We know for certain that the quality of education will suffer significantly in the short to medium term-a 6-10 year period-due to the lack of lecturers.Your claim is that we will reap the benefit in the longer term but that is only speculation. The cost is guaranteed, the benefit isn't.There is little reason to be certain that we will have the same student to lecturer ratio we had prior to the reforms. It is just as likely that many more Nigerians will be deterred by the idea of spending 5 or 6 more years pursuing a PHD leading to a net fall in the amount of lecturers.

The result will be more PHD lecturers, fewer lecturers in general with the resultant lowering of standards. Why must all lecturers in Nigeria have a PHD by 2009 when not even Britain requires same?

Whatever Nigeria's position, the US will have a command set up in Africa. Its always nice to wallow in delusions of grandeur.Reality is much more different. Not even the US could stop the Soviets setting up military bases in their backyard-Cuba.

In the ideal world, the US would have loved to site its base in Nigeria but I doubt they would do so even if Yar'Adua welcomed them.

In so far as citing US bases in other African countries. . . . . .the impotent policy positions of the Nigerian Govt won't stop the US citing its base. There are many African countries eager and willing to host it.The US only needs 1 location
EducationRe: NUC: Lecturers Must Obtain Doctorate Degree By 2009 by Iman3(m): 10:13pm On Dec 14, 2007
One of the criteria for measuring the quality of education is the lecturer to students ratio.Ideally,it should be around 20 students to one lecturer. In Nigeria,we often have about 300 students to 1 lecturer.

If all the lecturers who can't complete their PHD within the next 1 and half-years(is their a 1 and half-year PHD programme?) were to leave, the students to lecturers ratio will even go higher to more absurd levels. In effect,we lower the standards of education in a foolhardy bid to lift it.

Nigeria and Nigerians are notorious for their allergy to pragmatism. The stupidity of this policy is glaring for all to see.

So since you know that Sunday will not really have any bearing on who eventually wins the trophy Undecided, i wait to see your comments if Arsenal do not get a result (Cause you have already given your statement on what you will say, if Arsenal beat Chelsea).
If Arsenal don't win, then we are looking at a side that has won only 3 of its last 8 league games. In that context,it will be right to use that single game as further evidence of what has been said since the beginning of the season-that Arsenal won't win the league.

The single game isn't conclusive on the issue in itself. That is where I questioned your earlier comment.

My Guys, why are you so economical with the truth, why is it that you blame any religious Violence on Islam and Muslims.Haba,it was clearly said in the News that some christian community object to construction of Mosque inside a school in Bauchi.I think a lay man can also testify to the fact that Majority of Bauchi People are Muslim, there is no doubt about that.so,i see no reason why they should be denied to build their place of worship in their home land.Although,2 churches and 2 mosques were burnt, Bros,do u know the i identity of the victim that lost his life, who knows maybe he is a muslim and was shot by all these christian criminals that who hail from south and East.
According to the Daily Sun News,it was Christian community that demolished the Mosque,so,you want muslims to sit down are look eehh?.here is the Link

http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2007/dec/12/national-12-12-2007-003.htm

Read the News Your self and conclude.Your Bible says "SAY THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE" kaena,
Exactly,so in your perveted mind, the natural and inevitable response to the demolition of a place of worship is violence.Which leaves the question, why Muslims protest when they are described as inherently prone to violence.

You seem to ascribe moral equivalence to violence on human beings and the destruction of a building. The latter can always be rebuilt.A building,no matter how sacred, should never be used as excuse for shedding blood

The idea that Bauchi is "Muslim land",thus Muslims can build mosques wherever they wish is lunacy.Surely there are Bauchi indigenes who are non-Muslim.Are you saying that non-Muslims in Bauchi should have no say over where a mosque should be cited?

Its incredible that every time religious violence erupts in the North, many Muslims find a way to blame the non-Muslim minority in the North. One would think that if non-Muslims were as violent as Northern Muslims,we would be constantly innundated with news of spontaneous religious violence in the South, were these "violent non-Muslims" dominate.

Ironical that most of the violence starts in the Muslim North,Muslim land as Luv2talk will tell us,and yet the blame chiefly resides with non-Muslim minority. To the extent that there has been violence in the South,it has always been after, not before, incidents of violence in the Muslim North

All this talk that Gilberto's poor performances vindicates Wenger's decision to pick Flamini ahead of him is silly. It is one of those crude self-fufilling claims.

For instance,if Wenger decides, because of off-field issues,to bench Fabregas in favor of Rosicky, when Cesc returns after months on the bench, chances are he will be playing rubbish.Gullible fans will proclaim,"aha!see? This proves that the decision to bench Cesc was right in the first place"Of course, this proves no such thing other than the damage on the morale or motivation of the benched player in question.

I saw Gilberto captain Brazil against Uruguay in the S.America qualifiers and he was absolutely fantastic. Can Flamini get into that Brazil side?Obviously not!Why would Gilberto be fantastic for Brazil and rubbish for Arsenal?Because Wenger's poor man-management has alienated a quality player to the point where he is no longer in the right frame of mind to play to his best.

If in Gilberto's view,he is being benched not because of his comparatively poorer quality but because of certain off-field issues, then he will rightly feel no need to put in his best. What would be the point? The fact that he is a better footballer than Flamini hasn't affected Wenger's choice for on who starts,so he might as well not bother too much.

Iran has always made the details of its program accessible to the IAEA. However, the West keeps putting pressure on the UN nuclear watch dog to make Iran look bad. Iran has not restricted inspections and have been open about each step of its program. The problem is that the West can't deal with the fact that a nation that is not one of their subjects is bold enough to talk about having a nuclear program, even if for peaceful purposes.
This is where you irritate me.That Iran has not fully complied with its NPT obligations,is a matter which is well known and has been frequently noted by the IAEA.Look at the facility at Natanz. It was only when an opposition group revealed it in 2002,that the world knew it was a nuclear facility.

Why hide things when you have nothing to hide.Iran voluntarily signed the NPT,it has to fully comply with it and not play cat and mouse games with the IAEA

Actually, there are at least two stories in Yoruba mythology regarding Oduduwa and his coming to being:
1. That he came from the east (the direction of Mecca), with some speculating he came from Egypt.
The commonplace claims of origins in the East doesn't,in itself, support the viewpoint that the Yorubas are of Arabic origin. The "East" is a general description and can mean Jews,Persians,Berbers,Kurds,Copts,Maronites,e.t.c-effectively,anyone of hundreds of different ethnic nationalities,so merely claiming you come from the East doesn't make you an Arab.

Arabs took over Egypt in the 7th and 8th century so originating from Egypt won't make you Arab either.

This is an example of your warped logic. If the fact the British intelligence has "misled" the world before undermines their claims, that equally applies to the new claims of the US intelligence services. So neither can be trusted either way.In effect, you believe any intelligence report which says anything that aligns with your world view.

2. Iran has every right to nuclear technology!
3. Mere suspicion can NEVER be grounds to prevent Iran from exercising its right!
Stop being an ignoramus.Iran's NPT obligations require it to enable full and unhindered monitoring of its nuclear projects,an obligation, which even the IAEA,hardly a minion of Bush, asserts that Iran is yet to comply with.Until it does,it will always operate under a cloud of suspicion.

4. Knowledge can NEVER be restricted in the two dimensions that matter - time and space. With time ALL HUMAN KNOWLEDGE will be known, and ALL who seek it will get it!
5. What Baba God could not or did not do, that's what mere humans like some idiotic Americans are trying to accomplish - the restriction of knowledge in time and space from those who seek it.
Your usual windy drivel.

Beyond Gates, the idea that a very successful business man can't lecture, for instance, students on an MBA programme is ludicrous.Effectively, you are saying that in such a case, only academics can lecture even if they have never run a bussiness.

Imagine a Nobel Laurette who never did a postgraduate course, according to you,he can't lecture but some 3rd grade brain who has crammed his way to a PHD can lecture
Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Nuclear Program Peaceful - United States Intelligence by Iman3(m): 11:41pm On Dec 10, 2007
Iran 'hoodwinked' CIA over nuclear plans

British spy chiefs have grave doubts that Iran has mothballed its nuclear weapons programme, as a US intelligence report claimed last week, and believe the CIA has been hoodwinked by Teheran.

Analysts believe that Iranian staff, knowing their phones were tapped, deliberately gave misinformation

The timing of the CIA report has also provoked fury in the British Government, where officials believe it has undermined efforts to impose tough new sanctions on Iran and made an Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities more likely.

The security services in London want concrete evidence to allay concerns that the Islamic state has fed disinformation to the CIA.

The report used new evidence - including human sources, wireless intercepts and evidence from an Iranian defector - to conclude that Teheran suspended the bomb-making side of its nuclear programme in 2003. But British intelligence is concerned that US spy chiefs were so determined to avoid giving President Bush a reason to go to war - as their reports on Saddam Hussein's weapons programmes did in Iraq - that they got it wrong this time.

A senior British official delivered a withering assessment of US intelligence-gathering abilities in the Middle East and revealed that British spies shared the concerns of Israeli defence chiefs that Iran was still pursuing nuclear weapons.

I guess the argument will be that this is just another example of our credentialist culture.I would rather prefer that only people of a certain degree classification-1st class-were allowed to lecture than simply allow only PHD holders.

Of course, not all degree classifications are the same but then, not all PHD programmes are the same.Insisting on a certain quality ensures that only people of certain academic excellence ever get to lecture.

I also think that they should take into consideration,a person's achievement in his professional career. The idea that someone like William Gates would be unqualified to lecture in Nigeria is shocking.

They should be flexible on this issue, allowing Universities autonomy to decide the criteria for who they hire and taking into consideration various factors-degree classification, career achievement and post-graduate qualifications. They shouldn't simply restrict it to PHD holders.

One particular one where a group of young black Muslims in Mauritania were running around cliaiming Arab ancestry while terrorizing their fellow black men made me weep.
These were men blacker than me and claimed their lineage could be traced to Muhammad.
Another salient point concerning Muslim mental enslavement is the fact that the conflict in Darfur is not directly between Arabs and Africans but between Africans and Africans who think they are Arabs. The latter is supported by the Arab Government in Khartoum.

You might think this is odd but I can vividly recall a Yoruba Nairalander telling me a year ago that he doesn't feel a sense of kinship with the Africans in Darfur since he as a Yoruba is actually Arab, claiming that the Yorubas emigrated to their present location from the Arab world!Needless to say that he is a Muslim.
PoliticsRe: Darfur: Shame On Black Great Ones! by Iman3(m): 9:49pm On Dec 10, 2007
There is saying that "Islam is a vehicle for Arab cultural supremacism".It is the deification of Arab cultural practices. The implication is monumental. While Christians may disagree on certain issues, some Christians may or may not be pro-US or pro-Israel,every Muslim reflexively falls in line with Arab interests and objectives. There is no similar diversity of thought in the Muslim community.

The dominance of Arabism in Islam is so pervasive, upon becoming Muslim-you adopt an Arab name, women adopt Arab clothing, you pray to God only in Arabic, you visit the Arab world on pilgrimage, pray to God facing Arabia, you adopt various Arab norms and practices-eventually,there is certain loss of cultural identity in favor of Arabisation.

To be a good Muslim, you must also support Arab causes. Thus, not only does Islam make African Muslims more interested in the plight of Palestinians than the plight of refugees in the DRC Congo,it blinds them to atrocities committed by the Arab world against their race in Darfur,Mauritania or South Sudan.

A classic example was a Nairalander,Denex, who complained that the world should leave Sudan and Darfur alone and claimed that the Arab slave trade was actually benign because there are few "Black Arabs" today when all that it shows,is the comparative brutality of the Arab slave master. The West Indies took in more slaves than the US,but today, there are far more African-Americans than Afro-Carribeans.

This mental enslavement will never stop.We just have to live with it.It is not unique to Black Muslims.
