why? we need the money
What makes you think a takeover will neccessarily bring about a cash infusion? Because of the high cost of a takeover,it will be unlikely Kroenke will have much money to splash once a takeover is completed. In those cases were a takeover led to a cash infusion, you will notice that the cost of acquiring the club wasn't much in the 1st place.Roman first toyed with the idea of buying Utd but was detered by the cost

I don't agree with that
Govt can drive bussiness take off and then allow business men to continue its sustenance.
I think the best way Government can promote bussiness growth is through prioritising its spending. If this kind of Govt spending promotes the economy,Nigeria should be of one the most developed countries in the world.Billions of dollars of Govt spending in the Telecoms sector didn't do much to develop it untill the Govt effectively stopped spending.

The Govt should concentrate its scarce resources on education,health,transport,et.c.There is no evidence that Government involvement in business enterprises help much.Instead, the evidence points in the opposite direction. Our country is littered with failed business schemes invloving the Govt.

Was the Govt one of the investors in Silverbird Galleria or in Shoprite? Govt should have no business in business.

@Tornadoz

What is the reason behind your fascination with neo-Nazis.For a black man,you seem to attach so much credibility to them.

I am sure you know the difference between the policy position of Hamas in 2007 and incendiary comments made by  politicians, mostly 5 decades ago. Both sides are not lacking in making incendiary comments. Its one to thing to make such comments, its quite another to enshrine bigotry in your constitution.

@Afam

You dey here and your friend,Tornadoz, is quoting neo-Nazis. See no evil.

The only difference between the Sir and JM is time, NOTHING ELSE. Not cups, not trophies, not titles, not tactics. Just time that SAF has spent. If JM continues at this rate, he would by far surpass SAF's achievement.
Since you concede that Mourinho hasn't coached for a sufficient time vis a vis Fergie, what's the point of comparisons in the 1st place?Paul Le Guen looked outstanding while at Lyon, however 2 stints at G.Rangers and PSG have put a brake to his rising reputation. We can't start making any valid comparisons untill Mourinho has established a sufficient pedigree over a reasonable amount of time.
SportsRe: Mourinho: The Undisputed Master Of The Mind Games by Iman3(m): 1:58pm On Jun 25, 2007
Mourinho talks a lot of twaddle.Because of his credentials, people invariably think there must be some cunning plan behind every statement he makes when in reality,he has lost the plot.Liverpool players noted that Mourinho's comments before the UCL S/F was all the motivation they needed.

@ somze and razorr,

Of course, Chelsea is not RICH.
Until Chelsea gets a bigger stadium and pay less for players, they will always report a LOSS in their yearly balance report.
It will take Roman about 50 years to break even on the 250 million pounds he has wasted invested in Chelsea.
Lil' wonder the Russian is cutting the slack.
How many merchandises does Chelsea sell as a club compared to Man United?
The club's foundations are built on Roman's filthy lucre. We have had similar situations with Jesus Gil at Athletico Madrid,Sergio Cragnotti at lazio and Jack Walker at Blackburn.Utd foundations are solid and we will still be a big club for decades to come.

Men,these kids got me all worked up.Sometimes we need to tutor them in football history. We dominated England with a team made of mainly youth products and someone is comparing us with the expensively assembled Chelski.

They also forget that Alex won the League 3 times with Aberdeen. If you know anything about Scotland, you will know that its completely dominated by 2 collosal giants-Celtic and Rangers. For Alex to win the League 3 times there, was a major achievement.Since then,no team outisde the Old Firm duo have won the Scottish League. He also won the European Winners Cup,defeating a hugely talented Barca side in the Final.

While they claimed SWP is too expensive at £21m but they say Carrick is okay for £18m [ £3m difference o]
Can you honestly claim that Carrick hasn't made a greater impact than SWP? huh Carrick has shown he is worth every penny spent on him.He is a regular at Utd and contributed immnensely to our title triumph.SWP cannot even win a place in the starting line up and he cost £3 milliion more than Carrick.

For 3/4 years that Madrid never won the league, they failed to tell us how much they spend.

Porto could not win that cup for 17 years before Mourinho, so give me a break. 17 years is a long time
So? huh Porto are still one of the bigger clubs in Europe and a member of the cartel that were interested in starting a European Super League,I believe they are called the G14.You are trying to rubbish Porto, pre-Mourinho to prove a point. With players like Deco,Carvalho,Carlos Alberto,Maniche,McCarthy,e.t.c.Its not surprising they won the UCL especially when you think they made it by beating the likes of Monaco,D La Coruna and a rubbish Utd side then grin

I-man, Jackal

Simple questionS -

1. Did ManU INVEST HUGELY IN PLAYERS WHEN ALEX JOINED? YES OR NO
2. Did ManU immediately gain success after the huge investment? YES or NO
3. Was it not after a series of buys and yes another Eric Cantona for another high fee before the got title success about 6 years later? YES or NO
I believe we are conducting a comparison with Chelsea.Utd were not the biggest spenders ab initio. They didn't have the overwhelming financial dominance that Chelski had when Abramovich came with his filthy lucre. Many other clubs at various occasions outspent them-Blackburn,Newcastle,Liverpool and Leeds.

They didn't gain any immediate success, for one thing, they weren't the biggest spenders. Also, they they were in the relegation battle when Fergie came on board and were not one of the dominant clubs then.Their situation can be compared to West Ham's situation now.

To compare Utd of 1986 to Chelski of 2004 is ridiculous, verging on the stupid

First Alex has more than 20 years under his belt (1986 - 2007) for ManU.
He signed a host of high profile players like - Steve Bruce, Viv Anderson, Brian McClair and Jim Leighton. Mark Hughes also returned in due time. Neil Webb and Paul Ince also came in, Gary Pallister also joined for a UK record fee of £2.3m. Still no trophies until 1990 which was an FA Cup. It was only after signing Cantona for about £1.2m that he had his first title in 1992. These were huge amounts back then.
When Alex joined Utd,Utd where in a relegation battle, hadn't won the league for 2 decades and in between, were once demoted. He took the team from relegation to perenial title contenders. There are simply no parralels btw Utd of 1986 and Roman Abramovich's Chelsea of 2004

Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital when a middle age young man male’s organ disappeared in a fast food restaurant located along the Trans- Amadi industrial area.

The sad incident took place Thursday evening at about 4.30pm as the victim was waiting for a taxi before a lady approached him and had a touch on his body before his male organ got missing.

The disappearance of the organ which attracted passers-by along the busy Trans-Amadi Industrial layout as an angry mob descended on the lady who was in her early 30’s and gave her a thorough beating before she confessed that she was sent by unknown agent.

The victim who was immediately arrested by the police and taken to a police station at Elekahia failed to disclose her particulars as she kept silent, watching at the crowd.

The lady who is fair in complexion appeared to be a spinster as she was on a jeans trouser and looked serious while committing the act just as the man declined not having any knowledge of her before the incident.

The man who is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state capital also refused making his real names public.

Saturday Champion reports that the missing manhood attracted a crowd with the residents of the area expressing surprise at the ugly incident just as young men present at the scene of the incident constantly held their male organ for fear of similar incident.

Our correspondent reports that the incident took place as people were trekking distances to their homes as a result of the strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) entered the second day.

Contacted on the incident for comments, the state Director of State Security Services (SSS), Alhaji Kolawale Adesina said he was not aware of the incident.

The SSS director said he was in Akwa-Ibom state for an official assignment and could not comment on the sad issue, just as the officials of the Rivers State Police command refused responding to calls as their cell- phones were programmed to voice mail.

Let them continue.
Their problem is defence and goalkeeper nothing else.
They are definitely looking to strenghten their defence. They have been linked with CHRISTIAN CHIVU.I heard also that they intend to be playing with 2 holding midfielders in front of the back 4.

Forget Ronaldinho,Messi,Henry and Etoo. The person you should be looking out for next season is the Mexican prodigy, GIOVANNI DOS SANTOS.

He may be promoted to first team place next season-http://goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=320806.Believe me,he is a bigger prospect than Messi!

BTW, whats the latest on Deco
Won't be surprised if they sell him.Even Xavi will be struggling to get a starting place and between Deco and Xavi,I'm sure Barca will rather sell Deco.

I thought I piss off Gunners with this article. grin Henry still insists he will remain a Gunner for life grin GUNNERFORLIFE

Thierry Henry admits he will miss Arsenal and claims he will be a 'Gunner for life' despite his impending departure.
The London club's record goalscorer is on the brink of completing a reported £16million move to Barcelona.
Henry is due in Catalonia to finalise terms today and is expected to be unveiled tomorrow, but he claims he leaves with a heavy heart.
'Arsenal will always be in my blood and in my heart and I will always remember you guys,' the 29-year-old told Arsenal TV.
'I said I was going to be a Gunner for life and I didn't lie because once you are a Gunner you will always a Gunner. The club is in my heart and will remain in my heart forever.
'I am going to miss everybody. It's going to be a huge miss. I will become now an Arsenal fan and look always for the result.

I still think we need Smudger(Smith).
Not a good move
For £6 million,I think we should sell him.Smith is not good enough for a starting place,so his only use would be coming off the bench. However, his poor finishing nullifies his value. If the team is struggling to score goals,is Smith the person who can be introduced from the bench to get the goals ?We used to have the Soljkaers and Sheringhams who could come off the bench and score goals.Smith isn't that type of player

His main value was as a utility player and his tireless workrate but with the current midfield,we don't need him anymore.

It will be sad to see him go,but the price offered is irresistible. That's more than half of what we got for Ruud
