You never to cease to amaze me, Once its Arsenal, u just get it all wrong, don't you?

Was it not Henry that wanted to leave

Oh dear, Never knew a player on contract can just decide to wake up one morning, pack his bags and head for another club, If it was like that, there would be few players on the bench.Henry was on contract at Arsenal, and the club could have prevented him from going to Barca if they wanted to.
Is this point even worth debating?Abeg, which club do you actually know of that forced a player, determined to leave,to forgo his plans?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Iman3(m): 12:41pm On Dec 05, 2007
The key thing is that Henry's present injury stems from a back problem which has nothing do with the achilles tendon injury which plagued him at Arsenal. If Wenger foresaw the back problem, perhaps he should start a Church because he obviously has supernatural powers

I-man, please stop peddling these stupid stories. Are you telling me that if Nigeria attacks and devastates Mali, civil wars will cease in Africa? Please brother stop this, it's shameful to be propagating such theories.
If Nigeria were to list certain W.African countries in an axis of evil unless they stop pursuing certain policies and then proceed to remove the Govt one of the listed countries,do you think its far fetched for a neighbouring country in that list to change its policies?

The essence of this thread is a report released which, inter alia, claims that the reason why Iran adopted a new course in 2003 was its appreciation of the adverse consequences it will face. Why are you now picking and choosing which part of the NIE you want to believe? If you don't believe them, why start the thread?

I-man whether he left or was forced out, u must admit that 16m was a good piece of business for a player who just turned 30 and had past his best, the injuries are now beginning to set in from those demanding years of hard premiership football, lucky he's got a winter break now
When Henry was at Arsenal,Gooners claimed he was one of the best.If that is the case, lets compare him to other great strikers around his age-Shevchenko-£30m,Batistuta(31)-£22m .If Wenger was the prescient genius you claim,he could have recouped a similar amount by selling him leave in 2006

Henry wasnt forced out, neither was he needed as well, believe me, if Arsene wanted him to stay, Henry would have stayed (He wouldn't have been happy staying, but he would have stayed nonetheless).
You are missing the key point-Henry wanted to leave. If he wanted to stay,he would still be at Arsenal today despite all your talk about pro-zones.

Players like Parlour,Bergkamp, and the famous Arsenal back 5 stayed well beyond their years primarily because they didn't want to leave. So,the key reason Henry is at Barca today is because he,Henry, wanted to leave, just like Anelka wanted to leave while in his prime.

Unlike say Anelka, Henry's game is built on speed and positioning. At Arsenal, he just stood still and waited for the rest of the players to do the running for him, then pass him the ball to score, at Barca, he doesn't have that luxury, and has to run as well, orelse no one will pass the ball to him (Also has to track back more than he was doing at Arsenal, these latter periods).
It depends on how Barca play him but I think he can easily change the way he plays with the advancement of age.Players like Owen and Ronaldo(Brazil) did succesfuly change their MO to be based on good positioning instead of mere pace.
Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Nuclear Program Peaceful - United States Intelligence by Iman3(m): 12:04pm On Dec 05, 2007
How would a benighted cretin like RichyBlack educate anybody? grin

Your much acclaimed report claims that Iran halted its nuclear programme, just like Libya, after the Iraq invasion. The report says that Iran did this because of its calculation of the adverse consequences ensuing from continuation. That being the case, the Bush administration has broadly achieved what it set out.

The problem is,you are one of those paranoid frenzied Bush haters who believe Bush is the anti-Christ hell bent on war come what may.Faced with an NIE report which doesn't fit the meme of an administration hell bent on war, your recourse is to claim that the NIE report was released against Bush's wishes. This takes political analysis within the realms of sorcery because an NIE report couldn't be compiled without the White House's approval.

We have moved from claiming that Bush is the evil genius doctoring and editing intelligence reports to Bush is a powerless man who has no say over US intelligence reports. This is a desperate attempt to mould the facts to fit a storyline.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Iman3(m): 11:36am On Dec 05, 2007
Make una dey talk nonsense. Was it not Henry that wanted to leave? If Wenger had sold him in 2006,he would have bagged at least £25m for him.The combo of Walcott and Eduardo has been a waste of money so far.

The story in the Sun is a dud.Henry has a back problem which he has been managing since the beginning of the season but Barca chose to rest him now that Etoo is back.He could still play now if he chose but they think its better if he uses this time to rest.It kind of postpones the selection problem for Rijkaard-how do you start Henry,Ronnie,Etoo and Messi?

I would be extremely reluctant to complain about how my wife spends her money on her siblings, even more so,if its my girlfriend.

I thought the poster was married already. It all comes down to whether you think its right for a partner to determine how the other spends his/her money especially when the relationship hasn't evolved to a fully committed relationship.

Gooners face 2 teams whose managers are under pressure-Newcastle and Boro.It will be interesting to see the outcome.I believe after those 2 game, they have Chelski. Its by the end of the month that Arsenal's title credentials could be full assessed. For now,I'm still unimpressed.

Abgonlahor won't come in cheap,at least £15m and Kenwyne Jones is not Utd quality. If we are looking at cost-effective signing for January, then players like Gudjohnsen,Di Natale might fit the mould.

Long term,we should be looking at Benzema,he is leading scorer in France at the moment and he is a great prospect. He scored at the weekend for Lyon-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq7A6joIZ1o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVbui6NT6io

What do you guys make of our link to Veloso-the S.Lisbon defensive midfielder.Do we need any other person in central midfield? I guess its one for next season. . . .there have been suggestions Carrick might be on his way out of OT.

We need a new left-back to complement Evra.O'Shea won't do for the long term.Johnny Evans is quite good but he hasn't featured much
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Iman3(m): 7:13pm On Dec 04, 2007
@jk

At the moment, its either Anderson and Hargreaves or Scholes and Harg.Carrick has already lost out to Anderson and Harg.I think Anderson should start ahead of Giggs when Scholes returns.

My major worry is Saha.He plays like a saboteur. There is no way Berb would be coming in January,we just don't have the money.Fergie indicated recently that there won't be any signing in the transfer window.

Berb,at £25m, is overpriced anyway. His record at a point was 11 goals in 44 league games, worse than R.keane and same as Dirk Kuyt.Of course he offers a lot generally but he is a bit of a prima donna.

I-man, that is simply not true. You're far from this model of restraint which you have "humbly" assigned to yourslf, that would be Akola or Somze, or maybe Debo and Viera. Not you.

And the rule of the forum clearly says no abuse. It's one thing for people to come on the forum and say my team can't play football. We can discuss that and have fun, but a total regard for other people's feelings is just nasty. You get online and the first thing you get is abuse, abuse for your parents and stuff. That is not entertaining at all.

There have been days when I left the forum knowing full well that if I knew these people personally, I would have given them a thorough beating, a basic lesson in respect for their fellow men.
He even debating my claims! grin If Osama Bin Laden tells you he is a model of tolerance,do you try to reason with him, showing him he is not?

I-man, if you use your church mind, you will know that definitely people must have been reporting your man from time immemorial. The only reason why you're okay with him is because he also supports your team. Like the germans who stood back and watched when Hitler seized power in Nazi Germany, you're equally guilty of your man's many offences.
Have you heard the rule that those who invoke Nazis in a debate, have lost the debate?

I am a model of restraint and politeness on the sports thread. . . .you can bear me witness.I too got reported, but my cup had not overflown with Seun. Why should anybody be reporting anyone just because of cyber insults.I get pilloried everyday by Gooners but I don't go and report them. . . . .why can't gayners exercise restraint?
