Good evening. It has been a while since I came out here. I can now see that everybody in this section is a web designer. It's funny. I am also aware that most of the guys here use WordPress, hence... this challenge is to be wordpress based.

The rules are simple. Every Friday, I'll put up a design inspiration and contestants are expected to design websites that are closest to the reference website.

The Original websites are NOT designed on WordPress, but in order to Seperate the Real men from the Children, we're making it difficult.

I don't have time or power to start introducing myself. I've been here long enough, when actual web devs were on NL. No be all these plenty scam. So straight to the point.

1. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THEME YOU USE.

Wordpress themes don't matter anymore. Any theme can give you the expectant result. Annually, I use a different them for all my clients. No matter what I am building, I use the same theme and it is 100% free. Last year I used Astra, this year, I use Blocksy. Next year it will be different. Stop looking for themes and LEARN to use one.

2. STOP INSTALLING 200 different plugins
I recently worked on a site where one of your 'guru's' here had run the installation. Jesus! Slider Revolution, WP Bakery, Creative buttons, Really Simple SSL, and so many plenty wahala. Be calming down, life is not hard like that. No wonder your sites take 25 seconds to load.

3. Zero Animation
Everything Static, no wonder client no dey give you referral

4. LACK of Imagination.
All your sites are the same, all your samples are the same. Your UI/UX is thrash, I dey sha pity who employ you, but since you agreed to work for 5k, you might as well do rubbish.

A lot of you called developers have been on this platform asking people to contact you for a job, I took my time to go through most of your portfolios for some of you that have websites, Instagram etc to be sincere ur jobs are not appealing enough, it shows you just learnt web development for just the money, webpages 98% disorganized, no good looking ui on instagram etc and you expect somebody to give you their money and expect a good job from you.
A lot of you use CMS a lot like wordpress and that's all you know , am not saying wordpress is bad , but you don't even know how to custom wordpress theme manually or plugins manually to meet client requirements ,you just do shitty job and deliver , some clients are cool with the shitty jobs because they don't know the world standard and it's not their fault,but haba learn work finish bfore u start to collect people money for nothing, am a web/app developer as well I know d stress and job involved but at least deliver something good to your clients.

OP, it goes both ways on this platform. We nairalanders can be a hit or mix in this business. Hosting isn't difficult and I always advise the client to handle that themselves so they get exactly what they pay for.

As for development, if it's cheap just know that quality isn't assured.

It’s a trust thing. Foreign clients run their hosting themselves and let the devs do the rest.

If I trust the client, I pay for an entire year. If I don’t, you go fit dey monthly oh.

I’ve had a client pay for everything and they still turned out to be very stupid. They would wake up and ask for things that their payment did not cover, then when I complain they will say, “Have they not paid for everything”?

If the clients cannot behave themselves, how do you expect premium services?

It’s a 2 way thing. The clients have a hand in how they are treated.

There are people that I have worked for and there was extra cash left and I extended the hosting for another year. The person got 1 year free.
