Searching for schools abroad can be a complex process, but there are a few steps you can take to make it easier:

1) Determine your goals: Before you start your search, think about what you want to achieve. Are you looking for a specific type of program or major? Are you looking to improve your language skills? Are you interested in studying in a specific region of the world? A clear idea of what you're looking for will make your search more focused.

2) Research different countries and cultures: Consider which countries and cultures align with your goals and interests. Look into different countries' education systems, university rankings, and visa requirements.

3) Research schools and programs: Once you have a list of countries and cultures that interest you, start researching specific schools and programs. Look at the curriculum, admissions requirements, and cost of attendance.

4) Check for scholarships and financial aid: Many universities and organizations offer scholarships or financial aid for international students, so check for these opportunities.

5) Contact schools and organizations: Once you've narrowed down your list of schools, reach out to them for more information. You can also reach out to organizations that specialize in helping students find schools abroad.

6) Visit the schools: If possible, visit the schools you're interested in. This will allow you to see the campus, meet with professors and students, and get a sense of the local culture.

7) Make a decision: After you've gathered all the information you need, make a decision about which school is the best fit for you.

It's important to note that starting the process early is a good idea, as the application process can take time, and some scholarships have early deadlines.

If you are too busy with work to do this yourself, you can send a DM to get started. Postgraduate UK application is free of charge, but T&C applies.

To everyone preparing to japa, kindly do a lot of research on location, some places are in UK that you won't get a job and the standard of living is very high, it's not about you being given offer or not. You should also try to have a vocational skills.

If you can, get some tech skills. Don't settle for less!
Go to indeed and peruse through the vacancies and requirement there. That will be a good insight to know what the labor market is looking at in UK.

Thank you for the response.
I school outside London.
My school starts on the 16 of this January though I've been here for about 2weeks now

Then 10m won't cut it for a family of three.

Looking at 15 to 16m, except if you have paid 9 months' rent or 6 months.
You looking at 12,240 GBP for the two of your dependent. Then you the MA ad your balance tuition.
Right now it is best to have more due to the volatility of the fx rate.

Good evening everyone
I had planned POF for 3 people (Myself, the MA, my wife and daughter) in my visa application, however, my wife didn't join in the application.
Now she wants to apply using the same account.
I had 20million Naira during the initial application but now have 10million in the Account.
1. My school is outside London
2, I am already in the UK (my visa granted)
3, My school fees is £12,450 and I have paid £7725
4, I have already secured accommodation for the 3 of us
5, My daughter's visa is not decided yet as they are awaiting my wife's application
The question is if the 10M is okay. If not, I need guidance on calculating the POF for her
Thanks for the usual sound replies

You have to provide more information. Are you schooling in London or outside?
How many months do you have left in your program? You mentioned you are already in the UK.
You have to show the money has not been recycled. Best to have more than the balance you used in your application and provide an updated SOA.
Add your rent receipts, tuition fees receipt, and any legal patent you have made since your arrival to prove that the money in your account has not been recycled.

Please I need clarification about the TLS a added service

Can I use the keep my passport and express courier service together ?

In a situation my application is approved how do I send my passport to them from Warri ?

Keep My Passport

”Enjoy the peace of mind of keeping your passport with you while you’re waiting for a visa decision. “

And the

EXPRESS COURIER RETURN
“”Get your passport returned more quickly to you by courier, directly from the vignette office, and avoid unnecessary travel and crowds””

I am based in Warri and I don’t want to travel to lagos twice that’s why I intend to use the Express courier while for the keep my passport I need to drop it in the us embassy for renewal hence I can’t drop my passport in TLS

If you already have an appointment with the US embassy, I would suggest you get that sorted out first before thinking of applying for a UK visa.

Hello everyone,

A school I applied to asked me to send my passport bio data page before they can review my application. However, the problem is that my passport has expired and i have requested for the renewal since August.
Please how do I respond to the mail so that the school can start reviewing my application.

Just send across the Old passport data page and inform them you will send the new passport data page before they process your I-20.

I have been following this thread for a while now and just observing, reading people’s experiences so I learn a thing or two before putting my application forward. Thanks to everyone who keeps this thread active and flowing with advice and suggestions

I heard the refusal rate for uk visit visa has significantly increased this past month but went ahead nonetheless. And now, after receiving a refusal with the most ridiculous reasons, I can say I’m fully convinced something is wrong with the vetting system.

I am also not able to appeal the decision, which is very disappointing. The decision came out in 4 working days post biometrics and this was not a priority or super priority appointment btw. Reason for refusal was tied to 1. Doubt on my employer (which is crazy because I work at a multinational of great repute - they claim my employer couldn’t be found on CAC’s website as a valid company, howww?? I literally use our CAC document to process permits for incoming Expats of various nationalities and with 100% success, I also had all sorts of supporting documentation to prove my employment), 2. Declared funds being 3x my disposable income despite having a solid statement (I had a closing balance of approx 2m and lump sum was clearly explained with bonus memo and payslip) showing flow of funds from my employer, and a strong LOE explaining all these in detail, payslips for 6 months, an introduction letter from my employer as well as a supplementary statement from another account of mine).

They also stated a budget of 1.1m is too much for a short stay trip and gives them reason to doubt that I would leave the UK. I used this budget inclusive of flights (in my head) but in hindsight, maybe I should have declared half of that instead especially since I’d be staying with family.

All in all, the decision is unfounded. And I’m completely stunned as I also have good travel history within Africa and to two Schengen states and never had an immigration issue or visa denial. The latter part of this upsets me the most because these guys have now spoilt my record undeservedly. If I saw this coming, I would have just applied for a Schengen visa jeje and saved myself this headache, and some money.

At this point, and with these flimsy decisions given without due diligence, I am not sure what more one can do to prove their application is genuine. It is well

Just like the link from @hunee
This is not the best time to be declaring family members who are not citizens in the UK.
If one doesn't have a strong purpose for traveling, it is best to sit it out at this time.

Good morning. Please I want to apply for a visit visa with my wife and my child. They always pay us upfront in our work of place every beginning of the year. Please when applying I hope the eco wont say it lump sum. There is documents to back it up like a payment advice from our corporation. Please I will need a reply to this. Thank you

The lump sum is not a problem, just endeavor to explain it just like you have said on your LOE and reference the attached payslip for the month that shows such a transaction (upfront).
I would advise you don't apply immediately and wait a month or two after such a lump deposit just to be extra safe.

Hi gurus and everyone ,

My husband want to apply for Uk visit visa , he’s been refused once in 2012 and has since not applied for visa . I studied in the uk and have visited a couple of times with the children. My children and I have a valid UK visit visa .

We’re planning to travel together for the first time as a family in August and I will be co-sponsoring the trip . My bank statement has more funds than my husband’s account . I hope this won’t affect his visa application.
If asked is anyone else paying for the trip what should he state and why . He will also be paying but we want to be careful the stated amount isn’t more than 4 times is salary .

If I’m co-sponsoring what documents will I need to attach to support his application?

The reason why you sponsoring this trip should be very convincing especially at this time. Best you taking him out for a birthday treat.

Hello NL,

I was denied my F1 visa application on the 5 th January 2023, orientation 10th January

VO was a calm young lady who didn’t ask more questions nor look the candidates in the face . I was exhausted because I was in line since 7am and this was around 12pm

Me: Good morning
VO: gm…. Pass your documents please

VO: who is your sponsor?
Me: my fiance

VO: How long have you been engaged?
Me:7 months… but we have been dating for 4 years

VO:What does he do
Me:He is a software engineer at Chevron

VO:Why did you choose your school?
Me:A friend of mine who has a masters degree from this university recommended it to me and they are also very accommodating to international students

VO:Have you been outside the country before?
Me:Yes, 3 countries (I named them including the US)

VO:What do you do?
I’m a medical doctor

VO: ( looks up from typing) so why do you choose to do masters?
Me:I would not like to work as a clinician and I would like to get into another career path but this program would help me to still be in service in the healthcare …
(I admit I was exhausted and this answer would not have been my best option in a different situation)

She then passed me the blue paper stating I didn’t qualify for a student visa.

I would appreciate any feedback back and would like to know if two weeks is too soon to reapply as I would be married by then . Thanks

Common, I believe you wrote your SOP yourself, and the reason you gave on your SOP would have been your best response to why you are pursuing a Master's degree now. Also, there is no strong tie between you and your sponsor. What happens if when you travel abroad, he gets married, that means you will be left stranded As a doctor you should be earning well and have good savings, add that to how you intend to fund your studies.
You can reapply after your marriage but I would advise you to defer your admission to Fall intake.

Please i have 2 more questions. Thank you for your assistance.

1. I also have 2 cooperative savings that is deducted straight from my company, the remainder is what lands in my account. The deduction of these 2 savings is always on our payslip, do I declare Both as savings as well or just voice over it in my explanation. Note, I'm not making use of these, only reason why I'm thinking of mentioning is because it adds up to my monthly salary after tax. So I'm thinking of pointing it out so the ECO won't say what I quoted and what's entering my account is not adding up.

2. My monthly takehome varies based on allowances paid in different months e.g take home in Nov includes 13th month, takehome in some months include bonuses and other performance incentives. I'm thinking of the best way to answer the "how much do you earn monthly after tax"? Do I write the highest, the lowest or the average over the 6 months payslip I'm submitting and then explain?

@giselle237 @infosoftlife please help

Take the mode (the most frequent salary).
Attach your payslip. You can explain the discrepancies in your monthly salary to the ECO on your LOE.
You can declare the savings only if you are submitting the SOA. Also, if you know, it would raise any query i.e, you can prove the origin of such money accrued.

The most important thing is that you need to make sure that you have enough funds to cover your travel to the UK and that you have attachments back home for which you’d definitely come back, be it a job, investment here in Nigeria, or family.

Happy new year my senior infosoftlife, thanks for your response.

As per tie or what will make me return back home? I’m married with 4 kids, have a land property and good paying job as my tie.

Can I add these as additions docs if necessary
Tenancy Rent Agreement
Recent electricity bill payment recipient I paid
Kids school fees receipts

Where I’m filling my visa application there’s a place asked other income or saving?

Can I write my bank account balance as my saving?

Thanks happy new year

Just add sufficient documentation to back up your claim and tie you back to Nigeria. I can't advise you here because I don't know your full story on your LOE.
You need to convince the ECO you won't be seeking asylum/overstay your visa.
If you submit just one SOA, ensure the amount you declare as saving should be consistent. You can use that to explain the opening balance.

Huhmmm thanks wiseman Giselle, I will adjust my visit to 8 days instead of 5days. Is that ok?

Lastly please have been asking this question many time without adequate response, is my Account closing balance that I will write where they asked do you have SAVING ?

You have a salary account; a savings account is different and should come from a declared source like your salary account.
Some people divide their accounts into expenditures and savings. This savings account is what they use to fund their vacations/emergencies.
Don't declare it if you can't provide a statement for it; if you know, the transactions there can't be explained.

Thanks for your detailed analysis.

Circumstances changed will be

1. submitting my personal savings account statement, which I did not submit when I applied. To demonstrate my financial circumstances in Nigeria.

2. Not mentioning visiting my sister in my application, even if I state I have a family member in the UK. Cos I actually booked for a hotel to lodge.

3. Details of my day to day itinerary as you rightly stated.

As stated by the ECO each application is considered on its individual merit.

Will also want to know why the ECO mentioned my bank balance was 9 months of my income.?

Thank you for your anticipated reply.

@Giselle has given you the best advice.
@ bolded doesn't matter now if you mentioned it because they already have that information from your first application.
You declared an investment without providing a legal document to back it up. That was a lump sum that had a significant impact on your account statement. I guess that's why the ECO stated that you have 9 times the amount of your salary. Next time, carefully analyze your account statement and give a proper breakdown of how the money was accrued. Ensure you have the documents to back up such claims.

Your saving account statement doesn't matter at this stage because you have sufficient money to finance the trip but work on your home ties. Don't throw money at the ECO face they don't care about it. The reason why you want to travel in this era of japa wave should be convincing esp. as a virgin passport holder.
Provide sufficient documents.

Apply only if your circumstances have changed.

Please kindly advise me

Happy new year

There is no manual for @ bolded. You should understand that it all depends on your itinerary.
There are many factors to be considered, but I suggest not spending more than half of your account balance.
You should be concerned about working on your ties to Nigeria. People have gotten their visas approved using all available sums in their bank account for a trip.
Work on your home tie with sufficient evidence. That's the ECO's pressing concern.

Happy New Year!

P.S: This is just my conviction

Know the course u want to study...

Understand why u want to study the course and future plans when u are done with the course....

Research schools and why u think the school of ur choice is okay for you and the course...

Get ur document....BSc transcripts ..certificate,
and CV especially if u have graduated more than 5 years

Money....plenty money....as in...plenty money

Money to pay school fees....depending on the school

Money to pay health insurance...depending on the duration of course of number of people following you

Money for tb test 60k

Money for plane... 250k -1.2million depending on when u are flying.....

Money for proof of funds in ur account to prove to embassy u can care for urself.. 9500£ outside london....12500£ inside london

Money for rent

Money..money...money...money...money...

Just budget like 7-8M for a school with cheap tuition deposit like 2000£..

U still need more money after u land ooooo..
but if u enter street with ur spouse wey sabi work... u might just be able to pull it off ....

if u go alone...na 20hrs per week worth of work goverment go give u.....if u dont pack enough money from nigeria...u may not be able to work to pay ur tuition and bills....

In addy, understand why you want to travel to the UK.
Some courses are tasking, and if you want to combine work with your study to pay the tuition, it won't be that easy for you.
