a faster pace.

Some fiverr client will also choose themes, buy and give you to work with, so you have no choice.

Just signup on infolinks. If you use wordpress they will give you the link to install their plugin. Once you install you chose the ad location preferences you like. And that's all

I used infolinks and chitika when I was blogging. They actually paid but looking at the kind of traffic you're getting it would be very difficult to earn on a cpm like infolinks.

The pay is $3 per 1,000 pageview. I was lucky to be doing a minimum of 3,000 views a day.

A few months ago I would have wanted this. You seem legit. These days I use wireframe I designed myself and design all the pages from scratch. WITH FREE THEMES.

I think that's the edge I have over regular web designers. I can create anything with limited tools

Moral lesson, never believe anyone that claims he is a 20k developer. I'm a developer but I'll never take 20k for a project unless if its a simple CMS project like blogs.
You need to understand the difference between developers and designers.
A web designer can develop a website to a point and get stuck. A developer will go into the codes and rewrite the codes.

In another front, the dude have to pay your money, you have his details so you have something. All this scammers claiming to be what they are not in the webmaster section need to stop!
I'm presently working for a man who claimed he have been scammed 2 times by some guys on Nairaland who claimed they are developer.
I have to start the project without collecting any advance from him.
