I intend buying Emirate ticket 2 Texas as well. Since i decide going 2 Texas (2nd host), I filled Texas & Nigeria as 1st & 2nd billing addresses 4 my GC application form. Even as New York (1st host) address is on my Visa, will dis bring any issue?

Nope... It's not an issue... U only need to change ur host's address @ ur POE cuz d address is where ur green card and other document are gonna be mailed to. Hope this helps.

loconzo00: My wife just put to bed few weeks after arrival.
She just reported at a nearby hospital. She was asked normal health questions concerning her pregnancy.
She was asked to bring her SSN and Passport so she can apply for medicaid to take care of delivery and children before i start working.

This is in New Jersey, it might be different in your state but you can take a clue here.

seal777: You must have stayed 21 days to register for SSN in houston, after which you will receive same in less than two weeks but some got theirs in less than 7 days.


I register for mine at social security office at 10405 stancliff road, 77045 houston. ........goggle searc and get numbers to call.

temmytanny: you need to visit their website and locate the one close to your area,from there you can determine the time they open and close.Mind you some have closed finally due to recession.So try to call the fone number of the one close to you to see if they are still in service.I think your host should help you sort this out,they have better ideas.My host took me to 4 diff ones in arlington,grand prairie and southlake then and only one was closed finally.You can use google map or bing map to locate teh one closest to you.

temmytanny: you need to go to SSN office to register for SSN and it will mailed to you in less 10days.Without SSN,you maynt get free medical for your wife.

ok, thanks... How soon can we visit the SSN office for registration? I was there around 2pm yesterday but discovered they close by 12pm on wednesdays. Once again thanks.

seal777: Check on ur visa, it starts with A0...........also check it on the slip for 165 dollar payment given to you at the embassy, Social security in houston area is after 21 days before you can apply, while state id and drivers license / learners permit is after 30 days.

I'm in Texas and Houston to be precise. Adesoji pls help me out on this. My host says without d social security number, she won't be able to register for free medical care. I want to know how true this is and if it's true, how soon do we expect our SSN? Are we getting it in thru post or we need to go to their office to register? The stamp on your passport at POE represent your green card for one year, I dont think WIC requires SSN. noncitizens can get WIC. All noncitizens, including undocumented noncitizens, who meet the eligibility requirements can get WIC benefits.

No one from WIC will ask about your immigration status. Getting WIC benefits will not make you a public charge and will not hurt your chances of becoming a legal permanent resident

My host is telling me a diff. thing about WIC though it seems he's not dat informed about WIC cuz he has been in US for more fan two decades now and has since stopped having kids. Another thing i need to know is this. I was given two forms wen we were in d flight to fill and dat it will be collected from us @ port of entry but to my suprise, only one form was collected from us. D form i94 or so was not collected. Just want to know if that's how it should be. Another form- US CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION COMMENT CARD was also given @ port of entry. Is it required that i submit it or what is it usefulness? You will still need your SSN to apply for job because without that you cant do any legal work,you can google the office of the homeland security administration in your area to apply, but make sure you go with your Naija passport and Birth certificate, your wife may visit WIC(woman, Infant and Children center close to your location for any assistance,without a driver's licence you are not authorized to drive so make sure you study the driver's manual and pass.

Hi fellow forumites, while expecting my documents thru mail, i went to d driver's license office yesterday to pick up a copy of TEXAS DRIVER'S HANDBOOK and already reading and preparing myself for d test when my documents are out. My inquiries are as follows. (1) Do i need to visit d any office for my SSN or should i just wait to get it in my mail? (2) Can i begin to apply for jobs now or stil wait for d document? (3) My wife is pregnant and is due in June. Can she go to register herself now for good pregnancy and delivery care or she should also wait for her documents too? If she can go now, where do u guys advice she visit and what are d requirements? (4) what is d cost of buying a car here cuz i'm begining to see dat i'll need it pretty soon though not d very expensive ones ooo, at least something to take me from one place to another. (5) My host is always too busy and i gat to step up myself without relying much on him and since i gat u guys here, i'm sure i'll av no problem. As a result, is any member staying close to KEEGANS FOREST LANE IN HOUSTON? We may hook up if there's any cuz dat's where i reside.

Our flight was scheduled to take off by 8:50pm but took of by 10:30pm cuz d air conditioning unit was not working well and had to be fixed. It was 7hrs journey to Dubai so we arrived Dubai by 8:30am local time on friday 19/04. We missed our connecting flight cuz of d delay in naija and our visas were stamped on transit while our appointment was scheduled for d next day since EMIRATES only fly from Dubai to Houston once in a day. EMIRATES also offered us free transportation, free hotel accommodation, free phone call and meal tickets @MILLENIUM HOTEL- a world class hotel in Dubai. We left Dubai by 9:05 local time on saturday, 20/04 and arrived Houston by 4:30 local time on saturday, 20/04. We went thru all necessary security checks and was was admitted into d US of A. Thanks be to ALMIGHTY GOD and to all of u cuz without u, this great dream of ours wouldn't av been a reality.
