this has been my main concern. Even upon knowing what country you're in you will sheepishly seek 'leaders' in something that doesn't need it. Nigerians want to worship people. Rent seekers are ever ready to be your leader, and I think, 2020, this should be well understood by anyone that's not a 5 year old.
Politics / Aisha Yesufu Speaks On Why She Withdrew Her Support For Buhari by Ikengawo: 2:34am On Oct 13, 2020
I strongly believe Nigerians are going to create another Bakare/Oshiomole/FFK/federal appointment seeker by giving this woman the credit for this movement

According to her, she voted and gave 100 per cent support to President Buhari in 2015 but had to abandon him in 2016.

She said she felt disappointed when she saw a ruthless coldness and disdain from the President for grieving parents of missing Chibok Girls.

Aisha tweeted, “I voted for GMB in 2015. I gave him my 100% support after the postponement of elections.

“On 14th January 2016 in a meeting with #ChibokParents I saw a ruthless coldness and disdain from him for parents grieving for their daughters and I decided.”
Dated 2019.

Igbo Apprenticeship System Makes People Hate Igbos – Aisha Yesufu Sparks Debate

Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has stirred up a debate on Twitter after sharing her opinion that the Igbo apprenticeship system have contributed to why many people from other tribes resent Igbos.
It is given that the age long Igbo apprenticeship system has produced a lot of multimillionaires of Igbo extraction to the wonder of many from other tribes.
The Igbo apprenticeship system allows a businessman take a young person to learn about his business and eventually get settled (given start-up capital) after an agreed period of time, which usually lasts between 5 to 7 years. During the service period, the younger person (servant) serves the businessman (master) while learning the business.
The Igbos have used the system to build themselves and relatives into renowned business men and women even where apprentices have little, or no formal education.
A Twitter user had said: “The Igbo’s apprenticeship program is the only ‘MBA’ class in the world that teaches the real intricacies of running a business, the practical application of SWOT and PESTEL analysis. And when you graduate, they’ll give you seed capital to start the business. A system that works.”
In replying the tweet, Aisha Yesufu pointed out that “The Igbo apprenticeship is an amazing system and the reason Igbos are great in business.”
However, she went on to say that “Everything has it’s advantage and disadvantage and that same system has also portrayed Igbos as clannish people who only employ their own people and never assimilate”
Her tweets opened up a debate as she went on to state that the apprenticeship system have contributed to Igbos been resented the same way Jews are resented.
She went on; “These are my opinions and thoughts over the years and I might be completely wrong but this is how I see it
“There is a need to take a deliberate look at the Igbo apprenticeship system & begin to look at ways of inclusion. It can start with 5% inclusion of others. When you always go to your village to bring those that will work for you how do you expect the people where you are to feel?
“Just like the Jews, Igbos are resented & I have always wondered why? Is it because they are successful and can achieve anything from nothing? Is it the resilience? I concluded it is because it seems no matter how long they stay with you or you with them you are never one in biz
“A situation where as a business person you only employ your people via the apprenticeship model & no matter how long you stay in a place you never employ the indigenes there except to load and off load. there will be resentment. More if it is not one off experience but the norm
“The Jews too have that trait. Family businesses. Helping each other grow in business and capacity to gang up(if na one naira na one naira) on business issues are common traits shared by both Igbos and Jews. The others feel like outsiders not allowed to share in the goodness
“Systems are to be looked at and upgraded from time to time. It is also important to look at how things are perceived by others. You don’t have to change but just know this is how this action is seen by others
“In all the riots I witnessed as a child, I always say it is more economical than religion. Host community usually think it is the others that kept them impoverished. They feel those monies would have been theirs if these people weren’t there. People don’t blame their lazy selves.

Nigeria will sell crude oil for 40 dollars and buy the refined for 200 dollars. this is lazy mentality.

ok then convert it

This won't end well for Nigerians but I don't know why they are push her as the face of the thing? They're even putting her name on posters. I can understand if she's the leader or she started it but from everything I've seen she hasn't.

When she gets the federal appointment that is overdue for now that she has free political clout, people will say 'our leaders are xyz'. Meanwhile, look at where such leaders are made.

I don't think anything is wrong with her, but what is the point? The movement was very smart at having 'no leader' so that someone can't eventually sell them out. The people you're fighting have unlimited oil money after all.

I don't want to believe nigerians are this stupid but what's the bigger story? I would like someone who know's more than me to let me know because it's very bizarre.

Nigeria governors are very lazy , including my state Governor. Enugu state has no business of being poor if make use of what is available. coal only is the cheapest source of electricity. we can be power house of this country with clusters of power generating firms . let's not talk about road construction with coal ashes and fertilisers production.

it's you that has no business of being poor. This is the price of limestone on the international market. If you live in Enugu and think something should be done about mining limestone go do it.

Crushed Limestone Cost. Crushed limestone costs $30 to $38 per ton, from $1.59 to $2.00 per square foot, or between $35 and $54 per yard. For smaller amounts, expect to spend $3 to $5 per bag or $125 per ton

You can easily take a pick axe and hammer remove a ton and put it for sale on Alibaba, it will change your life and you're here talking about the government. You're the lazy one.

If you don't want to solve 'the problem' stop talking about it. If you want it solved go solve it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. 90% of the 'government should __________' in this form are all people giving the government their business ideas. ridiculous.

I'm asking because I don't know though i have a feeling that it's because the protestors want their own version of the sudanese hijab woman from the sudanese protests.

oga, federal government has given state that power to mine there mineral resources. do you know the value chain of coal. if ondo state can do it . Enugu state can also do the same.

Ibeto doesn't mine? Dangote doesn't mine? Isn't Shell and Agip mining? When Nigerians learn at add limestone to their cement they will build roads that last 100 years. Until then we will continue making excuses as to why the government isn't adopting our business plans.

dalu nna, Enugu State has most docile governors in recent time. coal is in comatose, ironstone dead, limestone same too. in wonder those people clamouring for restoration of Biafra do they think how will the state survive without oil.
presently the governor of ondo state has revitalised bitumen deposits across the state. they even partnered with private sector for asphalt development . now coming to Enugu , all the inustries created by okpala are all dead. we need serious deliverance in Enugu State.

mining limestone, ironstone and co aren't government projects. They're business ideas. If the ones complaining these industries 'are dead' will go into actually collecting these free stones and selling them for their market value, their lives would change.

Be strategic about what you're spreading. The idiots saying #Endpolicebrutality have no interest in ending SARS because indirectly they're immune. Check who they are if you want to be sure. I just saw Buhari's daughter post the nonsense.

If there is a problem you end it. No living Nigerian can tell you the benefit they have derived from SARS, a unit created to brutally punish SOUTHERN people for having nice phones or dreadlocks. Buhari has said again and again that he believes the young people of Nigeria are unless and criminal and this is his way of solving the problem of their existence. There's no 'reforming' that and this is about more than 'police brutality'. SARS robs more than they brutalize, Brutality is a small part of the picture

if you're afraid to say ENDSARS STFU and stay out of it.

In case you need evidence. Cross River State was once an 'oil producer' Akwa Ibom took them to court and won all of Cross River's offshore oil production. The result, Cross River is no longer an 'oil producer'.

Imagine this happening to Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and co

Oil well disputes are common in Nigeria; in August Cross River state ceased to be an oil-producing one when a court decided Akwa Ibom owned the 76 offshore oil wells in dispute. Akwa Ibom, won, and is now demanding N18.4 billion in refunds from Cross River.

This is not to say there is no inland oil in the Nigerian coast. There is, but not the amount that Nigerians are used to and without the access to the ocean oil production in Bayelsa is 1:1 with oil production in Imo and Abia. Geographically there's virtually no difference between Rivers and Imo-Abia as far as oil access. The only difference is a comparatively long coast and hence the off shore oil.

Politics / The North, Not The Niger Delta Is The Source Of Nigeria's Oil by Ikengawo: 2:22pm On Oct 07, 2020
It is only ignorance that allows most of what's being said in Nigeria to be said. The issue is the ignorance reaches the highest levels of government. Nigeria, of course, picks it's leadership from prisons (Obasanjo, TA Orji, Buhari) and various international criminal outfits like Tinubu with his Chicago heroine issues and Atiku with his bans from the US for embezzlement.

But one northern politician years ago said that the oil of the Niger Delta belongs to the North and we all, out of ignorance, protested.
Anyone that's ready to study, read, and look at the truth has to know; he's right.

1.The Niger Delta's oil doesn't come from the land of the states in the region, but it's access to the oil rich ocean.
2. Ocean property or ownership of the sea is determined by the landmass of a country. Big countries like the US and China have more ocean beyond it's shores than small ones like Denmark.
3. 70% of Nigeria's landmass comes from the North. It is the size of the North (geographically) that allows Nigeria to claim 70% of it's marine territory and this claim is what allows Nigeria to produce almost all of it's oil.
4. If Nigeria loses the north, it's access to oil will drop 50-70%
5. Even with the amount of oil Nigeria gets now, the Niger Delta is still abysmally poor... poorer than the North if you exclude the inland areas like Edo, the Asaba-Agbor axis, , forget the 'megaprojects' of Akwa Ibom illiteracy and poverty are almost exclusively focused in the North and 'South South' of Nigeria.

worst, investors are not interested in Nigeria's inland oil and nobody in the Niger Delta (minus Igbo, Ondo areas) knows how to refine oil, and investors what no business with Nigerian oil, especially Nigerian inland oil.

You Igbos are just irritatingly dishonest. Always making uneducated excuses rather than admitting you have a problem with how you host a disproportionately large number of educated hate-mongers in comparison to other Nigerian ethnic groups.

Nothing justifies kiling but illiteracy predisposes to it.

Yes illiteracy is linked to violent crime like murder and hate-mongering. Uneducated and deprived Fulanis can at least attribute this as a causal link.
Many Boko Haram terrorists are illiterate. Fact. Easier to brainwash them to hate others and take their lives. Fact.

What is the excuse of Igbos for hosting even Professors who are champion bigots and hate-mongers if it is not in the blood? What is Kanu and Igbos excuse for their numerous hate speech against the Yorubas most Igbos dance and jubilate to?

You guys should just learn to leave Yorubas and their leaders alone. Go and hate on your own woeful and wicked leaders and miscreants. Nonsense.

https://gulfnews.com/uae/crime/illiterate-people-are-more-likely--to-commit-violent-crimes-says-study-1.143570

citing a study from Abu Dhabi on crime and illteracy is woefully dishonest because the illiterate in their society are immigrants/slaves completely cut off from the countries resources outside of the manual labor they're brought in to do, and the literate are hyper wealthy state sponsored citizens who have no reason to engage in petty or violent crime (and if they do engage, are not punished as it's usually towards unrepresented immigrants).

Better studies have been conducted that proved that ISIS has more engineers per capita than any non-engineer based organization in their respective societies and that terrorism is largely conducted by well educated people (the average terrorist being a college graduate). Same applies for Nigeria.

If you're over 25 you should know how this works. There's not enough oil money coming in to steal that for election season, so they have sunk even lower to bribe away the country to achieve their aim.

As is the case, the loan will not and cannot be paid back, China will take what China will take, and Amaechi will be alright until he runs out of money to give Abuja.

Just to let you know what type of zoo you're living it. Some younger people won't know but anyone that knows how Nigeria works should know how Nigeria works. Loan taking will be the new oil looting. If you're still defending Nigeria's existence you're a part of the problem.
