Back then, such rumors never made it into the media. The fact that this made it into the media gives it some credibility.

Also,it alludes to some new FIFA Directive that was passed recently.Maybe the regulations have changed.

Yesterday saw the Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars of Ghana, triumph over their traditional rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a pulsating 2-1 victory.Down to ten men, after the sending off their Captain John Mensah, the Black Stars managed to grab a late goal prompting wild celebrations throughout Ghana.

The celebrations might be short lived though. This is because reliable sources have informed this newspaper about a shocking development post-match.Routine drug tests carried out post-match on 2 members of the Ghanaian team came out positive.

The 2 players involved remain unnamed but it is rumored one is France based while the other plays for a top 4 club in England. The drug tests, carried out within hours after the match against Nigeria, tested positive for certain prohibited substances including nandrolone and anabolic steroids.

The fallout from this shocking development promises to be dramatic.Until recently, the punishment for such failed tests were restricted to the respective players involved. The players received a ban while their team's results were left unaffected. However, following the new FIFA Directive concluded at the Lausanne Conference in December 2007,cases of failed drug tests will attract punitive measures in respect of the affected team, not just the erring players.

The recommended measure by FIFA is expulsion from the competition. This new but controversial was adopted by FIFA in a bid to adopt a more hardline approach to the perceived plague of doping in sports.

The implications for Ghana, with this new measure, are dire.Ghana faces having its result against Nigeria overturned with Nigeria taking its place at the Semi-Final.The Ghanaians are expected to vigorously protest their innocence but their chances of staying in the competition are very slim say our sources.

Also, our sources tell us that NFA officials are expected to lead a strong delegation to CAF to insist that the letter of the law is followed. There have been threats to take the case to FIFA if CAF keeps dragging its foot due to its unwillingness to throw out the hosts in such manner, however,it has little choice as Nigeria has a watertight case due to FIFA's new Directive.

The CAF is expected to announce its decision this evening after deliberations in an emergency meeting last night. Our sources tell us that they are expected to expel Ghana from the competition and allow Nigeria to replace Ghana in the Semi-Final.If true,it will be the first case of its kind as this measure has never been used before .We will keep you posted of any new information in what promises to be a day of developments of seismic proportions.

oldie:
Like you wrote, we should be pragmatic in our reasonings
We should also lay down the facts as they are
A barrel of oil wouldnt have been $40, 50/40/30 years ago!
So also we were not producing 2mb/day in 1958/1968/1978

This type of statistics does not help our arguments.

My question really, is: what have our leaders done with all the monies allocated to Niger Delta in all these years
We should start asking questions, instead of buck passing
30 years ago,oil was $48 pb in todays dollars.

http://www.inflationdata.com/inflation/Inflation_Rate/Historical_Oil_Prices_Table.asp

Also,I believe in the 70s,we were producing more oil per day than we are doing today.

nuzo:
What are you talking about? Who is Tchad?

If he is leading one of the militant groups in Niger Delta, then don't be fooled, him and his gang are just another set of countless jobless graduates in Nigeria who have decided to take advantage of the outcomes of the long time conspiracy against the Niger Delta (oil for nothing)
grin grin

He is talking about Chad, the country.

What is happening there is very sad.France hasn't adequately stepped in to help Deby's regime survive, other than offering him evacuation.

Yes,his regime is unpopular but I would rather have him than the rebels who are stooges of the Sudanese Govt. The implications of this development is dire for Darfurian refugees in Chad.
RomanceRe: Advantages Of Polygamy? by Iman3(m): 12:46am On Feb 04, 2008
Another advantage of polygamy. . . . .in the UK you can get multiple benefits for your wives:

Husbands with multiple wives have been given the go-ahead to claim extra welfare benefits following a year-long Government review, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal.
# Have your say: Should multiple wives get recognition from the state?

Even though bigamy is a crime in Britain, the decision by ministers means that polygamous marriages can now be recognised formally by the state, so long as the weddings took place in countries where the arrangement is legal.
advertisement

The outcome will chiefly benefit Muslim men with more than one wife, as is permitted under Islamic law. Ministers estimate that up to a thousand polygamous partnerships exist in Britain, although they admit there is no exact record.

The decision has been condemned by the Tories, who accused the Government of offering preferential treatment to a particular group, and of setting a precedent that would lead to demands for further changes in British law.

New guidelines on income support from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) state: "Where there is a valid polygamous marriage the claimant and one spouse will be paid the couple rate , The amount payable for each additional spouse is presently £33.65."

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Ghana: Can We Beat The Host Country? by Iman3(m): 8:10pm On Feb 03, 2008
Mariory:
When a 10 man team brings on wide players to replace their strikers and remove their strongest midfielder to plug a hole in defense, most other managers who have a clue would have brought on another striker and gone compact in midfield (4-4-2) to control the game. Especially when we have a very fast striker in Martins that would have been able to run the tired Ghanian defense off the pitch. angry
We started with 3 strikers-Yakubu,Osaze and Uche-in a 4-3-3 formation which changes to 4-5-1 when we are defending. If he had brought on another striker,we would have had 4 strikers on the pitch.

However,he could have simply changed to a 4-4-2 formation, instead of a 3 man central midfield, and brought on a winger like Utaka and told either Uche or Osaze to play more centrally.

We where beaten by the skills of the Black Stars and the referee all together
The ref? huh Same ref that gave us a penalty and reduced Ghana to 10 men. It is obvious that once Ghana was down to 10 men,he seemed to favor them a bit in any 50-50 decisions, but overall,I thought he was okay.

Good riddance to the Duper Eagles

@dayokanu

Why do always have to let everyone know you are a cretin? Manucho was born in March 1983 and joined s Benfica Luanda in 1999 so unless he started playing professional football before March 1999,he couldn't have been 15+, dickhead.

Besides,he only played 12 times between 1999 and 2002,between the ages of 16 and 19.Any body but a schmuck like you will know that its not the age that you sign your first professional contract that is crucial, but how many professional games a purportedly teenage player gets to play.Breno has managed almost double the pro games in the tougher Brazilian league at the age of 18 than Manucho managed in Angola when he hit 19.

Did you say Breno started at 18?You must be an slowpoke. How did someone who started playing since the beginning of 2007,22 games last year, start at 18 when his passport says he was born in October,1989?

Also, being a glib idiot, you fail to realise that unlike United who paid peanuts,Bayern have paid $18m for an age cheat. If they had picked him up for peanuts, nobody will care.

The management of Real Madrid knew what they were doing, unlike the comical management of FC Hollywood. Here is the Wiki entry for Breno:

In December 2007, had officially signed for Bayern München for the release clause of $18m,signing a 4 and a half year deal with the German side.[1] Apart from Bayern München, Real Madrid and A.C. Milan were also interested in signing the Brazilian youngster.[2] Breno refused to sign with Real Madrid after they wanted a bone analysis to prove his young age.
The old man didn't want to be found out grin grin He even looks older than Ze Roberto who is 33 grin grin grin

SportsRe: Better Player: Christian Obodo or Wilson Oruma? by Iman3(m): 9:43am On Feb 02, 2008
Oruma and Obodo don't even play in the same position. Its like comparing Flamini to Fabregas.Having said that,Obodo seems a far better player than Oruma. Not only is he playing in a better league,he has always been a regular whenever fit unlike Oruma who keeps drifting in and out.

Yahoo has been faltering of recent, shedding 1000 employees,it was inevitable they will be the subject of a take over bid.

Still need to see if the anti-trust agencies will approve of this deal. I wonder what happens to the Yahoo brand,I guess they will keep it.Someone tried matching up Microsoft/Yahoo features:http://www.istartedsomething.com/20080202/microsoft-yahoo-big-mess-comparison/

please, as you said bout giggs and scholes give respect to whom it's due
get your records right before u try to make your point clear
henry average 1 goal per match in his first season at arsenal
and scored 30 in 37 in 2003/2004
another 27 in thirty in 2005/2006
to me those where pretty good records for a converted winger
If Ronaldo's record is 27 goals in 27 appearances;how does 30 in 37 or 27 in 30 equal 1 goal per game? huh huh

So by your reckoning,30 in 37=1 goal per game huh

What is this about not bad for a "converted winger?" How relevant or even logical is it to raise it.So your excuse for Ronaldo's goal scoring record as a winger is that Henry was a "converted striker."
