Unless you have decided that you have enough clients/customers and you don’t want to grow your business any further, you will need a website to help your brand grow.

As I have said in previous blogs, your website is your businesses shop window and it doesn’t matter if you are selling a product or a service, your website is your opportunity to show the world what your business has to offer.

1) Meet customers’ expectations

Your website isn’t just about selling your product or service either, it is also there to provide value to your potential and existing customers. You can use your website to inform people of valuable information, use it to provide customer service and sell your goods.
Most customers these days will expect your business to have an online presence and if you don’t, expect to get asked ’why’? Over half of people now choose to search the web when they are looking to purchase a product or service. It is convenient for them!

2) A business website shows your legitimate

For various reasons, people tend to think that a business is more legitimate if they have a website. If your competitors all have a website and you don’t, it will get people wondering why you have chosen to fall behind the times and not showcase your business online.

Looking credible is important and you need to show people that you are above board and legal. If you don’t do this then you will continue to lose business to your competitors who have a website and are happy to show the legitimacy of their business.

3) Those all-important sales tools

There are three main objectives of every business website and that is to:

i. Inform
ii. Engage
iii. Convert

By providing quality content you can use your website to understand more about your target audience. It is important to find out what your target market is looking for so that you can then ensure that your business provides it by informing them, then engaging with them and once they are engaged they will hopefully then convert themselves into a paying customer.

4) Website Analytics

You won’t be able to personally engage with everyone who clicks on your website, but you can use the data that those clicks provide to ensure that you are meeting their demands.

Analytics can provide your business with a wide array of information that will show you how well your website is performing and help your business grow.

The information that can be collected through analytics is:

i. Your user’s demographics
ii. How users find your website
iii. The number of clicks on to your website per day/week/month.
iv. Your most popular web pages
v. What pages users are clicking on per visit
vii. The amount of time that is spent on each page
viii. The all-important question, how frequently do users return to your website?

5) Your website is another marketing channel.

Your business website gives you a way to introduce your business and what you are offering to a whole new audience and it is another way for individuals to find you.

Like everything, how many people’s attention you grab online depends on the amount of effort that you put in. By adding a blog page and social media to your website you are raising the likelihood of people finding you.

When adding content like blog articles, think about who you are targeting and how you can gain their attention. You must write about subjects that will interest them and give value. This will spark their interest and they might even forward your content on to their friends and family if they believe that your content could be useful to them too, therefore increasing your market reach.

Now think again, what reasons have you got for not having a website?

Now tell me your reasons for not having a website. I bet the reasons you had have now diminished and you’re seeing the positive aspects that a website can bring to your small business.

Think of your website as an extension of your business card. Your website is a super doper business card that will have more reach and in time bring in more potential clients.

You're right...most times PEPs from Nairaland ask for heaven and earth and yet can't pay when you quote figures for them...mainly becuase Nairaland is littered with wasmasters claiming they can do anything for fees that are plain ridiculous to say the least.

But I normally includes basic SEO as part of my design process I charge nothing for that though except the client needs something extra.

I understand that for users like me, I do on budget offers. But some guys out here, they will say "Any kind of website for 5k".

There's one that has more than 100 threads here that messaged me on whatsapp and was asking me where he would get wordpress themes and plugins. His ads are very convincing and he doesn't know where to buy themes from.

Sha, God go help. I just pray nairalanders don't get scammed in their bid to get the 'best services' for free

The importance of the Internet towards business growth cannot be under emphasized.

If you fall into the 2 Categories:
Imagine this scenario, physically you are the biggest distributor of an item in a city like Lagos. Then a customer who doesn't know the Lagos terrain, decides to use 'google' to find the biggest distributor of an item you are known for. Without an online footprint, you are less likely to be found. Somebody operating in his backyard will just come and take all the glory.
You need to have a digital footprint. For the good of your business.

If want to argue that you have a Facebook page, can you Identify the number of products you have thrown to the outside world via Facebook ads?
