megaprofessor: fellow forum mates kindly advice me.
I was selected for further consideration in the DV2013 for a second time after I was denied visa in the DV2005 because I did not include my middle name in the original entry while I had done so in the DSP form. the case was the a friend entered it for me however i had claimed in the interview that I did it my self ignorantly.
the major problem is not that. the major problem is that in 2005 I had wanted to pursue the process with my then fiance so we entered the DSP for as married. shortly after we went out separate ways and did not go to the interview together. I had written KCC that we will not be able to make it together because of domestic issues and KCC replied and asked me to explain to the CO. on the interview day i told the CO that we has problems hence we are not together but he disqualified me on the account of a middle name which appeared in the DSP form.
My problem is now I won again this time i entered single. my fear will they cross examine me based on the former married status which i think is still in their data base. House what are my chances and what should I do?
Thanks for the advice.
it will be counter productive to go for a divorce certificate now because i had stated Nerer Married in the EDV form.
my guess is to explin to the CO that in 2005 we had had attemted getting married but since my fiance had customary marriage with someone in the past our marriage bacame invalid. I want to also rely on the fact that I had written KCC in 2005 telling them befor the interview that I and mz wife would not be able to attend the interview ortravel together bcause there were issues in the relationship to which thez adviced me to tell the CO. I also told the CO but I would not know what he recorded. I was onlz disqualified because the original form did not have my middle name on it. that he told me bluntly.
I was wondering if a notary public would have been necessary.
House kindly advice
Thanks I am really confused My advice as regards ur case- To my understanding, u're disturbed cuz of ur marital status that was married in 2005 but single now. Since u attended d interview alone and also wrote KCC to tell them d lady in question was ur fiance and not wife and KCC replied telling u to explain to d CO, i'll advice u to stick to ur single status now but make sure u av a hard copy(printed copy of d mail u sent to KCC in 2005 and also the reply as a proof during the interview). Then this time tell the CO that u and ur former fiance had already done introduction then(before u entered for d dv lottery in 2005) and was hoping to be legally(court marriage) married in two months after the introduction ceremony before the break up came(also make sure u av a genuine reason 4 d break up). Also tell d CO dat in ur tradition, once the two families meet one another @ introduction ceremony where d intention of the man is made known and d wife's family accepts his request(and d legal marriage date is picked), then the couples are considered to be potential husband and wife and that d reason u entered as married then was dat d introduction has been done, d wedding date picked before d issue dat led to d break up came up. THIS IS MY OWN PIECE OF ADVICE BUT I STAND TO BE CORRECTED OOOO. |

ojisalara: Good Evening every member in the house, I give thanks to almighty God and all the members of this house who have been of tremendous help to me, you guys are the bomb expecially to @gunners, @amcool who gave me a call after my interviews today, @gentiger @chirpywest who is current on this way to LA, @widelink and everyone my interviews was schedule for 10 am today but I had to leave where I stayed around 5:30am and got to the embassy some minutes pass 6am, I bought a chair for 100 Naira and waited patiently for 9:30am when I joined the queue for 10am appointment, went inside the embassy , asked about how to make payment, took some time to do that but was finally called to make the payment after 30minutes then I proceeded to the front row so I can be able to listen to some of the interviews and it was interesting but the more I listen, the more my confidence grow that I'm certainly getting my VISA today.. there was only three windows open for immigrant today..window 13,14,15, I also noticed that window 14 was a calmness among them today, He even gave a guy a VISA with only two questions CO: are you Mr. bla Bla, the guy said yes, CO: asked him what course he did in the University Guy: electrical electronics at Nasarawa State polytechnic : CO; told the guy congrats and was like praying that I should be interview by him but on a second thought I was ready for anyone they bring and was praying inside me that the Lord should give me the CO that will grant me my VISA ..to cut the story .my interview goes this way Me:Good Morning Co:how are you doing Me: I'm doing great and wonderful CO: Are u Mr. bla Bla Bla ME: Yes I am CO: congrats for winning the Visa lottery Me: Thanks ME:took Finger prints CO: do you swear to tell the truth during your interviews today ME: absolutely I do CO:told me to pick the phone so our conversation won't be public and was smiling ME; I did CO: I see you are from Enugu and was looking at my document ME: Yes and I realize he was looking at my degree Cert CO: what did you do after Service ME: told him I was at home for some months before I got a job CO: how long have you been working ME:told him since December 2010 CO: I see you are an Engineer ME: yes, I work with bla bla company at Port-harcourt CO: your work in the platform? ME:yes at the platform and on land rigs CO: what you project topic ME: PLC's CO: said wow PLC's , you can do that ME: said yes and continue to explain my project to him, what PLC was all about Co: was busy typing and brought two white sheet, circle one one and told me to excuse him for a minute Me: ok Co: that the interviews was a success and ask me to pick up my VISA as from Monday in the circle address and told me I should read instructions on how to pay for Green Card before I travel to State
Note; they were denials today but I realized that most of them were not inform and some very annoying cases where someone can't express himself, couldn't even get one question the CO ask, kept on asking the CO, what did you say ..it was annoying because he blocked a space for some people Congrat to u once again. May ur testimony be permanent by God's grace. Amen. |

Petsal: The fellow was born in Ilorin, kwara state but he's thinking of obtaining his birth certificate from NPC here in lagos cos he resides in lagos state. How about that pls? In my own opinion, he should obtain it from the state he claims to be his place of birth... I'm must also confess dat i don't av much experience as regards this question cuz i reside in d state where i was given birth to and i obtained mine in d same state so further inquiry from other gurus might be more helpful. |
Travel › Re: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Imcool(m): 6:47pm On Mar 10, 2013 |
Petsal: Another one here: pls, how much will its cost if one is to do birth certificate with the NPC(National Population Census) and how many days will it require to get it? The reason for the Question is someone is slated for interview and he did have his birth certificate but its like ppl are saying its better he get the NPC doc also to be on a safer side. Thanks Yes it's better to get the NPC birth certificate cuz we don't know the one he/she has wit him/her. The birth certificate(long form) given @ birth can be used but it's better not to take any avoidable risk by not getting the NPC birth certificate. The price is determined by the state where the person is getting it from. In my own state(Ondo), it's 2,500 naira, the price is more in some states. Maybe u'll tell us the state where d NPC birth certificate is to be obtained so dat gurus from dat state will help u out. |

Petsal: Happy Sunday @all and happy mother's day. Pls ppl in the house, I have question. A friend is asking about issue regarding petitioner. He said when he sent his forms to KCC, he used himself as his own petitioner although he also said he knows someone in US in one of the form. He's been slated for interview for April now. He wants to know if they use to ask question abt petitioner or no petitioner. Thanks Dv lottery is self petitioned. By saying self petitioned, i mean as regards dv lottery, a petitioner is the principal applicant. The only place where one specifies dat he/she has a relative in the US is where one indicates the name and address of his/her host and the purpose of this is to av an address where one's green card will be sent to in the US. Questions can be asked about the relationship between the the host and and the applicants or where the host works in the US. Question are not always asked about the 'petitioner' rather questions are asked about the applicants since they are available @ the interview but in a sense, it also means the same as asking questions about d petitioner(principal applicant) |

sina_adegoke: Hi house. Just came back from my visa interview. I know this is arguable, but thanks to God, it should be the shortest interview ever.
It went like this; Interviewer: Hi Me: Hi. Nice tie Interviewer: (Blushes, looks at his tie, smiles widely, then looks at me): Thanks. Interviewer: Are you Adegoke? Me: Yes, Adegoke Adesina Interviewer: Which school did u finish from? Me: OAU, Ile Ife Interviewer: When did u graduate? ME: 1999 Interviewer:Which course did u study? Me: Engineering Physics Interviewer: How come you're in banking? Me: Nigerian banks take graduates from all fields. You get trained on the job. So.... Interviewer: I was an Engineer too, and I found myself here, so I understand u Me: You don't say Interviewer: Yeah Me: Where u begin and where u end are two different things
He kept smiling all the way, almost whistling when he brought out the forms, congratulated me, & told me my visa has been approved.
My tip for those awaiting the interview is.... Follow the instructions on the website thoroughly, & be very nice & civil. It can shorten ur interview considerably.
But more importantly, be confident in God. When it's ur time to change location, then it's ur time, hopefully for d best.
I am now officially a Yankee.
Meet u guys on the other side! Congrat bro and welcome to the US of A. |
