FxHouse: It is important to note that everything being fixed now (and more), was already addressed by radautoworks, except that the op failed to provide parts to address these issues, and even the ones he provided weren't durable and they were gotten from the person fuelling these whole drama.
In order to show that these whole charade is geared towards bringing down a HARDWORKING and REPUTABLE individual for reasons best known to everyone involved, I'd want for nairalanders to follow without bias
.
1. In over 3 years (and counting) there has never been any thread about doing anything bad to anyone, finally there is one (which was the intention from the very beginning) and all of a sudden, "raduautoworks do not know what they are doing?"
Meanwhile, the op's superarrow (of destruction), that radautoworks is being compared with, has had several complaints over the years that got swept under the rug. Even if radautoworks messed up, why all the hate from different angles and sides, some even go as far as spewing their hatred by commenting with more than one moniker, creating new ones.
2. The op only chose to focus on the negative and hammer on it like every other thing was not done right, but there were other jobs that were done perfectly, part of which includes;
(i) Engine tune-up: a combination of services (ii) Remove and replace steering rack, pinion assembly and tie rod (iii) Remove and replace control arms (both) (iv) Remove and replace rear axle (v) Remove and replace front CV axle (vi) Remove and replace oil sump (vii) Materials required
3. The op got another free repair that amounted to N119,432 due to him providing some wrong parts gotten from yours truly.
Finally, I'd also like for you to please list out the cost of repairs (even though you're doing it for free).
@radautoworks, please keep up the good work you've been known for over the years, we understand their pain. Their envy and hate should not be a cog in your wheel of success, keep spinning, you'd crush them like you always do. Keep winning ma'am, a lot of us recognize your hard-work and trust me, we dey your back. kampe, we stand for you gidigba.
If I were Anty Radu, in all honesty, I go dey patronize Gazzuzz if dem bring this kind work wey pass almighty ASE certified Glen power. I go just use dark as a cover, drive the car to Gazzuzz house, go on all knees beg am mek e run am for me sharp sharp so that tomorrow I'll keep claiming I'm an American trained auto repairer
GAZZUZZ: I love challenges , I took up this job not because of the monetary gains or fame, but to prove a point that it can be done.
The last issues left to be completed on this vehicle were the VTEC system and smoke at startup.
We had a plan which we tried to follow but unfortunately didn't go with it because parts arrived at different times so we had to do other jobs.
How we solved the VTEC code.
In my last update I said I was going to check the electrical connections , it turned out they were fine.
So I took out the VTEC assembly again, I had an old assy lying around in the shop Soni took it apart and started testing all components , also did a pressure test on the switch attached to the assy.
When I was sure it was all fine I began putting it together but for some reason I looked at the original one that came out of the car (came with engine From day 1) and noticed a something was missing in the old part.
I always wondered why previous technician was unable to solve the oil pressure light issue, well there you have it, oil was unable to build up pressure because the valve which is suppose to control the vtec lifters was not there at all.
I have installed the part which i refurbished tested and cleaned up,
Started the car and there are no codes on the dashboard .
Usually the oil pressure warning light would come up at idle after reaching operating temperature, but that no longer happens.
Oil pressure warning is solved , VTech codes gone for good.
Installing spacers was becoming a Herculean task with manifolds still attached to the engine., So we decided to bring them down.
With the catalytic converter down we noticed catalytic converter material in the sensor 1 areas of both manifolds.
Further inspections reveals a disintegration of the catalytic converter. It's a good thing we caught it this early , would have been fatal to the engine and work being done.
We will gut both banks out and keep the contents for the client when he comes to pick up.
The O2 sensors have been literarily glued to the manifolds and would not unscrew without a little persuasion.
Now I am really worried about the state of health for that engine. The catalyst element has already started disintegrating. I was wondering, does this engine have EGR? If yes then engine may have to be dismantled ( or a scope used) to inspect the cylinder walls. I would have said intake valves too but thank God there is no engine misfire.
He should be prepared for a higher exhaust note( growl).. If the client was Heavenlybang I would have said you have answered his prayers
P.S. The heat applied to remove the oxygen sensors may end up ruining them. Prepare for a replacement.
Kelvin30286063: After I bought my own personal scanner some months ago, I noticed that I have this error codes after scanning the car.
P0135 - O2 sensor heater circuit bank 1 Sensor 1 P0155 - O2 sensor heater circuit bank 2 Sensor 1 P0498 - Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Control Circuit Low P2185 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit High
Luckily the scanner has a little explano details of how to fix each error that came up but to my surprise, for the first 2 codes related to O2 sensors, I changed my O2 sensors for the mentioned banks and the error still didn't go away.
I don't even have any idea how to fix the last 2 errors. And my kazeem is terrible at reading error codes.
I should point out that the car gives no issues when driving apart from the smell of burnt fuel in the morning on cold start and a little stall sometimes when driving but I know from experience that even if the issue with your car has no effect at first, it's only a matter of time... Personally I would have prefer to visit any of the well know automechs on this forum but they are either in Lagos or Abuja and that's far from Ondo state.
You need to troubleshoot the wiring to those sensors.
You either have an open circuit or a short in the wiring.
Not an easy task you you may require the Vehicle repair manual.
Engrjamjam: Glen is radautoworks baby Daddy. Olosho dey smell. You did Olosho in United States it's not enough for ya imagine.
If you know the family that this woman comes from, you will not be saying this.
That she broke out of such illustrious and affluent family to carve a niche for herself in a field dominated by men is highly admirable. Yes she messed up this deal, but bringing her to this level of dirt is disgusting to say the least.
Let us stop the mudslinging and address this matter with tact and maturity. The most important thing here is that the OP's car issues are resolved and she learns her lessons on how not to mess up deals like this.
Maturity and commonsense demand that we know when and where to draw the line. This should be a professional discourse and her personal life should not be dragged into it.
This same person had an es350 with a bad gearbox and he hurriedly sold it.
If selling it will give you more peace then its your choice to make.
I was graciously given the offer to even replace the gearbox( for cheap), with the only significant cost coming from transporting back to Lagos. I sold because over a short while i got bored with the car( It was/ is everywhere!). It was majorly an emotional decision
So i had both choices. I am only suggesting to OP from a logical standpoint. Selling the car is also logical. Whether he listens to me or not is left to him.
adanny01: Madam, changing an engine is a choice and it is not yours to make.
What if that OEM valve stem seals you suggest plus labour and other materials cost ¾ of the cost of an engine replacement? What if he just wants to kill all the birds with one stone and he can afford to? After all that initial 1.3m could get a sound engine eliminating all the seals, the oil pump, sump and everything about the engine that you have so far done without success.
You stock valve stem seals if I am not mistaking but you don't stock tokumbo engines, isn't it obvious why you are against an engine replacement. Before you fixed his car initially, you were supposed to do a comparative cost analysis if he doesn't know what to do but you led him in a perilous path.
Note that everything you've done on that engine so far was throwing money in a shredder as long as the problem was still there.
Your clients do have opinions that could differ from yours so learn to be a little flexible. Also look at the economic aspect of whatever solution you provide.
Your blaming third party parts is just saving face.
Please say less from now on
Spoke like a true Engineer. From a fellow Engineer.
Radautoworks, i think its time you spoke less and less on this matter. It is not helping the issue at hand to say the least.

gwealthjnr: So I’m updating this thread as I’m contemplating selling off the car instead. Here are a few pictures of the car. It was bought in October last year. As stated in topic, the only problem is the gearbox
Name your price....
Chai ... this is painful.
OP see if you can bring the ride to lagos and meet some tech gurus here.
I would also advise replace, but at least with some degree of certainty.
Selling this clean car is not the best bro( cars are really expensive these days).
At least with 300-500k this car would be fixed for good.
DMechy: Like gazuzz advised, replace transmission and save yourself the headache.
40% of the time, transmission repair ends with spanners flying around and someone getting locked up.
It is doable, can you be patient enough with the repair guy to change another sets of fiber or valve body that will make the vehicle sharper than it was from the last repair. Or will you be able to accept that the transmission is better off than you brought it. At least e dey reach gear 3, na 4 and 5 e no select. Before, only gear 1 dey select. So oga drive am, it will improve, the oil needs to circulate.
