Technically or grammatically, the phrase "give my life to Jesus/God" is not found in the Bible. But the concept is very much found. It is commitment and consecration to follow Jesus. It is the life that happens after salvation.

While salvation is not of works and all you actually do is to believe(Accept, Believe and Confess). It happens immediately. Christ's work of redemption is in salvation. The implication is that you are no more your own. You have been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. You now belong to Him.

Okay, that's your born again clean slate. Now your working out your salvation begins proper. You are no more a sinner but a forgiven child of God. Now, you have to breathe, eat and grow and every other thing babies do. This is the real/Your turn GIVING your life to Christ part. It is a daily one step/breath at a time thing.

It is a "giving" because you have flesh as a human being. Your spirit was renewed or changed, so that you can be a child of God who is Spirit and Father of spirits. God/Christ gave you that, you can never do it on your own or through any other means. But you as a human being have a mind that must be renewed, and a flesh that is pretty much useless as you may soon find out if you grow enough.
You have a part to play in renewing your mind, and taming your flesh. This is the consecration and commitment. This is you giving your life to Christ, denying self. There are many practical ways to this.

The answers given are not too different like you try to make it. And i am certain that most of them are honest answers and interpretations that are not FOUNDATIONAL or do or die. BTW, the heaven here is what we call the atmosphere. In the Bible, there are many heavens so try to STUDY which heaven.
Asking where God was before creating Heaven again is like asking where your dad was before he built or rented his house. It is that simple.
What the Bible means by dividing the darkness from the light was simply demarcating or setting them apart. It was not ALL darkness or ALL light(like in Heaven), but day and night. Nothing mysterious or confusing or worth twisting here.
BTW, these things are unimportant(in the grand scheme) compared to how you are hawking them. You don't need to know this or understand or even believe this for eternal life or anything important. A proper Bible study will help see these things as clearly shown in different parts of the Bible. 1. The question you failed to note or ask is "What beginning, whose beginning". Your beginning is not necessarily my beginning so perspective matters. The Bible clearly teaches that God has no beginning but is eternal, so it is certainly not His beginning or autobiography here. It is man's beginning. Not even earth's beginning in focus but man's. If anyone of you unintelligible ones know about building houses, you will observe that the beginning of the house is not the beginning of the builder. It remains crazy to ask where was the builder in the beginning if he built the house.
