Some of these AA posters act like we owe them something. We do not owe them anything. Using terms like "look up to them." What kind of condescending statements are this? They should be looking up to us, because we are there cultural forbears. We are their Alpha and their Omega. When will they realize that they need to go to the source and that is Africa? They have forsaken their African roots, and would rather be considered a Native America such as the Iroquois or their favorite, Cherokee indian. ![]() Even if they have remotely Native American blood, but most do not have any. Caribbeans and Brazilians understand that their roots are in Africa. Only a few AA or should say I Black Americans have realized this.
I was thinking the same thing as well. There is a condescending tone to the responses. Its funny that you mention the whole Native American thing because less than 1% of the African American population is actually of Native American lineage. A lot of people don't realize this but those same Native Americans that some African Americans are quick to claim were slave owners as well and a lot of them continued owning and selling slaves even after the Emancipation Proclamation was introduced. |
Once again, sriracha hot chili sauce, I love this stuff. I can eat it without putting it on anything ![]() |
Brite02:It helped but only for my eyes. My stomach is still calling out for my dear garri |
Ron Oneal:No offense, but could we put a rest to this one drop rule thing? Seems like people either disregard or forget that he's white as well.
Afro-Americans have problems they need to deal with and Africans or black Africans have problems they need to deal with. Can we all agree on that? Now, how about we put a rest to this dumb thread?
lol agreed but it will only be a matter of time before someone else opens up another thread on the same topic ![]()
I'd like to tell you via personal message, but there's no link on your profile.
Hmmm, I guess we're gonna have to work something out. Can you give me a hint? ![]() |
@OP: I don't have a boyfriend but if I did and he said that I would ask him to elaborate on what he meant with his statement. How he answers would determine my next move. At first when I read the post, my initial thought was that I would want to break up with him--I cannot stand men who are insensitive to certain female issues. Based on what you wrote it seems like he thinks that sex and rȧpe are the same thing ![]() |
Liss:Yes, I will--I promise ![]() sexylogan:Eh ya, sorry to hear that. It does hurt to love someone and have them not love you back |
Oxone:Omg, I've met that guy before. He always come to New York Fashion Week. |

@OP: The outfits are ugly ![]() |
Before It was Asians only who sold hair products aimed for Africans.Initially, in the US and in the UK, many beauty supply stores where owned by black people. For the US, that period in time was around the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Towards the end of the 70's when the 80's came rollin' around, then was a shift in terms of ethnic ownership of those businesses. In the US for example, many of the Asian business owners started making cheaper inferior products in order to replace them with the products owned and distributed by African Americans, the purpose of this was to wipe out all the African American competitors. At some point in time [and this is still going on] the Asian distributors stopped distributing to African Americans. Eventually, those same Asian business owners put many African American owners out of business. There's a whole documentary on it. pleep:Its not just the Asians who are to blame. In a documentary [the same documentary I mentioned in my previous comment above] I watched, the film maker saw an African American woman who purchased an item from an Asian owned beauty supply store. When the woman left the store, the film maker asked her why she bought it at an Asian owned beauty supply store rather than an African American salon ans she said because it was cheaper. She further went on to say that if there is a product that's sold at two beauty supply store; one African American owned and one Asian owned [Asian one being cheaper], she would go to the Asian store because the products was cheaper. It kinda reminds me of the whole Dominican hair salon phenomenon here in New York. Over the past couple years, there has been a shift in people going to black owned hair salons.
Lol as far as north africans not caring about blacks- Thats false. North africans engage in rap and look up to black americans just like other africans. And if anything north africans should look to the black american civil rights era for inspiration in their own countries. North africans are fighting for rights in third world countries. Black americans were fighting for rights in a 1st world country and had the same obstacles. The difference is north africans are doing it with violence, black americans did it with non-violence and got the job done. North africans have alot to look up to with black americans
Ok, so what was the point in the above quote? You want us to clap for you or something? You make it sound like we owe you something and from the way you worded the last few sentences it comes across like you just wanna say "Look at what we did for you people" or like you wanna rub those few moments of accomplishments in the face of your African counterparts. Yes, in the past a lot been accomplished but based on this thread a lot of the arguing seems to stem from the actions of African American of present day America. And who said that you did it with nonviolence? And lemme ask you, how much of a job did you as African Americans get done if there are still forms of institutional discrimination and racism? And for the record, I don't think you should have said that North African engaging in rap is not an indication of North Africans not caring about black people. Just because you can emulate music and style of another ethnic group in another country doesn't mean there aren't underlying issues. For the most part, there actually are issues between Arab Africans and Black Africans. Yes, there are some North Africans who will openly tell you that they don't like black Africans but its not all. You saying "as far as north Africans not caring about blacks-. . . Thats false." is more of a generalization. If you don't mind me asking, how many North Africans have you known or come in contact with to have made that comment? Personally I have never had a bad experience with a North African. I open my arms to North Africans just as I do to Africans of other regions of Africa. |
mojounited:Lmao, oya take all the dogs you want. I posted a pic of a smoked dog so you can eat that if you want. Calabar men are good in bed? Hmmm, I never heard that before. Are you Calabar ![]() Oh and by the way, I can see your reflection in the glass case in your profile pic |
Brite02: Eh ya, thank you |
Ron Oneal:I don't think you are one of those backward African Americans but I like I told the OP, this is something you may not fully understand unless you're African and have experienced this. You being an African American in Paris or Germany isn't the same as being an African in America. By the way, what were you doing in Paris and Germany? Side note to Ron Oneal: lol, this may sound silly but for some reason the movie "An American in Paris" just came to mind when I asked you what you were doing in Paris. |
