Best Personal and Residential Security Tips Part 1 This is not the best of times for many Nigerians as far as security of lives and properties are concerned. Nigeria's Print and electronic media are continually awash with pockets of terrorism, kidnappings, armed robbery attacks, and many a times, unnecessary show of power (arrogance of power) by some ogas-at-the-top. The rules of engagement have changed: religious leaders, elderly people, children and even pregnant women are not spared in this onslaught. If the hand writing on the wall is anything to by, wanton insecurity bedeviling Nigeria may not abate anytime soon. My postulation and inference is that the aforementioned societal ills will increase as unemployment spirals out of control. On the other hand, a flurry of negative activities will ensue as the 2019 general elections inch closer. Since many of us cannot afford bulletproof automobiles, we need to 'do the needful' in other to protect ourselves and our properties. That is the essence of this essay. I will be sharing nuggets of information that will help us to stay safe. Now to the nitty gritty: Ensure doors to your apartments are locked/bolted even when you and your family members are indoors. Invest in good burglary proofs for your doors and windows. If possible (I know it's impossible sometimes), have a good rapport with your neighbors. They will keep an eye on your property and you will also reciprocate them. A kind of informal neighborhood watch. Be wary of letting your domestic staff- drivers, gardeners, cooks, etc be privy to your travel plans far ahead of your departure dates. Of course it is exigent you do a vigorous background check on any of these people before you bring them onboard. Only let VERY close family members know of your travel itinerary: where you are going to and your possible arrival date. You may have to program one of your close relatives phone number or that of your personal Security Consultant, as an emergency number or a speed dial such that you can swiftly dial that number without much ado if you find yourself in a tight corner. Lagos state have an emergency number (112 and 767). One wishes Nigeria has a Nationwide Emergency Number as is the case in most advanced countries. Anyway, just dial your preset emergency number even if you may not be able to talk, the good thing is that whoever is at the other end can eavesdrop and be in the know of goings-on around you. This can also help investigators extrapolate or decipher your last location through the GPS coordinate of the last GSM mast that relayed your call. Fire disasters are pretty much common during dry seasons (harmattan). A while ago, a petrol tanker was said to have exploded somewhere in Apapa, Lagos state with attendant casualties. Motorists and safety conscious home owners are hereby implored to invest in fire extinguishers. Fire/smoke alarms are also affordable these days. Ensure you unplug all electrical devices from the socket if you will be going out. Ensure your residence and surroundings are sufficiently illuminated . Unfortunately 247 electricity supply cannot be guaranteed in most parts of Nigeria but there is a way around this. The advent of solar panels and inverters means one can still power say 4-5 or more energy saving electric bulbs within one's residence at nights. Alternatively, please buy and keep any of these cheap rechargeable touch lights or lanterns within your reach at nights. Stay safe! AgamaProf:hear ursef bro, where do they do their masters program, what u were taught in masters in the school u applied to will tell if u can proceed for ur PhD in lieu with ur masters grade...how many UI graduates could not make PhD grade in masters, somethings are general and shud not be portioned to just a school , I guess If u see dos from unilag, OAU and UNN dat could not make PhD grades in masters u will say they teach them nothing ...so because u saw few graduates from UI dat could not make PhD grades in masters u generalize it dat UI dont teach anytin or there students are dull. Aside that, I still don't believe ur fact cos anyone can just cook up a story |
Khd95:don't mind them they just want to drag UI into this nonsense but we Uites don't a have that time, we are in class of our own.. |
KOLLYPROF:u can never see my dear unibadan in Dis kind of thing, we breed brains with discipline not mediocres like d ones displayed above..UI with her own class, respect..we no get time |
Nltaliban:bro stay there, some ppl caps are already changing to admission in progress...I saw someone's one...animal science ...so if u know ur own course starts from A go and check ur caps cos some are already seeing admission in progress oo |
pls guys, now that UI has released her departmental cutoff mark when should we expect admission list |
pls can one change from chemistry to pharmacy in UI after 100 level with a good cgpa |
Ademola47:see my bro, no profession is superior to the other, all medical courses and related medical courses are not superior to any profession and no course can determine your success in life...I have always had dat thought in mind dat no matter the course I study there is always an opportunity to make impact poitively and also amass wealth...in fact d only thing in those courses Is job security, I have never heard of a doctor being in d forbe list of d richest in the world...bill gate and dangote are not medical doctors....I respect medicine as a course and other related medical courses too but they will only make u comfortable and not make u rich....whichever course u choose study it well and see a way u can use it to solve a problem in d world trust me u r wealthy already....prepare ur mind to be an employer of labour and not a job searcher....u can apply to chemistry among d courses u listed above, what Is not chemistry on earth, virtually nothing and everything on earth revolve round chemistry....I also applied to chemistry UI and I beat d cutoff following d leaked cutoff posted above...my 10k |
simplebb:In descending order of courses, 55.5, 56.0, 54.62, 54.26, 64.37, 53.0, 51.25, 56.87, 56.12, 59.5, 53.12 |
micskales:yes it is not clear but i think micro is d second to d highest cos am seeing sometin like 59 while comp sci is 64 |
chloride6:the highest score which is 90 is from art..communication and language art...art folks killed d post Utme exam but we science folks jonze Dis yr |
Pes13:my oga pls can u guess what the cutoff for.pure chemistry could be this year...tho last yr it was 50, I had 59 on aggregate but am still bothered on what d cutoff for chemistry could be Dis yr |
overcomer90:like seriously my guy u get it....the questions were simple but highly technical ...I also realized I fail that longest bone, failed some in chem like which is a fundamental SI unit ..I choosed millilitre because d question was asked in chem and not phy, I ignored kg ..many like dat I later realised I fail of which I know dem very well , maybe d exam pressure due to consciousness of time contributed to it but I am thankful to God for d 60 I got ....chemistry department here I come |
SoSlimOlak:hello, I am a chemistry aspirant ...59 on aggregate ....I already sent u an email drop ur contact |
any pure chemistry aspirant here ? |
soviete:OK even if the cutoff for pure chemistry will increase are u saying it can increase from 50 to 60+....haba, let's reason it na...even if it will increase I give it additional three marks to d previous 50...pls let's try and ease this cutoff mark tension on ppl by being optimistic na |
