I thank all those guys wey remind us say our boys na PAPAS.

Remember mutiu adepoju palyed in scotland 89 with figo yet

figo's career outlived adepoju's by almost a decade (4get

onigbinde's inclusion). this just shows our players are undervalued

fathers and we need to start getting young chaps, at least 22 - 25

for u-17 instead of 30 - 35.
TV/Movies / Re: Your Worst Commercial Advert? by initiator(m): 11:26am On Sep 03, 2007
all those that said they hate the Udeme ad have terrible aesthetic levels. that ad is one of the best things to watch on nigerian tv. so y'all with poor artistic appreciation should just SHUT UP!!!!
Politics / Re: Soludo Dropped From National Economic Team by initiator(m): 1:03pm On Aug 24, 2007
Nigeria makes me bleed sometimes.
Soludo is one of the best public officials we have seen in this part of the world
and he has become a victim of petty acrimony. For sustained development, Nigeria needs a person at the helm of affairs for a pretty long period of time. Yaradua should not pander to the interest of some blindly-anti-obasanjo hawks that want to see EVERYTHING dislodged unless we would go back to pre-reform period (this is not to say obj was very successful but we needed him).

Soludo's naira re-denomination is good in principle and rather than vilify him, the new financminister should work with him to mitigate any negative consequences.

If Nigeria wants to be among the top 20 economies in the world, we need bold visionaries like soludo, not beaurocratic mongers, yaradua is acting funny i must say, more interested in asserting his own independence than leading with the needed urgency.
Business / Re: Starting A Barbing Saloon, Club & Restaurant by initiator(m): 12:56pm On Aug 24, 2007
It's a great initiative cos the three businesses would compliment themselves.
However, location would determine price, clientele and value. play the matrix well.
then running a club in Nigeria really means being creative and re-inventing the wheel
a lot. you have to attract a slice of Nigerian celebrities and keep bringing new things
except the hype would fade. also Nigeria needs really big clubs, not the present small
ones.
Politics / Re: Nigerians Need To Watch Buhari by initiator(m): 2:26pm On Aug 05, 2007
As much as i'm begining 2 admire yaradua, we must not loose sight of the fact that his election was FRAUDULENT!

Buhari is a disciplined man and he was candid in his interview.

Business / Re: Starting Up An IT Outsourcing Company by initiator(m): 8:51pm On Jul 28, 2007
There're 2 critical factors here:
1. Coordinating the offshore clients. This needs a biz devt/marketing team to source for the client especially the strong pound UK and the US.

2. Assembling a BAD development team and keep shoping for emerging developers and project managers. Poaching from systemspec and socketworks - the 2 major software coys in nigeria - wont be a bad idea.

We cant speak like oracles but we can note some certainties.

The 'select few' are ready to pay to watch.

The 'select few' are expanding.

There's an army of non-rock peeps who would be drawn to such a show for the novelty and curiousity of such.

Me think you have to indicate the particular software market to be serviced so we can make function-specific responses.

By the way i have this PR software we developed which has been lying in my laptop 4 a long while though its development is not been completed by our team. The research team includes a senior lecturer in a university. So we can talk on commercialising it.

Many people on Nairaland are plain idle.

There's no link to show oprah made such a statement so why the fuss?
Family / Re: How Hard Is It To Remain In Marriage? by initiator(m): 3:59am On Jul 27, 2007
Am suprised MILITIA's posts were calm - then why does she go haywire in politics?

One of my phobias is divorce. And one of my life desire's 2 find a fine, tall, gracious and understanding friend to call a wife.

My folks've been married 4 over 30 years now and i still c friction. I hope i can stay till death despite the irritations. But e no easy o. Na just God.

Oh hush up shawn. 1st its rock is demonic. Now its homosexualism. Go through as many rock lyrics as u can on lyrics.com. When u c 1 with gay content, post it here.

Dont think u read this thread wel wen its been settled that rock is like anyother genre that can be used for wotever.
Politics / Re: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by initiator(m): 8:43pm On Jul 26, 2007
Until MILITIA understands that she's disgusting readers with her brainless posts, we wont have a decent debate.

Well the statement by oprah is unconfirmed. No intelligent celebrity would talk like that.
Crime / Re: Nigerian Student In America Threatens To Blow Up American University by initiator(m): 11:12pm On Jul 25, 2007
@ MILITIA
i just cant help with your porous thinking.
Must you make this a north-south west-east issue?

I think the guy's lawyer got it. He was caught @ the wrong time - with the virginia tech issue and terrorist fears. He was caught with inciteful writing in a paper that contained other rap lyrics in his car.
Yea he's got strong suspicion hovering around his doings but not like the psychotic virginia tech case or some1 with a political cause. The fear of our times should not make us lump things like this together. Criminal matters like these should be treated case after case.
Crime / Re: Nigerian Student In America Threatens To Blow Up American University by initiator(m): 9:57pm On Jul 25, 2007
The guy appears, from the story, just living the hip hop fad. Tracing his "actions" to terrorism or re-enactment of the virginia tech episode is unfounded.
Literature / Re: Why I Don't Like 'half Of A Yellow Sun' by initiator(m): 12:25pm On Jul 25, 2007
@ obong habila has not done a serious prose work. He did well with his award-winning short story, prison notes, but since then he's growth's been dwarfed.
Literature / Re: Why I Don't Like 'half Of A Yellow Sun' by initiator(m): 11:33pm On Jul 24, 2007
Ive not read her 2nd novel - just the 1st. But in analysing her slant we must look @ her upbringing. For the idyll campus of UNN to an american university, i think we can rely on her real experience to tell a truly nigerian story. She always has to rely on her powerful imagination to sail her through. But she's the freshest thing to happen to nigerian literature.
Literature / Re: Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe who is the Greatest by initiator(m): 11:11pm On Jul 24, 2007
This is the oldest thug-of-war in nigerian literature 4 two writers with distinctly different styles but share some similarity in substance.

Achebe writes better prose and he's voice is more authentic and true to the soil.

On the other hand soyinka is a better poet and playwright with an eccentric tone and obscure outlook.

They appeal to different audiences but like everything nigerian their fans have demarcated the debate into igbo vs yoruba.
Music/Radio / Re: Would A Rock Concert Pull A Crowd In Nigeria? by initiator(m): 10:15pm On Jul 24, 2007
What do touts have to do with rock?
Music/Radio / Re: 2nd Thisday Music Festival - A Flop? by initiator(m): 12:05pm On Jul 20, 2007
For those questioning the purpose of the concert, they should please shut up. Must africa be an eternal stage for charitable events and charity soccer matches?

Nonsense. What's wrong with organising a show for profit? Thisday got the planning and logistics wrong this time - unlike the last time - PERIOD
