Peugeot 407 is as sweet as Peugeot 407. It depends on which body of them interest you the most. They both use identical and similar engines and transmissions, including similar electrical systems. So, an abused 407 will do something abused 406 would do. Likewise, a non abused 407 will perform and serve an owner same way 406 owner with same condition will experience. awoworld:Maintenance cost of Peugeot 407 is good for business and private use. Problem with Nigerians is the deadly disease they chose to inject in themselves called Abuse and poor maintenance culture. Nigerians love or enjoy killing their vehicles and blame others for it when the consequences become unbearable for them. Don't buy a Nigerian used lion because its cheap. Get a Peugeot specialist involve that knows how to detect abused Lions before you buy any used Lion. It's what I do for clients. That's where my arrogance fully come ito play because I brutally tell the honest truth about what I found or know about any lion I inspect for clients, not what the seller wants me to say or even the client. Because I have had clients that wanted me to encourage them buy a severly abused lions because they are cheap, but I maintained my standard, even if it hurt their feelings. I would rather you walk away from nightmare with bad feelings about me because that's what you paid me (dont buy or recommend a nightmare for you), even if you don't understand me at the time. But by the time you get a non-abused clean lion and get all the tips from me on how not to abused lions within few days, weeks or months of the ownership, my perspective will become clearer to you, because nothing teaches better than personal experience. mammanbawa:Some Valve springs could stay stuck or move badly when pistons and valves meet during timing belt failure on an engine like yours. If the springs were not removed and serviced before reinstalling new valves, engine sound would change to what you are experiencing. When people choose to buy used valves which probably were straitened, you could get same engine sound. Since I don't know the full state of your engine, aside the sound, I can't comment on if its safe to do the trip with. Watch the video I am about to post below, which addressed changing of piston rings you talked about. It may give you some clarity. Ikenna351. |

Tesiday:It depends on the emission system. Some Peugeot have Upstream (green socket) and Downstream (blue socket) oxygen sensors, while some have only Upstream oxygen sensor mounted on exhaust manifold, depending on country of production. The downstream sensor with blue socket in Peugeot 206 is mounted under the catalytic converter, for the ones that have it. You need to be sure which of them is faulty (if any is faulty at all). But you still have the option to keep taking it to mechanics that have been abusing the lion or introducing more problems like you & your mechanic have done already (starting with thermostat removal) & end up turning the lion to your nightmare. Asstjohn607:The beep sound is usually an indication that the previous owner replaced the engine ECU, BSI unit & key. In otherwords, the lion no longer have the original engine ECU & BSI unit the lion came to Nigeria with, which means the lion was most likely abused electrically that led to the death of the previous BSI unit & engine ECU. Or that they swapped in radio from another 607. Or that someone did a terrible wrong connection on the lion that have started crashing the gadget ECUs. It's funny how you prefer only a Professional to diagnose the car which you ought to have done before the purchase of that lion. A lot of Nigerian men have contacted me to assist them in buying a Peugeot car in good condition. And when i informed them they would pay me N10,000 if that want that services from me, some would tell me they would rather risk it and buy the lion than pay me that amount. In otherwords, they would rather risk it and buy an electrically abused lion that could cost them thousands or hundreds to rectify or fixed after purchase (if they succeed in fixing the lion) than pay me 10k to avoid such nightmares ot prevent them from buying such abused lions in the first place. Men are known to be more logical than women in the past. But now, only very few men apply it. Women that have contacted me for services have been more logical than expected, which made me asked at point "Why do modern women act more masculine than modern men?" Anyway, like i have always said, you always have a choice no matter what, and your choice begets what you experience next. If you are in Abuja, bring the Peugeot 607 to me for proper diagnosis. Hopefully, the lions wiring harness hasn't been butchered by Nigerian auto electricians and Mechanics & hopefully i can revert the abuse to factory, if that's the current state the lion. Stumbled upon this thread because i was mentioned and here i am. I have few things to say, since i am here. Ogunvic41 sounds like my client, even though i don't know his Nairaland username, but from what i have read so far in this thread, he sounds like my client whom i know is Abuja to pick up about 3-4 Peugeot 407 for the past 3 days from Lagos. So, if he is the one, I would say the below: Yes, he owns more than one Peugeot and running UBER with them in Lagos. He comes to Abuja every once in awhile to buy Peugeot 407 for his colleagues or for himself in UBER business. I know this because i am the one that inspect most of the Peugeot 407 he indicated interest in and would ask me to inspect before coming to Abuja from Lagos for purchase, possibly. He pays for the services and i render them for him. So yes, he owes more than one Peugeot 407 and Peugeot 406 he is using in Lagos. One of the guys he came down to Abuja few days ago to pick Peugeot 407s called me to confirm if i knew him and his intention and i told him yes. I inspect, evaluate and advice him on Nigerian used Peugeot 407 he can go for or walk away from he indicated interest in. Even from the pictures they posted, one of the 3 Peugeot 407 pictures they attached they purchased was one of the ones i recommended to him was in good state when i inspected him. Well, as for those with opinion that Peugeot 407 reliability and durability are ferry tales, i would suggest to you Nigeria is made up of number of regions, regions, states, towns, etc. Lagos is just a state in Nigeria. Using what goes on in Lagos as a reflection of what goes on in other states or regions of the country is a limited way of thinking or living. Stop living in a box and online. There is so much going on outside your belief system, your phone and your environment. Majority of Peugeot vehicles in northern Nigeria are privately purchased and owned, not government vehicles or previous official government vehicles. I am not talking about just used Peugeot vehicles, but brand new as well. The question is, is my client really making big money from UBER with his Peugeot cars? yes. Are his Peugeots serving him well in the business? Yes, because i know their history/update till date. I am not here to manipulate you to use Peugeot cars for UBER, but to point out that words don't teach, only life experience does.
