There's a world of difference in it.
Mr man. Why did the Nigerian Army shoot civilians? Why? If they didn't shoot civilians, will anyone cry in the first instance? Is shooting the head ever the cure to headache? Is shooting at sight the penalty for any crime?

The real issue is not how many people died. The real issue is that the Nigerian Army shot civilians like target practice. The government failed. That's the very thing they were protesting against which the government claims to have heard.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Practice Of Prayer. by Image123(op): 2:37am On Oct 23, 2020

As you look at God's promises in prayers, always consider God's plan and God's purpose. While He promised that "He will have whatsoever he saith", that whatsoever should be in God's plan except you want a permissive will of God like Balaam did. The scriptures enjoined us to stay away from the deeds of Balaam though.
Also remember God's purpose. What is His purpose for you and for what you ask? Align your prayers with God's promises, plans and purpose.

So ... your point here is what?

You've defo slipped into proof-texting mode, because I am 10000% sure that when God created Adam and Steve, He didnt for a nanosecond, think that Steve wasn't in the overall scheme of thing, part of the whole common good.

Man, no doubt, since after eating off the TKG&E, became debased and devalued, but hey thank God for coming to the rescue in the person of God incarnate Himself, Yahshua Ha Mashiach aka Jesus Christ, The Lord and Saviour of the whole wide world. Praise God Alleluia!.
You refused to show where God made Adam and Steve. Perhaps Jesus Christ was prooftexting when He quoted the passage too in regards to marriage. i am in good company.

Relationship, in regardless of gender specifics is on a higher priority before sexuality.

If you are referring to Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-27, and even 1 Corinthians 6:9 and/or 1 Timothy 1:10, as what the "numerous passages" are, I would take you to task, that, each one of those verses are linked to temple cult idolatry, lust, promiscuous sexual intercourse, infidelity, unfaithfulness, disloyalty, evilness, temple cult prostitution et cetera. Your opinionated stance will change when faced with facts and truth, that are gummed with incontrovertible proofs, lmso.

God has never said anywhere that it is sinful for same sex attraction couples, who dont hurt either of themselves or harm others (e.g. children, animals, environment et cetera) to be in a monogamous, mutual committed, faithful, loyal, truthful, kind, caring, honest and loving same sex attraction
The Bible in several instances refer to the husband and wife relationship. If you believe it has no priority, prove it so from the Bible. Marriage gender is not necessary but it is somehow the only example all through scriptures.
Like you have quoted some, the what is very clear. The esoteric why is your opinion which you are entitled to.

I do remember Ananias and Sapphira. I remember that treachery, lies, stealing, being self-centred, lust, pretending to be what they aren't, not being truthful, not owning up, hiding who they really are, et cetera was their cause of them meeting their Waterloo.
The question was WHO did they hurt, i don't think i need an exegesis of what they did. Anybody knows that they lied.

"The second most important commandment is this:
'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
No other commandment is greater than these."
"
Mark 12:31

"The second most important commandment is like it:
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
"
- Matthew 22:39

"All of Moses' Teachings are summarized in a single statement,
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
"
- Galatians 5:14

"8Owe no man anything, but to love one another:
for he that loves another has fulfilled the law
.
10Love does no wrong to others,
so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
"
- Romans 13:8 & 10

Is God hurt by love? Does God abhor expression of love? Does God find loving your neighbour as you love yourself sinful, huh?
God is love, any other love outside God is a disguise. Two fornicators claiming to love one another are a disgust to God and to me. Anyone who loves me as himself will behave normal and straight BTW, i am greatly hurt by the mere word homo not to mention being a practicing married one. An homo is a selfish, greedy fellow with no regards for me, and usually for former friends, family, church and the sane world at large. Love is selfless not some crazy feeling for a fellow man.

I dont think you've seen me in combative mode though here on the issue. I havent come with sword undrawn nah, not even in a whimsical sense of it too.

If God did not create Adam and Steve, who created Adam and Steve then?
Who else but the thief who perverts while men slept? While God created all men, he didn't create men as sinners.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female
created he them. 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

All valid points you've rightly listed, but please share what particularly is the sin with same sex attraction couples in a monogamous, mutual committed, faithful, loyal, truthful, kind, caring, honest and loving same sex attraction relationship act of love?
What evil is there in same sex attraction couples in a monogamous, mutual committed, faithful, loyal, truthful, kind, caring, honest and loving same sex attraction and who dont hurt either of themselves or harm others? (e.g. children, animals, environment et cetera)
The sin is that God doesn't want it for humans as stated in numerous passages that you are aware of. You are free to your opinion as to the WHY, the issue on discussion is the what. God wants husband and wife, not wife and wife or husband and husband. Do you remember who Ananias and Sapphira hurt? It was God,not Peter or the church or even themselves.

LMAO! Your god is so incompetent he can't ensure that there are no "suspicious or contrary or contradictory" translations so neither is it my business to vet the translations. Besides it is not only the NIV that translates it that way. Bwahahahahahaha!
Lol, your ignorance is amusing given the Light of the current sad situation in the country. The Bible is not dictated either in the original or translation. There is NO 100% translation or writing, neither is it needed. The Bible was not written for professors of grammar and Nobel laureates in syntax and language. It was written for the whole world. It is as simple and basic as water and fruit that the little, the young and the weak majority can also access and get what is needed for life. Understanding of the Bible is not in its grammar or phonemes. You need a real encounter with the Spirit of God, not academic gragra to get anything tangible. That's why you've consistently met a brick wall since you were born.
Like i told you, i don't have a problem with the niv and thousand other translation. Translation is not an exact science. Any proper study will however show that the verse was poorly translated. If you put in the effort you use in replying me to study for yourself, you will not be this ignorant. It's all free online.

LordReed:
Go and disturb them to correct their translation of your "word of god". Bwahahahahahaha!
None of my business. One, i normally use the KJV which gives a better translation overall IMO. Two, even if i read the niv, i have access online, on phone, on computer and hardcopy to different versions and translation as well as study materials. The Bible itself enjoined its readers to study and not just read. To prove and confirm. If i see suspicious or contrary or contradictory passage even in the KJV, i study, i compare, contrast, context, check the Greek or Hebrew as it were etc. All translation have done a good job and likely sincere job so i cannot blame them like you are hoping.
Anyone who has tried translation or interpretation will know it's not an easy task or exact science. So don't stand on one shaky niv translation leg to build doctrine. It's like the proverbial ostrich. There's wealth of clear evidence to the contrary.

Don't use a poor translation to arrive at your point. i have shown you how and why it is a poor translation of the verse. i am not blaming or lauding you or the NIV, just showing you the proper and logical thing.

i don't remember the exact modalities, but brother i remember that we agreed to shelve sword on these issues. You cannot continue to compare being left handed to being an homo. Being left handed is even in the Bible and there is no wrong attached to it by the Bible. But on the other hand, we all know that God did not create Adam and Steve, it was Adam and Eve. From the beginning it was not so. A man leaves his father's house and is joined to his woman. That is the Bible standard from cover to cover. You cannot give the excuse of consent or of both enjoying themselves. that is largely superficial. Many sins are enjoyable and pleasurable to the doers. Even the Bible talks of the PLEASURES OF SIN. Sin is not guaged that way.
A married man and a woman consent and enjoy themselves in fornication, it is still a sin.
Two unmarried man and woman consent and enjoy themselves in immorality, it is still sin.
Two minors consent and enjoy themselves in fornication, it is still sin.
One adult and a minor consent and enjoy themselves in sin, it is still sin. It has no other good name.
Some lying, coveteousness, idolatry and suicide may even be argued to be with consent and to nobody's harm. It is all superficial. Sin is sin.

Interesting how times have changed, erhn. Things are very different now than they used to be. The situation of being lefthanded, is different now, from the way it was seen as, in the past.

Some lefthanded people born that way being lefthanded, changed from no longer being lefthanded to becoming righthanded. It is obvious the reason why they changed, like societal pressure or religious pressure reasons.

When posters ask what is the reason or purpose for being gay, though there are a few reasons, this still is like asking for what purpose is there for being lefthanded. The simplest response is, it just happens. Shiit, like that just happens. On the surface we dont know why, we really dont, without looking under the bonnet, know why.

Having genuine homosexual behaviour, as in my preceded, stated clearly and in detail, in context, with respect to the circumstances I've stated, is no more abnormal than being lefthanded is. Same sex attraction is not evil, it is not doing anybody harm. Anyone, as homosexuals/lesbians, arent necessarily harming others with it, so far homosexuality is done the right way, so far the homosexuality act is not abused or misused.

Being gay is like being left handed. Just as some people are left handed, so, some people aren't. Nobody really looking at it from the surface knows why, except for, it's because we live in an imperfect world. It is not a matter of right or wrong here. It is a matter of thats just the way things are, and so it is that, there is nothing abnormal in two easy going, ordinary consenting adults, minding their own businesses enjoying a life long caring, faithful, committed, truthful, honest, loving each other lasting that's life-long and loyal same-sex relationship, that has no detriment to another person, no betrayal of another person, or no cheating on another person, and not harmful to an object or neighbour

Two consenting adults that are not being promiscuous, is a good thing. It is further a good thing, if they are two consenting adults, that are at peace with each other, with God and in truth, because their intentions are good and their hearts are pure.

LGBTQ, doesn't mean "Lets Go Beat The Queers", doesnt mean "Let's Go Bully The Queers", doesnt mean "Let God Burn the Queers" or "Let God Burn Them Quickly" nor either does LQBT mean "Let God Burn Them"

LGBT, acronymously typifies, Let God Be Truth and and every other man a liar, because Life Gets Better Together (LGBT), the moment we realise and recognise that every human being, regardless of sexual orientation leanings, deserves a safe and supportive environment to live in and without feeling fear of being put to death, without restraint or obligation, without being bullied, being shamed, discriminated against etcetera

◄ Numbers 5:27 ►

New International Version
If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.
This is a rather unfortunate and poor translation.
Num 5:17  And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:

You must be of the Krest family to think that water and dust causes miscarriage or abortion. Asides the fact that this practice is obsolete and does not in any way support abortion in the present time, you are wrongly supposing that the woman is even pregnant. But the curse here is for the woman whether pregnant or not. So if she is not pregnant, how can she abort, abort her food?

Here is the KJV again.
Num 5:27  And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

Compare with the translation you presented.
If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.
Look at it objectively. The word translated as "belly or abdomen" is 'beten'. It is used for both men and women BTW. The word translated as "thigh or womb" is 'yarek'. It is also used for both genders. In fact, beten is more often translated as womb so i am not sure why NIV mixed it up.
The word translated as "rot or miscarry" is 'naphal'. Naphal means to fall. It is the exact same word used in the following passages.
Gen 2:21  And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Exo 21:33  And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
Lev 26:7  And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Num 14:29  Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
Deu 22:8  When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.

Do not take my word alone for it, check up for yourself. i have deliberately quoted the five books written by the same person, the same language. i am sure none of those words suggest or mean miscarriage. They all mean FALL or in some cases decay or rot. It is only foolish to insist otherwise. The translation is poor, and your conclusion is inconsistent with all other known Scripture. God is against abortion and does not approve of it for you or your neighbour.
