Forensic audit: SEC sacks, bars Oando CEO, deputy for 5yrs

Uche Usim, Abuja

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has finally concluded forensic investigations of Oando Plc over underhand dealings and directed among others the resignation of the affected board members.

The Commission also barred the company’s Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mr Wale Tinubu and his Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (DGCEO), Omamofe Boyo from being directors of public companies for a period of five years.
They should be barred for life and prosecuted.

This is where I really miss Fxuser and BBM. Would love to know what indicator or strategy to use to study the index chart right now. There has to be a way to discount the distortion to the index by the combined weight of MTNN and Dangote Cement.

The increase in the ASI is in no way correlated to the reality on the floor.

Oh boy it was an interesting experience.

Na so one of them come meet me, said; sorry i didnt win the vote, but i should buy him recharge card, and whenever i want to run again, he will help me organise people to vote for me at a fee. He also said he came from Ondo for the AGMs. So basically, it has turn to some Inec vote buying thing.
shocked shocked shocked

I agree with you on the gift sharing. That is why company management can get away with anything because nobody is going to grill them during AGMs. Most of those there dey eye gift pack.

Stop reading a report with a bottle of 33 on one hand!

43,792 you see is for 6 months and not 3 months. That was the half year result for 2018. To get the Q2 2018, just subtract Q1 2018( i.e N23b) from the N43.793b. This should give you around N20b as the second quarter 2018 PAT

Deadlytruth:
By the time MTN, with its 20bn units as said, hits N200 it will become the most capitalized company on NSE with DANGCEM coming a close second position. The level of index distortion these two stocks will wreck on NSE is better imagined especially on days they both gain or both lose.
Word. Dangote Cement and MTN will need to be factored out when trying to get the true picture of the index.

Really don't know why a word of caution or a contrary opinion is now seen as discouragement.

Is this not an investment forum again where there will always be people for and against with valid reasons on both sides.

People need to grow thick skins.

Kagame:
FBNH has like another 3-4 yrs before it fully recovers.Normally,if you are an SIB and your NPL is above 5% upwards to alarming levels,CBN will invite you to present a 4yr remediation plan which I think FBNH did in 2015.

As you rightly pointed out ,the books will improve this year but that’s just halfway through the journey. This year,FBNH will likely write off over N300bn from their loan books due to Atlantic energy. For proper context, FBNH has made total NPL provisions of over 500bn since 2015 but yet, this huge amount only gives just over 80% (about 70,if you use IFRS 9) coverage ratio, this is really unprecedented in the history of Nigerian banking industry, smaller banks would not survive this ~ the rot is really deep.
Nice one bro. Hope you will pop in more often drop more of these kind of insightful analysis. We need to deepen the discourse here.

Are you by any chance a broker or investment analyst?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Infinitisi(m): 12:10pm On May 11, 2019
There are several stockbrokers now offering online platforms to trade. Some are:

Morgan Capital
Meristem
Lead Capital
ARM Securities
Investment One

Just visit their websites and look through their services and choose. Morgan Capital has the lowest brokerage commission though.

Good day house.

Please can I get introduced to a stockbroker? The last one I worked with was in Ibadan 12 - 13 years ago as a student investor. I don't have his contact number again.

Thank you.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Infinitisi(m): 6:11pm On Apr 08, 2019
With ARM MMF you can withdraw anytime. There is no minimum period before you can withdraw.

yMcy56:
I know, but not for someone who newly registered.
The bros/sis does not have existing account, if he/she has, it would have been a good choice. Two months with such amount would fetch him something significant at least.
For a new client, you cant withdraw your money for the first 90days unless you want to forfeit your interest cos you'll be parting with some fees and charges...... well, except some of the rules already changed now. E don tey wey I read update on it last.

RabbiDoracle:
I didn't know you were an investor. Nice one bro.

Most people don't understand how this game works. You just summarized it.

For those who don't know, if he bought at 24 for example and he got N2.5 in 2017 year end, got interim (N0.25) for 2018 and now getting N2.5 again for 2018 year end, this shows that he has collected N5.25. when you less 10% WHT, his final amount collected so far from the bank is N4.725.

This shows that gradually his purchase price of the stock is gradually falling from N24 to ~N19.3. this has given him rest of mind and it has also saved him brokerage fees by jumping in and out of stocks.

If stock market remains irrational longer than he remains solvent, say in the next 3 years, he will keep collecting N2.475 (if you take 10% WHT out of N2.75 yearly dividends). In that next 3 years, this man should have got additional N7.425 as dividends. Net this amount from the N19.3 net purchase of his stock, you will have a final value of N11.875

If he decides to sell at N24, you may say he is losing because he bought at N24 and selling at N24. But he has got so much from dividends. If he sells above, he has made more profits.

So bro, you are on the right track. Keep it up.

But once there is madness of the herd in bidding prices too high, you sell off and move on.

Right now if i invest 10million into T-BILL for 91days tenor. what will be my gain? Thanks.
((91÷365)x10%) x 10m.

Rates are quoted per annum. If the tenure is less than 1 year (365 days) then you prorate it by dividing the tenure by 365 days and multiply it by the interest rate to get your actual interest.

This has been discussed severally on this thread

Totally agree with you. I'm just wondering what's the worst that could happen, I mean, its same tbills my money is being invested.
It is the same Tbills my sister. A lot of voter education still needs to be done. Tbills and other fixed income securities are actually the core business of some of these investment firms and as such they understand the market better than some banks even.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Infinitisi(m): 9:26am On Mar 01, 2019

Why are people not investing with investment firms or am I missing something ?
Got the following rates today in secondary market with Meristem investment

10.7% for 91 days
12.801% for 182 days
14.17 % for 364 days
Well I guess it is a combination of 2 factors.

1. A lot of people are more familiar and comfortable dealing with banks.

2. Many of those who invest in Tbills alone are risk averse investors and as such have never been exposed to other investment options the type offered by investment houses. So they do not know or understand the services you can get from these investment houses.

My opinion please.
