LATECH2K23: If you have done WES evaluation, it is acceptable by all Universities I have come across in the US. You don't need to be applying to your school for an official transcript. I will also save you some cost and time to be applying through school. You know ASUU is also a factor here in Nigeria. |

Donzie1995: Your chances of getting approval are very slim with your virgin passport. But if you want to try your luck, you can. It would be best if you had a solid reason why your aunt wants to sponsor your trip at this time. Sufficient proof to show you have a happy life in Nigeria. |

Susu101: You can reapply and address the concern of the ECO on your cover letter if you believe your SOA is clean and won't raise the concern of the ECO. Ensure the cover letter is clear and concise. |

Hammedyusuf: It doesn't affect anything. But try and get your NIN. You can't renew your passport without having a NIN, and you can't register a business with CAC. As a Nigerian, you should find time to get yours. The newly issued passport carries the NIN. Ensure the information on the NIN tallies with your passport if you wish to do so. Also, ensure the NIN is activated. |

justdoit100: @ bolded, I guessed the CO told the applicant the reason for the denial. VISA is 50-50. You must prove to the CO that you have sufficient funds for your program and will return to your home country after your studies. You have to show you are a bonafide student and some CO sometimes ask during the interview if the student took GRE. |

iamola30: Don't be deceived! You have to check the department of these your mentors. Some departments don't receive a high volume of applicants like other departments like Data/Business Analytics. The high volume of applicants makes the competition to be fierce. Also, I can bet you that these guys have a high GPA and graduated with a FIRST CLASS. Check your CV and ask yourself why would a department want to sponsor your education. What value do you bring to the team? Do you have the useful skills to assist ongoing or future research in the department? They care about your writing samples to see if you are a good researcher. Have you been volunteering in an NGO? This shows you have the social skill to survive the complexity of the graduate school environment. Be intentional with your application. Find a school not that popular that your application can stand out. SHALOM!!! 6 Likes |

AskGod07: Note that UKVI does not provide proper guidelines on bank statements. At least 6 months of bank SOA they advised you to submit for visa applications. If you think 1 year of SOA will guarantee your visa, go for it. Some employment letters I have seen don't have the year of employment and the monthly remuneration. You can also be intentional and submit your payslip for a 1-year window, provided it is consistent with the current salary entry into your account. If there are discrepancies, for instance, you were promoted, submit the promotion letter and also explain on the cover letter. Why do they need your SOA? From your SOA, they can deduce your sources of income, spending habits, saving goals, and financial commitments. This determines the outcome of your visa because they judge you from your SOA. That's why some people have dropped the rule of thumb for future applicants to follow and examine their applications. Rule of thumb (just a guide): 1. Available funds should be at least twice the UK trip; if not, add a sponsor to cover other expenses, delay the trip if not significant, or shorten the trip. 2. Savings (disposable income) should continually grow within the last 6 months; this should be realistic. If you plot a graph of your monthly savings within six months, it's unrealistic that you can continuously save 400k monthly as a family man who earns 500k monthly and uses 100k for expenses. There should be growth, and decline is welcome; explain it with probably a receipt of such transaction for the month of unforeseen expenses. This doesn't mean that visas can't be denied even if all these boxes are ticked. The ECOs pay close attention to the total cost of the trip during the proposed visit declared, monthly income, monthly expenses, and other financial commitments such as mortgage, dependents, etc. They want to see that you are a genuine traveler, you will travel within your means, and you will not exhaust all your savings. HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY HERE!!! Based on your ability to convince the ECO from the documents supplied during the application phase, they have the right to assume that it's unrealistic for you to take this trip, or you borrowed the opening balance in your account to boost it. Don't give the ECO room for assumptions; use your cover letter and provide receipts and proof to back up all claims. When they say to build your account for 6 months as a salary earner, they mean you should be intentional with your spending and who you give access to deposit into your salary account. AskGod07: Let's help ourselves. The ECO doesn't scrutinize other countries' applicants as they do Nigerians. You should understand they learn from the history of past applicants. The rules are clear: you need to show where your money comes from and provide information covering at least six months. So if, for example, you sold some shares, land, major transfer, and put the money into your account this month, you could show the bank account for this month but would also need to prove that you had owned the shares for the last six months, landed property. Also, when we transfer with our mobile app, we hardly disclose the description of the transaction. The bottom line is: they know that people can borrow money to show when applying for a visa. They believe it would be difficult to hold on to borrowed money for more than six months. They want to see not a large sum of money sitting in your bank account but evidence of a reasonable regular income except you are sponsored. But don't just start declaring things that you cannot prove. If you earn 1m, you can afford to spend 300k + monthly. Let's stop copying others' applications here. You should be warier of plagiarism and make your application fit your family size, responsibilities, job, and the company's nature. Remember, the visa process is 50-50, and no one can guarantee the outcome of your visa. Get sufficient evidence that you have the funds for your trip, after which something must compel you to return to your home country. SHALOM 2 Likes |

AbelPre: @ bolded did you submit SOA for this second account? Your situation is a bit confusing because, from what you are saying, you have multiple accounts and were withdrawing or sending money across to your other accounts. Try and use the description column next time on your bank app to explain the purpose of the transaction. Also, you have been advised to be on the bench to build your account. Stick to your story if you declared one SOA in your last application. Except you want to be writing a cover letter to blame an agent, which doesn't make sense, assuming you submitted one account and it wasn't your first application. |

AbelPre: Stop declaring and be truthful. It wasn't written anywhere the money you should spend as monthly expenses. Your financial statement was used against you because it doesn't add up to what you declared. Why are you crying when you have a good sum of money in your account? Is the trip that significant?! 1 Like |

Marioboyz: What's their reason for not accepting the affidavit? Do you have DoB certificate? What's the DoB in your passport and Degree result? What's the content of the affidavit? I would love to see a copy if you don't mind. If applying for the fall session, you can approach WAEC to correct this mistake and reissue a new certificate. |

Nnecee: You both have a good travel history and don't complicate things for yourself by making a lump sum deposit. But given the fact that you have been saving for years, such a transaction should be in your statement of account. Can piggyvest provide SOA for you? You have to ensure his business is active on CAC by doing a search (search.cac.gov.ng). That should also be his tie to Nigeria if he has been doing transactions with the business and have a cooperate account. |
