Like I once posted not to long ago we are in a downtime now in the market. This period will be well spent developing ourselves so we are better prepared when the market reverses. And we should all join hands to help each other to do this.

This is a better use of this forum than the stone throwing, veiled insults, acrimony etc that we are experiencing these days.

My humble opinion.

Kudos to all those who are always willing and ready to answer questions and educate other members.

I have another book by the same organisation which covers Technical Analysis. It covers the basics though when you finish you won't be as good as our gurus BBM and fxuser but it gives you a good foundation you can build on. If you are interested in this one shoot me a mail and I will send it.

After reading it you can now follow up with "Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques" by Steve Nison which I am currently reading. It's a very good book and you can download it on pdfdrive dot com.

I am wondering why anyone will be interested in a company that cannot account for the 'talent' given it tongue

Trading vs Investing

Different approaches, different parameters, different objectives.

To each his own.

Please I need help
I think need some explanation.
I’ve noticed people are always buying and selling stocks at prices that are far less than the quoted price .
I really don’t understand why they are doing that angry
And again , how do you people analyse the results? I always get headache when trying to check those things . Figures everywhere.

I have a good book that will provide you with a good foundation in analysing company results which you can build upon as you read further.

It's written in such a way that anybody even if you have never seen a financial report in your life can not only read and understand but begin to do routine analysis of financial reports.

If you are interested just shoot me an email and I will forward it to you free.

Please does anyone know how I could trade on the South African and other African exchanges. Thanks

For SA just google South African stockbrokers who have online trading platforms and check out their account opening requirements. Most of them allow foreigners / non residents to open accounts with them. But I must warn you, unlike here over there they have all manner of fees and account charges you have to contend with.

Thanks, Infinitisi.

Please, do you perchance know what their charges on trades are?

Well I know it's graduated. Higher volumes will get you lower charges. But I think from 30k or thereabouts and upwards you get 0.75%.

You can call or email their customer service department

Please, can anyone here recommend any other Stockbroking firm other than MorganCapital?
Those guys are just too unprofessional for me to deal.

Lead Capital

1. Customer service is very responsive

2. There desktop trading application is on point.

Please FA buffs here. Is there a website where I can get regularly updated ttm (trailing twelve months) eps of quoted companies on the NSE. The one on Nairametrics was last updated August 2017.

Please must I visit the office of the Registrars to submit the e-mandate form?

You could try your bank or your stockbroker

As more and more of us are getting out of the market to wait for when to get in again, this would be a good time for some of us to brush up on our analytical skills whether you are a TA or FA faithful.

At least you don't have the additional stress of watching your portfolio with one eye. When the market turns around as it will one day, you would be better prepared.

I'm sure our gurus from both sides of the divide can recommend books, websites and other resources to help us do that.

Just my thoughts

Interesting case. Those of us who witnessed the 2008 Armageddon on the NSE will understand.

Thanks a great deal. I hope it is going to be a smooth process since I already have a CSCS account or will it be an entirely new registration/account opening process if I decided to choose any of these firms and "dump" the current one.

It's a smooth process don't worry. Whichever firm you choose just fill out their form online, upload your kyc documents and you are good to go.

Since you already have a cscs account just provide them with your CHN.

Hello all. I have an account with a stockbroking firm known as Solid Rock Securities and Investment Limited, with some stocks which I bought about 10 years ago. I have not been an active participant since then but would love to return to investing in stocks this month. Do you think I should continue investing through this company or move to another one? Looking forward to your responses. Thank you.

My personal opinion is you open an account with a stockbroker who has an online trading platform so you can place your buy or sell orders yourself from your computer or smart device. There are several of them available now e.g

Morgan Capital
Lead Capital
ARM Securities
Meristem
Investment One
CSL
Greenwich
Etc

They allowed account opening online so you don't even have to visit their office.

All the best
