franklin93:I appreciate your appreciation. However, you did it, not me, literally. You made a choice to go for what you wanted, not what majority in this thread wanted you to do. And you got what you wanted, "Your Happiness!". I was only part of the manifestation that made your want a reality. More like a co-creator in those hours with your lion. As for the 2nd Peugeot 406 V6 Auto you met when you came yesterday, I have resurrected the lion as well, irrespective of the mess they did on the engine wires which you saw as well. Funny enough, the owner intended to do same thing you were considering "Converting it to EW10J4". I called him this evening to come and pick his lion that has started running and most importantly, as designed. But he couldn't me, until I had to start the lion while he was listening through phone. He had to come with 2 friends of his to celebrate before picking the lion. They just left some minutes ago. As you experienced yesterday, if people would leave the factory wiring connections and stop butchering, cutting and joining wires here and there, none of these lions would make them unhappy. But then, majority of educated/literate Nigerians behave like they still leave in caves. The problem is not the local mechanics and the auto electricians, but these educated car owners. You don't need to be a Peugeot specialist to know that these modern Lions, including other brand of vehicle, are electronically controlled, yet they "allow" people to mess up the car wires and expect the ECUs to still function as designed. At least, they all have smartphones (even if they don't have desktops/laptops) to know how they behave when you mishandle them, electrically. Even if they don't know what ECU is, they know what "Brainbox is, its function and what it could do when you abuse any connection to it". Anyway, what to take away from this experience is always make your decisions from your wants and desires, not from other peoples opinion or band wagon. For 98% of the time, other people have no idea what they want for themselves or have any personal experience with the subject. They are just like zombies with no mind of their own except what others think, say or want for them. No balls. Ikenna351. |
franklin93:080 A client is bringing in his Peugeot 406 V6 auto (D9) today which his engine wiring harness has been butchered as well. Will use this weekend to resurrect the Lion. Hopefully yours too, if you bring in yours. Note the diagnosis and possibly repairs won't be for free. I have enjoyed mine for over 4 years and still doing and find it difficult to understand why others don't. Just stop tampering with factory wirings, if you are using modern Peugeots. Ikenna351. [sup][/sup] franklin93:I know words we speak don't always express fully what we mean. They only give an idea of what we mean, in most cases, not even close. When you said you want to convert the V6 D9 stick to EW10 stick because the body is still almost new, it doesn't mean anything to me because that's doesn't sound like a reason to downgrade a car. Is the body too new not to deserve a V6 engine in it? Or is something wrong with the engine, gearbox, Electricals, maintenance or driving experience that made you considered the conversion? ES9J4S (V6) and EW12J4 manual gearboxes are not the same and won't match. The former is 3.0 liter, while latter is 2.2 liter. It's not just the gearbox, the both bellhousings are different. I wonder the type of mechanic telling you they are the same. Is he the one to do the conversion, when he seems to lack basic knowledge of both engines and their systems? What is so wrong about that engine that you are willing to spend about 500k to do that conversion or downgrade? What do Nigerian mechanics see in this EW10J4 that they cannot develop their themselves beyond that engine? Is it not the same V6 engine that took me to Kaduna and back to Abuja last weekend and I spent less than 2 hours on each journey? Even with the crazy speed I did in the trip, yet I didn't add or top fuel after departure till I came back to Abuja and still have about 20 litres of fuel remaining, of a tank of 70 litres for the 2-day trip. Do you consider that a high fuel consumption? Let me put it a simple way for you to understand. If you cant maintain ES9J4S, you cannot maintain EW10J4. So, you may as well as walk away on time and switch to other brands of cars or older Peugeots with carburettors. For EW10J4 will deal with you same way ES9 engine would, if you abuse it. For I don't see a fault with that V6 engine that cannot be fixed. 98% of the time I have diagnosed people's Lions with that engine, the causes were abuse on engine electrics and the cooling system. Nigerians can't just do without butchering anything that looks like wire in engine bay. Ikenna351. |
Optimusshield:It's easy to pass blames to mechanics or auto electricians for damaging or abusing cars, but owners seem to exonerate themselves when they stood there, watching the abuse been done on their cars, most cases, in their presence. You can't tell me you felt comfortable when he was cutting, butchering and bypassing the radiator fan factory connection, only to complain later. If your Peugeot 406 is the model with VAN-bus or CAN-bus, note that the Engine ECU controls the radiator fan. So any wrong connection in that fan relay chamber can crash the ECU or fry it instantly. You can bring the Lion to me, since you are in Abuja, to reverse the connection back to factory for a fee, hopefully it has not harmed the ECU already. Words don't teach. Only life experience does. But if you really love your Lion, words would be enough, for it may cost you dearly to experience before learning. Stop abusing your Peugeots. Ikenna351. Optimusshield:It's 2000 production. Immediately I read your opening post, I knew the VIN was incorrect and knew the 6th digit was the incorrect digit on that VIN and I knew the correct digit/alphabet (which is "L" instead of "N" ) and I knew it was 1.8 liter engine, not 2.0 you claimed. But I wanted you to find out yourself by pointing to you a path and allowed you to choose to follow it or not. As always, words don't teach. Only life experience does. Ikenna351 |
kendraloops:I don't even know where to start. I mean with my questions. Is the car originally Right Hand Drive converted to Left Hand Drive? For a BSI unit to go up in flames and melted is an indication of a terrible wrong connection or severe abuse of factory wiring connections. So, has the abuse been diagnosed & reversed before considering buying or swapping in another BSI kit? What makes the electrician think the next BSI unit you will put is covered in Blood of Jesus if the cause is still there? You want my advice? Find out why the car nearly burnt to ashes before the discussion of buying another BSI kit even begins. BSI unit is a module; it's an ECU, just like a desktop CPU or Laptop. What do you think will happen to a computer if you supplied it with 500 volts? Ikenna351. |
Ogbaba123: adebobconed:The good thing is the car is still in good shape. I thought about swapping in V8 engine in him last year, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I love and appreciate him as he is. The lion reminds me a lot of things about me. Maybe someday, he will go, for another person to have fun with him. Will see. Ikenna351 |
id4sho:Anything is possible. All you have to do is focus on the car like I did and it will manifest. Don't worry about how. Ikenna351 |
ocheboy:I recalled I posted in this thread that any Peugeot owner that comes to this thread to learn right oil for his engine will end up wrecking his engine. As if that's is not enough, you want to wreck your gearbox as well. I also don't know where you got the information that your gearbox model is AL4. I posted few days ago about this. Just because you can get free information online doesn't mean they are all accurate, correct, true or fact. AL4 has no business with any Peugeot 807 with V6 engine. Check my profile. I created a topic on the recommended ATF for your transmission. The ATF can picture is there. I used to sell it. It's still available in Nigeria. Look for it or use whatever oil they suggested for you here. You have that choice. However, don't blame anyone or Peugeot for what your choice manifested for you. For at the end, you are the one that may or not have another failed transmission. Ikenna351. |
Readonee35L:Peugeot 504 continued selling alongside with Peugeot 505 in Nigeria, when the 505 was introduced in Nigeria market. The sale of the 504 continued even when 505 production stopped in Nigeria. Business decisions are made around profits. When a particular model continued to bring more profits, you don't cut off that profit unless you are running a charitable organisation. It's called demand and supply. The demand for the 504 was so high even after introducing the successor, 505, that they made business decision to continue the production and sales = profits. Car models are discontinued or replaced completely, mostly because of drop in sales or demand. The sale of the newer model, 505, didn't stopped those that preferred the older 504 design to still ask or demand for it, which didnt affect the sales of 505, considering how massively 505 sold in Nigeria as well. The least Peugeot could do was to facelift the 504, but the design remained the same, 1968 design. Ikenna351. |
Optimusshield:Just because internet provides free information doesn't make all the information on internet accurate, fact, correct or truth that will serve you. I don't necessarily need to see a Peugeot VIN to know the production year. I can easily tell by mere looking at the Lion. First, your VIN appears incorrect. Check & confirm the first 6 digit on that VIN. Secondary, the engine bay indicates the lion is RHD converted to LHD (UK used). Peugeot 406 production stopped in 2004 in Europe and UK is in Europe. Thirdly, no Peugeot 406 beyond 2001 European production had XU I could see in that engine bay. That 406 was likely produced in 1999 or early 2000, at most 2001. Check the VIN you posted with exact VIN engraved on the Lion and do yourself a favour, "Don't believe everything you see or read online". Ikenna351. |
Readonee35L:Peugeot 504 was a 1968 design but the sale and production continued up till early 2000 & beyond in some countries, for more than 2 decades, even though he was succeeded by other models during the sales. Peugeot 406 was a 1995 design, but sale & production continued beyond a decade, even when he was replaced with another model. And do so was Peugeot 205. What determines how long a car design stays in production is the appreciation, love and demand for the design from people or particular set of people with certain interests or wants. Ikenna351 |
A man's belief system is what determines what he does, how he reacts or what he expects. To use excuse of bad economy to deny oneself self-love, comes from limited beliefs one holds, even if he doesn't know about it. Same limited belief systems in most men is why we now have more SIMPs, Manginas and White Nights, ever in world history. How much does these genuine tyre brands really cost, if someone really love himself that much? Most modern men now find it wrong to spend some money on themselves. But they would rather spend everything they got on their women or children because "that's the right thing to do". However, you don't think you deserve to be in good shape and alive to keep providing for them, if that's what you really want or your desire? What's wrong in spending some or part of that your money on tyres that guarantee your own safety, on a very large extent? Again, this has nothing to do with economy. It's all about beliefs. Because you would be surprised that you could blow that same amount of money that would have gotten you the brand new genuine tyre brands on things you really don't even need, the next week or weeks to come. That's why poor people spend more money than rich people, buying things they don't need. Not all Chinese tyres are bad. I replaced 4 tyres on one of my lions with a Chinese brand, because I couldn't find the factory size in Michelin (My tyre brand) or any other quality brand (195/60 R15). And since tokunbo tyres was not an option to me, including going out of the car tyre specifications/size, I decided to go for the best new brand I could find the size (path of least resistance), recommended to me by my Michelin tyre dealer. It's over a year now, I think, and I have been driving the lion very hard, doing crazy fun speed with it and they are still in good shapes. I know every man won't be as speed freak or fun driving maniac like me. So buying a tyre for speed or fun may not interest you. But there are things I don't consider buying as used parts when it comes to cars. Tyre is one of them. For me, I would rather have a performance car I can afford to drive 2 days in a week and be happy the whole week, than have a car I can afford to drive the 7 days of the week but got depressed because of how boring the car is. Nothing is more important than my happiness to me and if it's mean spending a little more on my cars i love to keep the happiness, then it's done. Ikenna351. |
rinzylee:If you haven't gotten one already and still interested, you can contact me off the forum. The service is not free though. Ikenna351 |
MacPeterson88:You didn't buy a new car, probably a 10 year old car or more that have been used or driven for years by more than one owner before he became yours. So I don't see a big deal having a failed part in such a car or symptoms indicating a malfunctioning component. So, it's already an old car, not a new one. Just like every used car owner does, simply diagnose the lion and have the issue resolved. Ikenna351 |
As for those busy with defining who they think I am to others to feel good about themselves, let me help you out, for free. I am very prideful, very proud and very selfish being, you probably haven't come across. I don't give a rip about anyone's opinion, perspective or definition of me. I don't do Religion, so peoples Religious principles are meaningless to me. I am not people pleaser or sucker, neither am I a female apologist. I don't conform to society expectations or norms. The only thing that matters to me is my happiness and I live the hell however I want to be happy. So, if you are expecting me to do, behave or say what makes you happy, then you will likely be unhappy for the rest of your life if you hang around me with that limited want or belief. I would rather love someone or people from a distance than suck up to them, just to be close, living someone else life. Right now, I am sitting on one of my Lions boot, chewing some suya with a bottle of Guinness stout, appreciating the reason for coming to this Earth in this physical time. I am that good at what I do: Enjoying life! I am Ikenna. I am Lion King. I am Ikenna351. And I am good with Peugeots and flow effortlessly on them. So, you have two choices: Dislike me or love me. Ikenna. |
olutoyintope:D8 has more than one engine type. For petrol engines, XU series and ES engine have different timing belt duration of use and replacements. State your engine type or series. Ikenna |
kelz2205:The 2 radiator fans on D8 face the front grill, which is the opposite of the fans. However, there is no sensor in that chamber in D8 that determines how engine runs or stalls, unless a wrong connection to the fans affecting the Alternator or something similar. Ikenna |
autojosh:You probably didn't know you contradicted your position on your above bold statements. DS brand is owned by Peugeot (PSA). In other words, DS is Peugeot, same way Toyota owns Lexus (Lexus is Toyota). The DS 7 is same platform with Peugeot 3008. And same Peugeot 3008 won the 2017 European Car of the Year, even with all other car brands all over the world used in Europe that aimed for that position. Yet you considered Peugeot as "too low-rent" (in your words)? And still wondered why the President chose the DS 7 (Peugeot 3008)? Maybe you don't know that Peugeot (PSA) currently owns more than 4 brands: Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, Vauxhall, etc. Being a car journalist or blogger is an interesting career. But you have to choose how to go about it: To be sectional or worldwide. If you choose worldwide, then don't limit your knowledge in Auto industry in North America. There are lot good things also going on in automobile industry outside Canada and USA, if you choose to know them. Ikenna |
computerglobal: computerglobal:[quote author=computerglobal post=56499569]The VIN you decoded doesn't exist on any Peugeot 406 produced by Peugeot, by mere looking at the VIN. The VIN is incorrect and the site that gave you that information. Understand that Peugeot is not Japanese, Asian, American or German. So, understand French cars or Peugeot first to know how or where to source for information on them. Ikenna. |
mez:Don't limit your life on people opinions. 406 is not better than 508, yet others are telling you to remain stuck in 406. 406 remains one of the best cars Peugeot ever produced. It's just one of the best. There are lots of good lions after 406. Keep other people's opinions aside and live the life you came to this physical life to experience. Their personal experiences has nothing to do with you, unless you prefer to experience theirs by focusing on their opinions. Ikenna. |

GAZZUZZ:Clean Nigerian used Peugeot 406 (D9) cost about 1.5m - 1.9m. A clean tokunbo cost about 2.5m. Note that I am not trying to discourage you from mission to discourage people from buying and using Lions. Just to let you know that my clients list increasing because of people like you spewing negativity on Peugeot cars, which only influence those who live by other people choices. But those who know what they want, irrespective other peoples opinion about it come to me, where I shower them with positive aspects of Peugeot cars and it becomes their individual experiences. Find below a Testimony from a Lion Owner that bought an O.E.M Thermostat from me for his Lion recently: "........ I changed the thermostat myself yesterday, and guess what... All the thermostats I had were not working that's why temp gauge was dropping.... The car has changed completely from better MPG to smoother and softer drive. Did 460 km with 32liters, thank you so much IK. I did change the seals on the nozzles too, but it was the thermostat that changed everything..... Now I know why you emphasize on getting the cooling system right....." Ikenna, Lion King. Ikenna351. |
