It is rather unfortunate that DSTV will bribe their last kobo to frustrate this project. They did it to HiTV and Startimes. The same thing MTN is doing in the telecoms industry. We need to have a law that punishes monopoly
CareerRe: MSc In UK Versus N183k Job Offer: Advice Please by Imagineers: 12:45pm On Sep 08, 2017
DanXplore:
Please, i could use some career advice from great nairalanders. Please tag monikers that you think would be of great help, as i am at a crucial point in my career.

I am a graduate of chemcal engineering but for 2years now, have not gotten any engineering related job. The only job i got was at KPMG (audit), which i resigned after 3 months due to some personal reasons. I am currently an Area Sales Rep with a poultry feed production company that pays 183k per month (net take home after tax and other necessary deductions), though i could use up to 20 to 25k to fuel my car monthly.
Now, i just got a PTDF scholarship offer to study Advanced process integration and design in UK but not really sure if it is worth ditching my current job for it.

I am not very confident about securing a job once i finish msc because only a handful of opportunities come for chemical engineers. more also,UK rarely retains Nigerians.

Please what are your advices, especially from those who have done Msc in Uk.

I need your advices, i dont want to make a costly mistake.
Getting a higher education on scholarship gives you an edge anyday. The job you are presently enjoying is an "agbero" job. Sorry to say. It is limited and subject to government policy.

Having a teaching job with your masters degree gives you a better trajectory

Easybab4life:
GOVERNMENT AT EASE: FLOOD INVADING COMMUNITIES! 1865 HOUSEHOLD DISPLACED IN ENEKA CLAN OBIO/AKPO LGA RIVERS STATE

Flood everywhere yet little or no effort by the relevant agencies of government! Wow! What a country! We watch and commend what is going on in other countries of the world invaded by flood yet our government seem to be putting up a deaf ears to the pains and losses experienced by the poor masses they are governing! I have decided to join my voice with the flood victims in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State and Nigeria at large to call on the attention of government at all levels as well as non government agencies to come to the aid of these poor masses.

ROLE OF NON POLITICAL LEADERS AND ACTIVE YOUTH GROUP

Assuming our government have forgotten that they need to help salvage the situation for our people, I think it is high time for all well meaning personalities such academic boss' religious boss' active youth groups and philanthropic individuals to raise their voices against this unhealthy act of our government. With all due respect for our political leaders I want to submit that they are have not taken this matter seriously and lives are been loss. Can't Nigerians emulate good acts? China, US Texas, Bangladesh, India etc are also experiencing same with Nigeria but I see a very sharp distinction/variations in the manner of response towards flood invasion! There actions clearly defined what the term natural disaster and emergency situation implies!

Government at all levels in Nigeria should pls borrow a leaf and demonstrate some level of respect, care, love and sympathy to the people they are leading!

It is THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR GOVERNMENT TO SYMPATHIZE and EMPATHIZE with all flood victims and stop pretending as though they are not aware of the adverse effects of flood on the social economic status and health of fellow Nigerians!

My question is what is the essence of Ecological/intervention fund? What is the essence of setting up emergency/agencies/department? Even though it's a natural disaster, should we allow the disaster to kill everyone before government we act? If some of the money recovered from looters (looted fund) will be invested to addressing flood incidence in the nation, is it a bad idea? I am not a flood victim but I have decided to join my voice to the pains of the voiceless flood victims in Obio/Akpor, Rivers State and Nigeria at large!

YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE CONNECTION OR MONEY BUT JOINING YOUR VOICE AND SUPPORTING THIS CLARION CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT WILL GO A LONG WAY.

IF WE CANNOT HAVE OUR WAY WE CAN AT LEAST HAVE OUR SAY!

EVERYBODY IS DOING SOMETHING - GOVERNMENT DO SOMETHING

Keep sharing until the world hears about FLOOD INVASION IN WARD 14 OBIO AKPOR LGA, RIVERS STATE AND NIGERIA AT LARGE!

RomanceRe: When You Maltreat Her She Becomes Available To Other Men by Imagineers: 10:08am On Jul 28, 2017

Princess Diana was maltreated too? Abi
FamilyRe: Children Of Woman Who Hired Assassin To Kill Her Husband: "Forgive Our Mum" by Imagineers: 8:52pm On Jul 23, 2017
Madness is hereditary. Some or all of the children could be having this trait. The report was that they were in the house when the crime was commited and they never cried when their father was being buried but when police came to arrest their mother they started shouting and crying. Let them do a DNA to determine if those children actually belongs to this man
EventsRe: Mad Man Given A Befitting Burial In Kwara State After His Death (Photos) by Imagineers: 8:40pm On Jul 23, 2017
Contrary to general statement that this man was abandoned, I disagree. Where did he get all the money he was buying coke from? Looking at the posted pictures apart from his dirty clothes, he was looking well-fed. That was a sign that he was being taken care of. He could even be having sex regularly those burying him will know
PhonesRe: Minister Advises Nigerians To Brace For Telecom Data Price Increase by Imagineers: 8:52am On Dec 07, 2016
Shittu is a disgrace to this government. He was the one that unilaterally reduced the fine imposed on MTN.

He was complaining as a federal minister about lack of electricity! He was even talking about increase in foreign exchange! Who is he defending?

He has a nag for protecting private operators who are punishing Nigeria daily.

Since 2001, MTN was given a tax holiday for fifteen years for operating in Nigeria. 2016 is the their first year for corporate tax since they have been operating. Now the minister is supporting them to recoup money meant for the people through the back door.

A law should be made for ministerial nominees to show which department they are going to work. If this were to be the case Shittu will never be in telecomms

CareerRe: PHCN Staff Electrocuted In Ikeja Due To Lack Of Safety Equipment(Graphic Photo) by Imagineers: 7:33am On Apr 11, 2016
This particular piece is very wrong and it insults our sensibilities. Those who are privy to the facts of the case will know that someone is trying to use Nairaland to misguide the good people of this country.

No sensible staff of any electric company will climb an electric pole without following the safety procedure it is a matter of life and death. In this particular case, the entire area was in darkness for about two months and this same supervisor refused to restore, The entire community resulted to complain and a senior manager authorised the restoration, Everybody was there with camera phones recording the repairs as they were happy the light was being restored after suffering for a long time,

This supervisor got wind of what was going on and instructed the transmission station to switch on the feeder and those boys were electrocuted. In any good environment this supervisor supposed to be in prison awaiting trial. The way he is going about to distort the case will make the families of those involved to loose their compensation
FamilyRe: I Need Help! Its About Life And Death by Imagineers: 5:18pm On May 29, 2015
This type of situation is very common everywhere you go. The so called female independence has turned the family social structure upside down. Imagine a family you struggled to maintain: at times borrow money from the cooperative to pay school fees, only to wake up and realise you the man of the house is now a nuisance. The house is divided to two and the husband is alone with the wife and children on the other side!

It is a test on the man's strength of character. I pity him if he is the one owning the house they will kill him to inherit the property. Lobatan. Lady if you believe your father is wicked and if it is true he is your father, Holy spirit will take control. The man is reacting to a stimulus. Stop stoking the fire, his family may not like him if anything happens to him they will take sides.

I am sorry for you. For you to fall into that crap shows you do not have a strength of character. Grow up. Lobatan. Think of your children. Are you sure this little rat did not contribute to your matrimonial breakup?

RomanceRe: Pls, How Can A Rich, Young And Handsome Guy Find True Love? by Imagineers: 11:51am On Jan 15, 2015
obongproff:
After like three painful heartbreaks in d past, my friend decided to stay away from women especially as he realised dat all d girls dat left him did so becos he was broke and kinda jobless.

8 months ago he got a great job with a pretty fat pay. He's living well and rily doing well for himself. Howeva, it was afta he got dis job dat he realized dat a man can get almost any chic if he has a nice car and a fat account balance - he owns a Ford Edge 2014 version and Toyota Spider.

Rite now, he's tired of sleeping around, meeting plastic chics and moving from one chic to anoda. And he's a bit confused cos 90% of d ladies he meet are more interested in his money dan in his person. He wants to get married but he wants to marry a girl dat loves his person and not his money. He also has good looks too.

Amaka dat lives along his former street who used to snob him before, saw him in his car when he came to visit his parents in dia family house(his former house), and since den he's suddenly become Amaka's sweetheart. D worst was wot happened in church. As a youth in church, he decided to make a financial contribution to d success of dia end of year party and since den, the youth secretary and two oda female excos are all over him. Some have made it a habit for him to drop dem off afta each service. He had to stop going to church with his car in order to avoid such embarassments.

He's a jovial, generous and down-to-earth dude and doesnt know how to be stingy. And dis seems to be working against him now. Once he sends a girl some money she begins to profess love and dat rily pisses him off like hell.

He intends to get married dis year but he's not even in a relationship yet. Pls nairalanders, how can he find true love?
He should try to look for that first honest girl he abandoned on his quest for lasting treasure.

There is no way a mother you failed to take care of will not become a witch. For every minute you failed to take care, you will always see her in your sleep(dream). Adebayor should go and make retribution otherwise I see him disappearing very fast otherwise anytime he tries to score a goal he will be haunted by the image of the woman standing between the post!!!! You are making thousands of pounds a week and your mother is hawking pure water. The moment the African village/society knows they will never assist her for anything again and she will be tormented.

PoliticsRe: Taxi Driver Who Returned N18M Is Not On Honours List by Imagineers: 3:09pm On Sep 11, 2012
This is the fault of National Orientation Agency. The necessary paperwork needed to present him to head of service was never prepared. Somebody was waiting to collect his share of the 30k before the necessary papers will be forwarded.

Do we still need oyibo man to do this for us? Our deficiency in paperwork robs us of many good dividends.

CelebritiesRe: Rihanna Says She Misses Chris Brown On Oprah by Imagineers: 10:53am On Aug 20, 2012
The problem created by our assumed equality will never end until we turn to God.

God never created us equally!! Look at your fingers!!

Westernization is preaching equality that they themselves can not sustain. A woman is decreed to for God-sake respect her husband irrespective of financial status. When you see a man reaching out for his punches, psychologically he wants to claim his self-respect.

Most times when a woman respects the husband, he reciprocates.
FamilyRe: Should I End My Marriage by Imagineers: 10:01am On Aug 20, 2012
My dear Mr Egbuna, yours is not a different story in life. There are several examples of differences in the world, a weak man will run from it, a strong man will manage it.

Seeking divorce is not the solution, of all the various advices posted not even one person cited a personal experience, this is dangerous. I had a similar experience but I had to show love when my wife ran to a white garment church. An adulterous woman is an adulterous woman whether she goes to church or not, a woman can leave the house to fornicate with a pastor, this is very common.

You need your strength now more than ever before you got married. Take your mind away from what is happening to her, pretend as if it never occurred, have a deep sense of forgiveness and you will see the magic work. Her waywardness will be exposed and she will have nowhere to run except you.

Concentrate now on making provisions for your family and spent more time on making more money

PoliticsRe: How Did Lagos Cope Before The Construction Of Third Mainland Bridge by Imagineers: 6:44pm On Jul 12, 2012
The main way of transporting from Ikorodu and Epe in the early days was through the waterways. We need to explore the flourishing ferry business. If proper safety measures are in place, the quickest way to get to Lagos remains via the waterways. There is a lot money spinning in that business: bigger than selling cocaine. We need more competition to force down prices and for government to dredge the Lagos lagoons
